Palmer Luckey's defense company wants to build American laptops. On October 27, 2026, Anduril and Qualcomm unveiled BlueChip, a new laptop line the companies say will be designed and assembled in the United States. 🇺🇸
What was announced (per Anduril's announcement, TechCrunch and The Verge):
• The first BlueChip model is a rugged, hardened laptop aimed at the military, government, first responders and law enforcement.
• It runs Qualcomm's Arm-based Snapdragon X series chips. Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon told The Verge it intends to make the processors for this laptop at TSMC Arizona.
• Assembly is planned at Anduril's Arsenal-1 facility in Ohio.
• Luckey told reporters about 90% of the laptop's bill of materials is from the US or allied countries, with a roadmap to 100% domestic over time. Anduril's own announcement says US and allied suppliers make up more than 90% of the prototypes' component cost. Some parts, like the display panel, are still only made in China, Luckey said, per TechCrunch.
• Anduril has working prototypes and plans to start taking orders in 2027. Pricing has not been announced.
Why it matters: TechCrunch reports the bigger point is giving US government agencies a computer that meets rules requiring them to buy US-made machines, with a supply chain buyers can track and audit. DefenseScoop reports the effort is funded by Anduril and Qualcomm themselves.
