02:33Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago international audience.
02:36And, of course, our brothers and sisters in Grenada.
02:38We welcome you to Beyond the Tape.
02:40And I'm your host, Whitney Husbands.
02:42Now, the countdown is on for the biggest day on Earth, which is Christmas Day.
02:4664 days and counting.
02:48And I am hoping that persons are preparing themselves to keep themselves safe during the season.
02:53And even while you are looking to shop, if you have the money, that you can make your way out
02:57and you are safe.
02:58Now, the TTPS is here.
03:00Of course, they're going to let us know more about their plans leading up to the season.
03:03What are they going to put in place?
03:05And not forgetting that Tobago Carnival is also around the corner.
03:08And what are their plans there as well?
03:10And, of course, to guide us, a gentleman who is always willing and happy to be here with us each
03:15and every Tuesday.
03:16Thursday and Friday, we have ASP Russell.
03:20Good evening to you, sir.
03:21Good evening, Miss Husbands.
03:23Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, the U.S., Canada, and all our international viewers.
03:28On behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, and First and Second Division Officers of the...
03:34Esteem.
03:35Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
03:36As usual, it's a pleasure being here.
03:38And we have a lot to unpack.
03:40I know that quite a few things occurred.
03:43And they could update us as we move along as well.
03:45Yes, and persons could get update.
03:47I know at this point in time, a lot of persons are really appreciative of the vote that the TTPS
03:53do.
03:53Yes.
03:54And we like when you all tell us when we do good, and we also like when you tell us
04:00when we do bad, and where we want to know, where we can improve, so I put in a plug.
04:03But one time, and I want persons, I am not satisfied with the numbers that I am getting with respect
04:09to the public satisfaction survey.
04:13Oh, it's 10,000 you wanted, didn't you remember?
04:14Yes, I want my 10,000.
04:15So you all don't have anything at the police station?
04:18I'm begging persons.
04:20For persons to do the survey there as well when they are there?
04:22No, it's not written.
04:22Everything is online.
04:24So you can scan the back.
04:25Well, there's city flags at the police station.
04:26They can access it via Facebook as well.
04:29You all don't have iPads?
04:30I'm asking, you know, Ms. Husbands, maybe the new budget when the allocation, when the budget is passed and the
04:35allocation is made, we could get some.
04:37If you want to sponsor some or have one of your employers sponsor some iPads, we will also accept that.
04:46I'm asking, please, persons, could you please just, five minutes, five minutes is what we are asking for, please follow
04:54the survey so that we could improve our delivery of service to you.
04:59And we would like to send condolences to a giant that we lost when it comes to the music industry
05:04in Trinidad and Tobago.
05:06Brother Valentino, of course, he was the people's calypsonian.
05:11And, of course, this is a gentleman who had no water in his mouth and he will continue with his
05:17music to rain extremely high throughout the country and the world and the way in which he represented the red,
05:23white and black.
05:23So condolences going out to his family, his friends, his loved ones, and, of course, his supporters.
05:29Now, we have no time to waste.
05:30I know the Christmas season is approaching.
05:33Could you give us a little bit quickly, though, with what are the plans?
05:35Because I've seen 60,000-plus heading to Tobago, you know.
05:40Next week, it's peace.
05:42Well, it's something that we were treating with as the media ambassadors, and we have sent over 100 police officers.
05:50There may be more going if it should need a rise.
05:54Because we are asking members of the public to go over there to have a good time, you know.
06:00Our carnival and our sporting traditions are where we see all creeds, color, and races combined.
06:06We tend to put aside all our differences to have a good time.
06:09And a good time, I want us to have, indeed, but a responsible good time.
06:14I'm asking persons, be careful where you're going, be careful where you're parking, parking well-lit areas, moving groups, designate
06:24a driver.
06:26Yes.
06:26And I want to just impress upon you as I speak now that the designated driver is not the person
06:33that is drinking the least.
06:35I am weak.
06:36The designated driver is not the person that is drinking the least.
06:41That's how people can rage it?
06:43Yes.
06:43Okay.
06:44So the designated driver ought to know that their responsibility is not to drink.
06:49Look out for each other.
