00:00Hello and welcome. Good evening. You're watching Super 6 here on India Today.
00:04I'm Akshita Nandakopal. Over the next one hour, we've got lots lined up for you.
00:07We'll get you a roundup of the big stories coming in from the southern states.
00:12So what have we got for you on this edition of Super 6?
00:15Well, we'll talk about the Supreme Court's order on quota for Dalit Muslims and Christians.
00:22What do I mean by that?
00:24Those from the backward communities who've converted to Islam and Christianity.
00:28The Supreme Court has said that no, they will have no reservation.
00:32It's a setback for the Tamil Nadu government because they were for the reservation.
00:36I'll break down that story for you.
00:38But also coming up on the show this evening, we'll talk about the TVK's first show of unity with the
00:43India bloc.
00:44Their first protest demanding the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
00:47We raised this question yesterday about why we're not seeing the TVK protesting in Chennai or in other locations
00:53demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar.
00:55Guess what? It happened today.
00:57So those two stories, much more coming your way.
01:00We'll begin with the headlines first.
01:07Supreme Court pulls up India bloc.
01:10Neta Azor, a crowd in Supreme Court on October 12th, expresses displeasure,
01:14asks Rahul Gandhi to explain his contact.
01:17Also issues notices to CEC, poor body and ECs on Rahul's plea.
01:26Amit Rao over ISA chief Neha Bora's remarks on Bangladesh.
01:31Lawyer Prashant Bhurshan admits on camp what BJP claims as fighters for regime change in India.
01:36Neha Bora claimed Bangladesh showed the way for revolution.
01:44Actor Imran Khan served notice to leave India by October 28th for participating in anti-CEC stir in Mumbai.
01:52Despite being a US citizen, actor's lawyer is to challenge the order in Bombay High Court.
02:02In an exclusive conversation with India Today Union Law Minister, Arjun Ram Maghwal claims government has the numbers
02:09and are committed to bringing in the delimitation bill in parliament very soon.
02:21Outrage against Congress MP Akai Jam explodes in JNU sex abuse case.
02:27Women BJP MPs meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, seeks sacking of Akai Jam as an MP.
02:38Prime Minister Modi hosts Asia Champs, Lords India's Nari Shakti in Japan, says 38 of 85 medals won by women
02:46athletes.
02:47Reiterates his we will do it mantra for athletes.
02:51Reiterates his we will do it mantra for athletes.
03:24We will begin with that crucial Supreme Court verdict that came in today.
03:29The top court upheld a previous Madras High Court order.
03:32What is this about?
03:33It's about quota for those who have converted from Hinduism to Islam or Christianity.
03:38Those from backward communities who have converted.
03:41The case had first come up after the Tamil Nadu government had okayed quota to be transferred
03:46for someone who had converted from Hinduism to Islam.
03:49But after the Madras High Court, the Supreme Court also has said no, that reservation cannot move forward,
03:54saying very clearly that it was for socially backward communities belonging to a certain specific caste
04:01or a certain specific sect and that cannot be moved to those who have converted and changed their religion.
04:09Now the DMK is questioning the TVK on this, saying will you challenge this particular order,
04:14which is expected to have huge political repercussions as well in Tamil Nadu.
04:21A major Supreme Court verdict has put the spotlight on reservation benefits after religious conversions.
04:27The Apex Court has upheld the Madras High Court's ruling.
04:32The Supreme Court verdict says there are no automatic reservation benefits after conversion.
04:38Conversion does not guarantee access to jobs and education quotas as reservation benefits depend on the applicable eligibility rules.
04:45The court has observed that backwardness cannot be automatically transferred after conversion.
04:51The verdict could spark a wider debate on reservation policy and may have implications for similar claims in other states.
05:00The case concerns Samir Ahmed who converted from Hinduism to Islam in 2015 and sought reservation benefits as a backward
05:08-class Muslim.
05:10The Tamil Nadu government challenged the High Court's ruling, which rejected his claim and struck down the state's order in
05:16the matter as unconstitutional.
05:19Former Tamil Nadu chief minister M.K. Stalin has urged the TVK government to file a review petition arguing that
05:26social backwardness does not disappear in a day and that the Supreme Court verdict goes against social justice.
05:34Supreme Court has upheld the Madras High Court verdict.
05:37M.K. Stalin demands that the TVK government file a review petition immediately.
05:41Immediately, Stalin says, denying this right based on a religion a person follows is social injustice.
05:48TVK government's move is being awaited.
05:51With Irfan, Pramod Madhav, for India today.
05:55Let me bring in Anisha Mathur for the latest updates of what really played out in the Supreme Court.
