00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:50Give us this day our daily bread.
03:53Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
04:10Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:59Praise awaits you, O God, in Zion.
05:03Vows made to you are fulfilled.
05:06You hear prayers.
05:08All people approach you.
05:11Our record of sins overwhelms me, but you forgive our acts of rebellion.
05:17How blessed is the one whom you choose and allow to live in your palace courts.
05:23May we be satisfied with the good things of your house, your holy palace.
05:30You answer our prayers by performing awesome acts of deliverance, O God, our Saviour.
05:37All the ends of the earth trust in you, as well as those living across the wide seas.
05:45You created the mountains by your power, and demonstrated your great strength.
05:51You calm the raging seas and the roaring waves, as well as the commotion made by the nations.
05:59Even those living in the most remote areas are awestruck by your acts.
06:05You cause those living in the east and west to praise you.
06:11You visit the earth and give it rain.
06:13You make it rich and fertile.
06:17God's streams are full of water.
06:19You provide grain for them, for you have prepared the earth in this way.
06:25You saturate its furrows and soak its ploughed ground.
06:30With rain showers, you soften its soil and make its crops grow.
06:36You crown the year with your good blessings, and you leave abundance in your wake.
06:43The pastures in the wilderness glisten with moisture, and the hills are clothed with joy.
06:50The meadows are clothed with sheep, and the valleys are covered with grain.
06:56They shout joyfully, yes, they sing.
07:00Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
07:05As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
07:08World without end.
07:11Amen.
07:14Psalm 66
07:17Shout out praise to God all the earth.
07:20Sing praises about the majesty of his reputation.
07:24Give him the honour he deserves.
07:27Say to God, how awesome are your deeds.
07:31Because of your great power, your enemies cower in fear before you.
07:37All the earth worships you and sings praises to you.
07:41They sing praises to your name.
07:45Come and witness God's exploits.
07:47His acts on behalf of people are awesome.
07:51He turned the sea into dry land, and they passed through the river on foot.
07:56Let us rejoice in him there.
08:00He rules by his power forever.
08:04He watches the nations.
08:07Stubborn rebels should not exalt themselves.
08:12Praise our God, you nations.
08:14Loudly proclaim his praise.
08:18He preserves our lives, and does not allow our feet to slip.
08:24For you, O God, tested us.
08:26You purified us like refined silver.
08:30You led us into a trap.
08:32You caused us to suffer.
08:35You allowed men to ride over our heads,
08:39and we passed through fire and water.
08:42But you brought us out into a wide open place.
08:46I will enter your temple with burnt sacrifices.
08:50I will fulfill the vows I made to you,
08:53which my lips uttered and my mouth spoke while I was in trouble.
08:59I will offer up to you fattened animals as burnt sacrifices,
09:03along with the smell of sacrificial rams.
09:07I will offer cattle and goats.
09:10Come, listen, all you who are loyal to God.
09:14I will declare what he has done for me.
09:18I cried out to him for help and praised him with my tongue.
09:22If I had harbored sin in my heart,
09:25the Lord would not have listened.
09:29However God heard, he listened to my prayer.
09:34God deserves praise, for he did not reject my prayer
09:38or abandon his love for me.
09:42Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
09:47as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be.
09:51World without end.
09:53Amen.
09:58Psalm 67
10:02May God show us his favour and bless us.
10:05May he smile upon us.
10:08Then those living on earth will know what you are like.
10:12All nations will know how you deliver your people.
10:16Let the nations thank you, O God.
10:19Let all the nations thank you.
10:21Let foreigners rejoice and celebrate,
10:24for you execute justice among the nations
10:27and govern the people living on earth.
10:31Let the nations thank you, O God.
10:33Let all the nations thank you.
10:36The earth yields its crops.
10:39May God, our God, bless us.
10:41May God bless us.
10:42Then all the ends of the earth
10:44will give him the honour he deserves.
10:49Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
10:53as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be.
10:57World without end.
10:59Amen.
11:05The prophet Habakkuk chapter 2
11:10I will stand my watch and set myself on the ramparts.
11:15I will look out to see what he will say to me
11:18and what I will answer concerning my complaint.
11:24Yahweh answered me.
11:26Write the vision, make it plain on tablets,
11:29that he who runs may read it.
11:33For the vision is yet for the appointed time,
11:36and it hurries toward the end and won't prove false.
11:42Though it takes time, wait for it,
11:44because it will surely come.
11:47It will not delay.
11:50Behold, his soul is puffed up.
11:52It is not upright in him,
11:55but the righteous will live by his faith.
11:59Yes, moreover, wine is treacherous.
