00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:56Psalm 108
05:00I am determined, O God.
05:02I will sing and praise you with my whole heart.
05:06Awake, O stringed instrument and harp.
05:08I will wake up at dawn.
05:11I will give you thanks before the nations, O Lord.
05:15I will sing praises to you before foreigners.
05:19For your loyal love extends beyond the sky, and your faithfulness reaches the clouds.
05:26Rise up above the sky, O God.
05:29May your splendour cover the whole earth.
05:32Deliver by your power and answer me, so that the ones you love may be safe.
05:39God has spoken in his sanctuary.
05:42I will triumph.
05:43I will parcel out Shechem.
05:46The valley of Succoth I will measure off.
05:49Gilead belongs to me as does Manasseh.
05:52Ephraim is my helmet.
05:54Judah my royal scepter.
05:57Moab is my washbasin.
05:59I will make Edom serve me.
06:01I will shout in triumph over Philistia.
06:05Who will lead me into the fortified city?
06:08Who will bring me to Edom?
06:12Have you not rejected us, O God?
06:15O God, you do not go into battle with our armies.
06:22Give us help against the enemy, for any help men might offer is futile.
06:28By God's power we will conquer.
06:31He will trample down our enemies.
06:35Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
06:39as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
06:43world without end.
06:45Amen.
06:51Psalm 109
06:57O God, whom I praise, do not ignore me,
07:01for they say cruel and deceptive things to me.
07:03They lie to me.
07:05They surround me and say hateful things.
07:08They attack me for no reason.
07:11They repay my love with accusations,
07:14but I continue to pray.
07:17They repay me evil for good and hateful love.
07:22Appoint an evil man to testify against him.
07:25May an accuser stand at his right side.
07:28When he is judged, he will be found guilty.
07:32Then his prayer will be regarded as sinful.
07:35May his days, may his days be few, may another take his job.
07:39May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow.
07:44May his children roam around begging, asking for handouts,
07:49as they leave their ruined home.
07:52May the creditor seize all he owns.
07:55May strangers loot his property.
07:59May no one show him kindness.
08:02May no one have compassion on his fatherless children.
08:06May his descendants be cut off.
08:09May the memory of them be wiped out by the time the next generation arrives.
08:15May his ancestors' sins be remembered by the Lord.
08:20May his mother's sin not be forgotten.
08:24May the Lord be constantly aware of them
08:27and cut off the memory of his children from the earth.
08:31For he never bothered to show kindness.
08:34He harassed the oppressed and the needy
08:36and killed the disheartened.
08:39He loved to curse others,
08:41so those curses have come back upon him.
08:44He had no desire to bless anyone,
08:47so he has experienced no blessings.
08:51He has made cursing a way of life,
08:53so curses poured into his stomach like water
08:56and seeped into his bones like oil.
09:00May a curse attach itself to him
09:03like a garment one puts on
09:05or a belt one wears continually.
09:09May the Lord repay my accusers in this way,
09:13those who say evil things about me.
09:17O sovereign Lord, intervene on my behalf
09:20for the sake of your reputation.
09:22Because your loyal love is good, deliver me.
09:25For I am oppressed and needy
09:28and my heart beats violently within me.
09:32I am fading away like a shadow at the end of the day.
09:36I am shaken off like a locust.
09:39I am so starved my knees shake.
09:42I have turned into skin and bones.
09:46I am disdained by them.
09:48When they see me, they shake their heads.
09:51Help me, O Lord, my God,
09:53because you are faithful to me, deliver me.
09:57Then they will realize this is your work
09:59and that you, Lord, have accomplished it.
10:02They curse, but you will bless.
10:05When they attack, they will be humiliated,
10:08but your servant will rejoice.
10:11My accusers will be covered with shame
10:13and draped in humiliation as if it were a robe.
10:18I will thank the Lord profusely.
10:20In the middle of a crowd I will praise him
10:23because he stands at the right hand of the needy
10:26to deliver him from those who threaten his life.
10:30Glory be to the Father and to the Son
10:33and to the Holy Spirit,
10:35as it was in the beginning,
10:37is now and ever shall be.
10:39World without end.
10:42Amen.
10:49The Prophet Zechariah chapter 9
10:54Yahweh's word is against the land of Hadrach
10:56and will rest upon Damascus.
10:59For the eye of man and all of the tribes of Israel
11:03is towards Yahweh
11:05and Hamath also which borders on it,
11:09Tyre and Sidon, because they are very wise.
11:13Tyre built herself a stronghold
11:15and heaped up silver like the dust,
11:18fine gold like the mire of the streets.
