00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
04:10Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
05:03Praise the Lord, O my soul.
05:05O Lord, my God, you are magnificent.
05:09You are robed in splendor and majesty.
05:12He covers himself with light, as if it were a garment.
05:17He stretches out the skies like a tent curtain, and lays the beams of the upper rooms of his palace
05:23on the rain clouds.
05:25He makes the clouds his chariot, and travels along on the wings of the wind.
05:31He makes the winds his messengers, and the flaming fire his attendant.
05:37He established the earth on its foundations.
05:40It will never be moved.
05:43The watery deep covered it like a garment.
05:49The waters reached above the mountains.
05:53Your shout made the waters retreat.
05:55At the sound of your thunderous voice, they hurried off, as the mountains rose up and the valleys went down,
06:02to the place you appointed for them.
06:05You set up a boundary for them that they could not cross, so that they would not cover the earth
06:11again.
06:13He turns springs into streams.
06:15They flow between the mountains.
06:18They provide water for all the animals in the field.
06:21The wild donkeys quench their thirst.
06:25The birds of the sky live beside them.
06:28They chirp among the bushes.
06:31He waters the mountains from the upper rooms of his palace.
06:35The earth is full of the fruit you cause to grow.
06:41He provides grass for the cattle and crops for the people to cultivate, so that they can produce food from
06:47the ground.
06:49As well as wine that makes people feel so good, and so they can have oil to make their faces
06:55shine, as well as food that sustains people's lives.
07:01The trees of the Lord receive all the rain they need.
07:04The cedars of Lebanon, which he planted, where the birds make their nests, near the evergreens in which the herons
07:12live.
07:13The wild goats live in the high mountains.
07:16The rock badgers find safety in the cliffs.
07:20He made the moon to mark the months, and the sun sets according to a regular schedule.
07:27You make it dark, and night comes, during which all the beasts of the forest prowl around.
07:34The lions roar for prey, seeking their food from God.
07:40When the sun rises, they withdraw and sleep in their dens.
07:45Men then go out to do their work, and labour away until evening.
07:51How many living things have you made, O Lord?
07:55You have exhibited great skill in making all of them.
07:58The earth is full of living things you have made.
08:03Over here is the deep, wide sea, which teems with innumerable swimming creatures, living things, both small and large.
08:12The ships travel there, and over here swims the whale you made to play in it.
08:20All of your creatures wait for you to provide them with food on a regular basis.
08:25You give food to them, and they receive it.
08:28You open your hand, and they are filled with food.
08:32When you ignore them, they panic.
08:34When you take away their life's breath, they die and return to dust.
08:39When you send your life-giving breath, they are created, and you replenish the surface of the ground.
08:47May the splendour of the Lord endure.
08:50May the Lord find pleasure in the living things He has made.
08:54He looks down on the earth, and it shakes.
08:58He touches the mountains, and they start to smouldering.
09:02I will sing to the Lord as long as I live.
09:05I will sing praise to my God as long as I exist.
09:10May my thoughts be pleasing to Him.
09:12I will rejoice in the Lord.
09:16May sinners disappear from the earth, and the wicked vanish.
09:20Praise the Lord, O my soul.
09:22Praise the Lord.
09:24Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
09:29As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
09:33World without end.
09:35Amen.
09:41The Prophet Zechariah, Chapter 6
09:46Again, I lifted up my eyes, and saw, behold, four chariots came out between two mountains.
09:54On the mountains were mountains of brass.
09:58In the first chariots were red horses, and in the second, black horses.
10:04In the third, white horses, and the fourth, dappled horses.
10:08All of them powerful.
10:11I asked the angel who talked with me, what are these, my lord?
10:16The angel answered me, these are the four winds of the sky, which go out from standing before the lord
10:23of all the earth.
10:25The one with the black horses goes out toward the north country.
10:29And the white went out after them, and the dappled went out toward the south country.
10:36The strong went out, and sought to go, that they might walk back and forth throughout the earth.
10:43And he said, go around and through the earth.
10:46And so they walked back and forth through the earth.
10:52Then he called to me, and spoke, saying,
10:55Behold, those who go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country.