12:01An arrogant man who doesn't stay at home,
12:05who enlarges his desire as shale,
12:08and he is like death and cannot be satisfied,
12:12gathering to himself all nations,
12:14heaping to himself all peoples.
12:19Won't all these take up a parable against him,
12:22and a taunting proverb against him, saying,
12:26Woe to him who increases that which is not his,
12:29and who enriches himself by extortion.
12:33How long?
12:35Won't your debtors rise up suddenly,
12:38and wake up those who make you tremble,
12:41and will you be their victim?
12:44Because you have plundered many nations,
12:47all the remnants of the peoples will plunder you,
12:50because of men's blood,
12:52and for the violence done to the land,
12:54for the city,
12:55and to all who dwell in it.
12:58Woe to him who gets an evil gain for his house,
13:02that he may set his nest on high,
13:04that he may be delivered from the hand of evil.
13:09You have devised shame to your house by cutting off many peoples,
13:15and have sinned against your soul.
13:17For the stone will cry out of the wall,
13:20and the beam out of the woodwork will answer it.
13:24Woe to him who builds a town with blood,
13:28establishing a city by iniquity.
13:31Look,
13:32is it not of Yahweh of armies that the peoples labour for the fire,
13:37and the nations weary themselves for vanity?
13:41For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of Yahweh's glory,
13:46as the waters cover the sea.
13:49Woe to him who gives his neighbour drink,
13:52pouring your inflaming wine until they are drunk,
13:56so that you may gaze at their naked bodies.
14:00You are filled with shame and not glory.
14:03You also will drink and be exposed.
14:07The cup of Yahweh's right hand will come around to you,
14:11and disgrace will cover your glory.
14:14For the violence done to Lebanon will overwhelm you,
14:18and the destruction of the animals which made them afraid.
14:22Because of men's blood,
14:24and for the violence done to the land,
14:26to every city and to those who dwell in them.
14:31What value does the engraved image have,
14:34that its maker has engraved it?
14:36The molten image,
14:38even the teacher of lies,
14:40that he who fashions its form,
14:42trusts in it,
14:44to make mute idols.
14:47Woe to him who says to the wood,
14:50Wake up,
14:50or to the mute stone,
14:52Arise!
14:54Shall these teach you?
14:56Behold!
14:59They are overlaid with gold and silver,
15:01and there is no breath in them at all.
15:05But Yahweh is in his holy temple.
15:09Let the earth be silent before him.
15:13This is the word of the Lord.
15:17Thanks be to God.
15:29Mary said,
15:31My soul exalts the Lord,
15:34and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
15:38because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
15:44For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
15:48because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
15:52and holy is his name.
15:55From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
16:01He has demonstrated power with his arm.
16:04He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
16:11He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
16:14and has lifted up those of lowly position.
16:17He has filled the hungry with good things,
16:20and has sent the rich away empty.
16:24He has helped his servant Israel,
16:26remembering his mercy as he promised to our ancestors,
16:31to Abraham, and to his descendants for ever.
16:36Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
16:41as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
16:46world without end.
16:48Amen.
16:53The Gospel according to St. Luke, chapter 10.
16:59An expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus, saying to him,
17:05Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?
17:10Jesus replied,
17:12What is written in the law?
17:14How do you understand it?
17:17The expert answered,
17:20Love the Lord your God with all your heart.
17:23With all your soul,
17:24and with all your strength.
17:25With all your mind.
17:27And love your neighbour as yourself.
17:32Jesus said to him,
17:34You have answered correctly.
17:36Do this, and you shall live.
17:40But the expert,
17:42wanting to justify himself,
17:44said to Jesus,
17:46But who is my neighbour?
17:50Jesus replied,
17:53There was a man going down from Jerusalem to Jericho,
17:57And he fell into the hands of robbers,
18:00who stripped him,
18:01beat him up,
18:02and left him,
18:03half dead at the side of the road.
18:06Now by chance,
18:08it happened a priest was going down that road.
18:10But when he saw the injured man,
18:12he passed by on the other side.
18:15So too a Levite,
18:17when he came up to the place and saw him,
18:20passed by on the other side.
18:25But a certain Samaritan,
18:26who was travelling,
18:28came to where the injured man was,
18:30and when he saw him,
18:32he felt compassion for him.
18:35He went up to him,
18:37bandaged his wounds,
18:39and poured oil and wine on them.
18:42Then he put him on his own animal,
18:45and took him to an inn,
18:47that he might take care of him.
18:50The next day,
18:51he took out silver coins,
18:53and gave them to the innkeeper,
18:55saying,
18:56Take care of him,
18:57and whatever else you spend,
18:59I will repay you,
19:00when I come back this way.