06:00Anisha, the question that will be asked, and this is what essentially the Tamil Nadu government political parties in the
06:06state have been raising,
06:07is that irrespective of whether a person's religion has changed, that social backwardness remains.
06:13What really does the Supreme Court have to say, you know, on this particular issue that led to this verdict?
06:19Well, see, Akshita, if you look at what the court has said, the court has in fact said exactly the
06:25opposite of what the Tamil Nadu government and the political party there are arguing.
06:29The Supreme Court is saying that social backwardness is a factor of the social stratification of a particular religion.
06:38So if you've converted from Hinduism, Sikhism or Buddhism to a religion that does not recognize those social stratifications,
06:47then you can no longer claim social backwardness.
06:51What it has also done is that it has recognized the fact that Islam does recognize certain types of social
06:58stratification,
06:59but it does not recognize a stratification that is equivalent to what is the caste system under Hinduism.
07:07Now, what the court has said very clearly is that backwardness cannot be transferred when you convert to a different
07:16religion.
07:17And you also need to take a very crucial look at what was in this particular case.
07:22What they were saying was what the Tamil Nadu government in the 2024 order had done is that if you
07:28belong to the backward caste,
07:32most backward caste or SC communities in Hinduism after conversion to Islam officiality,
07:38you could claim the benefit under the notified backward classes in Muslims.
07:45Now, what the court has said is that notified backward classes among Muslims are created on a different criteria.
07:52You cannot shift the social backwardness criteria under Hindu caste system to the backwardness criteria of Islam.
08:00And that is why the court has very clearly said that under the constitutional principles,
08:04caste-based, community-based backwardness cannot transfer if you've transferred, if you've converted to a different religion.
08:13Now, as we've been discussing, this is going to probably have major ramifications across the board.
08:19Well, the DMK is suggesting that the TBK should file a review petition.
08:22Is that something that will happen? We'll have to wait and watch.
08:25Thanks, Anisha, for the moment for joining us with all of those details.
08:29Let's move on to some political news from Tamil Nadu.
08:31We told you yesterday how the former Tamil Nadu BJP chief, K. Anna Malai,
08:36who launched We the Leaders Foundation, is all set to take his first big electoral test.
08:41He's going to be fighting the civic polls, at least his foundation is going to be.
08:45On the other hand, you've got actor Dhanush.
08:48There have been a lot of indications that he's going to be entering politics as well,
08:51much like Vijay, even now giving his fan base, his fan association, a new identity.
08:57Are we therefore seeing a change in the political landscape of Tamil Nadu?
09:02So, we decode that in our report first.
09:09Tamil Nadu politics is a chessboard where every move changes the game.
09:13This year, the Dhalapati wave changed the political landscape of Tamil Nadu.
09:19Those who dismissed Vijay as just another film star,
09:23making a debut in politics, were surprised by his political impact.
09:29Now, another film star, Dhanush, is making headlines.
09:37His fan club, which has already launched its own flag and logo,
09:41has now renamed the Dhanush Narpani Yaga.
09:49And speaking of political movements,
09:52K. Anna Malai, who left the BJP in July and launched his We the Leaders movement,
09:56has now announced plans to contest the upcoming Tamil Nadu civic body elections.
10:24Meanwhile, TVK has made its presence felt in the bi-polls,
10:28winning two constituencies and signalling its growing political ambitions.
10:34For the AIA-DMK, the challenge is mounting as new players seek to rewrite the state's political equations.
10:41For the DMK, the first challenge is to derail TVK's growth.
10:47But with new movements and possible contenders entering the fray,
10:51could Tamil Nadu be heading for yet another political shake-up?
11:03Let's open this up.
11:05Joining me on this broadcast is Sumansi Raman as well as Mr. Shekhar Iyer
11:08to decode whether we're seeing a further churn in Tamil Nadu politics.
11:12Mr. Sumansi Raman, good evening to you first, sir.
11:15With all that we've seen in the last few months,
11:17many would say that there's already been a complete change and transformation in Tamil Nadu politics.
11:21But just looking at the result of the bi-polls and the fact that you've got now Annamalai
11:26who's stepping in, making it clear that look, in the next few years,
11:29he will be looking at state elections.
11:32And then you have Dhanush who's setting the base perhaps for him to also step into politics.
11:36Do you think the whole narrative of Dravidian parties leading really in Tamil Nadu is all changing,
11:43that they could perhaps also disappear completely?
11:46Okay. So, first of all, Dhanush and Annamalai are nowhere comparable with Vijay
11:53in terms of their public appeal and stardom.
11:57Dhanush is a much, much smaller star when compared to Vijay.
