00:00Hello and welcome. Good evening. Namaskara. You're joining us live here for a special edition of Super 6.
00:05I'm Akshita Nanda Gopal. You can see I'm standing right in front of the Vidant Sauda.
00:09It's a cloudy day, stormy, going to rain any moment now. But why are we here?
00:14Over the next one hour, from the seat of power here at the Vidant Sauda in Bengaluru,
00:19I'm going to be getting you a special broadcast.
00:22Yes, it's clear that D.K. Shiv Kumar is the next Chief Minister of Karnataka
00:26and all likelihood taking over the earth. There could be a change in those plans.
00:28But beyond that, a whole number of twists and turns that are playing out right now.
00:33Sidra Maya seeking his slice of the power pie, trying to be, at this point, a shadow Chief Minister.
00:39Will that happen? Will he be successful or not?
00:42That's our top focus here on this edition of Super 6.
00:44So join me and my colleagues as we get you all the live updates that will be coming in on
00:49this broadcast.
00:50We're going to be having our political panel with us as well to get you all the political action of
00:55what's playing out.
00:55When is the swearing in? We'll get you those details as well. Let's begin.
00:58With the headlines.
01:10Big scoop on Sidra Maya's meeting with Rahul Gandhi.
01:14Sidhu demands plump pose for Sanya Tindra, wants medical education, backward class, birth or industry and water resources ministry for
01:22sun.
01:27The time has come for DKS to take over.
01:30Key Congress MLA's meet tomorrow at 4 p.m. in Bengaluru.
01:33DKS meets Rahul Gandhi, Kharki and Venu Gopal over new cabinet members.
01:44Law catches up with Visha's in-laws.
01:46CBI gets five-day custody of husband Samarth and mother-in-law Giribala Singh.
01:57Supreme Court poses tough questions to centre over NEET.
02:01League gate asks, how did failure occur despite monitoring notice issued to Education Ministry?
02:05NTA claims to be taking issue of exam integrities seriously.
02:1422-year-old Indian student from Gujarat stabbed to death in Canada.
02:19Vidhi Megha was attacked in broad daylight during an attempted robbery.
02:30And after poor show by Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026 skipper Hardik Pandya reportedly quits team.
02:36Owners and management have been informed that he doesn't want to continue with the team.
03:03Okay, let's begin with the big breaking news that's coming in as we report from the Vidan Sauda here
03:07and getting you all the action from Bengaluru.
03:09Remember, there's a whole lot of meetings happening right now in Delhi as well.
03:14And that's because Sidramaya has been meeting with the high command.
03:17We've now got an exclusive scoop here on India today
03:20on exactly what are the demands being put forth by Sidramaya.
03:23He's not backing down.
03:24We've been telling you from this morning about portfolios, cabinet births,
03:28all of that that he's been pushing for.
03:30Guess what? It doesn't stop there.
03:31He's now asked for a coordination committee to head a coordination committee.
03:36The obvious question that comes up is,
03:38why do you need a coordination committee in a government
03:40that's not formed over two allies coming together?
03:44It's not a coalition government who need a coordination committee.
03:46But let's get to those details.
03:48Joining me on this very, very windy day in Bengaluru,
03:51we've got Nagarjan Dwarkanath.
03:52The weather changes very quickly here, as does the politics.
03:55The political weather and the actual weather has changed.
03:58It's almost the monsoon time here.
04:00We have got darker clouds.
04:01But what's important is the big, big development.
04:04Akashitar, the former chief minister of the caretaker CM,
04:08Sidramaya has asked for a coordination committee.
04:11That's the pitch he's made before the high command.
04:13And it's quite bizarre and shocking also.
04:16The previous coordination committee was in 2018
04:18in a coalition government between the Congress and the GDS.
04:21Which makes sense.
04:22Yes, absolutely.
04:23Here, I mean...
04:24With 140-odd MLAs, a single-party majority,
04:27how do you have a coordination committee?
04:29And I'm sure that high command is rejecting this.
04:32For a fact, when I spoke to my sources,
04:33they said high command is surprised as well.
04:35How can this pitch come through with the stature of a man of Sidramaya?
04:39So, it's going to be rejected.
04:41But however, this was a move to checkmate DK Shufkumar.
04:44They wanted to ensure that DK won't have a complete free play of power.
04:49And high command, as we said,
04:51are still contemplating to have deputy chief ministers or not.
04:54If we don't have deputy chief minister,
04:56Sidramaya feels that DK Shufkumar has a complete free path to the government.
05:00He's the chief minister.
05:01Absolutely.
05:02And that's the reason this coordination committee idea becomes interesting.
05:05So, what does the coordination committee do?
05:07It's a bridge between the government and the party
05:10with the chairman of the coordination committee.
05:12That's another power center of the chief minister.
05:14So, if an MLA, if I'm the MLA,
05:16if I have grievances with the CM,
05:18I can run to the coordination committee saying
05:19CM is not allocating constituency funds
05:22and the coordination committee will become like a supreme committee
05:25where they can talk to the high command directly,
05:27solve grievances, summon people, summon MLAs.
05:30It can't be that.
05:32And it becomes official.
05:33It becomes official body or the committee.
05:35where the party leadership will have to now run
05:37to the coordination committee.
05:39So, there'll be three power centers.
05:40Chief minister, party president and the coordination committee.
05:43And now the high command is all set to reject this idea
05:45and telling Sidramaya,
05:46Mr. Sidramaya, we can accommodate only this much.
05:49I think this is a bit too much.
05:51Okay.
05:51So, let's be very clear from what Naga tells us.
05:53This is an idea floated by Sidramaya.
05:55This is what he wants.
05:56The high command at this point hasn't accepted it at all for obvious reasons
06:00because like he said, it creates three power centers.
06:02You can only imagine the mess that that makes.
06:04Let me bring in Sagai.
06:05Sagai, come over here and take us through what happened the last time
06:08we saw this kind of a coordination committee.
06:10That time it was legit because you had Congress and JDS together forming.
06:14Of course, the government didn't last.