06:50Be careful of your jewelry wearing.
06:53Mm-hmm.
06:54Be careful of the jewelry wearing.
06:57Or you're parking your cars.
06:58Make yourself a hard target to the FUL holders.
07:04Alcohol and firearms do not mix.
07:06If you're going to attend these events, please lodge your firearms.
07:12Or don't drink.
07:13Please lodge your firearms.
07:15Of course, I know there will be some armed events that have a firearm policy where they're not allowing persons
07:20to come in.
07:20Okay.
07:21I ask you to adhere to the policies and do not call your friend to pass in the firearm because
07:25you could be charged with an offense of transferring the firearm.
07:28That means an officer as well.
07:31Yes.
07:31We don't want to encourage that.
07:34So we are asking that.
07:36So we are asking that you be responsible.
07:37We know persons already started to go over to the island to partake in the festivities.
08:11Yes.
08:13For that family, that loved one, that friend.
08:15We want to make sure the house nice, the house painted, the ham baked and stuff like that.
08:19It's a time where we tend to throw a lot of caution to the wind.
08:23We have large sums of money on us.
08:24Because I want to discourage that immediately.
08:27We've seen what is taking place.
08:29I'm asking persons trying to limit your shopping, limit the amount of money, or use cashless transactions, your cards.
08:38And even with your cards, be careful because, you know, there are skimming machines and stuff like that.
08:42Remember, your credit card is never to leave your eyesight.
08:46And I know Fraud Squad put out an advisory recently with respect to fraud.
08:51And Christine Ford, as we come to this season, I am seeing issues with respect to Facebook marketplace.
08:56Persons are still going in particular areas to buy items.
09:02And, you know, they are becoming victims.
09:05Somebody lost their life recently.
09:07We are trying to publicly, really, really trying to really give you all the information so that you are armed
09:14and you can take better care of yourself.
09:16But we need you to work with us.
09:17As you continue to stress on that and you mention the Facebook marketplace, there was an incident that took place
09:23literally some hours right before you just mentioned persons being safe.
09:30That the Trinidad Express stated that a car buyer murdered after responding to Facebook ad.
09:35Now, a 14-year-old Coover man was shot dead after he and another man traveled to Batara to purchase
09:41a vehicle advertised for sale on Facebook marketplace on Wednesday.
09:46Now, Shamel Marshall of Watson Court Extension Coover was shot several times by one of three masked men who approached
09:55the victims shortly before noon along 9th Avenue, Malik, near LP number 11.
10:02Now, police said the victims had traveled in a gold Nissan Tito after responding to an advertisement offering a vehicle
10:10for sale for $15,000.
10:12Around 11.45 a.m. at the time, the men arrived at the location where they were approached by three
10:20men, two of whom were armed with guns.
10:23One of the gunmen approached Marshall who was driving and demanded money.
10:27Marshall reportedly told the gunman he had none, prompting the attacker to shoot him several times about the body.
10:35The three suspects then fled west along 9th Avenue.
10:39The second man, who was seated in the front passenger seat, drove Marshall to the Eric Williams Medical Science Complex.
10:46For treatment, Marshall was pronounced dead at 5.51 p.m.
10:51Officers, we covered two spent 9mm shells and, of course, as we say, ASP, anyone with information, this is disturbing,
10:58that we could call 555-999-800-TIPS because we need to get these people.
11:05We need to get them.
11:06Yep.
11:06800-TIPS, 555-999.
11:09But I understand the investigation is at a critical state, so as an update comes to hand, I will definitely
11:15update the public.
11:16And, you know, when you listen to the facts of it, apparently the person just decided, I'm not going with
11:21the money, I'm going to see the vehicle first.
11:23Vehicle first, yes.
11:24And all he did was said, I didn't come with the money.
11:26And this person became so enraged that you shot that guy.
11:29Several times, you know.
11:31Several times because he told you he didn't walk with the money.
11:34So you give him money to walk with.
11:36And people are still of the opinion that the police this and the police that and the police this and
11:42this is what we're putting up with.
11:44And I know that there are people out there who know about that crime and can give us information that
11:50can help us solve it.
