Trinidad & Tobago emerged as the top English-speaking Caribbean country at last month's FIDE World Youth Under-16 Chess Olympiad in Colombia.

00:00After nine intense rounds against top junior players from around the globe, Team TTO proudly emerged as the highest-placed English-speaking Caribbean nation.
00:10The squad was coached by Quinn Cabrales, with Cale Samuel Bissnoth, Levi James, Xavier Nurse and Samantha Dolly being the players.
00:19Together they represented the next generation of Trinidad and Tobago's chess potential.
00:24Competing in a field of 85 international teams, Trinidad and Tobago secured a commendable mid-table finish.
00:31Samantha Dolly was the star of the team, scoring an outstanding seven-and-a-half points out of nine games.
00:37TTCA president Sandy Razak was proud of the team and said, quote,
00:41This was an exceptional showing by our young players.
00:44They demonstrated skill, composure and heart on an international stage,
00:49proving that Trinidad and Tobago is steadily becoming a force to be reckoned with in youth.