12:00And he's not in the same league at all.
12:02So, he would like to try his luck because Vijay made it big.
12:07And that has attracted not only Dhanush, it has also attracted another actor called Shivakarthikeyan
12:13to try his luck as well.
12:15He's also gone the way of, you know, setting up his fan clubs in the format of a political party.
12:23You know, so that is something that is happening.
12:26But I do not believe that these are, you know, people who are guaranteed success in any manner whatsoever.
12:33Mr. Annamalai himself has become a bit of a bit player at the moment.
12:39And he's yet to prove himself.
12:40He's contested two elections and lost both of them.
12:43So, you know, the charge against him is first become a councillor and then talk.
12:47So, whether he will succeed in that now that he's moved from Parliament Assembly election
12:53to Parliament election and now to local body election.
12:56First of all, this we the leader, is it a political party?
13:00Is it a social movement?
13:01It's clearly moving towards becoming a political party.
13:04Yeah.
13:04So, he will have to register a political party and then, but of course, local body elections,
13:09you know, local issues do dominate.
13:12So, very often there are parties, independents who win in large numbers against established
13:17political parties.
13:18But I think it's good that more players are coming into the electoral fray.
13:24Simply because Tamil Nadu is sick and tired of the same two parties for the last 70 years.
13:30So, anybody coming into politics is welcome.
13:32Do you think, sir, though, that there's a void?
13:34That, you know, these leaders stepping in or stars stepping in will fill a void, essentially.
13:40And it's a question of the number two position.
13:42Not so much number one because, like you said, you know, Vijay is, at this point at least,
13:46currently, leagues apart.
13:48So, look, there are two clear players now, as Vijay himself says, there is the TVK and
13:53there is the DMK.
13:55What will happen to the AIA-DMK remains to be seen.
13:58But there are, let us say, two and a half major players in politics in Tamil Nadu.
14:03Now, does that mean if TVK does not deliver on governance, then it creates a huge opportunity
14:11for a new player?
14:13Because with a weakened AIA-DMK, the DMK then goes back to being the preeminent force.
14:18And who against the DMK?
14:20Because in Tamil Nadu, the vote bank is largely an anti-DMK vote bank.
14:25If the anti-DMK vote bank unites, they win elections.
14:28That's very simple.
14:29So, whether, so there is definitely going to be space for a third player or a new player.
14:35Who that new player is, is really the million dollar question.
14:39What will it take, Mr. Shekhar Ayaan, what will it take for a Dhanush or an Annamalai to
14:43be successful?
14:44You know, Dhanush sure has a star power, not perhaps at the same level of Vijay.
14:48But he's got a couple of years, if he chooses to enter politics, to actually work on ensuring
14:53that he has more time than Vijay to set the base for a political debut.
14:58As far as Annamalai goes, he's never really tasted any electoral success, but is known
15:02to have some sense of, you know, a following.
15:06At least if you look at social media, he has a following.
15:09So, what will it take for them to actually create an impact?
15:13Lakshita, in the case of Annamalai, we are already seeing even his social media, you know,
15:18thing has hit a plateau.
15:20Because not much has happened since he announced the party, that there was this drive for membership,
15:27that he held meetings in some places.
15:29But then he has been unable to keep up that initial momentum.
15:34And when the elections finally happened, say, the civic elections, I don't think we, the leader,
15:39even it puts up candidates, that is going to make a big impact because what Dr. Sumanthi Raman just said,
15:46the battle is between Vijay and those who are opposed to Vijay, including the DMK.
15:51And there is already a lot of talk that for Annamalai, the choice is either, you know,
15:58he has to join the anti-Vijay bandwagon or he has to be with, by joining hands with DMK,
16:05or he has to, you know, look at ways of joining hands with even Vijay.
16:10I don't know whether that's a possibility.
16:11But the big thing is, Annamalai doesn't have an extra cinematic appeal.
16:17At a time when there are so many players coming with cinematic appeal.
16:20As far as Danush is concerned, well, he is, he may be a strange son-in-law of Rajini Khan,
16:27the superstar.
16:28But there has been a lot of buzz about Rajini Khan's wife, Lata, coming to Delhi,
16:33meeting a lot of people, talk of, you know, her own possibility of making a debut, you know, in politics.
16:41So there are a lot of speculation.
16:42But Danush, you know, at the moment it looks like, I mean, the path we have seen of Kamala Hassan.
16:48The Kamala Hassan, seen as a top-of-the-mind kind of actor, but, and he set up that Makkal
16:54Nidi Mahiyam,
16:55but finally failed to click because he could not, you know, have a way with what he was actually trying
17:02to achieve.
