As the saying goes, Rome wasn't built in a day.

And despite T&T's heavy defeat to Jamaica there were encouraging signs to leave the coaching staff encouraged.

00:00just looking at the results one would assume t and t were uncompetitive against the reggae girls
00:05but the devil is in the details especially for a team playing for the first time in almost two years
00:11and coach damien briggs was pleased despite the results yeah really happy i thought um
00:17started the game when the energy levels was high so we had a goal like um and it was really a
00:25pleasure to see the players um so work to the game plan that we have and and then adjust when
00:32when we needed to adjust um and like i just said to them don't let this result define who we are
00:38um we know what we gotta do we know we're in a rebuilding phase and we gotta take the the good
00:44bits out of here and then also look at the bits that wasn't too well and work on it and go again
00:49jamaica were missing a number of starters due to absence or injury and coach briggs was honest
00:54in admitting the difference between the two teams massive difference for us and and their players
01:00is most of their players like i said in the interview before the game are playing in season
01:07where probably we only had three players that that playing in season now that came from abroad
01:15all the rest of players were local so we knew it was going to be a challenge in terms of a physical
01:20point of view but that's why you know the way we played we we wanted to pick our moments when we
01:25could have high energy and have a go at them and i thought when we did we were quite good and there
01:30was moments when we had to drop off and and deal with things and we dealt with it but um again
01:37you know for me the performance was one that's encouraging and yeah we just looked at reset and
01:44and and grow again with a friendly in the rearview mirror the focus now is on the first opponent
01:50barbados in the concacaf w qualifiers just constantly improving just you know just constantly working
01:57on what what how we we decide you know the type of football we want to play and as i said before we
02:04want to play a football that's a bit attractive and and high levels of energy and and we know where we
02:11are now we know what what we need to add and hopefully come barbados we will be fully in one
02:17swing from a from a conditioning perspective and a footballing perspective as well and he identified
02:23the biggest areas we need to improve on before the start of the campaign um the biggest area to improve
02:28that that stood out is is probably our fitness levels and and again you know like the players
02:37themselves know it but saying that i thought they gave everything of themselves every player came
02:42off there their shirt was wet they gave a hundred percent and that's what we could ask for terrence clark tv6 sport
