It's not just Dwayne Bravo who's disappointed following the omission of Darren Bravo from the West Indies ODI squad for the three matches against England next month in the Caribbean.

Cricket commentator Colin Murray too has taken a shot at the selectors for leaving out the leading run-scorer in the Regional Super50.

Transcript
00:00 After the West Indies ODI squad was named for next month's three-match series against
00:04 England, there were some who were unhappy following the omission of Darren Bravo.
00:09 Included in that group is cricket commentator Colin Murray, who feels injustice has been
00:12 done to the lad from Santa Cruz, also the home of Brian Lara.
00:16 I mean, honestly, you look at what Darren Bravo has achieved, not only this year but
00:21 in the last Super 50.
00:24 He was the leading run scorer, averaging 83.
00:29 How is it possible to leave out somebody like that?
00:32 And you're picking other guys in the middle order who's averaging 17 and 18 with one-third
00:38 of the runs.
00:39 You know, it just does not make sense.
00:41 Bravo will be 38 when the next World Cup takes place on the African continent.
00:46 Murray says even if the selectors omitted the left-hander because of age, valuable points
00:50 are required along the way to qualify for the prestigious tournament.
00:54 According to the cricket analyst, that's where experience comes in.
00:58 Well, by my calculation, that World Cup is four years away.
01:00 So you have time.
01:02 You have time.
01:03 It's not that it's a must that you must look at the youngsters now.
01:08 You need to pick a team that will win the series or various series leading up to 2027
01:15 because what you need to do is ensure that when 2027 comes around, that your ranking
01:21 is good enough that you will be automatically into the World Cup, that you don't have to
01:26 play a qualifying series.
01:27 Focusing on Aqeel Hussain, Murray has no problem with a left-arm spinner being excluded.
01:32 Such was the case earlier this year when India played three ODIs in the Caribbean.
01:36 To me, it was a straight case of either him or Moti, Gudikesh Moti.
01:41 I like Moti.
01:42 I think Moti's a good cricketer.
01:44 He's just two years younger than Aqeel, but here, age doesn't matter.
01:48 So it was dependent to me on what was the makeup of the team.
01:54 Would you have gone for two left-arm orthodox spinners, which would have meant you either
01:59 leave out a quickie or you leave out another batsman?
02:02 Murray is somewhat confused and wants to know if the selectors are choosing a side for the
02:06 England series or rebuilding for the next World Cup.
02:09 What message are the selectors sending?
02:12 You're saying that you're looking at a team for the 2027 World Cup.
02:17 So you've left out the 34-year-old Bravo.
02:20 However, you've included the 33-year-old Otley and the 32-year-old Dorich.
02:25 Again, I don't have too much of a problem with it because Otley performed well, Dorich
02:31 performed well, but you're not sending the right message.
02:35 If you're talking building, then give a youngster.
02:38 Instead of Otley, bring a youngster.
02:40 What about Hamilton?
02:41 He's younger than Dorich.
02:42 He performed well in the Super 50.
02:45 Why not pick him?
02:46 The West Indies have had a tough time of late in ODIs and missed out on the World Cup.
02:52 So who's going to win the upcoming series?
02:54 It's going to be tight.
02:55 You know, England have made a lot of changes because of their World Cup, because of their
02:59 disastrous World Cup.
03:01 They have made some changes.
03:02 So it's going to be tight.
03:03 I think playing at home, I would like to think that West Indies would have the edge and may
03:09 just pip it maybe to one, you know, but who knows?
03:14 It can go either way.
03:15 The first two ODIs on December 3rd and 6th will be played in Antigua, with the last one
03:21 in Barbados on the 9th.
03:23 The teams then play five T20 internationals.