17:02So he's also not, he's not a Masi star, sir, like, you know, Vijay or Rajini, Masi.
17:07They have, in fact, appeal across the state.
17:09And Danush, Danush is again not a, you know, Masi-based actor.
17:13So there is, and by the way, let us not forget Ajit also, actor Ajit, who has a fan following,
17:20and recently the Vijay meeting up with Ajit in UK.
17:26Yeah.
17:26The direction with the motor race, sporting event and etc, etc.
17:30But that is also a lot of talk of buzz because I can say for a fact that some attempts
17:36were made before the Tamil Nadu elections
17:38by one political party to, you know, contact Ajit to see whether he could come in.
17:43But then Ajit and Vijay are good friends.
17:46So personal friendships do matter in this kind of political possibilities.
17:50Well, nobody would believe that on social media because of the rivalry that their fandom is involved in.
17:56And also, sir, I will say that I've spoken to Mr. Ajit multiple times and he's very, very clear.
18:00His passion is motorsports, not politics.
18:02He wants nothing to do with politics and he's made that amply clear to me.
18:06But Mr. Sumansi Raman, if you look at Danush, if you look at Anna Malaya and the timing really of
18:11them making these moves,
18:12it's not like, you know, they're taking the full-fledged political plunge immediately.
18:15They're taking their time, they're setting their base because they know that, you know,
18:19if they're looking at elections and create an impact, they have time right up till 2031.
18:23And many would argue now is perhaps the best time for new players to step in
18:27because they've seen, one, the success of Vijay.
18:30Second, that there is a fatigue with Dravidian parties.
18:33Yeah, I think that both of them, including the likes of Sivakarthikeyan also, they sense that.
18:40They sense what if Vijay fails.
18:42People are not extremely keen to go back to the DMK.
18:46So, who, if not the TVK becomes a very, very interesting question.
18:53So, if people are looking for a younger generation of leadership and they do not want the two Dravidian parties
18:59back,
19:00then that leaves you with TVK versus who.
19:04And that is the void that these various, you know, people are trying to target and fill.
19:12I'm not too sure that either Annamalai or Danush would be very successful
19:18simply because of the track record that they have shown.
19:22So, what if, and this is of course a hypothetical situation because it hasn't happened,
19:27but what if Rajini Khan steps in to back Danush, sir?
19:31No, I don't think so.
19:32I think, see, Mr. Rajini Khan's time in politics is long over.
19:36I don't think that if he, even if he endorses, and I don't see him endorsing his son-in-law,
19:43even if he did that, I do not expect it to have any impact.
19:48In fact, had Rajini Khan himself contested also, he would have lost.
19:53He would have lost quite badly in those days.
19:56The reason for Vijay's success is the timing and most importantly, the DMK's government's performance.
20:06Without the DMK, Vijay would not be in power.
20:09He owes his office to the DMK and its ruinous governance of five years.
20:15Okay, so that you say is the biggest factor.
20:17Mr. Shekhar Iyer, you know, if I were to focus for a moment on Danush
20:21and the fact that you have all of these stars, like Mr. Sumansi Raman also highlighted,
20:25the fact that Shivakarthi Kane has also been dropping these hints
20:27that he could be looking at starting some kind of a movement.
20:31These stars sure may be inspired by Vijay.
20:34But do you think that it's easier said than done
20:36for all of them who are setting up these fan associations,
20:39thinking that the next step will be politics?
20:43Akshita, you know, just by adding Yakam to their, you know, fan club,
20:49you know, they are not going to follow the Vijay's route
20:51because Vijay also did it in 2009.
20:54See, one more thing.
20:55See, Danush, Shivakarthi Kane,
20:57they are looking at their own social background,
20:59which is also very important in Tamil Nadu politics.
21:02But then Vijay will command the support of women
21:06for some more months to come, if not years,
21:09because that is his biggest plus point.
21:12And Danush or Shivakarthi Kane do not exactly fall in the league
21:17of being extremely popular like Vijay with women voters particularly,
21:21because Vijay's success is largely because
21:23the minorities vote shifted, the women vote shifted,
21:26and also some sections of OBC votes.
21:30So, therefore, you know,
21:32Tamil Nadu is again back to this caste arithmetic,
21:35how it works.
21:36Well, Danush has also, and Shivakarthi Kane also,
21:39they have always played that, you know,
21:41the kind of youth from those underprivileged backgrounds,
21:44you know, working hard against the system and making it big.
21:47This is a typical of their stories compared to Vijay,
21:50whose films have been largely entertainers,
21:53more of a romantic thing, and also a person who fights for women's honor.
