Over $1 million worth of compressed marijuana was seized by Tobago police ,and a Bon Accord man was arrested following an intelligence-led operation on Thursday night at the Scarborough port. More in this Elizabeth Williams report.

00:00According to police, after several days of surveillance at the Scarborough Port,
00:05members of the Tobago Gang and Intelligence Unit intercepted a white Honda Civic vehicle
00:11driven by a 25-year-old man of Bonacord at around 9.20 p.m. on Thursday.
00:18When officers searched the vehicle, they discovered a hidden compartment in the trunk
00:23designed to resemble a gas tank.
00:25Upon closer inspection, the team found the 61 packets of compressed marijuana,
00:31weighing approximately 33 kilograms, sealed in the compartment,
00:36the street value of the narcotics estimated at over $1 million.
00:41The officers arrested the suspect and seized the vehicle and illegal narcotics,
00:46which were taken to the Chauvin Road police station.
00:50Commissioner of Police Alistair Guevara has commended the officers involved
00:55for their diligence, intelligence-led approach, and unwavering commitment to service.
