00:00Fans were promised a corporate showdown and that's what they got at the Clash of Corporates Table Tennis Finals.
00:06The action took place at the Wasa Sports and Cultural Club.
00:09Four teams made the cut for the final day.
00:12In the battle for third place, Spinners 1 in blue took on Spinners 2 in red,
00:16both teams coming out of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
00:20In the end, Spinners blue prevailed 3-2 to secure third spot after facing off in the male and female
00:27singles,
00:27mixed doubles and doubles events.
00:30On to the main event, Wasa playing on their home turf in the final against the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad
00:36and Tobago.
00:37It was back and forth action from both teams as they battled for the top prize.
00:43Their respective players showed quick growth in the sport considering that the competition was designed for amateurs short of experience
00:50in the sport.
00:51The final singles battle brought up the best of the participants before TAT sealed the deal.
00:57Fuller 3-2.
00:58Organiser of the competition, Curtis Humphries, was pleased with how the event turned out.
01:03So it was a successful event.
01:05We had quite a bit of teams.
01:08Obviously we wanted to get home.
01:09But we started and are hoping that more teams would progress and take part in it because it's something that
01:18we want to focus on the health and wellness of employees as well as building in terms of our table
01:25tennis fraternity where we could get administrators from these like this.
01:30We could get coaches, we could get coaches, we could get umpires to do that capacity building.
01:34So it's not only about the top players.
01:36We had some really good exhibitions from our national players tonight.
01:40So it's about getting that balance where we have that recreational side of table tennis as well as our national
01:47and virgin booth.
