00:07Among the more common concerns affecting primary school-aged children are uncorrective, refractive error, primarily myopia or short-sightedness, astigmatism,
00:19or hyperloreal.
00:20Globally, approximately 15-25% of primary school children have a refractive error, while local studies show refractive error is
00:30the leading cause of reduced vision, with rates increasing as children get older.
00:35The leading causes of this have been increased screen time, prolonged and narrow work, reduced outdoor activity, family history, a
00:45lack of routine comprehensive eye exams.
00:59School screenings, comprehensive eye exams, frames, professional fitting services, and overall eye care support to ensure each child in this
01:09program receives appropriate intervention.
01:11From the beginning of June till now, our team has screened 207 students, with 183 kids, recommended for further eye
01:21exams.
01:22Those numbers are expected to increase as we continue testing into July and August period.
01:28As an organization, Quartz Optical has made accommodation for as many as 250 students from this program to receive prescription
01:37glasses.
01:51A child who struggles to read, who loses confidence in the classroom, or who appears disengaged, may simply be unable
02:02to read.
02:03And in speaking to one of the principals on our school visit, she clearly gave us an example of that,
02:09where she was teaching a standard four class, child six years into primary education, and the child could not read.
02:18She was having problems with literacy.
02:21When she did some further investigation, it was because the child needed reading glasses.
02:29So this initiative is welcomed.
02:33Here's the one I was trying to realize that it was because of how she knew us.
02:37And that's why I found this stuff, because I special hire an ensemble Fikcal and a sign of the occasion
02:42are there.
02:43And this project was due to a successful metaphor coming to another instruction that is a very small area of
02:44the school in the school area.
