Another deadly shooting in Tobago takes the murder toll to twenty-two.


The victim is Alvin Daniel of Parlatuvier.


Mr. Daniel was shot as he exited his Parlatuvier home shortly before six o'clock on Wednesday morning.

00:00According to police reports, 55-year-old Alvin Daniel, also known as Saji, of Bamboo Hill,
00:08Palletivier, and Kelva Jofield of Back Hill Wim, were seated in a silver Toyota motorcar
00:14at Northside Road, Palletivier, when loud explosions were heard.
00:18The deceased was found at the location nursing gunshot wounds.
00:22Kelva Jofield also sustained gunshot wounds.
00:25An alarm was raised and the victims were taken to the Roxborough Hospital, where Mr.
00:30Daniel was pronounced dead, shortly before 6 o'clock this morning.
00:34Kelva Jofield was attended to and transferred to the Scarborough General Hospital for medical
00:40treatment.
00:41The scene was visited by a team of officers and several spent shells were found and seized.
00:48Police believe that Mr. Daniel was the target.
00:51TV6 spoke with Senior Superintendent of Police, Radul Kirk.
01:21Contacted on the murder, Chief Secretary Farley Agustin said he knew Mr. Daniel from his electoral
01:28district.
01:29Mr. Agustin said, quote,
01:31Like the rest of the society, I am also affected by the murder rate.
01:36Every murder is painful.
01:38It is also beyond vexing that the national security apparatus in Tobago still cannot
01:43get the resources to fight crime.
01:46I know Mr. Daniel well.
01:48He is from my electoral district.
01:50I was working with him and his family on land ownership for the purpose of critically needed
01:56shelter for his family.
01:58My deepest sympathies go out to the family.