21:58No, sure, sir, messaging matters in these films,
21:59but ultimately, I think it comes down to the kind of support,
22:02the fan base, the craze over these stars,
22:06and I don't think any of them can really compare to Vijay.
22:09Their film's success will matter for them to also be successful in politics,
22:13whether they like it or not.
22:14That's what helps, really, in setting them up for success
22:18in the manner that Vijay tasted.
22:19But thank you very much, Mr. Subhansi Raman, Mr. Shekhar Iyer,
22:22for joining us.
22:22Interesting that, you know, you're seeing the Tamil Nadu political landscape
22:26expanding, because for decades,
22:27it's been essentially ruled by just two political parties,
22:30and suddenly now, there are so many more options entering the fray.
22:35And so, already, I can tell you,
22:37I know it's very, very early on,
22:39but in the next few months, years,
22:41we're going to see some very interesting political developments
22:43shaping up for 2029 and 2031.
22:46Let's cut across to a news break coming in.
22:55Okay, a quick update coming in on El Murugan,
22:59who, remember, stepped down as a union minister.
23:02He offered to resign.
23:04He requested Prime Minister Modi to accept his resignation,
23:06saying he wanted to focus on the state of Tamil Nadu.
23:08And a quick update coming in on that,
23:10the president has now accepted the resignation of Dr. El Murugan.
23:14This has happened, of course, as advised by the Prime Minister,
23:17which means El Murugan's request has been accepted.
23:21He had taken to social media to publicly appeal to the Prime Minister,
23:24saying that while I've been able to serve the nation as a union minister,
23:28I would like to now focus on Tamil Nadu.
23:31With, in fact, this step of the president approving his resignation,
23:34all eyes now will be on Tamil Nadu.
23:37To see the churn that happens there,
23:38a lot of talk that you could see now change in the Tamil Nadu BJP leadership,
23:43and perhaps El Murugan taking up a role there.
23:46And, of course, in Delhi, all the buzz over a cabinet reshuffle.
23:57Let's get you now an India Today exclusive
24:00with Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal,
24:02who was asked at the Panchayat Rajasthan
24:06on exactly what will happen on delimitation.
24:10Meghwal, speaking to India today,
24:11has said that the DMK is on board,
24:13that the DMK will back the delimitation bill.
24:17Arjun Ram Meghwal has said that
24:18the BJP is in touch with DMK.
24:21They are with us.
24:22We have their support.
24:24They have also, in fact, gone ahead and said
24:26that a lot of southern states are now on board.
24:30Most of the parties, regional parties, have agreed.
24:32It's just the Congress that continues to oppose delimitation.
24:37The 50% of the formality says that
24:39these seats will increase the amount of delimitation.
24:42The DAKSHIN will lose.
24:43It's not that much.
24:45The amount of delimitation is now on board.
24:49The percentage of delimitation will lose.
24:51No, it's not.
24:53Like you said,
24:54this is the one that has also been given.
24:55I also give you.
24:57UPSC.
24:57This was saying the DMK.
24:58You have got less than the DMK.
25:00I understand.
25:01We have talked about DMK.
25:03How do you understand?
25:18Pramod Madhav is joining us with more details on this.
25:20Pramod, what are you picking up from your sources?
25:23Is there some dialogue between the BJP and the DMK?
25:27Is the DMQ on board?
25:29Well, it's going to be quite a kind of like a fodder for the opposition.
25:33I mean, especially for the Congress over here, Rakshita.
25:35Because already it's been like, you know, kind of an allegation that is being placed against the DMK.
25:40Why the Congress, especially Manikam Tagore,
25:41why DMK is not strongly opposing various important aspects considering the delimitation and such.
25:46We know that it was MK Stalin who burned the delimitation bill ahead of the election campaign.
25:51And also now, very clearly, DMK says that they are waiting for only fair delimitation
25:55by which now a BJP minister coming forward and saying this,
25:58this is something that's going to blow up very big in the state of Tamil Nadu
26:02because right now, DMK will have to make its stance clear.
26:05Was there any kind of a conversation held between BJP and DMK
26:08because it's an accusation that is also being placed by TVK over here, Rakshita.
26:13All right.
26:14Thanks very much, Pramod, for joining us with those details.
26:16Interesting to see what really plays out because the DMK right now has made it very clear
26:20they're no longer a part of the India bloc.
26:23There's been some talk of a regional bloc that they're trying to form.
26:25But in the meanwhile, on the issue of delimitation, will there be backing from the DMK to the central government?
26:32And then the question, as always in politics, what's the give and take?
26:36Let's move on.
