The wife of a slain soldier believes that his murder on Sunday night was as a result of where they live.


TV6 News spoke with Naynah Greene at her home at Upper La Puerta Avenue, Diego Martin home on Monday, a few feet from where the murder occurred.

00:00 Police said that around 9.45pm, Nikolai Denapoli Green, 27, a member of the Trinidad and Tobago
00:08 Regiment, was among a group of men liming near a garage opposite his home when a silver
00:13 car, make and registration unknown, stopped near the group.
00:17 Two men armed with guns alighted from the vehicle and opened fire.
00:21 Green was shot several times above the upper body and died on the spot.
00:24 Three others, Tevin Payne, 27, Jeremiah Gloucester, 20, and Jordan McMillan, 18, were also struck.
00:32 The injured men sustained injuries to their thighs and legs and were taken to the St.
00:36 James Hospital where they are listed in stable condition.
00:41 Officers from the Police Crime Scene Unit and Region 1 Homicide Bureau also visited
00:46 the scene which they examined for evidence.
00:49 Forty-five spent assault rifle shell casings were discovered at the scene.
00:55 The soldier's body was removed just after 1am and brought to the Forensic Science Center
01:00 in Federation Park where an autopsy was expected to have been done by either today or tomorrow
01:07 as his family wanted him laid to rest as quickly as possible in keeping with his Islamic faith.

01:17 She said she was always concerned about his safety but would have not expected that his

01:33 At the end of the day, we live in a ghetto, we're not living in, you know, and he have
01:40 friends, everybody have friends that might be, but I still didn't expect it.
01:46 It was just, I feel like everybody in Trinidad just have this thought that you never know
01:52 what could happen because innocent people is be dying everyday but you don't expect
01:55 it to happen to you.