06:15So, the coordination committee clearly failed there.
06:18What happened then?
06:20And, you know, how could there be any reasoning
06:22that justifies a coordination committee today?
06:24It was a power center.
06:25Power center of Sidramaya.
06:26Sidramaya had an office.
06:28He had a cabinet rank in the government
06:30and he had a huge office inside Vidhan Sauda.
06:33So, he was a person where he used to address the issues of the Congress MLA.
06:37If nothing is working because...
06:39Like a green one step.
06:39Yes, chief minister was H.D. Kumaswami.
06:42And, if you are not giving money, you are not giving...
06:45Taking care of the MLA's of Congress,
06:46they will go ahead and address to Sidramaya.
06:48Sidramaya is a person who will escalate with high command
06:52and high command return to talk to H.D. Kumaswami.
06:54So, this was a network.
06:55Now, you have a KPCC president who can do that
06:58and you also have a general secretary of Congress
07:00who is in charge of Congress who can do that.
07:02Why do you require one more power center?
07:06As Nagarjun was telling you,
07:07actually to control DK Shukumar
07:10and definitely I think Congress which knows that
07:13probably because of that particular power center,
07:15because of that coordination committee
07:17headed by Chairman Sidramaya,
07:20the alliance government allegedly collapsed
07:22according to few Congress leaders.
07:24And I don't think so they're going to fall in that particular trap
07:28this time when you have a brutal majority in Karnataka
07:32and you have a strong leader, strong chief minister.
07:35If at all, if it's DK Shukumar, the chief minister,
07:37he's a strong chief minister
07:38who have already bulldozed many leaders
07:40who has taken care of opposition.
07:42Definitely, I don't think so you require one
07:44as of now in the state of Karnataka.
07:46Okay, let me just run our viewers through all of the demands.
07:50Agar, I'll come to you.
07:51Let's just run our viewers through the demands.
07:52We're going to put up the graphics here next to me
07:54of exactly what Sidramaya's demands have been.
07:58First is of 15 aides in the Karnataka cabinet.
08:01So he wants all of his loyalists to be rewarded
08:04and ensure that he has a say in the cabinet.
08:06So 15 leaders, according to him,
08:08should be accommodating the Karnataka cabinet.
08:10What will that translate to?
08:11That DK Shukumar has no control whatsoever.
08:14So DK Shukumar has said exactly that.
08:16He says, give me a free hand in cabinet selection.
08:19You cannot go ahead and put terms and conditions.
08:21There's no way I can then run this government.
08:24Sidramaya has also said that some of his aides
08:27should be made deputy chief ministers.
08:29There's a lot of talk.
08:30Two deputy CMs, three deputy CMs, even four deputy CMs.
08:33DK Shukumar has said, nothing doing.
08:35There will be no deputy CMs.
08:36Let me run this government.
08:38And there should be no number twos right now.
08:40I should be clear number one.
08:41No question of anyone trying to eat into my power
08:44or trying to call the shots.
08:45Sidramaya has also demanded that the Congress president,
08:48the KPCC chief, extremely powerful position,
08:51that too should go to one of his aides.
08:53There's right now talk of Satish Jarki Holi,
08:55who is very much, by the way, a Sidramaya loyalist.
08:57And then on the other hand,
08:59DK Shukumar has said, absolutely not,
09:01that it should be someone who is a consensus candidate,
09:04not just one leader's perspective should be considered.
09:08This is what's been playing out right now.
09:11As much as everyone in credit were due,
09:13a high command has ensured a smooth transition of power
09:15between Sidramaya and DK Shukumar.
09:17But now comes the other big challenge.
09:20What am I talking about?
09:21The cabinet.
09:22And the fact that you have all of them right now
09:26continuing with their parlays.
09:28Sidramaya and DK Shukumar know full well the decision
09:29is being taken in Delhi,
09:30which is why they've been camped in Delhi.
09:32Sidramaya is expected back any time now.
09:35And right now,
09:36if the high command doesn't manage to iron out this mess,
09:39what will happen?
09:39You'll have Sidramaya and DK Shukumar,
09:42two power centers within the Congress.
09:44DK Shukumar may be chief minister.
09:46Sidramaya is attempting to be a shadow CM.
09:49And if that happens,
09:50then DK Shukumar is effectively powerless
09:52right up until 2028.
09:54The honours is on the high command
09:55to figure this one out.
10:02Just hours after resigning as Karnataka chief minister,
10:05Sidramaya landed in Delhi for crucial consultations
10:08with the Congress leadership.
10:10The veteran leader held a one-on-one meeting
10:12with Rahul Gandhi
10:13and separately met Congress Chief Malik Arjun Khadge,
10:16K.C. Venu Gopal,
10:17and DK Shukumar.
10:19The meetings come at a time
10:20when the Congress is trying to ensure
10:21a smooth transition of power in Karnataka.
10:26In visuals packed with political messaging,
10:29Sidramaya and DK Shukumar
10:30were seen having lunch together in Delhi.
10:33The lunch meet,
10:34attended by former Karnataka minister K.H. Muniyappa,
10:36is being seen as a public show of unity
10:39after months of intense power tussle
10:41between the two camps.
10:42From breakfast politics in Bengaluru,
10:45the Congress has now moved
10:46to lunch diplomacy in Delhi.
10:50Sources say Sidramaya handed over
10:51a letter to Rahul Gandhi
10:52containing key political demands.
10:55The list reportedly included names
10:57for Rajasaba seats
10:58and MLC nominations.
11:01Sources also say that Sidramaya
11:02pushed for key portfolios
11:04for his son Yatindra Sidramaya
11:06in the new cabinet.
11:07Among the ministries discussed
11:09were medical education,
11:10industries,
11:11backward classes,
11:12and water resources.
11:16Congress's Karnataka Inchaj
11:17Randeep Surjewala
11:18described the Rahul Sidramaya meeting
11:20as fruitful
11:21and insisted that the transition
11:23of leadership would be smooth.