12:02Yes, yes.
12:03Who is aware and can give us information and we're asking for you to give that information and confidentiality.
12:10Put yourself in the other family's shoes.
12:13If it was your family, you would have wanted the same assistance.
12:17Now, ASP, you know, you mentioned persons being vigilant and leading up to the carnival and Christmas season.
12:23But the same way we are trying to do that, the criminal elements are out and about because they are
12:27Christmas shopping early.
12:28Now, this incident took place in the Marabella area and this is why ASP constantly tell people to be aware
12:36of one of your surroundings, yes, but placement of items in your vehicle.
12:41Yeah.
12:42And you don't know who's watching.
12:43You don't know who's watching.
12:47So you're watching the kind of city gentleman now.
12:50Pay close attention, viewers.
12:52Viewers.
12:53Wow.
12:55Was that a stone he was using to smash the glass?
12:58Yeah.
13:00And this is the second attempt, right?
13:02So then he knows that something is in that vehicle.
13:07Someone was passing.
13:13But this is in front of an establishment.
13:16He has to know that something is in that vehicle.
13:24What's he trying to do there?
13:25He broke the back window.
13:33Hmm.
13:35And that's a note.
13:37Yep.
13:39Notes and teeters for him.
13:43So he got a bigger stone, isn't it?
13:45He got a bigger stone.
13:46Look!
13:51Yes, he knew something was there because he knew directly where to go and get whatever that was.
13:57He knew exactly where to go.
13:59And it appears that it wasn't even hidden.
14:01It was just left by the air.
14:03It was just placed there.
14:03Like by the handbrakes.
14:04You know we have the opinion of us running there to come back.
14:06And you see a gentleman walking to the vehicle.
14:08Maybe that could be the owner.
14:10We are asking anybody with information with respect to this crime here.
14:16800-555.
14:18Or you can call Sergeant Solomon at the Marbella Police Station.
14:26652-6777.
14:28652-6777.
14:32Sergeant Solomon at the Marbella Police Station.
14:36We are asking for your help, please.
14:39Seems like the south is a bit hot.
14:41Well, my husband seems like you know that.
14:43There you go.
14:45Others will be back to the far.
14:47Well, I hear you.
14:48But no one is immune from the trial and tribulations of life.
14:54And we have had things happen in the Western Division, in the Northern Division, in the Southern Division.
15:01So, we have things happening throughout the country.
15:06And, you know, we have to be vigilant.
15:09Don't tell yourself that you are invisible.
15:12You are invincible.
15:13It would not happen to you.
15:15We need you to be responsible.
15:16We need you to be vigilant.
15:18We need you to be careful.
15:19We need you to be caring.
15:20We need you to have your neighbors back, to be your brother's and sister's keeper and let us look out.
15:28Let me tell you something.
15:29There's only a few of them.
15:31And if we really band together, as one Trinidad and Tobago, we could change the way things are going.
15:40But guess what?
15:42Guess what?
15:43Guess what?
15:43When he snatched the chain, somebody buying it for the family or the friend or somebody or somebody with that
15:51jewelry store buying it to make jewelry.
15:54When they steal the vehicle, somebody buying the parts to put on their vehicle because they cannot afford to buy
16:02the parts through the dealer or through whoever one of the dealers, whether it's brand new or from the news.
16:07When they steal the hybrid batteries, guess what?
16:10There is a buyer.
16:11So we, some of us, sit at home and speak about the crime when we are the ones that condone
16:16the crime as well by our actions or our inactions.
16:20Well, we continue to pass the lighthouse and we're seeing now that in South, this was caught on camera.
16:28Again.
16:28Pay close attention for you.
16:30Yep.
16:31The gentleman walking with a stick.
16:37I'm walking sick, you know.
16:39Don't care.
16:41Much.
16:42Sure.
16:43Push the man.
16:44Oh, gosh, boy.
16:45Jeez.
16:53Um, ESP, any information on this where, um, these monsters, I shall have to call them now because, it can't
16:59be gentlemen.
17:00It's young, young, young.
17:02It's young.