26:39Now, we've been seeing anti-SIR protests, demands for the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar across the country.
26:47In Tamil Nadu, however, there's been one question for the last many days.
26:51Where is the TVK?
26:52Why haven't they been out on the streets?
26:54And while you've heard many comments against SIR, even from the TVK,
26:59so far, there hasn't been a word on CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
27:03That's changed today when the TVK hit the streets for the first time in Chennai,
27:07along with their India bloc allies, along with the Congress,
27:10demanding very clearly the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
27:15The protest in Chennai was led by the Congress.
27:17And so there was TVK, VCK and the CPIM in attendance, the MDMK as well, as you can see there.
27:24VCK Chief Tol Thirma Vallivan also claimed that he had advised Stalin during the election
27:29to change constituencies, not to fight from Kolotur.
27:32But Stalin had dismissed concerns.
27:34Tol Thirma Vallivan says the reason he had advised Stalin is because of SIR.
27:38Remember, the DMK today is saying that it's because of SIR that Stalin lost
27:43because one lakh votes were deleted during the exercise in the Kolotur constituency.
27:48Questions over the impact of SIR have resurfaced.
27:51And the DMK, of course, wasn't part of this particular protest.
27:54They've made it very clear that they believe it's due to SIR that they've lost.
27:57The TVK is also anti-SIR, saying we'd have won more seats, if not for the exercise.
28:05India Alliance has called for a massive protest in the city of Chennai, and that's what you see.
28:09The colors of flags over here, MDMK, VCK, CPI, CPIM, Congress Party, and along with this,
28:15TVK is also participating for the first time.
28:18And the important aspect over here is that there you see, that is the Chief Election Commissioner,
28:22Gyanesh Kumar, with his mouth shut with the necks.
28:24That is the reason for this protest.
28:25This is about the SIR, Special Intensity Revision.
28:28And very clearly, all the netas are also present over here.
28:31You have Thirma Vallavan on this poster, and you also have the Chief Minister Vijay,
28:35who for the very first time, his party, is supporting it right now.
28:38In fact, over here, we can also see that all the leaders of this particular alliance have also come over
28:42here.
28:43They're also standing over there.
28:44We saw Manikam Tagore, Vaiko, and other leaders also present at this particular location.
28:48This is a protest that has been brought in for, you know, against the anti-SIR.
28:54So that's Manikam Tagore, who's also present at this location.
28:56And you also have the various leaders, other party leaders as well.
29:00In fact, MDMK's Vaiko is also present over here.
29:04CPIM's Shanmugam is also present over here.
29:06This is how they are bringing in the solidarity against the SIR over here.
29:11Very clearly, they say that Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar, must resign.
29:18The other party gets a leadership of the ETS, and then it is now beyond their fight.
29:20So they say, you must also talk about the issue of the SIR in the front and the UTS.
29:29They say, I will tell you, but you only tell about the issue of the SPIR.
29:30And then you've said, that the people who've vaccinated for it,
29:34so the people who've given the UTS,
29:35they will return to this UTS.
29:35They've done a lot of the impact on the BLE,
29:36and you support them.
29:38They've done a lot of the program and they've sent.
29:41From the UTS,
29:43the first time you move on,
29:49So, about this protest over here, your participation.
29:57Narendra Modi government attempted to murder democracy.
30:10The darkness of authoritarianism has spread, particularly in the capital city of Delhi.
30:19So, Gyanesh Kumar has become the polygon and agent of Narendra Modi.
30:28Now the students' revolution has broken out.
30:33It is unprecedented in Delhi. Not even during the emergency such a protest has happened.
30:41So, this will not stop. This will erupt, as Mr. Rahul Gandhi stated, after a small lull because of celebrations.
30:52This will erupt again. And this will overthrow not only Gyanesh Kumar and Narendra Modi's regime also from the minds
31:05of the electorate in the ensuing parliament election.
31:08This is my observation.
31:13We've been seeing a whole lot of viral moments from Tamil Nadu, particularly the Assembly.
31:18One of those that's kind of defined Tamil Nadu politics.
31:21And every time you see a TVK win, you'll see the gesture by Chief Minister Vijay using his hand, the
31:28slashing gesture.
31:29Well, the DMK has referred to this to claim that it's very similar to the RSS gesture as well.
31:35The RSS is formed of a salute.
31:37The DMK has drawn a parallel between the two.
31:40But guess what?
31:41This gesture was actually something that DMK Chief Stalin had done during seat-sharing talks,
31:46which was then picked up by the TVK and used to pull him up, to attack him.
31:51So, it's interesting really how this gesture is now at the heart of a political fight and over political ownership.
