A suspect is now in police custody, following the seizure of over $1.8 million worth of cannabis.

00:05during an intelligence-led operation in Kanupia on Wednesday. According to police,
00:10officers acted on information sometime between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesday
00:14and conducted surveillance on a supermarket on Siriza Circular in Kanupia. The officers then
00:21entered the establishment where they met a 37-year-old man and proceeded to search the premises.
00:27While searching the rear of the storerooms, they discovered a transparent crocus bag containing
00:32multiple packets of cannabis. The 33 packets seized had a combined weight of 17 kilograms
00:38with an estimated street value of 1,865,699 dollars. The man was arrested and taken to
00:49the Arima police station for processing along with the illegal narcotics. The operation was
00:54coordinated by ACP Singh and Woman Senior Superintendents Medar and Wilson and supervised
00:59by Woman Sergeant Ramai in collaboration with the Arima Operations Intelligence Team.

01:58the Northern Division led to the arrest of three of the men while one was able to escape.
02:03Investigators say that the men went to the Aruka grocery around 11 am and robbed the
02:09establishment of cash and other items. Police officers were able to intercept the vehicle
02:15in the Maloni area a few minutes later. During an exchange of gunfire, one man was shot and injured
02:21while two others were held by the low men. A fourth man escaped. The police were able to
02:26recover the stolen cash and other items the men had taken from the grocery. An illegal firearm
02:32was also recovered by the police. Investigations are continuing.