17:02Not yet, but the footage, the footage is good where I believe that, uh, yeah, we could really make some
17:09proper inquiries and, um, apprehend those involved in this as well.
17:42And I'm saying, I mean, this man walking with that.
17:44They're targeting.
17:45Because you know what?
17:46My mother is out there too.
17:48Mm-hmm.
17:49She's also a pensioner.
17:50You have parents that they are pensioners.
17:52They are pensioners.
17:52We have family.
17:53How you could tolerate that?
17:55I show everybody know somebody that is a pensioner, that is close to them.
17:58Um, how we could sit at home and just really buy Java business.
18:04You're buying these, these, these jewelry.
18:06You're buying these things.
18:07How we could do that?
18:08It's a sweet deal.
18:10It's a sweet deal.
18:12And you continue to make excuses, aren't?
18:14Yeah, yeah, yeah.
18:15But I digress.
18:16I shall not.
18:17But the TTPS continues their best to work hard when it comes to finding ways to protect our citizens.
18:24Now, swift police response leads to arrest and recovery of cash following robbery of pensioner.
18:29Another pensioner.
18:31Another pensioner.
18:31A swift police response has resulted in the arrest of a 28-year-old man and the recovery of, guys,
18:37listen, $250 following a reported robbery involving an 80-year-old pensioner in Marabella on Wednesday, 21st October, 2026.
18:50The incident reportedly occurred around 10.30 a.m. along Union Road, Marabella, where the pensioner was allegedly robbed of
18:57$250 in cash.
19:00With assistance from members of the public, officers detained the 28-year-old man of Marabella.
19:07A search of his person resulted in the recovery of $250 in cash.
19:12He was subsequently arrested and taken to the Marabella police station, where he remains in custody pending further inquiries by
19:19officers of the Marabella Criminal Investigation Department, the CID.
19:25Tell me, tell me.
19:27Miss Husbands, the, the, the, the.
19:29Oh, my gosh.
19:31The station visit for the.
19:32They're getting more money.
19:33The station visit for the attorney.
19:36A day job, or we say a day walk.
19:38It's way more than $200.
19:40$200.
19:42An, an 80-year-old pensioner, you know?
19:44Give it to you.
19:46Ha, yeah, yeah, yeah.
19:47You don't know what bill this pensioner has to pay if it's to get food, groceries, are they okay?
19:54Or I shouldn't speak?
19:55Clearly, clearly.
19:55I shouldn't, I shouldn't say anything.
19:57Clearly, they, when you see that.
19:59Quick question.
20:00When I call out things that we see that is clear to us, and we have to hold persons accountable,
20:05that's wrong.
20:08I'm asking you a question, sir.
20:09I, I wouldn't say it's wrong, Miss Husbands.
20:12Probably, it's not what you do, it's how you do it.
20:14I, I am not certain.
20:15Um, but.
20:16I have to go on my knees on crime.
20:18I have to go on my knees on crime.
20:31It's not on deal.
20:32There are so many persons going through different situations out there.
20:35Some persons just want a listening ear.
20:37And let me just tell my officers something.
20:39Officers, members of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, I am sick and fed up of your turning away persons
20:52and telling them wrong station.
20:57Officers, officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, it's a one door policy.
21:09Just take the report and send the telephone message where you have to go, please.
21:14Please.
21:15I've had to make too many calls today with respect to the person saying the officers run me.
21:23One person said to me, they went by one place, the place send them a Rima, they went Malaba Police
21:32Post, Malaba Police Post send them a Rima, a Rima charge room send them upstairs to CID, CID send them
21:40back downstairs to the charge room.
21:42Wow.
21:43It's amazing.
21:44And here I am every day begging the public to work with us.
21:48And to trust you all.
21:49And to trust us.
21:50Oh, gosh.
21:52We know if it is not your jurisdiction, just take the report and send it where you have to go,
21:59please.
22:00I'm asking kindly, please.
22:02Sir Goni means.
22:03Please, I beg in.
22:05We beg in.
22:08You finish?
22:09Yeah.
22:10Time for your headlines.
22:41Time for your headlines.
22:53And those are your stories making today's headlines.
22:55Just a quick reminder to persons with the town meeting that's happening in the Eastern Division.
