00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:56Psalm 114
04:59When Israel left Egypt, when the family of Jacob left a foreign nation behind,
05:06Judah became his sanctuary, Israel his kingdom.
05:10The sea looked and fled.
05:13The Jordan River turned back.
05:15The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.
05:21Why do you flee, O sea?
05:24Why do you turn back, O Jordan River?
05:27Why do you skip like rams, O mountains, like lambs, O hills?
05:35Tremble, O earth, before the Lord, before the God of Jacob,
05:39who turned a rock into a pool of water,
05:42a hard rock into springs of water.
05:46Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
05:50as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
05:54world without end.
05:56Amen.
06:00Psalm 115
06:03Not to us, O Lord, not to us,
06:06but in your name bring honour,
06:08for the sake of your loyal love and faithfulness.
06:12Why should the nations say, where is their God?
06:17Our God is in heaven.
06:19He does whatever he pleases.
06:22Their idols are made of silver and gold.
06:26They are man-made.
06:27They have mouths, but cannot speak.
06:31Eyes, but cannot see.
06:33Ears, but cannot hear.
06:36Noses, but cannot smell.
06:39Hands, but cannot touch feet,
06:41but cannot walk.
06:42They cannot even clear their throats.
06:46Those who make them will end up like them,
06:49as will everyone who trusts in them.
06:52O Israel, trust in the Lord.
06:54He is their deliverer and protector.
06:58O family of Aaron, trust in the Lord.
07:01He is their deliverer and protector.
07:05You loyal followers of the Lord,
07:07trust in the Lord.
07:09He is their deliverer and protector.
07:13The Lord takes notice of us.
07:16He will bless.
07:17He will bless the family of Israel.
07:20He will bless the family of Aaron.
07:23He will bless his loyal followers,
07:25both young and old.
07:28May he increase your numbers,
07:31yours and your children's.
07:34May you be blessed by the Lord,
07:36the creator of heaven and earth.
07:39The heavens belong to the Lord,
07:42but the earth he has given to mankind.
07:46The dead do not praise the Lord,
07:48nor do any of those who descend
07:51into the silence of death.
07:54But we shall praise the Lord now and for evermore.
07:58Praise the Lord.
08:00Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
08:04as it was in the beginning,
08:06is now and ever shall be,
08:09world without end.
08:10Amen.
08:18The prophet Zechariah chapter 11.
08:22Open your doors,
08:24that the fire may devour your cedars.
08:28Wail cypress tree,
08:30for the cedar has fallen,
08:32because the stately ones are destroyed.
08:35Wail, you oaks of Basham,
08:38for the strong forest has come down.
08:41A voice of wailing of the shepherds,
08:43for their glory is destroyed.
08:46A voice of the roaring of young lions.
08:50For the pride of Jordan is ruined.
08:54Yahweh, my God, says,
08:57feed the flock of slaughter.
08:59Their buyers slaughter them and go unpunished.
09:03Those who sell them say,
09:05blessed be Yahweh, for I am rich,
09:08and their own shepherds don't pity them.
09:11But I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land,
09:15said Yahweh.
09:17But behold,
09:19I will deliver the men, everyone,
09:21into his neighbour's land,
09:24and into the land of his king.
09:26They will strike the land,
09:28and out of their land I will not deliver them.
09:31And so I fed the flock of slaughter,
09:34especially the oppressed of the flock.
09:38I took for myself two staffs,
09:41the one I called favour,
09:42and the other I called union.
09:45And I fed the flock.
09:47I cut off the three shepherds in one month,
09:50for my soul was weary of them,
09:52and their soul also loathed me.
09:56Then I said,
09:58I will not feed you.
09:59That which died,
10:01let it die,
10:02and that which is to be cut off,
10:04let it cut off.
10:06And let those who are left
10:08eat each other's flesh.
10:12I took my staff of favour,
10:14and cut it apart,
10:16that I might break my covenant
10:18that I had made with all these people.
10:20And it was broken in that day.
10:23Thus the poor of the flock that listened to me
10:26knew that it was Yahweh's word.
10:29I said to them,
10:30if you think it best,
10:31give me my wages,
10:33and if not,
10:34keep them.
10:35So they weighed for my wages
10:37thirty pieces of silver.
10:39Yahweh said to me,
10:41throw it to the potter,
10:43the handsome price
10:44that I was valued at by them.
10:48And I took the thirty pieces of silver,
10:50and threw them to the potter
10:52in Yahweh's house.
