00:01Tournament organizer Karin Forbes says for the 11th edition of the Kick It With Karin competition, she's expecting 15 teams
00:08from Trinidad.
00:10It's an event known for organization, structure, vibes, a family environment, and football, and hence it continues to grow.
00:18After starting with eight clubs, it's now expanded to over 100 teams over the course of two days.
00:24It's a lot of work. Economically, it's calling for more collateral, and it's something that forces me now to think
00:32outside the box and go even harder on the ground to be able to secure sponsorship.
00:39And, you know, sometimes some sponsorships are not monetary, so we have to be very strategic in what we do.
00:45That's why we sell stuff on the day, so we can facilitate for the next year.
00:49She indicated the defending champions will be returning.
00:52In the open category, yes, the defending champions for Signal Hill alumni will be returning.
00:59We have one other team coming on board in the alumni category, Shigwana's presentation, for the first time coming up
01:07to Tobago to participate in the tournament.
01:10And then, of course, we have nine academies coming in on the island, holding a capacity of basically 40 to
01:1960 persons, which, on average, is really good for each accommodation place that those teams will be hosted.
01:27There are a few changes to the 11th edition of the competition, including the location.
01:32For the ninth edition, so from one year to nine years, I have been keeping the tournament in my home
01:38village, which is Plymouth Recreational Ground.
01:41But what happened is that the tournament has now outgrown Plymouth.
01:45So I now move to a different location, which is Shaw Park Recreational Ground, and that's more or less closely
01:52capital of Scarborough.
01:54And the purpose of doing that is because Shaw Park has the space capacity to be able to hold the
01:59tournament now.
01:59After 11 competitions, Forbes has no intentions of slowing down as she enjoys what she does.
02:06I think being able to put on a high-level, successful tournament, also building communities, giving back to Tobago and
02:15the communities at large, and also impacting the economy where sports tourism is concerned.
02:21The competition is set to take place on the 30th and the 31st of May.