22:59And that is on today.
23:01It started at 6 o'clock.
23:02So you still have time.
23:03Make your way there.
23:03Remember, you can watch the repeat of Beyond the Tape later on this evening.
23:08But it's on.
23:09And that is at the Kumana Community Center, Toko Main Road in Toko.
23:14So remember, you can speak to those officers.
23:16Engage with them.
23:17Get to know the officers in your community.
23:19Because that's the only way we can continue that relationship moving forward to protect you in your communities.
23:25We take that break.
23:26When we come back, we take your calls and more.
23:28We'll be back.
23:29You need five.
23:31Five minutes.
23:32That's all it will take for you to complete the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Public Satisfaction Survey on your
23:39phone.
23:40Yes, five minutes.
23:42That's all it will take for you to share your experience with the police, what we're doing well, and even
23:50ways in which we can improve.
23:52Your feedback will help us improve the quality of service we give to you in our stations, on our streets,

27:13and we are back and remember you can give us a call at six two three seventeen eleven
27:16extension nineteen ninety six or nineteen ninety seven we have asp russell here with us and we have
27:21a caller on old caller good evening hi good evening caller everything you spoke about today
27:32and it's a serious problem and all the patients have especially when you come into the river
27:40old road what you're supposed to break the care to go to the river they come beyond before the
27:47bridge they say i go to the river and they keep dancing and then you're going back and forward
27:52but i don't know how long the trust is to defend the police
28:02that's a tennis game caller i i i feel it because i hear it i spent a lot of the
28:10day just
28:11really just trying to call to get help for persons um respect to situations like these
28:16um i stand before you and i would not stop i would not um give up i will continue to
28:23try my best and
28:24to also to encourage the officers um really really ready to get on board and understand
28:30the program understand that we are in the business of serving the public and we really want to
28:37emphasize the one door policy but what i'm saying to you trinidad and tobago when you go
28:45and they they and i know some of them might probably dislike me for saying this just secretly just take
28:50the number and the name oh you can see or just just the number and sometimes sometimes you ask
28:56it they don't want to give me a number and i don't want my public my beloved public to go
29:02and get in
29:03any unnecessary conflict imagine you have to sneak just take the time and it did that you went there
29:09okay we could do the investigation and find out who was the shift that was on okay because there's
29:15something called a duty book that outlines everybody that is on duty so you might ask for the number they
29:22don't want to give it to you okay on the 22nd of october at 6 30 pm i went to
29:30x station
29:32and someone had a description report it because of the rest we will do the rest because i mean and
29:42i
29:42understand and there are particular stations that are known for that yeah every time a conversation
29:51comes up with respect to this there's a few stations that are continuously being called
29:59isn't that they just don't want to do the work well i believe if you have to be if you
30:05don't want to
30:05take a report well if you don't want to do the work then better you leave your but that's what
30:09i was saying
30:10all the time if you don't want to leave and you know i was saying to somebody earlier today i
30:16have to
30:17come here and stand and do what i have to do to learn and tobago the inspectors the asp we
30:22lost the matter in
30:23court i have to do by the whole process along with many of my colleagues i'm still on work on
30:31time
30:31i'm still on work doing what i'm doing i'm still in the association representing my members i'm still
30:37before you life after one and i have a responsibility to you trinidad and tobago and despite how i may
30:44feel
30:45internally i have to manage my emotions and come here and do what i have to do i completed the
30:50process
30:50that i had a good mark i had a good for sure putting god's time in and not mine and
30:58i'm here to serve you
31:03all right so i mean with that being said we need to take that break yeah
31:12over 40 years in the trinidad and tobago police service has taught me one important lesson
31:23evidence matters in policing we rely on evidence to establish the facts and make informed decisions
31:33therefore improving policing should be no different that's why your participation in the ttps public
31:42satisfaction survey is so important your honest feedback provides the evidence needed to understand
31:51what's working what isn't and where improvements are necessary don't leave it to someone else to tell
31:58your story your experience is evidence your perspective matters take the survey today

37:02uh
37:07uh
37:13uh
37:15uh
37:16uh
37:17uh
37:17i i i i understand exactly what the caller saying because there's no way to have five more pictures
