Reports say that Montreal has an offer ready for Dylan Larkin if he wants to play in Canada.
Transcript
00:07wait a minute did he say the Dodgers are down three nothing
00:12welcome to the postseason Scott the Dodgers how can that happen
00:18um yeah Milwaukee appears to be the better baseball team at this at this juncture
00:23huh that's how it happens which is good for them I mean look it is also a little annoying
00:30because it seemed like maybe Milwaukee might have had the better package to offer the Tigers for
00:35Scoble they're like you know what no we're we're good we can we can beat the Dodgers I mean all
00:41you
00:41all you can say is that at the Scoble deadline if Milwaukee closes them out they won the Scoble
00:49trade deadline over the Dodgers they gave up nothing and we're better than the Dodgers now
00:53maybe they won't win the World Series which Scoble could help with but
00:59uh yep and he's not pitching tonight so
01:02um all right real quick you want to mention something with the Ed Vincent deal before we get
01:08to college football we need some help with something I think maybe you can help actually
01:13because I haven't talked to you about this yet but well with the I'm just I'm still waiting on it
01:18but
01:18what I've noticed um there was some interesting reporting uh regarding Dylan Larkin that uh David
01:26Pegnata reported the Canadians have made it clear to Detroit that if Dylan Larkin changes his mind
01:32they're willing to present a significant package and I think it would be appealing to Detroit
01:40so Montreal is a lot of young talented players they brought up a bunch of guys last year and they
01:45kind of hit the ice skate they were playing pretty well it would be interesting to see if this could
01:51play
01:52itself out now Dylan hasn't included a single Canadian team on his list by reports nor do I think
01:58he will it seems like he wants to play for an American team and more than likely be paired up
02:02with
02:02one of some of his buddies from the uh from the Olympics he clearly wants to play with Minnesota
02:07but Minnesota just doesn't have the players to offer back to Detroit unless it's one of the
02:12Olympians which isn't going to happen so it's a strange situation the longer his plays out
02:18with Dylan Larkin the longer you think is he really just going to be here because it's a weird
02:23situation and one that Sean Harkoff kind of addressed yesterday saying it's been tough on Dylan
02:27starts the season hurt you know misses the first couple games comes back it's going to take him
02:32some time to get to get back but the the players and the organization has embraced him but doesn't
02:37mean he's going to stay here so it's like this guy's in limbo out there playing on one of the
02:44top
02:45lines and there are trades that could happen if he's willing to go elsewhere but until that happens
02:52it doesn't happen but I'm curious about this one because it's it's Montreal and they do have young
02:57players that could make sense and the Montreal fans when the only road game the wings have played was in
03:04Montreal and they were chanting we want Dylan or we want Larkin or whatever it is just interesting to
03:10see if that would ever play itself out I know but if you're a guy who's on this great contract
03:16for
03:16teams at under nine million dollars a season you want to maximize that and playing for Canadian team
03:21probably doesn't do that look if if the Red Wings you don't get a blockbuster trade package back
03:31then I'm I'm not interested just keep playing Larkin Red Wings didn't create this situation they got an
03:37unhappy employee the employee it doesn't know good that does the employee note no good did not give
03:43his best so you just got a it's like a marriage that you're still together for the kids like there
03:51could be some really awkward moments that happen here too still right if the Red Wings name a captain
03:58right in the next few weeks and Larkin is still on this team it could be awkward sure to say
04:05the least
04:05I mean it's already kind of weird and strange and look once you hit the ice and you're back with
04:09your teammates and you show that you're in the fight it I think you can win over a lot of
04:13players
04:14but the longer this plays out the the stranger this gets and that's why I'm still waiting to see if
04:20they can get this Edmondson deal done quickly does that give more confidence that the people
04:26the Red Wing fans have and Sean Harkoff to get stuff done the Debrinket deal got done I know some
04:31people don't like it I think most people do like it um because you're keeping a guy who's a heck
04:36of
04:36a player for a long time in a salary world that the cap goes up and up I saw a
04:43report the other day
04:43about the the cap for the Wings that they have I think it's roughly 30 million dollars in cap space
04:50now
04:51but it if David Pagnotta put this out a couple days ago a day ago Wings have approximately 16 million
04:56cap space this season and 46.6 starting next season that's as of right now so that's with the signing
05:06of Debrinket they still have 16 million in cap space right and next year it's 46 so yeah you got
05:14plenty of room to get Edmondson done and still have cap space by the trade deadline and then next season
05:20there's still a mess load of cap space to deal with as well so they're they're in a decent situation
05:29for a for a GM but again it gets back to does the GM don't have the full authority to
05:33make these moves
05:34or is everything going to have to get cleared by ownership when it comes to big contracts well they
05:40hopefully we'll get something done here with Evanston and get them in house and then you know
05:45Larkin skate with the wing wheel on your chest well and if somebody opens up the uh the vault of
05:50players are prospects they play tonight against a winless Philadelphia team uh that's surprising
05:57to Philly is off to this horrible start I mean the Red Wings have you seen their their um goal
06:02differential I have not Philly's goal differential let me look this up it's obscene uh one moment
06:11please and I should have uh Philly's goal differential is minus 21
06:21minus 21 in eight games they are oh five and three look the wings aren't aren't playing great
06:27hockey either they're one three and two at this point but they're training in a better direction they
06:32look like they're playing better hockey it's interesting because tonight's game Lucas Raymond
06:37is being demoted he's going down the third line now Nate Danielson is promoted to play with uh
06:43with Larkin um so we'll see how how that works out um but meanwhile the top line for the Red
06:50Wings
06:50is to Brinkett Finney and Brancic Nygaard who looked incredible the other night let's see if they can
06:57build off that start stacking games together where they really look like a top line okay um we need to
07:02ask for some help uh and maybe you can help a little bit Gator I given your your background Saturday
07:08at
07:08130 in Mount Pleasant Western Michigan takes on Central Michigan college football this is a big
07:15little rivalry and the winner gets the victory cannon but does this rivalry have a nickname
07:25I don't I'm not familiar with any nickname I did some google searching I didn't see any nickname
07:30but forgive us although you might know in our state we know that Michigan State fans think Michigan is
07:41arrogant Michigan fans think Michigan State fans are annoying little brother
07:47what I don't know is what does the Western fan base think of Central fans and what do Central fans
07:58think of Western fans think of Western fans is there a reputation that one or the other has
08:05if you're a fan of Central Michigan my guess is you're probably sick of hearing about Western Michigan
08:10and their hockey and their game at the big house etc etc and if you're Western I don't know what
08:17you
08:17think of Central but I'm I'm I'm intrigued as to sort of what is the soul of this rivalry
08:25or is it just two fan bases that you get together and get smashed well they play for the victory
08:29cannon which has only been around since 2008 so it's not like that's got this rich tradition however
08:35they've been playing Western Michigan since 1907 Central Michigan played Western for since 1907 it's
08:42been around a minute now you were at Central for 35 minutes yourself yeah I was there for my freshman
08:46year
08:46in college um I will tell you that when it came to Western Michigan it felt like a bit of
08:56a friendly
08:57rivalry because people that chose to go to Central or chose to go to Western could have gone to either