11:24But significantly,
11:26when asked about Sidramaya's
11:27possible national role,
11:28Surjewala said that clarity
11:30would emerge in the coming days.
11:32Sidramaya ji,
11:35aaj Rahul ji se mile.
11:36It was a very pleasant meeting.
11:40And they discussed
11:41multiple political issues.
11:43I don't have anything
11:44to say further.
11:45Sir, is he ready to come to Delhi
11:46is the question.
11:48Is he convinced about that?
11:49We will tell you
11:50in days to come.
11:53That statement assumes significance
11:54because Sidramaya
11:56had only hours before
11:57publicly rejected
11:58the Congress leadership's
11:59reported push
12:00to move to Delhi.
12:01Sidramaya says
12:03he wanted to continue
12:04working in Karnataka.
12:06For the Congress
12:07high command,
12:08the former chief minister
12:09remains a crucial
12:10political asset.
12:12Meanwhile,
12:12the focus has shifted
12:13to the shape
12:14of D.K.
12:15Shivakomar's government.
12:16Sources say
12:17that the Congress leadership
12:18is considering appointing
12:19two deputy chief ministers
12:21likely to represent
12:22the Lingayat
12:23and Dalit communities
12:24to maintain
12:25the caste
12:25and regional balance.
12:27Sources also say
12:28that K.C. Venu Gopal
12:29spoke to senior leader
12:30Satish Charki Holi
12:31regarding either
12:32taking over
12:33as Karnataka Congress
12:34chief
12:34or joining the cabinet.
12:51Meanwhile,
12:52Governor
12:52Thawachand Gailot
12:53has officially accepted
12:54Sidramaya's resignation,
12:56making him the
12:56caretaker chief minister
12:57and clearing the
12:58text for Shivakomar's
12:59swearing-in.
13:01D.K. Shivakomar
13:02also separately met
13:03Malikarjun Khadge
13:04and is set to have
13:05discussed cabinet
13:06formation
13:06and power-sharing
13:07arrangements.
13:09The Congress
13:10Legislature Party
13:11meeting is scheduled
13:12for 4 p.m.
13:13on the 30th of May
13:13where D.K. Shivakomar
13:15is expected to be
13:16formally elected
13:16as their leader.
13:18We have a CLP meeting
13:20tomorrow.
13:21Atuji Walamji,
13:22both of them are coming
13:24and our secretaries
13:25also will be here.
13:27They will conduct
13:28with their presence,
13:29we will conduct
13:30a CLP meeting.
13:32and then
13:34there will be
13:35process will be there.
13:37Sources say
13:38May 31st,
13:39June 1st
13:39and June 3rd
13:40are being considered
13:41for the oath-taking
13:42ceremony.
13:44But even as
13:45D.K. Shivakomar
13:46prepares to finally
13:47take charge,
13:48the Congress
13:49High Command
13:49faces the bigger
13:50challenge of
13:51balancing Sidramaya's
13:52towering influence
13:53with the new
13:54power structure
13:54in Karnataka.
13:56With Akshita,
13:57Nagarjun,
13:57Sagai,
13:58Apurva and
13:58Anaga in
13:59Bengaluru,
14:00Vera Report,
14:01India Today.
14:03Okay, so as
14:04we get you
14:04all the action
14:05here,
14:05you can make
14:06out this
14:07sudden turn
14:08in weather.
14:08You know,
14:09we set up
14:09a beautiful
14:09frame of
14:10the Vidant
14:10Soudha,
14:11honestly,
14:11where we
14:12thought we'll
14:12show off
14:13exactly what
14:14this beautiful
14:15iconic monument
14:15is.
14:16But Bengaluru
14:16decided to be
14:17Bengaluru on us.
14:18And therefore,
14:19suddenly the
14:20turn of weather,
14:21it looks like
14:21it's going to
14:22pour down
14:23cats and dogs
14:24any time now.
14:25But we're
14:25fully prepared.
14:26We're ensured
14:27that we're inside
14:27the safe confines
14:28of the Vidant
14:29Soudha.
14:29Much like the
14:30politics in
14:31Karnataka,
14:32the weather
14:33too keeps
14:33changing this
14:34way and that.
14:35So yes,
14:35we're tracking
14:36the political
14:36twists and
14:37turns.
14:37We're also
14:38tracking the
14:39sudden weather
14:39change.
14:40I'm enjoying
14:40it after the
14:41heat wave in
14:42Delhi.
14:42But let's
14:42open this up.
14:43What's happening
14:44in Karnataka
14:44right now?
14:45And considering
14:46that we've been
14:47talking about the
14:48Karnataka Game
14:48of Thrones for so
14:49long, is it all
14:51set to end
14:51finally?
14:52Well, we thought
14:53it's ended,
14:53honestly.
14:54But then you
14:54have all of
14:55these twists and
14:55turns of what's
14:56happening in Delhi.
14:57Demands,
14:58counter-demands
14:58and what not.
14:59Let me bring in
15:00our guests here.
15:01Namaskara.
15:02Lovely weather
15:03that your city
15:04has.
15:04It's absolutely
15:05amazing.
15:06Lovely weather.
15:09Oh my God.
15:10You may have
15:11guessed exactly
15:12who the gentleman
15:12is here with me.
15:14Mr. Nagaraj Yadav,
15:15Congress, MLC.
15:16Namaskara, sir.
15:16Thank you for
15:17joining us.
15:17We have Mr. Vijay
15:18Prasad, spokesperson
15:19of BJP Karnataka.
15:21Namaskara, sir.
15:22And we have
15:23Anurag Naidu,
15:24political analyst
15:24with us.
15:25I think the
15:25weather has
15:26definitely lightened
15:26all of our moods.
15:28Yeah.
15:28But Mr. Yadav,
15:29what's happening?
15:29Like the weather
15:30in the Congress,
15:31there seems to be
15:31chaos.
15:32No chaos.
15:32Everything is cool.
15:34People thought
15:34they're going to be
15:35chaos.
15:35They're disappointed
15:36today.
15:37No, no, no.
15:37No chaos at all.
15:38No chaos in the
15:39transition.