37:23we get some yes but my whole thing is too you could hold your colleagues accountable when you
37:30see them slipping up you don't need to do it in front of you know anyone no there are times
37:35too when
37:35you go to the stores and sometimes as and to be fair to them there are times where
37:42you go to the stores to get the stationery and they don't have either yes because remember we
37:46are a non-profit organization so we depend on on on releases yes from the ministry of finance
37:52to procure and to obtain items i know um for instance the officers in khaki yeah
38:01many of us are wearing our own footwear because the stores don't have any regulation shoes so
38:08they will tell you go and get an invoice and stuff like that and there's a process so that
38:12they could still fulfill their obligation of providing them with their shoes some of the
38:16times you have to pay for it and you'll be reimbursed so it goes sometimes so it goes to buy
38:22a shoe so it always have sale all right guys it's time for us to take you back to basic
38:27when
38:27it comes to the rules and regulations of the road
38:38i am number two one nine six rupees in the girls and today we're doing a little questionnaire to
38:43see what you know or if you remember the stuff that would have been taught to you or you would
38:48have had to remember during you getting your driver's permit right so the question is number
38:54three we're looking at right what is the legal limit for drinking and driving in trinidad and tobago
39:01a 35 micrograms b 35 milliliters per 100 grams of breath c 35 micrograms per 100 milliliters of breath
39:13d 36 milliliters per 100 milliliters of breath well i'll tell you something when i got my license
39:20uh-huh we had no drink drive in laws okay so this question never rose but make a guess what
39:26i would
39:27imagine probably maybe the side the the c i would say yeah that is correct all right maybe they should
39:36drop it to 25 but my personal opinion all right so we move on to the next question you are
39:41approaching
39:42a two-lane roundabout which is the most appropriate lane when proceeding straight so we have a left
39:49lane b right lane c left or right lane or d doesn't matter i would say the left lane the
39:57left lane yes
39:58it makes more sense because on the left lane you go like this the one on the right lane inside
40:02will be
40:03turning to go that direction going around the roundabout so you are two for two so far sorry correct
40:09so i'm gonna ask the final question this is the make or break and it's number four okay right so
40:16when
40:16turning left at a two lane roundabout which is the most appropriate lane when proceeding a doesn't matter
40:24b left c middle d right well i say left because you're going left you stick to the left yeah
40:33so
40:33left is the answer yeah yeah all right all right join so we have so congratulations we have a prize
40:42for
40:42you oh even better yeah we have a prize for you no ticket today we have a prize congratulations again
40:48this token of appreciation is from the trading and logistics tobago limited and princess town
40:56princess town police station council
41:00thank you so much do enjoy the rest of your day we are the cloud noel highway we just had
41:06one of
41:06one of our participants here win she's able to get everything correct she didn't get none wrong
41:13she's still urging you guys look at the laws look at the regulations look at the signs because you are
41:19on the nation's road daily anyway we're still out here we're looking for more contestants
41:32and that was your back to basic today of course i hope you're able to sharpen up your skills and
41:36make
41:37sure that you do it on your own as well because this is going to make sure that you are
41:40safe and you do
41:41not have to pay any fines because we are not paying fines moving forward try and keep your money to
41:47yourselves and something that is very important which we highlighted yesterday which was the cjc which
41:53is a community justice clinic so cjc five five conversations five attorneys there's an online zoom taking place
42:00and that time is from 6 30 to 7 30 now remember it is non-criminal advice and information that
42:10is going to be
42:11delivered but it is given where you're seeing from divorce domestic violence maintenance land disputes
42:17probates and you're seeing the dates there from the 26th to the 30th and if you need to find out
42:22more
42:22information i know you could go that you could go sorry on the ttps socials to find out more be
42:29a part
42:30of that conversation and as we mentioned before it's advice of course and i want to and and you know
42:36it
42:36sometimes it goes even beyond advice because sometimes they are able to help you out immediately
42:42they really see things through to the end i want to say a heartfelt thanks to miss uh sergina kadir
42:50yes and all of our colleagues for taking their time to really assist us with this um they do it
42:59with no remuneration or anything they give they give of their time 48 attorneys from 6 to 48 leave without
43:08a charge to the ttps and i thank them i thank them i thank them for that and we are
43:13asking the public