11:21But behold, the Lord will dispossess her
11:24and he will strike her power in the sea.
11:27She will be devoured with fire.
11:31Ashkelon will see it and fear.
11:34Gaza also and will writhe in agony,
11:37as will Ekron,
11:39for her expectation will be disappointed.
11:42And the king will perish from Gaza
11:44and Ashkelon will no longer be inhabited.
11:50Foreigners will dwell in Ashdod
11:52and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.
11:56I will take away his blood out of his mouth
11:58and his abominations from between his teeth
12:02and he will also be a remnant for our God
12:05and he will be as a chieftain in Judah
12:08and Ekron as a Jebusite.
12:12I will encamp around my house against the army
12:15that no one pass through or return.
12:18No oppressor will pass through them any more
12:21for now I have seen with my eyes.
12:26Rejoice greatly, daughter Zion.
12:28Shout, daughter of Jerusalem.
12:31Behold, your king comes to you.
12:34He is righteous and having salvation,
12:38lowly and riding on a donkey,
12:41even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
12:46I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim
12:49and the horse from Jerusalem
12:51and the battle bow will be cut off
12:54and he will speak peace to the mountains
12:56and his dominion will be from sea to sea
13:00and from the river to the ends of the earth.
13:04As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant,
13:08I have set free your prisoners from the pit
13:11in which there is no water.
13:13Turn to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope.
13:17Even today I declare that I will restore double to you.
13:21For indeed I have been to Judah as a bow for me.
13:25I have filled the bow with Ephraim
13:28and I will stir up your son's iron
13:30against your son's grease
13:32and will make you like the sword of a mighty man.
13:37Yahweh will be seen over them
13:39and his arrow will flash like lightning
13:42and the Lord Yahweh will blow the trumpet
13:46and will go with the whirlwinds of the south.
13:50Yahweh of Ames will defend them
13:52and they will destroy and overcome with sling stones.
13:56They will drink and roar as though with wine
13:59and they will be filled like bowls,
14:02like the corners of the altar.
14:05Yahweh their God will save them in that day
14:08as the flock of his people
14:10for they are like the jewels of a crown
14:13lifted on high over his land.
14:17For see how great is his goodness
14:19and how great is his beauty.
14:23Grain will make the young men flourish
14:25and new wine the virgins.
14:29This is the word of the Lord.
14:32Thanks be to God.
14:45Mary said,
14:47My soul exalts the Lord
14:49and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour
14:53because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
14:59For from now on all generations will call me blessed
15:03because he who is mighty has done great things for me
15:08and holy is his name.
15:10From generation to generation
15:13he is merciful to those who fear him.
15:17He has demonstrated power with his arm.
15:20He has scattered those whose pride wells up
15:23from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
15:26He has brought down the mighty from their thrones
15:29and has lifted up those of lowly position.
15:33He has filled the hungry with good things
15:36and has sent the rich away empty.
15:39He has helped his servant Israel
15:42remembering his mercy
15:44as he promised to our ancestors
15:47to Abraham
15:48and to his descendants forever.
15:52Glory be to the Father
15:54and to the Son
15:55and to the Holy Spirit
15:56as it was in the beginning
15:59is now and ever shall be
16:01world without end.
16:04Amen.
16:11The Gospel according to Saint Luke
16:13Chapter 16
16:16Jesus said to the disciples
16:19There was once a rich man
16:21who was informed of accusations
16:23that his manager was wasting his assets.
16:27So he called in the manager
16:30and said to him
16:32What is this I hear about you?
16:35Turn in the account of your administration
16:37because you can no longer be my manager.
16:42Then the manager said to himself
16:44What should I do?
16:46My master is taking my position away from me.
16:49I am not strong enough to dig
16:51and I am too ashamed to beg.
16:55I do what to do
16:56so that when I am put out of management
16:58people will welcome me into their homes.
17:02So he contacted his master's debtors
17:04one by one.
17:05He asked the first
17:07How much do you owe my master?
17:09The man replied
17:11One hundred measures of olive oil.
17:14The manager said to him
17:15Take a bill
17:17Sit down quickly and write fifty.
17:20Then he said to another
17:22How much do you owe?
17:25And the man said
17:26A hundred measures of wheat.
17:29The manager said to him
17:30Take your bill
17:31and write eighty.
17:34The master commended
17:36the dishonest manager
17:37because he had acted shrewdly.
17:40For the people of this world
17:42are more shrewd
17:43in dealing with their contemporaries
17:45than the people of light.
17:47I tell you
17:48make friends for yourselves
17:50by how you use worldly wealth
17:52so that when it runs out
17:54you will be welcomed
17:55into eternal homes.
