00:00Whilst it is going to be another dry day across many southern areas, it's a different story further north.
00:06There's been some wet weather that's swept in overnight across Northern Ireland, then heavy persistent rain now across much of
00:13Scotland.
00:13That will continue for a little while yet, a few outbreaks of rain also for parts of Northern England and
00:18Wales.
00:19But the heaviest, most persistent rain over Scotland that is going to push and clear away towards the northeast,
00:25largely lingering, however, over Orkney and Shetland by the middle to the end of the afternoon.
00:31There will then be some dry weather around across Scotland and Northern Ireland, but also a couple more fronts coming
00:36in.
00:37So we have a band of rain pushing into parts of the Western Isles and then another one lying across
00:42Northern Ireland.
00:43And that will also bring some outbreaks of rain to more central southern parts of Scotland.
00:47And some of this rain could be a bit heavy at times, some heavier bursts perhaps, the odd rumble of
00:52thunder.
00:52Across the bulk of England and Wales, though, it's going to be dry, especially towards the south.
00:56Lots of bright, sunny weather to be had.
00:59And with that, then, temperatures rising.
01:01Good chance that we're going to get into the low 30s again across parts of the southeast.
01:05It's been a little while since we've had temperatures quite that high.
01:09But nonetheless, it's going to be a hot day in the southeast.
01:12Still very warm or hot across many other places, but it gets a little bit fresher the further north and
01:17west you go.
01:18That being said, even across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland, there'll be cloud.
01:21There'll be some rain around and some blustery winds.
01:23But temperatures here, a few degrees above average for the time of year and a few degrees above what we
01:29had yesterday for most.
01:30For Northern Ireland, similar, maybe a little bit fresher perhaps for a few spots.
01:34But most places, several degrees higher than yesterday.
01:38And down the eastern side, markedly so.
01:40You can see temperatures around seven, eight, maybe nine degrees higher than it was yesterday.
01:46As we go through the end of the day today and into tomorrow, we do have more rain lingering across
01:51parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:53Those fronts sort of merge together.
01:55And worth bearing in mind, the rain can be a bit heavy at times.
01:57And if you get stuck under those fronts, well, we could see some totals building up.
02:01There's some showery rain coming into the far north of Scotland through the early hours of tomorrow morning.
02:06We're seeing some blustery winds here as well.
02:09More areas across England and Wales, though, will stay dry.
02:13There'll be often clear skies.
02:14And again, it's going to be a warm night.
02:16In fact, if anything, temperatures will be ever so slightly higher than they were last night for many places.
02:21But slightly fresher air coming in from the northwest.
02:23So turning a bit fresher here.
02:26That frontal mess, I guess, merging of those two fronts across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
02:32Well, that continues to bring rain through tomorrow.
02:35Edges a bit further south and east and will break up, ease a little bit.
02:39But like I say, if you're stuck under it, well, we could see a fair amount of rain building up.
02:44A bit of showery rain across the far northwest of Scotland as well.
02:47More towards the southeast, it's going to be largely dry.
02:50Plenty of sunshine across some central southeastern parts.
02:53And with that, with us dragging in hotter air from the south,
02:57it's when we're likely to see the peak in the heat this week,
03:00with temperatures peaking around 34, possibly 35 Celsius towards the southeast.
03:05It is going to be a fair bit fresher than this towards the northwest,
03:07especially behind that front where we have that cooler air coming in.
03:11Now, again, comparing tomorrow's highs with today's,
03:14you can see around southern, southeastern parts, temperatures a fair few degrees higher,
03:18which is why it's likely to be the peak of the heat this week.
03:20But quite a drop in temperatures compared to today across parts of Northern Ireland
03:25and much of Scotland as well, a fair few degrees lower for sure.