15:39But what's happening
15:40in Delhi, sir?
15:41Nothing is happening.
15:41Why are Sidra Maya
15:42and GK Shivkumar
15:42both in Delhi
15:43lobbying right now?
15:44Why should not
15:44go?
15:45Sidra Maya
15:45has gone back
15:46to Delhi to
15:46thank the people
15:47of high command.
15:48ask for a
15:48coordination committee?
15:50No, no, no.
15:50He never asked
15:50for anything.
15:51He's not a person
15:52to ask for anything
15:53in life.
15:53That is to understand.
15:54First of all,
15:55I would like to
15:55thank him for
15:56giving such a
15:57good governance
15:57to the state
15:57of Karnataka
15:58as such.
15:59One of the
15:59model chief
16:00ministers of
16:00the country
16:01today.
16:01Why will he
16:02ask for
16:02something else?
16:03So many
16:03things are offered
16:04for him.
16:04Is he not
16:04asking for a post
16:05for his son?
16:05He's a man
16:06of not opportunities.
16:07He's a man
16:07of commitment
16:08as such.
16:08He's not asking
16:09a post for his
16:10son?
16:10He never put
16:12an application
16:12for his son
16:13or for himself
16:14any given
16:14Why is Yathindra
16:15Siddhra Maya with
16:15him in Delhi?
16:16Why should not
16:16he go?
16:17Both the family,
16:18everybody are
16:18thankful.
16:19They want to
16:19go and thank
16:19Sonia Gandhi
16:20and Rahul Gandhi
16:21and Malik
16:21for giving
16:22an opportunity
16:23for eight
16:23years to be
16:24the chief
16:24minister here.
16:25That's all
16:25it is.
16:26Of course,
16:27he's thankful
16:27for the people
16:28of Karnataka
16:28and he's thankful
16:29for the high
16:29command as such
16:30and he's got
16:30wonderful
16:31governance as such.
16:32He's not resigned
16:33like any other
16:34BJP chief ministers
16:35with allegations
16:36he's not resigned.
16:37He's resigned
16:37only because
16:38he has given
16:39a word
16:39he has given
16:40a word
16:41that the day
16:41Rahul Gandhi
16:42or I come on
16:43ask him to resign
16:43and give an opportunity
16:44to somebody else
16:45he has resigned it.
16:46It's not like
16:46Adenapur cried
16:47and went to the
16:49governor's place
16:49as such
16:50he was in fact
16:51sacked.
16:52Okay.
16:52Mr. Vijay Prasad
16:53you want to respond?
16:54See, yeah, yeah.
16:54See, Akshata
16:55the weather is gloomy
16:56here.
16:57Okay.
16:58Karnataka
16:58is seeing this gloomy
17:00weather for the last
17:00three years
17:01under Congress
17:01government.
17:02Okay.
17:03There is no
17:04brightness at all.
17:05It's a beautiful weather.
17:05It's a beautiful weather
17:06but the Karnataka
17:08is under cloud.
17:08The Karnataka
17:10is under cloud
17:11for the last
17:11three years.
17:12One minute.
17:13I won't go.
17:14Just because
17:14you're in opposition
17:15you need not
17:15oppose everything.
17:16Everything is such.
17:17I only request
17:18today is going to be
17:19celebration
17:19and new chief minister
17:20is coming
17:21and dynamic
17:21chief minister
17:22is coming.
17:22You should know
17:23what you do.
17:24Okay.
17:24Let me finish.
17:26Finish.
17:26See, what is happening
17:28is it is not
17:28our concern
17:29who is going
17:30to be the chief minister.
17:31The concern is
17:32for the state
17:32of Karnataka.
17:33See, Karnataka
17:34under the Congress
17:35rule
17:36has gone backwards now.
17:37See, I want to ask
17:39the Congress
17:39spokesperson
17:40whether is he aware
17:42that the revenue
17:44deficit is around
17:4520,000 crores
17:46the liabilities
17:49is around
17:50touching around
17:518 lakh crores.
17:52I would like to answer
17:53right away now.
17:54No, no, no.
17:54Right away now.
17:55Okay, one point.
17:56Okay, one point at a time.
17:57Why, Mr. Prasad?
17:58No, no.
17:58We'll let him answer
17:59that first.
17:59No, let me tell you.
18:00Whatever you've spoken
18:01about the loans
18:02that have been borrowed,
18:03you should not remember
18:045 lakh 30,000 crores
18:06of borrowed money
18:07by the Bhamayi government.
18:09We have to clear
18:092.5 lakh crores
18:10of bills
18:11which have been kept
18:11pending with us.
18:12Second thing I tell you today,
18:13we are less than
18:153% of the
18:17FRBC
18:17we have
18:18the deficit.
18:19One minute.
18:20Second thing I tell you.
18:21Rahul Gandhi,
18:21Nagraj Yadav,
18:22the spokesperson
18:23is telling the lies.
18:25Let me put forth
18:25my punch here.
18:26Let me put forth
18:27my punch here.
18:28Let me put forth
18:29my punch here.
18:29GSTP
18:30we are less than
18:3125%.
18:31Congress?
18:32Okay, time out.
18:33It's starting to close.
18:35Sir, time out.
18:35It's raining.
18:36We'll go up.
18:37Let's go up.
18:38Let's go up.
18:39I think we'll move up
18:40because it's starting to rain
18:41and we want to continue
18:42this broadcast
18:43because you know
18:44you're hearing right
18:45now from the BJP
18:46and the Congress
18:47but like I said
18:47Bengaluru weather
18:48is extremely unpredictable.
18:50You can never really say
18:51what's going to come your way
18:52so we were fully prepared
18:53with the plan B
18:54will go inside
18:55the Vedansdhada.
18:57Okay, since I had a time out
18:59Anurag,
18:59would you like to jump in
19:01into this conversation
19:01right now?
19:02You come to the center.
19:04You stand between
19:05the BJP and Congress.
19:06Go ahead.
19:07Look, look, look.