19:03Which of these three,
19:05do you think,
19:06became a neighbour to the man,
19:08who fell into the hands of the robber?
19:11The expert in the religious law said,
19:14The one who showed mercy to him.
19:17So Jesus said,
19:19Go and do the same.
19:24Now, as they went on their way,
19:26Jesus entered into a certain village,
19:28where there was a woman named Martha,
19:30who welcomed him as a guest.
19:33She had a sister called Mary,
19:35who sat at the Lord's feet,
19:37and listened to what he said.
19:41Martha, on the other hand,
19:42was distracted,
19:43with all the preparations,
19:44that she had to make.
19:46And so she came up to him,
19:48and said,
19:50Lord,
19:50don't you care,
19:51that my sister has left me,
19:52to do all the work on my own?
19:55Tell her to come and help me.
19:58The Lord answered her,
20:02Martha, Martha,
20:03you are worried and troubled about many things.
20:08But one thing only is needed.
20:12Mary has chosen the better part,
20:14and it will not be taken away from her.
20:18This is the word of the Lord.
20:22Thanks be to God.
20:33Now, according to your word,
20:35Sovereign Lord,
20:36permit your servant to depart in peace.
20:39For my eyes have seen your salvation,
20:42that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
20:47a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
20:50and for glory to your people Israel.
20:55Glory be to the Father,
20:57and to the Son,
20:58and to the Holy Spirit,
20:59as it was in the beginning,
21:01is now,
21:02and ever shall be,
21:04world without end.
21:06Amen.
21:10I believe in God the Father Almighty,
21:15Maker of heaven and earth,
21:16and in Jesus Christ,
21:18his only Son,
21:18our Lord,
21:20who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
21:23born of the Virgin Mary,
21:25suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
21:29was crucified,
21:30dead,
21:31and buried.
21:32He descended into hell.
21:34On the third day,
21:35he rose again from the dead.
21:38He ascended into heaven,
21:40and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
21:45From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
21:49I believe in the Holy Spirit,
21:52the Holy Catholic Church,
21:54the communion of saints,
21:55the forgiveness of sins,
21:57the resurrection of the body,
22:00and the life everlasting.
22:03Amen.
22:08The Lord be with you,
22:11and with your spirit.
22:15Let us pray.
22:18Lord, have mercy upon us.
22:22Christ, have mercy upon us.
22:26Lord, have mercy upon us.
22:33Our Father,
22:34who is in heaven,
22:36holy is your name.
22:39May your kingdom come.
22:41May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
22:46Give us this day our daily bread.
22:48Give us this day our daily bread.
22:48Forgive us our trespasses,
22:51as we forgive those who trespass against us.
22:55Lead us not into temptation,
22:57but deliver us from evil.
23:00For yours is the kingdom,
23:03the power and the glory,
23:05for ever and ever.
23:07For ever and ever.
23:08Amen.
23:13O Lord, show your mercy upon us,
23:16and grant us your salvation.
23:21protect and guide those in authority over us,
23:26and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
23:32Endure your ministers with righteousness,
23:35and make your chosen people joyful.
23:41O Lord, save your people,
23:44and bless your inheritance.
23:49Give peace in our time, O Lord,
23:52because there is none other who fights for us,
23:55but only you, O God.
23:59O God, make clean our hearts within us,
24:04and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
24:15Let us pray.
24:18O God, for as much as without you,
24:21we are not able to please you.
24:24Mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit
24:27may in all things direct and rule our hearts.
24:31Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
24:34Amen.
24:43O God, from whom all holy desires,
24:48all good counsels, and all just works proceed,
24:52give to your servants that peace
24:54which the world cannot give,
24:56that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
25:00and also that, by you,
25:03we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
25:07may pass our time in rest and quietness.
25:11Through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
25:15Amen.
25:20Lighten our darkness, we beseech you, O Lord,
25:23and by your great mercy defend us all
25:26from perils and dangers of this night.
25:30For the love of your only Son,
25:32our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
25:35Amen.
25:39Almighty God, who has given us grace
25:42at this time with one accord
25:44to make our common supplications to you
25:47and promises that when two or three
25:50are gathered together in your name,
25:52you will grant their requests.
25:56Fulfill now, O Lord,
25:58the desires and petitions of your servants,
26:01as may be most beneficial for them,
26:05granting us in this world
26:07knowledge of your truth
26:08and in the world to come
26:11life everlasting.
26:13Amen.
26:16May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
26:19and the love of God
26:20and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
26:22be with us all evermore.
26:26Amen.
