Nvidia already sells the chips. Now CEO Jensen Huang has put a price on the software that runs AI agents on them: about $2,000 per GPU, per year. 💸
Huang made the remark during a Q&A at Nvidia's GTC Berlin event on October 22, 2026, as first reported by The Register. Tom's Hardware quotes him saying software licensing "will become increasingly a major part of our company's business," and that "it's about $2,000 per GPU per year to run all the software that Nvidia provides that runs agents on these AI factories."
The details are unclear. Nvidia has not said when this pricing would start, exactly which software it covers, or how it fits with its existing AI Enterprise suite, which Tom's Hardware and TechSpot say is listed at $4,500 per GPU for a one-year subscription. Tom's Hardware says the figure should not be treated as a confirmed price cut.
Why it matters: by TechSpot's math, every million licensed GPUs would bring Nvidia about $2 billion a year in recurring revenue, money that does not depend on selling new chips.