19:08I'll try to be
19:09as neutral as possible
19:10but let me tell you
19:12today's political scenario
19:13it's too good to be true.
19:15Now, I don't believe
19:16a chief minister
19:18of the state of Sidoramaya
19:19would walk away
19:20so silently
19:21and so clinically.
19:22He's not.
19:23His statement,
19:24the news
19:25that we should be focusing on
19:26that I will be active
19:28in politics,
19:29I will be in Karnataka
19:30till my last breath
19:31to fight the communal forces.
19:33Which is,
19:34absolutely.
19:35That's a good sign.
19:36Absolutely.
19:36I'm not opposing that.
19:38That is,
19:39he's emphasizing
19:40his relevance
19:41and his activity
19:42within the Congress
19:43and if he stays,
19:45if he decides to stay
19:46and which he has clarified,
19:47as an MLA in Bangalore,
19:49he's another power center
19:50and clearly a set of ministers
19:52and MLAs
19:53who will walk around him
19:54always.
19:54Now, will D.K. Shukumar be,
19:57so knowing D.K. Shukumar,
19:58he's one man
19:59who likes autonomy.
20:00He likes to have his own space
20:02to do the development.
20:03We have a sense of sluggishness
20:05in the government
20:06for the last four,
20:06three years.
20:07There is a sense of slowdown
20:08which people are also telling
20:11that after D.K. Shukumar coming in,
20:13there will be acceleration.
20:14Now, will there be acceleration
20:15with the clutches
20:16onto his hand,
20:16everything?
20:17That's a question
20:17that we need to watch out for
20:18and 2028 election,
20:21well, is it going to be smooth?
20:23Can you guarantee
20:24Congress will not have any factions?
20:25Too many leaders
20:26within Congress,
20:27they're all gone leaders.
20:28Will they work
20:29within one another?
20:29No, because I clubbed the question, sir.
20:30I know that Mr. Prasad
20:31also has questions.
20:32I know he also has questions.
20:34No, let me complete it off now.
20:36Sir, it's almost two versus one.
20:41Nagraj, I think your time is up.
20:43Let me put forth my points here.
20:46Sir, it has to be one of the two.
20:47No, go ahead, Mr. Prasad.
20:49Mr. Prasad, see,
20:51whatever the Congress
20:52has done in the last three years,
20:53okay,
20:54one drain,
20:55one drain,
20:57the city goes under river,
20:58the city goes under the water.
21:00So, we have to,
21:02including Nagraj,
21:03we have to agree with that.
21:04Okay, that is one thing.
21:05But that every government
21:06is to blame, sir.
21:07Honestly, nobody has done
21:08anything for Pengaduru.
21:09See, now, having said that,
21:09having said that,
21:11having said that,
21:12having said that,
21:13let us remember the Congress
21:15that they have
21:16the absolute majority.
21:17They have the absolute majority.
21:18Remove that, sir.
21:19They have the absolute majority
21:20and they could have done
21:23so much of things
21:23in the last three years.
21:25And where has the state gone?
21:26The state has gone
21:27into the financial stress.
21:28Has the government
21:30taken off
21:31in the last three years?
21:32No, the government
21:32has not taken off
21:33in the last three years.
21:34You take the farmers issue,
21:36you take the fertilizers issue,
21:37you take the infrastructure
21:39and you,
21:40please remember that,
21:41please remember that,
21:42the Karnataka government
21:43under the Congress rule,
21:45they have spent
21:46only 40%
21:47on the capital expenditure.
21:49None.
21:50They have not done
21:51anything on the
21:52asset creation at all.
21:53And see,
21:54today,
21:55we are standing in Bangalore,
21:56we are standing in Bangalore,
21:58Bangalore contributes
21:59almost around
22:0040% to the state's economy.
22:03And today,
22:04we should be discussing
22:05about,
22:05we should be discussing
22:06about artificial intelligence,
22:09artificial semiconductor,
22:11startups.
22:12So,
22:12what are we discussing
22:13in Bangalore today?
22:14We are discussing
22:15about debt,
22:15no infrastructure.
22:15No, as governance,
22:16no infrastructure.
22:17No infrastructure.
22:18Okay, now let me say
22:19the other response.
22:19He's been very patient.
22:21He's been very patient.
22:22Go ahead.
22:22Two questions, sir.
22:23that came up.
22:24First thing came up,
22:25it was whatever our dear friend.
22:26DK Shukumar not being
22:27having power in Sidramaya's
22:28steps in.
22:28You were talking about
22:29power center as such.
22:30There is no question
22:31of two power centers as such.
22:32DK Shukumar and Sidramaya
22:34are working together.
22:36Collectively,
22:36they worked in the party.
22:37They defeated BGP
22:38and came back to power.
22:40And as the words were given
22:41to the people of Karnataka,
22:42the manifesto was being
22:43implemented and we have
22:45not deviated from
22:46our manifesto at all.
22:47And DK Shukumar stood
22:48like a rock with Sidramaya
22:50for three years as such.
22:51Now it is Sidramaya.
22:53Why has there been a change
22:55in chief minister?
22:55Because DK Shukumar asked for it.
22:57Let me complete it two more years.
22:59Sidramaya has blessed him
23:00to be the chief minister.
23:01And if the high command
23:02decides DK Shukumar
23:03is the chief minister man
23:04and he'll be the man
23:05with all the people's support
23:06as such.
23:07One is that.
23:08The second part is telling
23:09DK Shukumar was the minister
23:10in charge of Bangalore
23:11and wonderful event taken.
23:12First, we believed in
23:13decentralization of power as such.
23:15We have created GBA today.
23:17We want Bangalore to be
23:18one of the fastest growing
23:20city in the world
23:20and being given five corporations.
23:23We are going to go before
23:23the people.
23:24People will teach them
23:25a lesson to BJP
23:26because they are the one
23:27who ruined Bangalore,
23:27I'll tell you.
23:28They are talking about floods.
23:29What happened to the
23:30demo flood when these people
23:31are there?
23:32They are not even...
23:33I'm telling...
