$1.6 million in marijuana was seized by police in Crown Point, Tobago. The drugs were in a white Nissan Tiida parked on Pigeon Point road on Monday.

In another exercise, twenty-six assorted rounds of ammunition were seized in Pembroke where a truck driver employed with Warner's Construction Limited was arrested. More from Elizabeth Williams.

00:00The marijuana was seized in an exercise that took place between 9 p.m. and 12
00:06a.m. on Monday. A search of the vehicle revealed 55 packets of marijuana weighing
00:1129.7 kilos. The vehicle was searched with the assistance of the canine unit
00:17leading to the discovery of a multicolored crocus bag containing 48
00:23rectangular packages wrapped in brown plastic as well as a red bag containing
00:29seven black rectangular packages, all of which contained marijuana. The
00:35packages weighed a total of 29.7 kilograms with an estimated street
00:41value of $1.6 million. They were subsequently seized and transported to
00:47the Cronk Point Police Station. This operation was spearheaded by A. C. P.
00:53Cibero, Senior Superintendent Eli, Senior Superintendent Mirage and the
00:58Senior Superintendent Montreat. No one was arrested. The exercise was carried
01:04out by members of the Guard and Emergency Branch, Interagency Task Force,
01:09Canine Unit and Tobago Divisional Police. In another exercise, one man was
01:15arrested at Dr Road in Pembroke after a search of his home revealed 26 assorted
01:22rounds of ammunition, namely four 9mm ammunition including one TTR, 12.40 Smith
01:33and Western ammunition. Ten 5.56 ammunition were found and seized from a
01:40black plastic bag containing a transparent cylindrical bottle with a
01:46red cover bearing the words A. D. O. B. O. All purpose seasoning which
01:52contained uncooked rice found behind a wall mirror in a washroom located on
01:58the northwestern side of the house. A truck driver employed with Warner's
02:03Construction Limited was arrested for the offense of possession of ammunition.
