00:00And Panama all waiting in the wings as Trinidad and Tobago play their way through here, it's
00:05Jovian Jones!
00:06And my goodness, he's scored again against Cuba!
00:07Now this fantastic start for Trinidad and Tobago has just gotten even better!
00:18Not all comebacks work out, but Jovian Jones' return to the national team has been an immediate
00:24success and the 33-year-old says he kept believing in this moment.
00:28To be honest, over the months, I was, you know, you could ask my friends, I always wanted
00:33this, you know, I think, you know, I was in a dark spot, I think it was over for me, but,
00:38you know, thank God I had my mum who keep pushing me and also some friends and family,
00:44so I'm thankful for that, you know, and I get the opportunity again and I take it.
00:48Yet his return to the fold wasn't just down to him.
00:52First of all, I want to thank Derking, you know, for bringing me back and believing in
00:56me and also I want to thank the players that, you know, supported me to come back on the
01:01national and do what I've been doing over the years.
01:05And the former Seattle Sounders and Inter-Miami standout identified some of the areas this
01:10current team can improve.
01:12I think we just have to be more collective defensively and I think we're creating a lot
01:19of chance now.
01:20You know, some people might say it's an easy team, you know, but if you watch it from a
01:24different perspective, it's different, you know, I think we're creating a lot of chance,
01:29but we just have to finish our chances.
01:31And now that he's back in national colours, Jones wants to make his return worthwhile.
01:36I'm happy to be here, always happy to represent the country, you know, and give all to the
01:41country, but it's not finished yet, you know.
01:43I just don't want to just play for Trinidad, you know, I want to, you know, earn something
01:48at the end of my international career.