23:34I'm talking about what you did.
23:35You didn't even work.
23:36I'll tell you.
23:37Why did the people defeat you?
23:38Why did the people
23:39put you to 65?
23:40What was the reason
23:41for people defeating you?
23:42Why did the people defeat you?
23:44In five years,
23:45they had to reach
23:45a minister for what reason?
23:46They couldn't have
23:47a proper Bangalore
23:50city development minister
23:51in the state of Karnataka.
23:53Right now,
23:53it's pouring, sir.
23:54In half and half from now,
23:55will it be flooded or no?
23:56No, no.
23:57My office on the ground level
23:59will see that everything
24:00has been done properly.
24:01If there is something
24:02is wrong,
24:02it's only because
24:03of the misgovernance
24:04of BJP which they have done.
24:05We are trying to correct it now.
24:06It is taken.
24:07Either one side,
24:08I'll tell you.
24:08Bamae borrowed
24:09left, right, center.
24:11They borrowed.
24:12Left, right, center.
24:13They borrowed.
24:14And upon that,
24:14they put Bangalore
24:15into a shabby position.
24:16Today, you see
24:17entire situation in Bangalore,
24:18whether it's rain,
24:19whether it's traffic,
24:20whether it's civic issues,
24:22BJP completely failed.
24:23And we are trying
24:24to bring it back.
24:25And we have put an effort
24:26to bring it back as such.
24:27Second thing,
24:27I'll tell you,
24:28the finances of Karnataka
24:29we are talking.
24:30We are not done anything
24:31wrong against...
24:31Mr. Krasansman.
24:32Let him speak in.
24:33Then you can answer, sir.
24:34Sir, now, now...
24:35You can take me to my...
24:36Okay, okay.
24:37I'm in the ruling party.
24:38Okay, okay.
24:40You can't...
24:40At least snatch away my voice, right?
24:42Okay.
24:42So, now, having said that,
24:44having said that,
24:45now,
24:46Congress promised
24:47brand Bangalore room.
24:49So,
24:50what did they...
24:50What is Bangalore now?
24:52Under construction Bangalore room.
24:54Under construction Bangalore room.
24:56Under construction...
24:56But under construction is good,
24:57sir.
24:58Under construction for the last three years.
25:01Under construction for the last three years.
25:03See, one thing I would like to see...
25:04No, no, no.
25:05That's all the BJP talks
25:06and they have all false promises as such.
25:09Congress has never worked on this.
25:12Congress has never worked on the infrastructure.
25:14One infrastructure.
25:15Whatever...
25:15They say central law for Metro work.
25:17We have company.
25:20They're saying both sides.
25:21Karnataka hasn't done anything.
25:24I would like to bring in...
25:26Major money spent by the Karnataka government exchequer.
25:29Okay.
25:29One minute in time.
25:29Yes, yes, yes.
25:30One minute in time, sir.
25:31Sir, one second.
25:32One major important thing here is,
25:34in the Congress rule in the last three years,
25:38appeasement politics has increased to the highest level.
25:39Oh, my God.
25:40Again, it's a...
25:41Highest level.
25:42Increased to the highest level.
25:43Whatever the decision taken by the Congress government
25:47in the last three years
25:48is from the point of vote bank politics.
25:51Vote bank politics.
25:52See, whenever the Congress takes a decision,
25:54it's not only in Karnataka.
25:56It's not only in Karnataka.
25:57Wherever the state they are,
25:59they take the decision from the two families' point of view.
26:02One is the Gandhi family.
26:04The second is the appeasement politics
26:05from the Muslim family's point of view.
26:07So, when...
26:08When you talk about the equality...
26:10When you talk about the equality...
26:12When you talk about the equality...
26:12When you talk about the equality...
26:14See...
26:14See...
26:15Why...
26:15Congress asked...
26:16See, Congress always publicly asked,
26:18why Congress is not coming to power?
26:20Congress should understand that
26:22they are not coming to the power.
26:24They are not coming to the power
26:25in any of the states
26:26because of their divisive politics.
26:29Divisive politics.
26:30Okay.
26:30Now let him respond.
26:32We believe in the constitution of India.
26:35We will be the secular fabric of India.
26:37We never believe India is you.
26:38We don't do Hindu Muslim politics at all in life.
26:40You are Hindu haters, sir.
26:41No, we don't do that.
26:42You are Hindu haters.
26:43Okay.
26:44This is a polarization.
26:44We...
26:45We believe Indians as Indians,
26:47as Kennedy guys as Kennedy guys.
26:48We don't look at the caste...
26:49Away from all this.
26:50Away from all this.
26:51Away from all this.
26:51Let me complete it.
26:52Now, you are telling me about appeasement of politics.
26:54What is appeasement of politics he is talking about?
26:56Whenever...
26:57Whenever the party has come to power,
26:59we have taken care of everybody.
27:00Now, five guarantees are given.
27:01One minute.
27:02One minute.
27:03One minute.
27:04That's what.
27:04Only one special it is.
27:05They don't bother about the people.
27:06He wants to vote.
27:07Let me tell you now.
27:08Five guarantees...
27:08Five guarantees are given.
27:10One lakh...
27:1040,000...
27:11One minute, sir.
27:12Don't disturb it, please.
27:13One minute.
27:14One minute.
27:14One lakh.
27:1540,000 crores have been spent for three years.
27:17We have given any caste program?
27:19Have we given to any religion program?
27:21Okay.
27:21We have given to every downtrodden of the society outside.
27:23Sir, Anurag Naidu.
27:24Before I wrap this up,
27:25it's getting too heated.
27:26I am not able to deter myself.
27:28Sir, one second.
27:29One second.
27:30Gentlemen, one second.
27:31Anurag Naidu.
27:32Last comment before I wrap this up,
27:33because it's getting too stormy outside and in the debate.
27:35Yes.
27:36But go ahead.
27:37Sir, politics aside.
27:39Sir, politics aside.
27:40Let me speak about...
27:41Go ahead.
27:41Sir, let me speak about governance and policies.