31:58Take a look at this report.
32:15And now, branded RSS style by the DMK.
32:21One hand gesture, multiple political interpretations.
32:26And now, a whole new political controversy in Tamil Nadu.
32:35The DMK has added a fresh twist to the gesture that has become Vijay's political trademark,
32:42drawing a comparison with the RSS Dhaj Pranath.
32:49The DMK's IT wing claims the gesture proves the TVK and the RSS are one and the same,
32:57branding Vijay the RSS' adopted child.
33:00But rewind to March.
33:03It was then Chief Minister M.K. Stalin who first grabbed headlines with this slicing-hand movement,
33:10responding to a question on seat-sharing talks with the Congress ahead of the Assembly elections.
33:18Months later, with the political tables turned and the TVK in power,
33:24it was the giant slayer, V.S. Babu, who used the gesture to tell Stalin that he was finished in
33:31Kola Thur.
33:33And then the super viral moment.
33:35Vijay brought the gesture back into the spotlight,
33:39while responding to the motion of thanks on the Governor's address in the Assembly.
34:06And just like that, the gesture had a life of its own.
34:10The TVK leadership, with Vijay at the forefront,
34:14made the same gesture after the party's twin Vipole victories in Madhurantakam and Dharapuram.
34:21Tamil Nadu Minister Arun Raj posted a video of medical aspirants mimicking Vijay's now famous hand movement.
34:30Stalin made the move.
34:31Vijay made it a phenomenon.
34:33And now the DMK has given it an RSS connection.
34:38Bureau Report, India Today.
34:44I'm slipping for a short break here on Super 6.
34:46Coming up on the other side, we'll talk about the festival in Tamil Nadu today.
34:50I'm referring to the Rajini fever, the Talaivar festival, if you will.
34:54Jailer 2 is released to WOW Reviews.
34:56It was celebrations this morning during the first day, first show in Chennai,
35:01in different parts of Tamil Nadu.
35:03Decades on, some things just don't change.
35:06So you get you some of the highlights, some of the excitement from the ground.
35:24Jailer fever has gripped Tamil Nadu.
35:27A film release is never just about the big screen for Rajnikanth.
35:30It's literally an emotion.
35:32It brings thousands together.
35:34And we saw that once again.
35:36From towering cutouts, milk abhishek comes temple prayers and fans dancing on the streets.
35:41Jailer 2 has sparked celebrations across India and overseas as well.
35:46Very often you wonder what's with this craze.
35:49Well, you have to see it to believe it.
35:54Tiger, Mutuvel Pondia.
36:12Forget red carpets.
36:18For Rajnikanth, the world rollouts garlands.
36:27Milk Abhishekham and his sea of dancing fans.
36:40The superstars return as Tiger, Mutuvel Pondia, has turned the release of Jailer 2 into a festival.
36:52With firecrackers lighting up the streets, prayers filling temples and theatres buzzing with excitement.
37:10From Chennai to Bangaloro, fans queued up outside the theatres for early morning shows,
37:17turning the film's arrival into a spectacle of unmatched fan devotion.
37:29In Chennai, long queues snaked outside cinema halls,
37:33while houseful votes reflected the staggering anticipation surrounding a much-awaited sequel.
37:44And in Tamil Nadu, the celebrations reached towering heights, quite literally,
37:50with fans erecting a massive 30-foot cutout of Rajnikanth outside the theatre.
37:55Fans also performed the traditional milk Abhishekham and burst firecrackers to mark the occasion.
38:06However, the celebrations went beyond the streets.
38:10Fans also offered prayers for the film's success and Rajnikanth's well-being.
38:15In Madurai, devotees performed special rituals.
38:22In Tiruchara Palli, fans created Rangolis, lit lamps and organised special Poochas.
38:37Interestingly, the Rajni temple added a festive touch with the Navratri Kodu,
38:42featuring more than 230 characters from the actors' films.
38:54Meanwhile, Rajnikanth's daughter, Sondarya, unveiled a promotional LED banner at Chennai's Kashi Theatre.
39:07She also danced with fans to a song from the first film, adding to the celebrations.
39:14And this phenomenon is not confined to one city, one state or even one country.
39:22The Talaiva fever continues to cross borders, bringing fans together in a celebration that only Rajnikanth can command.
39:34Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailia 2 features Mohanlal, Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakrabarti and Chaki Shroff in pivotal roles.
39:49For now, Rajnikanth fans have made one thing clear.
39:54When Talaiva arrives, it is not just a film release, it's an emotion.
40:01Entertainment Bureau, India today.
40:06Rajnikanth is back on the big screen.