11:03Yahweh's word came to me, saying,
11:05Take them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah and Jediah,
11:10And come the same day, and go to the house of Josiah, the son of Zephaniah,
11:16Where they have come from Babylon.
11:19Yes, take silver and gold, and make crows,
11:23And set them on the head of Joshua, the son of Jehoshadak, the high priest.
11:29And speak to him, saying,
11:31Yahweh of Amis says,
11:34The man whose name is the branch,
11:36And he shall grow up out of his place,
11:39And he shall build Yahweh's temple.
11:42Even he shall build Yahweh's temple,
11:45And he shall bear the glory,
11:47And sit and rule on his throne.
11:49And he shall be a priest on his throne.
11:52And the council of peace shall be between them both.
11:57The crowns shall be to Hillem, and to Bijah, and to Jediah,
12:02And to Hen, the son of Zephaniah,
12:05For a memorial in Yahweh's temple.
12:09Those who are far off shall come and build in Yahweh's temple.
12:13And you will know that Yahweh of Amis has sent you.
12:17This will happen if you diligently obey Yahweh your God's voice.
12:24This is the word of the Lord.
12:28Thanks be to God.
12:54For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
12:58Because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
13:03And holy is his name.
13:05From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
13:12He has demonstrated power with his arm.
13:15He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
13:21He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
13:24And has lifted up those of lowly position.
13:28He has filled the hungry with good things,
13:31And has sent the rich away empty.
13:34He has helped his servant Israel,
13:37Remembering his mercy,
13:39As he promised to our ancestors,
13:42To Abraham,
13:43And to his descendants forever.
13:47Glory be to the Father,
13:49And to the Son,
13:50And to the Holy Spirit,
13:51As it was in the beginning,
13:54Is now and ever shall be,
13:57World without end.
13:59Amen.
14:06The Gospel according to St. Luke,
14:08Chapters 14 and 15
14:13Now large crowds accompanied Jesus,
14:16And turning to them he said,
14:18If anyone comes to me,
14:20And does not hate his own father and mother,
14:23Wife and children,
14:24Brothers and sisters,
14:25Even his own life,
14:27He cannot be my disciple.
14:31Whoever does not carry his own cross,
14:33And follow me,
14:34Cannot be my disciple.
14:37For which of you wanting to build a tower,
14:39Does not first sit down,
14:42And calculate the cost,
14:43To see if he has enough money to complete it.
14:48Otherwise,
14:49When he has laid the foundations,
14:51But is not able to finish the tower,
14:53All who see it will begin to make fun of him.
14:57They will say,
14:58The man began to build,
15:00But was not able to finish.
15:03Which king,
15:04Going out to confront another king in battle,
15:06Will not sit down first,
15:08And decide whether or not he is able,
15:10With 10,000,
15:11To oppose the one coming against him,
15:14With 20,000.
15:17If he does not believe he will succeed,
15:20He will send a representative,
15:22While the other is still a long way off,
15:24And ask for peace.
15:27In the same way,
15:28Therefore,
15:29Not one of you can be my disciple,
15:31If he does not renounce his own possessions.
15:37Now all the tax collectors and sinners,
15:39Were coming to hear him,
15:41But the Pharisees,
15:42And the experts in the law complained,
15:44Saying,
15:45This man welcomes sinners,
15:47And eats with them.
15:49So Jesus told them this parable,
15:54Which of you,
15:55If he has 100 sheep,
15:57And loses one of them,
15:58Would not leave the 99 sheep,
16:00In the open pasture,
16:02And go and look for the one that is lost,
16:04Until he finds it.
16:06And when he has found it,
16:08He places it on his shoulders,
16:10Rejoicing.
16:12Returning home,
16:13He calls together his friends and neighbours,
16:16Saying,
16:17Rejoice with me,
16:18For I have found the sheep that was lost.
16:21I tell you,
16:22In the same way,
16:23There will be more joy in heaven,
16:24Over one sinner,
16:25Who repents,
16:26Than over the 99 righteous people,
16:29Who have no need to repent.
16:33Or what woman,
16:34If she were to have 10 silver coins,
16:37And loses one of them,
16:39Will not light a lamp,
16:40And sweep the house,
16:42Searching thoroughly,
16:43Until she finds it.