27:43Is it not true that there's heavy lobbying going on for the Deputy Chief Ministers and
27:48the Cabinets and all?
27:49No, no, no.
27:50Sir, my question is...
27:51My question is, if you end up having two or three, four, five Deputy Chief Minister,
27:56how efficient will the government be?
27:57That's a question that you need to answer.
28:00Second is, from a policy point of view, we'll be very happy to see the metro construction
28:04getting completed, underground tunnel which is proposed to be completed.
28:07And also from a social point of view, what is going to be your stand with respect to the
28:10caste census?
28:11Is it going to be rolled out?
28:12Is it going to be accepted in the form and manner it has been promised?
28:14These are the questions that you need to answer.
28:17Two days before this, today, we have got the caste census report given to the government.
28:20Yeah, yeah.
28:20Government will look into it.
28:21Cabinet will look into it.
28:22A subcommittable...
28:22Okay, let's move that side.
28:23It's really, really pouring down right now.
28:25That is one thing because taxpayer money is spent on that.
28:28Yeah.
28:28Coming to the metro projects...
28:30Government of Karnataka money is been spent there.
28:32Government of taxpayer money...
28:33Okay, Mr. Yadav, we're going to have to take...
28:36Yes, sir, it's pouring down.
28:37Just give me a second.
28:38What we're going to do is...
28:40What we're going to do is...
28:41We're going to continue this discussion.
28:42Sir, just a second.
28:43Just a second.
28:44We'll continue this.
28:45Let's just toss it to a report right now.
28:48What's really happening here is it's really pouring down.
28:51So we're going to take a moment to go to the site, take a look at this report
28:54where we give you a sense about DK Shivkumar, the man who's going to be taking over Bengaluru.
28:58Beautiful city, crazy weather.
29:00Coming back.
29:10Dodala Halli Kempe Gowda Shivkumar, popularly known as DK Shivkumar,
29:15is one of Karnataka's most formidable political forces.
29:19A leader who rose from a modest farming family,
29:22he has climbed the ranks to become one of the most influential faces of the Congress in the state,
29:28and the party's crisis man.
29:31From early on, Shivkumar showed sharp political instinct.
29:35He entered electoral politics in 1989 at the age of 27,
29:39when he contested and won the Satanoor constituency.
29:44And he never looked back.
29:52Over the decades, he has been elected eight times,
29:56never losing a single assembly election.
29:59A rare consistency in Karnataka politics.
30:02His political journey has seen him hold several key ministerial portfolios,
30:07each adding to his reputation as a strong, hands-on leader.
30:15But his biggest value lies in being the Congress's troubleshooter,
30:20due to his consistent success in managing political crisis,
30:24preventing the defection of party legislators,
30:27and forming coalition governments against the odds.
30:32Whether it be acing resort politics to keep MLAs loyal during power struggles,
30:38or rapidly engineering the 2018 Congress JTS government in Karnataka under the BGP's nose,
30:45DKS is the party's ever-reliable go-to man.
30:53A loyal Congress leader, Shivkumar worked relentlessly to strengthen the party's grassroots network.
31:02Now, after a year-long power tussle within the Congress,
31:06DK Shivkumar appears set to finally secure the top post that eluded him in 2023,
31:12when Siddhar Amaya was chosen as chief minister,
31:16and he was made deputy chief minister.
31:20For DK Shivkumar, this could mark the culmination of a long political climb.
31:24From grassroots strong man to the man set to take charge of Karnataka.
31:30Bureau Report, India Today.
31:36Okay, unfortunately, the weather has made it impossible for us to continue with our broadcast here in Bengaluru,
31:42so I apologize for that, but the weather literally plays spoiled sport.
31:46We've all become drenched in a matter of minutes,
31:48and it was very sudden because we're in here,
31:50but you can imagine the intensity of the rave that even in the cover we're fully drenched.
31:55So I'm going to toss it back to the studio to take over for the rest of this edition of
31:58Super 6.
31:59Anisha, it's over to you.
32:01And we just saw Akshita there with the fascinating debate
32:05and the continuous rolling coverage of what is happening in Karnataka now that DK Shivkumar is set to take over
32:12as the chief minister,
32:13but the power sharing, who gets what and how much influence will Siddhar Amaya continue to have,
32:19that's the big debate that we've been covering all day for now.
32:24But as Congress battles factionalism, alliance pressures, and leadership challenges across states,
32:30one leader increasingly finding himself at the center of crisis management is going to be Karnataka's CM2B, DK Shivkumar.
32:40Whether it is holding the Karnataka Congress together, negotiating alliance equations,
32:45or stepping in to manage friction in neighboring Tamil Nadu,
32:49DKS has emerged as the Congress High Command's trusted troubleshooter.
32:54But even as his organizational skills earn praise,
32:58questions over ambition, internal rivalry, and corruption allegations continue to shadow his political journey.
33:04Here's an analysis of one of Congress's most influential regional leaders.
33:09Let's take a look.
33:24Aggressive, resourceful, organizationally sharp.
33:28DK Shivkumar today is more than just Karnataka's next CM.
33:33Inside the Congress party, he has always been known as Mr. Problem Solver.
33:48From reviving the Karnataka Congress machinery before the 2023 assembly election,
33:53to managing legislators during political crisis.
33:57DK's biggest strength lies in organization and execution.
34:04He is viewed as a leader who can mobilize workers, resources, and alliances quickly.
34:12The Congress leadership also trusts his ability to negotiate difficult political situations.
34:20His recent involvement in Tamil Nadu Congress affairs is being seen as another example of the High Command relying on
34:28him beyond Karnataka.
34:29We are going to take part, sir.
34:32What could be the agenda?
34:38But DK Shivkumar's rise also comes with complications.
34:42The biggest, his power tussle with incumbent CM Siddharamaya.
34:50Despite being credited for Karnataka Congress's electoral revival,
34:55DK had to settle for the deputy CM post after intense negotiations before the High Command intervened.
35:04Corruption allegations and past ED investigations also remain as a political baggage.
35:10The BJP repeatedly targets him over.