10:55Then I cut apart my other staff,
10:58even Union,
10:59that I might break the brotherhood
11:01between Judah and Israel.
11:04Yahweh said to me,
11:06take for yourself yet again
11:08the equipment of a foolish shepherd.
11:11For behold,
11:12I will raise up a shepherd in the land,
11:14who will not visit those
11:16who are cut off.
11:17Neither will he seek those
11:19who are scattered,
11:20nor heal that which is broken,
11:24nor feed that which is served.
11:27But he will eat the meat of the thatchy,
11:30and will tear their hooves in pieces.
11:33Woe to the worthless shepherd
11:36who leaves the flock.
11:38The sword will be on his arm
11:40and in his right eye.
11:42His arm will be completely withered,
11:44and his right eye will be totally blinded.
11:48This is the word of the Lord.
11:51Thanks be to God.
12:04Mary said,
12:05My soul exalts the Lord,
12:08and my spirit has begun to rejoice
12:10in God my Saviour,
12:12because he has looked
12:14upon the humble state of his servant.
12:18For from now on,
12:20all generations will call me blessed,
12:23because he who is mighty
12:24has done great things for me,
12:26and holy is his name.
12:29From generation to generation,
12:32he is merciful to those who fear him.
12:35He has demonstrated power with his arm.
12:39He has scattered those whose pride
12:41wells up from the sheer arrogance
12:43of their hearts.
12:45He has brought down the mighty
12:47from their thrones,
12:48and has lifted up those
12:50of lowly position.
12:52He has filled the hungry
12:53with good things,
12:55and has sent the rich away empty.
12:58He has helped his servant Israel,
13:01remembering his mercy,
13:03as he promised to our ancestors,
13:06to Abraham,
13:07and to his descendants for ever.
13:11Glory be to the Father,
13:13and to the Son,
13:13and to the Holy Spirit,
13:15as it was in the beginning,
13:17is now,
13:19and ever shall be,
13:20world without end.
13:22Amen.
13:29The Gospel according to Saint Luke,
13:32chapter 17.
13:35Jesus said to his disciples,
13:37Stumbling blocks are sure to come,
13:40but woe to the one
13:41through whom they come.
13:44It would be better for him
13:46to have a millstone
13:47tied around his neck,
13:49and to be thrown into the sea,
13:51than for him to cause
13:53one of these little ones to sin.
13:56Watch yourselves.
13:58If your brother sins,
14:00rebuke him.
14:00If he repents,
14:03forgive him.
14:04Even if he sins against you
14:06seven times in a day,
14:08and seven times return to you,
14:11saying,
14:11I repent,
14:12you must forgive him.
14:16The apostles said to the Lord,
14:19Increase our faith.
14:21So the Lord replied,
14:23If you had faith
14:24the size of a mustard seed,
14:26you would say to this
14:28black mulberry tree,
14:30be pulled out by the roots
14:31and planted in the sea,
14:33and it would obey you.
14:36Would anyone of you say
14:37to your slave
14:38who comes in from the field
14:40after ploughing
14:40or shepherding sheep,
14:43Come at once
14:44and sit down for a meal?
14:47Will not the master
14:48instead say to him,
14:51Get my dinner ready,
14:53and make yourself ready
14:54to serve me
14:55while I eat and drink?
14:57Then you may eat and drink.
15:02He won't thank the slave
15:03because he did what he was told,
15:05will he?
15:07So you too,
15:09when you have done
15:09everything you were
15:10commanded to do,
15:11should say,
15:12We are slaves
15:13undeserving of special praise.
15:16We have done only
15:17what was our duty.
15:22Now on the way to Jerusalem,
15:24Jesus passed along
15:25between Samaria
15:27and Galilee.
15:29As he was entering
15:30a village,
15:31ten men with leprosy
15:33met him.
15:35They stood at a distance,
15:36raising their voices
15:38and saying,
15:39Jesus, Master,
15:40have mercy on us.
15:43When he saw them,
15:44he said,
15:45Go,
15:47show yourselves
15:48to the priests.
15:49And as they went along,
15:51they were cleansed.
15:53Then one of them,
15:55when he saw
15:55he was healed,
15:56turned back,
15:58praising God
15:59with a loud voice.
16:01He fell with his face
16:02to the ground
16:03at Jesus' feet
16:04and thanked him.
16:06This man was a Samaritan.
16:11Jesus asked him,
16:13Were not ten men cleansed?