16:45Then when she has found it,
16:47She calls together,
16:49Her friends and neighbours,
16:50Saying,
16:51Rejoice with me,
16:52For I have found the coin,
16:54That I have lost.
16:56In the same way,
16:57I tell you,
16:58There is joy in the presence of God's angels,
17:01Over one sinner,
17:03Who repents.
17:05This is the word of the Lord.
17:07Thanks be to God.
17:19Now according to your word,
17:21Sovereign Lord,
17:23Permit your servant to depart in peace,
17:25For my eyes have seen your salvation,
17:29That you have prepared,
17:30In the presence of all peoples,
17:33A light for revelation to the Gentiles,
17:36And for glory to your people Israel.
17:41Glory be to the Father,
17:43And to the Son,
17:44And to the Holy Spirit,
17:46As it was in the beginning,
17:48Is now,
17:48And ever shall be,
17:50World without end.
17:52Amen.
17:57I believe in God the Father Almighty,
18:01Maker of heaven and earth,
18:03And in Jesus Christ,
18:04His only Son,
18:05Our Lord,
18:06Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
18:10Born of the Virgin Mary,
18:12Suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
18:15Was crucified,
18:17Dead,
18:17And buried,
18:18He descended into hell,
18:20On the third day,
18:22He rose again from the dead,
18:24He ascended into heaven,
18:26And is sitting at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
18:31From there He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
18:36I believe in the Holy Spirit,
18:38The Holy Catholic Church,
18:40The communion of saints,
18:42The forgiveness of sins,
18:44The resurrection of the body,
18:46And the life everlasting.
18:49Amen.
18:54The Lord be with you,
18:57And with your spirit.
19:01Let us pray.
19:05Lord, have mercy upon us.
19:08Christ, have mercy upon us.
19:13Lord, have mercy upon us.
19:19Our Father,
19:21Who is in heaven,
19:23Holy is your name.
19:25May your kingdom come.
19:28May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
19:32Give us this day our daily bread.
19:35Forgive us our trespasses,
19:37As we forgive those who trespass against us.
19:41Lead us not into temptation,
19:44Lead us not into temptation,
19:44But deliver us from evil.
19:47For yours is the kingdom,
19:49The power and the glory,
19:52For ever and ever.
19:54Amen.
19:59O Lord, show your mercy upon us,
20:02And grant us your salvation.
20:08Protect and guide those in authority over us,
20:13And mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
20:18Endure your ministers with righteousness,
20:21And make your chosen people joyful.
20:27O Lord, save your people,
20:31And bless your inheritance.
20:35Give peace in our time, O Lord,
20:39Because there is none other who fights for us,
20:42But only you, O God.
20:45O God, make clean our hearts within us,
20:50And take not your Holy Spirit from us.
21:01Let us pray.
21:04O almighty and most merciful God,
21:07Of your bountiful goodness keep us,
21:10We beseech you,
21:11From all things that may hurt us,
21:14That we, being ready both in body and soul,
21:18May cheerfully accomplish the things that you would have us do.
21:22Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
21:26Amen.
21:35O God,
21:36From whom all holy desires,
21:39All good counsels,
21:40And all just works proceed,
21:43Give to your servants that peace,
21:45Which the world cannot give,
21:48That our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
21:52And also that, by you,
21:55We, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
21:59May pass our time in rest and quietness,
22:02Through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
22:06Amen.
22:12Lighten our darkness, we beseech you, O Lord,
22:15And by your great mercy defend us all,
22:18From perils and dangers of this night.
22:22For the love of your only Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
22:26Amen.
22:30Almighty God,
22:32Who has given us grace at this time with one accord,
22:35To make our common supplications to you,
22:39And promises that when two or three are gathered together in your name,
22:43You will grant their requests.
22:47Fulfill now, O Lord,
22:49The desires and petitions of your servants,
22:53As may be most beneficial for them,
22:56Granting us in this world,
22:58Knowledge of your truth,
23:00And in the world to come,
23:02Life everlasting.
23:05Amen.
23:08May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
23:10And the love of God,
23:12And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
23:14Be with us all,
23:16Evermore.
23:17Amen.