40:08Talaiva fever has taken over theatres worldwide, as Jailia 2 has finally hit cinemas,
40:13turning its much-awaited release into a full-blown celebration.
40:16Let's give you a sense of what to expect from Jailia 2, if you're planning to watch the film in
40:22the coming days.
40:37Age may be just a number, but superstardom is forever.
40:46Every time the superstar announces a new film, the excitement spills far beyond cinema halls.
40:57The fans celebrate, social media erupts, and the box office braces for a storm.
41:03This time, it's no different.
41:39Jailia 2 brings back the winning team,
41:41behind the blockbuster phenomenon.
41:43He's got someone above him.
41:48I've seen a sniper who's the first sniper.
41:50I've never seen him.
41:53Coffee or tea?
41:55Come on.
41:56Coffee or tea?
41:57Coffee or tea?
41:57Coffee or tea?
41:57It's not the choice.
41:58It's not the choice.
42:01I don't know if you're going to kill the police.
42:03We're going to kill the police.
42:05Oh, you know.
42:07You can see it.
42:07Can you see it?
42:30A retired prison warden who was forced back into action after his son became the target
42:37of dangerous criminals.
42:46Blending stylish action, dark humour and Nelson's signature filmmaking, the film went on
42:53to become one of the highest-grossing Tamil releases of 2023.
43:07And one of the year's biggest commercial triumphs.
43:11But if the first film raised the bar, the sequel looks determined to shatter it.
43:24Interestingly, Mohan Lal and Shivaraj Kumar are expected to reprise their memorable cameo
43:29appearances from the first film.
43:33In fact, the makers have widened the franchise's star power by bringing several prominent faces
43:39from Hindi cinema on board.
43:45Mithuncha Krivarti, Vidya Balan and Hrithik Roshan have joined the cast in pivotal roles.
43:59As the franchise returns with familiar faces, fresh additions and bigger ambitions,
44:12Jailer 2 has only added to the excitement surrounding its next big screen outing.

44:48If you've seen Jailer 1, you know that there were several memorable cameos, several surprise appearances.
44:54And now in Jailer 2, the director seems to have taken things a notch higher.
44:58Bollywood stars, South Indian superstars, surprise appearances, Jailer 2 has it all.
45:03I'm leaving you with this report.
45:21When Rajni Khan returns to the big screen, it's an event in itself.
45:33But with Jailer 2, there's another reason for fans to be excited.
45:37The sheer number of stars sharing the screen with the liver.
45:48From Bollywood to Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannar cinema,
45:52Nelson Dilip Kumar has brought together quite an ensemble.
46:00Let's begin with Vidya Balin.
46:04The actor makes a full-fledged Tamil cinema debut with Jailer 2,
46:09playing a character named Kantha.
46:15For Vidya, who has previously spoken about facing setbacks
46:19during our early attempts to enter South Indian cinema,
46:23this film marks a significant new chapter.
46:25And sharing screen space with Rajni Khan only makes it more special.
46:33Then, there's Hrithik Roshan.
46:39And this appearance comes with an interesting connection.
46:42Nearly four decades ago, a young Hrithik appeared alongside Rajni Khanth
46:47in the 1986 film, Bhagwan Dada.
47:03Now the two are reunited on screen after 40 years.
47:08And the Bollywood connection doesn't end there.
47:12Veteran actor, Mithun Chakravaite, is also part of Jailer 2,
47:16marking another on-screen collaboration with Rajni Khanth.
47:30Interestingly, the two had previously worked together
47:33in the 1989 film, Bhrashtacharya.
47:47This time, Mithun is the part of the new conflict facing
47:50Tiger Muttavil Pandya.
47:59Another name that has caught everyone's attention
48:01is Vijay Sethupati.
48:05The actor has been linked
48:07to a special appearance in Jailer 2.
48:16But what would be Jailer
48:18without its memorable cameos?
48:27Remember Mohanlal's Matthew
48:29and Shivaraj Kumar's Narsimha from the first film?
48:31Both stars have returned for the sequel.
48:41Their appearances in the 2023 film
48:43became major talking points
48:45and the makers have brought them for another round.
48:52Jackie Shroff, who was also the part of the original film,
48:55also returns to the franchise.
49:02And then there's Nora Fatehi.
49:05The actor and dancer features in the special song
49:08composed by Anirudh Ravi-chan.
49:17And while Rajnikanth remains the biggest attraction,
49:20the real excitement
49:21is also about seeing
49:23how all these stars
49:24fit into one story.
49:30Because this time,
49:32Tiger Muttavil Pandya
49:34certainly is not arriving alone.