35:20For the Congress High Command, DK offers something increasingly rare and an effective regional strongman with organizational control.
35:29If Congress expands further in the South, DK could emerge as a key strategist beyond Karnataka.
35:38His growing role in alliance management and interstate coordination may strengthen his claim within the party's national power structure.
35:52But the higher DK rises, the tougher the political terrain becomes.
35:58Managing internal Congress factions while balancing personal ambition with party discipline will remain his biggest challenge.
36:07Any instability in Karnataka, alliance friction in the South or electoral setbacks could directly impact his standing with the High
36:15Command.
36:16BJP, too, continues to project him as a symbol of Congress's alleged corruption politics.
36:26For now, DK Shavakumar remains indispensable to the Congress.
36:31A mass leader for some, a master political operator for others.
36:37But one thing is clear.
36:38Whenever the Congress faces turbulence, DK Shavakumar increasingly finds himself at the centre of the response.
36:46Bureau Report, India Today.
36:58And breaking news coming in on the possibles for the new cabinet in Karnataka.
37:05Remember, as DK Shavakumar takes over, a major cabinet rejig is on the cards.
37:10And we're bringing you the likely names in the biggest scoop on the new DKS cabinet.
37:16India today accesses the probable new DKS cabinet.
37:21The first name on the list that India Today is bringing you is Yatindra Siddharamaya.
37:27Then comes A.S. Ponanna, Bairathi Suresh, H.C. Mahadevapa, Priyank Kharge, M.B. Patil, G. Parameshwara, Krishna Bhairagoda, Santosh
37:39Ladd, Dinesh Gundu Rao, Lakshmi Hibalkar, Ramalinga Reddy, Rizwan Arshad, UT Khadar, and Sharad Bache Gorda.
37:49These are the names that we're bringing to you, which are likely to be in the new DKS cabinet.
38:02For DK Shavakumar, the journey to the top post in Karnataka is the result of years of patience, political calculation
38:09and organisational strength.
38:11From being the Congress's key troubleshooter and party builder to emerging as the chief minister, his rise has been shaped
38:18by both loyalty to the high command and quiet persistence within the state politics.
38:24Take a look at this report on how DKS outplayed Siddharamaya in this power game to fulfil his long-cherished
38:32dream.
38:37They say what's meant for you comes only when the time is right.
38:42And for DK Shavakumar, that moment has finally arrived.
38:48For years, whenever he was asked about his chances of becoming Karnataka's chief minister, there was one line he almost
38:55always repeated.
38:58Efforts may fail, but prayers never do. It was more than just a political line.
39:05For Shavakumar, it became a strategy for survival. And perhaps a road map to power.
39:13No major Congress leader in Karnataka has blended politics and spirituality quite like DK's.
39:20From high-profile temple visits to public displays of faith and spiritual outreach.
39:28Shavakumar carefully cultivated the image of a man waiting for destiny to deliver its verdict.
39:37But while the prayers were visible, the politics was equally relentless behind the scenes.
39:43Over the past few years, Shavakumar quietly transformed himself into the Congress Party's organizational pillar in Karnataka.
39:53But the biggest test came after the Congress returned to power in 2023.
40:01Sid Ramayya was once again coronated.
40:06And Sid Ramayya believed his mass appeal, a Hinda support base and backing among MLAs would shield him from any
40:15leadership challenge.
40:18For him, the mandate was personal as much as political.
40:23But Shavakumar's camp consistently maintained that a rotational chief minister arrangement had been informally worked out after the election victory.
40:35Sid Ramayya, however, repeatedly denied accepting any such deal.
40:38And insisted he will complete full five-year term.
40:46Is Mr. Sid Ramayya going to complete his full five-year term?
40:50Or are you going to sometime later this year give up chief ministership and maybe DK Shiv Kumar takes over?
40:59That is the buzz.
41:00I have already made it very clear that I am going to complete five years term.
41:08I will be the chief minister for five years.
41:12As the rivalry simmered beneath the surface, Congress found itself managing two competing power centers in Karnataka.
41:20While Sid Ramayya focused on governance and legislative strength inside the state,
41:25Shavakumar steadily strengthened his political equations in Delhi.
41:29Repeated statements from leaders from both camps slowly turned Karnataka into the Congress High Command's biggest internal balancing act.
41:43The fear in Delhi was clear.
41:45Allowing the uncertainty to drag on could damage governance,
41:49deepen factionalism and eventually hurt the Congress nationally.
41:53And this is where Shivakumar's political calibration stood out.
41:58Unlike many Sid Ramayya loyalists who openly mocked the rotational CM theory,
42:04Shivakumar rarely escalated the confrontation publicly.
42:08He carefully projected himself as a disciplined Congress loyalist,
42:12repeatedly insisting that the party's decision would always be final.
42:17That public restraint became politically significant.
42:22Because behind the scenes, Shivakumar maintained constant communication with Malikar Junkarge, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra,
42:33quietly reminding the leadership of both his sacrifices for the party and the commitment made in 2023.
42:41At the same time, his supporters ensured the leadership change conversation never truly disappeared from Karnataka politics.
42:49The pressure was kept alive, even when Shivakumar himself avoided direct confrontation.
42:56That dual strategy now appears to have worked in his favour.
43:02During marathon meetings in Delhi this week, Sid Ramayya and Shivakumar separately met the Congress top brass,
43:09as the leadership explored a possible transition formula.
43:13The Congress's priority appeared straightforward.
43:16Prevent Karnataka from slipping into another Rajasthan-style faction war.
43:20And by finally nudging Sid Ramayya towards the exit path.
43:24The High Command seems to have concluded that Shivakumar's organizational utility,
43:30vocal Iga cast significance, political patience and years of loyalty outweighed the risks attached to a leadership change.
43:39For DK Shivakumar, this is not merely about becoming Chief Minister.
43:44It is the culmination of a decades-long political climb, marked by setbacks, ambition, loyalty, prayer and persistence.
43:56But the real challenge may begin only after the oath-taking ceremony.
