Two Suspects in the murder of 22 year-old Trevon Walker, were held by police on Wednesday afternoon in the Spring Garden Orange Hill road area, following a police intelligence led exercise in Tobago. This comes one day after the murder of Mr. Walker. Elizabeth Williams has been following this latest development and files this report.
00:00A 38-year-old man of Highlands Road, Mariah, and another man from Signal Hill, Tobago, were held along the Spring Garden, Orange Hill Road.
00:10When one man saw police, he jumped out of a car and ran.
00:14Police pursued and a shot was fired. He surrendered and was taken into custody.
00:19Senior Superintendent of Police Earl Eli spoke to TV6 News.
00:23Earlier on today, an intelligence-led operation was conducted by members of Tobago Police, which resulted in the arrest of two suspects in relation to the murder of 22-year-old Mr. Walker, which occurred in 29th at Highlands in Mariah.
00:41One of the suspects are from the General Hill area, Highland Road, and the other suspect is from the Signal Hill area in Tobago.
00:49So both persons are arrested and are assisting police with inquiries in relation to this murder.
00:56Officer Eli said he expects charges to be laid in the matter.
01:01We expect a favorable outcome in terms of taking persons before the court to answer the charges of murder.
01:08How do you feel in terms of the performance of your officers?
01:12Because this is the fourth murder for the year, and all four murders for the year in Tobago have been solved.
01:19Well, I am quite satisfied with the effort made by the officers of Tobago.
01:24I think they are well motivated, and they are well charged up, and they are demonstrating their effectiveness in terms of police in the island.
01:37His message to breaking the law, Tobago is no safe haven for criminals.
01:43Well, my message to those criminals are constant, and I constantly tell them, do not come to Tobago to commit crimes.
01:52Come to Tobago to enjoy yourself, to enjoy the Tobago space.
01:57But once you come bent on committing crimes, you will be caught, and you will be treated according to the laws.

02:09On Tuesday, Trevon's father, Clifton Walker, called for justice for the murder of his son.
02:15According to police, at around 2.30 a.m. on Tuesday, Trevon Walker, 22 of Lady Smith Trace, Mariah, was driving along Highlands Road, Mariah,
02:26when another vehicle pulled in front of his car, forcing him to stop.
02:31Walker raised an alarm, pulled aside, and ran into some nearby bushes where he was shot multiple times.
02:38He died on the spot.
02:40He is Tobago's fourth murder victim, the first during the current state of emergency.