43:14take full advantage of the situation because we know sometimes things can get out of hand a simple
43:19thing like the neighbor's child ball keep coming into my yard um people on squatting land and this one
43:26selling that one a piece and you're fighting for property that's not even ours so it really really
43:31stops things escalating um it stops things from escalating into further crime what stood out of
43:39me when i looked at the program yesterday what stood out for you is that um everything that you own
43:48at the time of the divorce the divorce is part of the divorce settlement well that stood out to you
43:53a
43:53lot and that stood out to me we need to take that break we'll be back four important numbers and
43:59facts
43:59you should know about the ttps's public satisfaction survey 100 because the survey is 100 anonymous no we
44:10are not coming after you 16 because you must be 16 years and over to participate in the survey
44:20five because the survey can be completed in just five short minutes two because the survey closes november
44:31second you can't improve what you don't measure five minutes of your time helps build the police service
44:39you want to see take the survey share your perspective and help us improve our service

47:09and we are back and remember you can give us a call at 623-1711 extension 1996 or 1997 we
47:16have a caller
47:16caller good evening good evening
47:19good evening ladies and gentlemen good evening to you sir
47:22two um two questions for you sir
47:25so one of my neighbors intervened to ask me a question
47:31and said the best person to address that would be you
47:34when you're granted an internal protection or a server relative to everyone who is
47:40i'm displaying that kind of behavior and when you took it to the station
47:44and the computer gave to the person in addition to the one that stayed in the station
47:49they were informed by the police at the station that they would have to pass it on to the
47:54court and process person which i know is contrary to the access because the access
48:00any police officer could serve the the um internal protection order and it's important that that be
48:06the person as you would know because any breaches would not be able to be
48:12taken to court unless the document is served on the party on the on the respondent right
48:18but you must
48:19that was unfortunate so i'm saying you have come here and two people of all the customer service
48:25initiatives been undertaken by the police service especially in the last year and so on and here it is
48:32people still contain these archaic um these are big and and and totally irreversed by the police
48:40and the second one is this is that i have a tree inside silver people complain to me
48:46and persons there they know have been issued expecting notices for driving a vehicle
48:52and the insurance is not in their name and this is contrary but 1451 i know that what was amended
49:00was the final penalty for the fuel of driving a vehicle with no charge because i'm saying there's a
49:06wild category of persons who operate vehicles on the nation roads who may own the service again
49:11tickets driving vehicles such as public service vehicles in the public service um people who rent vehicles
49:20from the airport or rental agencies and so on so please if you could offer some clarity on that particular
49:28situation and the one that i have done before this no fair thanks for the opportunity a great job as
49:34usual
49:34thank you so much sir yes thank you caller and and the caller has a point he is right and
49:39anybody could
49:40serve it but the protect the interim protection order anybody could serve it um again what i what i what
49:47what has happened is miss husbands um they come into a station and i want to get something served by
49:56the time
49:56you say the word serve court and process day in here come back tomorrow
50:02i looking for the one you want money in here come back
50:06so i i i could understand exactly what the caller is saying anybody could service the caller is right but
50:13normally because we have the court and process staff other persons of the opinion that all serving of
50:18any documents must be done by the court and process staff and including the officers or they do that
50:24as a loophole i wouldn't sell loophole missiles once they might just tell you i'll come back when
50:30the am warrant man or the summons man there okay so what time is usually the man or woman there
50:34during
50:35the day there's a lot of time to be coming in the morning no they work different hours they are
50:40flexible
50:40because not everybody you would be able to serve between eight to four sometimes there is somebody
50:45at home they go on to work you don't want to take it on working with no we want to
50:48be to like
50:48return to their their homes so you know they are flexible and we really task them by their workload
50:56and stuff like that they must serve the process all due process so you can call a warrant officer and
51:01say we need you to serve this well what some of them um would do from time to time they
51:06will have a dip
51:07in the station so when you come with it not with sounding that they are not there you can give
51:12it