17:59The one who is faithful
18:00in a very little
18:01is also going to be faithful
18:03in much.
18:04And the one who is dishonest
18:06in a little
18:07is also dishonest in much.
18:10If then you haven't been trustworthy
18:12in handling worldly wealth
18:14who is going to entrust you
18:16with true riches?
18:19If you haven't been trustworthy
18:20with someone else's property
18:23who will give you
18:24your own?
18:26For no servant
18:27can serve two masters
18:28for either he will
18:30hate the one
18:30and love the other
18:31or he will be devoted
18:33to the one
18:34and despise the other.
18:37You cannot serve
18:38God
18:38and money.
18:41The Pharisees
18:42who loved money
18:43heard this
18:44and ridiculed him
18:45but Jesus said to them
18:48you are the ones
18:49who justify yourselves
18:50in men's eyes
18:51but God knows
18:53what is in your hearts
18:54for what is highly prized
18:57amongst men
18:57is completely detestable
19:00in God's sight.
19:03There was a rich man
19:04who dressed in purple
19:06and fine linen
19:07and who feasted
19:08sumptuously every day.
19:10At the gate
19:11lay a poor man
19:12named Lazarus
19:13whose body
19:14was covered in sores
19:15and who longed
19:17to eat
19:17what fell
19:18from the rich man's table.
19:20In addition
19:21the dogs would come
19:23and lick his sores.
19:25Now the poor man died
19:27and was carried
19:28by the angels
19:29to Abraham's side.
19:31Later the rich man
19:33also died
19:33and was buried.
19:34In hell
19:35he was in torment
19:36and he looked up
19:38and saw Abraham
19:39far off
19:40with Lazarus
19:41at his side.
19:44And so he called out
19:46Father Abraham
19:47have mercy on me
19:48send Lazarus
19:50to dip the tip
19:51of his finger
19:52in water
19:52and cool my tongue
19:54because I am in anguish
19:56in the fire.
19:59But Abraham said
20:00Child remember
20:02in your lifetime
20:03you received
20:04your good things
20:05and like Lazarus
20:07bad things.
20:09But he is comforted here
20:11and you are
20:11in anguish.
20:14Besides all this
20:15a great chasm
20:16has been fixed
20:17between us
20:18so that those
20:19who want to cross over
20:20from here to you
20:21cannot do so
20:22and no one can cross
20:24from there
20:25to us.
20:27So the rich man
20:28said
20:29Then I beg you
20:30father
20:31send Lazarus
20:32to my father's house
20:33for I have five brothers
20:35to warn them
20:36so that they don't
20:37come into this
20:38place of torment.
20:41But Abraham replied
20:42They have Moses
20:44and the prophets
20:45they must respond
20:47to them.
20:49But the rich man
20:51said
20:51No father Abraham
20:53but if someone
20:54from the dead
20:55goes to them
20:55they will repent.
20:59He replied to them
21:00Even if they do not
21:02respond to Moses
21:03and the prophets
21:04they will not be convinced
21:06even if someone
21:08rises from the dead.
21:11This is the word
21:12of the Lord.
21:14Thanks be to God.
21:25Now according to your word
21:27Sovereign Lord
21:28permit your servant
21:30to depart in peace
21:31for my eyes
21:33have seen your salvation
21:35that you have prepared
21:36in the presence
21:37of all peoples
21:39a light
21:40for revelation
21:41to the Gentiles
21:42and for glory
21:44to your people
21:45Israel.
21:48Glory be to the Father
21:49and to the Son
21:50and to the Holy Spirit
21:51as it was
21:53in the beginning
21:54is now
21:54and ever shall be
21:56world without end.
21:58Amen.
22:03I believe in God
22:05the Father Almighty
22:06maker of heaven
22:08and earth
22:09and in Jesus Christ
22:10his only Son
22:11our Lord
22:13who was conceived
22:14by the Holy Spirit
22:15born of the Virgin Mary
22:17suffered
22:18unto Pontius Pilate
22:21was crucified
22:22dead
22:23and buried
22:24he descended
22:26into hell
22:26on the third day
22:28he rose again
22:29from the dead
22:30he ascended
22:32into heaven
22:32and is
22:33sitting at the right
22:34hand of God
22:35the Father Almighty
22:37from there
22:38he shall come
22:39to judge
22:39the living
22:40and the dead
22:42I believe
22:43in the Holy Spirit
22:44the Holy Catholic Church
22:46the communion
22:47of saints
22:48the forgiveness
22:49of sins
22:50the resurrection

22:52and the life everlasting
22:54Amen