16:15Where are the other nine?
16:18Was no one found
16:19to turn back
16:20and give praise to God
16:21except this foreigner?
16:24Then he said to the man,
16:26Get up and go your way.
16:28Your faith
16:29has made you well.
16:31This is the word of the Lord.
16:34Thanks be to God.
16:45Now, according to your word,
16:47Sovereign Lord,
16:48permit your servant
16:50to depart in peace.
16:52For my eyes
16:53have seen your salvation
16:54that you have prepared
16:56in the presence
16:57of all peoples,
16:59a light for revelation
17:01to the Gentiles
17:02and for glory
17:04and for glory
17:04to your people Israel.
17:07Glory be to the Father
17:09and to the Son
17:10and to the Holy Spirit
17:11as it was
17:13in the beginning,
17:13is now
17:14and ever shall be,
17:16world without end.
17:18Amen.
17:23I believe in God
17:25the Father Almighty,
17:26maker of heaven and earth,
17:28and in Jesus Christ,
17:30his only Son,
17:31our Lord,
17:32who was conceived
17:34by the Holy Spirit,
17:35born of the Virgin Mary,
17:37suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
17:41was crucified,
17:42dead,
17:43and buried.
17:44He descended into hell.
17:46On the third day
17:48he rose again
17:48from the dead.
17:50He ascended into heaven
17:52and is sitting
17:53at the right hand
17:54of God the Father Almighty.
17:57From there he shall come
17:58to judge the living
17:59and the dead.
18:02I believe in the Holy Spirit,
18:04the Holy Catholic Church,
18:06the communion of saints,
18:08the forgiveness of sins,
18:10the resurrection of the body,
18:12and the life everlasting.
18:15Amen.
18:20The Lord be with you
18:23and with your spirit.
18:27Let us pray.
18:31Lord, have mercy upon us.
18:34Christ, have mercy upon us.
18:39Lord, have mercy upon us.
18:45Our Father,
18:46who is in heaven,
18:49holy is your name.
18:51May your kingdom come.
18:53May your will be done
18:55on earth as it is in heaven.
18:58Give us this day
19:00our daily bread.
19:01Forgive us our trespasses,
19:03as we forgive those
19:04who trespass against us.
19:07Lead us not into temptation,
19:10but deliver us from evil.
19:13For yours is the kingdom,
19:15the power and the glory,
19:18for ever and ever.
19:20Amen.
19:25O Lord, show your mercy upon us
19:28and grant us your salvation.
19:34protect and guide those in authority
19:37over us.
19:39And mercifully hear us
19:41when we call upon you.
19:45Endue your ministers with righteousness
19:48and make your chosen people joyful.
19:53O Lord, save your people
19:57and bless your inheritance.
20:01Give peace in our time, O Lord,
20:05because there is none other
20:06who fights for us
20:08but only you, O God.
20:11O God, make clean our hearts within us
20:16and take not your Holy Spirit
20:18from us.
20:27Let us pray.
20:30O almighty and most merciful God,
20:33of your bountiful goodness
20:35keep us, we beseech you,
20:37from all things that may hurt us,
20:40that we, being ready both in body and soul,
20:44may cheerfully accomplish
20:46the things that you would have us do.
20:49Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
20:52Amen.
21:01O God, from whom all holy desires,
21:05all good counsels,
21:06and all just works proceed,
21:09give to your servants that peace
21:11which the world cannot give,
21:14that our hearts may be set
21:16to obey your commandments,
21:18and also that, by you,
21:21we, being defended from the fear
21:23of our enemies,
21:25may pass our time in rest and quietness.
21:28Through the merits of Jesus Christ,
21:31our Saviour.
21:33Amen.
21:38Lighten our darkness,
21:39we beseech you, O Lord,
21:41and by your great mercy defend us all
21:44from perils and dangers of this night.
21:48For the love of your only Son,
21:50our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
21:53Amen.
21:56Almighty God,
21:58who has given us grace
21:59at this time with one accord
22:01to make our common supplications to you,
22:05and promises that when two or three
22:07are gathered together in your name,
22:09you will grant their requests.
22:13Fulfill now, O Lord,
22:15the desires and petitions of your servants,
22:18as may be most beneficial for them,
22:23granting us in this world
22:24knowledge of your truth,
22:27and in the world to come,
22:28life everlasting.
22:31Amen.
22:34With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
22:36and the love of God,
22:38and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
22:40be with us all evermore.
22:43Amen.