51:12to the officer he would place it in a dip and they would contact you with the teller leaves the
51:16information with it attach your information via like probably say a paper clip and a piece of paper
51:20where they could contact you to find out where the person living what time or whether where they're
51:24working and stuff like that and they'll leave it in a dip and they'll be handed over it's in the
51:28charge room so it's it's it's safe it's something that i see done in plenty stations including the
51:32saint james police station and i have it had it had had no issues yeah but to just tell the
51:37person
51:38come back because the person is in there let's say they come back tomorrow and the process officer has
51:43caught then what yes and they come by the day after that and he has a family emergency and they
51:48come
51:48by the day after that and because of the family emergency you have to take two days um emergency leave
51:52then what happens but what if we had needed the protection order and the person dies and this is why
51:57i'm
51:58saying anybody could serve it so we need to take it from them and ensure that it is served and
52:05you
52:05went which is very important insurance yeah with respect to the insurance something was circulating is
52:09that fake news that i saw online i didn't see it but what i'm saying is when you look at
52:14the insurance
52:14a lot of the insurance certificate and i want to i'm encouraged persons to look at it it also a
52:20lot of
52:20the insurance certificates would say to you the named insured driver or any person driving
52:27with the consent of the owner over the age of 25 right no once the fine prints are on the
52:37insurance
52:38and we look and we see the fine prints and you could prove yes you're 25 and over no problem
52:43but then
52:44if the insurance tells you i only covers xyz the name the name driver and anybody driving with the
52:51owner's consent over the age of 25 and you are 23 are you covered no good but do some of
52:59your own
52:59officers comprehend what they are reading with regards to that because sometimes it just gives
53:04you are not the i'm not seeing your name on this because i am not reading further because i
53:09have booked a rental for next week it's not my all of us that's what i'm saying so it needs
53:16to make sense
53:16and even persons who are driving company vehicles it's not insured in their name with us to the
53:22country so is it very important for the officers to read understand comprehend what it is the said
53:29insurance is saying yes to make sure that they don't put themselves in a situation and as you said that
53:36i remember what you're speaking because i a mechanic really called me a film
53:41yes it was circulating online saying asking me was being charged this because he is saying um
53:46as a mechanic i need to test drive your vehicle yes and i'm saying but at that point in time
53:51you're
53:52using it with the owner's consent and you're definitely over the age yeah we have our last caller
53:56caller good evening hello yeah good evening good evening caller yes good evening to you um i i just
54:06wanted to get some information and clarification with respect to an incident that happened uh a few
54:13months ago where a gentleman went to an establishment to purchase something he would have returned the
54:19item and continued to tell him that he he had to pay a restocking fee yes um there was a
54:27bit of an
54:28incident where he would have produced a gift yes on the counter and so on so i think you remember
54:33the
54:33incident yes yes if it is legal if that is a legal thing that a proprietor could cause you to
54:42pay a
54:43restocking fee no that is my question no so let me let me let me let me let me just
54:51bring things into
54:52context because you're asking me something that really pure and standards real standards can really
54:58answer appropriately but let me just let me just encourage some thought and some imagine any some
55:04imagination you go into this establishment to purchase an item and the policy is there
55:11at that point in time you're really agreeing to the policy now i understand that bureau and standards will
55:18tell you they cannot tell you no refund no exchange i understand that as well i would have seen signs
55:23saying
55:24that that is illegal however however we would go into our car park you're paying for security you're
55:31paying for your vehicle to be back and they tell you we are not responsible for i to fall any
55:35loss of
55:35items correct so we have to be careful and we have to be the ones to determine if we want
55:40to do business
55:41based on your terms and conditions there are some persons when you're using credit card they charge you
55:45extra i don't know where that come from you have your experience at ms husband yes i don't know where
55:50that
55:50comes from either but you had to ask steph if you want that here to determine the policies of that
55:56company because i had something here to read for you all but don't worry we'll give you that information
56:01tomorrow but asps usual thank you so much for being here with us we get ready for news up next
56:05at seven continue being our targets out there be safe god bless and we're out
