00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:50Give us this day our daily bread.
03:53Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
04:10Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:56Psalm 82
04:59God stands in the assembly of El.
05:03In the midst of the gods, he renders judgment.
05:06He says,
05:07How long will you make unjust legal decisions, and show favoritism to the wicked?
05:14Defend the cause of the poor and the fatherless.
05:17Vindicate the oppressed and suffering.
05:20Rescue the poor and needy.
05:22Deliver them from the power of the wicked.
05:25They neither know nor understand.
05:27They stumble around in the dark, while all the foundations of the earth crumble.
05:34I thought, you are gods, all of you are sons of the Most High.
05:39Yet, you will die like mortals.
05:41You will fall like all other rulers.
05:45Rise up, O God, and execute judgment on the earth.
05:49For you own all the nations.
05:53Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
05:57As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
06:03Amen.
06:07Psalm 83
06:11O God, do not be silent.
06:13Do not ignore us.
06:15Do not be inactive, O God.
06:17For look, your enemies are making a commotion.
06:21Those who hate you are hostile.
06:24They carefully plot against your people, and make plans to harm the ones you cherish.
06:30They say, come on, let's annihilate them, so they are no longer a nation.
06:36Then the name of Israel will be remembered no more.
06:40Yes, they devise a unified strategy.
06:44They form an alliance against you.
06:47It includes the tents of Edom, and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites.
06:54Jebal, Ammon, and Amalek.
06:56Philistere, and the inhabitants of Tyre.
07:00Even Assyria has allied with them, lending its strength to the descendants of Lot.
07:07Do to them, as you did to Midian, as you did to Caesara and Jebin at the Kishon River.
07:14They were destroyed at Endor.
07:16Their corpses were like manure on the ground.
07:21Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeb, and all their rulers like Zeber and Zalmunna, who said,
07:27Let us take over the pastures of God.
07:31O my God, make them like dead thistles, like dead weeds blown away by the wind.
07:39Like the fire that burns down the forest, or the flames that consume the mountainsides.
07:44Chase them with your gale winds, and terrify them with your windstorm.
07:49Cover their faces with shame, that they might seek you, O Lord.
07:55May they be humiliated and continually terrified.
07:59May they die in shame.
08:02Then they will know that you alone are the Lord, the Most High over all the earth.
08:09Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
08:13as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
08:19Amen.
08:24Psalm 84
08:28How lovely is the place where you live, O Lord of heaven's armies!
08:33I desperately want to be in the courts of the Lord's temple.
08:37My heart and my entire being shout for joy to the living God.
08:43Even the birds find a home there, and the swallows build a nest,
08:47where she can protect her young near your altars.
08:51O Lord of heaven's armies, my King and my God!
08:56How blessed are those who live in your temple, and praise you continually!
09:02How blessed are those who find their strength in you,
09:05and long to travel the roads that lead to your temple!
09:11As they pass through the Bacar Valley, he provides a spring for them.
09:16The rain even covers it with pools of water.
09:20They are sustained as they travel along.
09:23Each one appears before God in Zion.
09:27O Lord God of heaven's armies, hear my prayer.
09:31Listen, O God of Jacob.
09:33O God, take notice of our shield.
09:36Show concern for your chosen King.
09:40Certainly, spending just one day in your temple courts
09:44is better than spending a thousand elsewhere.
09:48I would rather stand at the entrance to the temple of my God
09:52than live in the tents of the wicked.
09:55For the Lord God is our sovereign protector.
09:58The Lord bestows favor and honor.
10:01He withholds no good thing from those who have integrity.
10:07O Lord of heaven's armies, how blessed are those who trust in you!
10:13Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
10:17as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
10:21world without end.
10:23Amen.
10:29The prophet Haggai chapter 2
10:34In the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month,
10:36in the second year of Darius,
10:39Yahweh's word came by Haggai the prophet, saying,
10:42Yahweh, God of armies, says,
10:45Ask now the priests concerning the law,
10:48saying,
10:48If someone carries holy meat in the fold of his garment,
10:53and with his fold touch his bread, stew, wine, oil, or any food,
10:58will it become holy?
11:01The priest answered,
11:02No.
11:04Then Haggai said,
11:05If the one who is unclean by reason of a dead body
11:08touches any one of these,
11:10will it be unclean?
11:12The priest answered,
11:14It will be unclean.
11:17Then Haggai answered, saying,
11:20So is this people,
11:21and so is this nation before me,
11:22said Yahweh,
11:24and so is every work of their hands.
11:26That which they offer there is unclean.
11:30Now please consider from this day and backward,
11:34before a stone was laid on a stone in Yahweh's temple,
11:38through all that time,
11:40when one came to a heap of twenty measures,
11:42there were only ten.
11:44When one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty,
11:47there were only twenty.
11:50I struck you with blight, mildew, and hail
11:53in all the work of your hands,
11:55yet you did not turn to me.
11:58Consider, please,
11:59from this day and backward,
12:00from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month,
12:03since the day that the foundation of Yahweh's temple was laid.
12:08Consider,
12:10is the seed yet in the barn?
12:12Yes,
12:14the vine,
12:14the fig tree,
12:15and the pomegranate,
12:16and the olive oil have not produced.
12:19From today,
12:21I will bless you.
12:24Yahweh's word came the second time to Kachai,
12:27in the twenty-fourth day of the month,
12:30saying,
12:31Speak to Zerubbabel,
12:32the governor of Judah,
12:34saying,
12:34I will shake the heavens and the earth.
12:37I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms.
12:41I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations.
12:45I will overthrow the chariots and those who ride in them.
12:49The horses and their riders will come down,
12:53everyone by the sword of his brother.
12:56In that day,
12:57says Yahweh of Amis,
12:59I will take you,
13:00Zerubbabel,
13:01my servant,
13:02the son of Sheotiel,
13:03says Yahweh,
13:04and I will make you as a signet,
13:06for I have chosen you,
13:09says Yahweh of Amis.
13:11This is the word of the Lord.
13:15Thanks be to God.
13:27Mary said,
13:29My soul exalts the Lord,
13:32and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
13:36because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
13:42For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
13:46because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
13:50and holy is his name.
13:53From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
13:59He has demonstrated power with his arm.
14:02He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
14:09He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
14:12and has lifted up those of lowly position.
14:15He has filled the hungry with good things,
14:18and has sent the rich away empty.
14:22He has helped his servant Israel,
14:24remembering his mercy,
14:26as he promised to our ancestors,
14:29to Abraham,
14:31and to his descendants for ever.
14:34Glory be to the Father,
14:36and to the Son,
14:37and to the Holy Spirit,
14:39as it was in the beginning,
14:41is now,
14:42and ever shall be,
14:44world without end.
14:46Amen.
14:53The Gospel according to St. Luke,
14:55chapter 12.
14:58Get dressed for service,
15:00and keep your lamps burning.
15:02Be like people waiting for their master to come knocking,
15:06from the wedding celebration,
15:08so that when he comes and knocks,
15:11they can immediately open the door for him.
15:14Blessed are those slaves,
15:16whom the master will find alert when he returns.
15:20I tell you the truth,
15:22he will dress himself to serve,
15:24have them take their place at the table,
15:26and will come and wait upon them.
15:29Even if he comes in the second or third watch of the night,
15:33and finds them alert,
15:35blessed are those slaves.
15:39Understand this thing.
15:40If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming,
15:44he would not have let his house be broken into.
15:48You must also be ready,
15:50because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
15:57Peter asked,
15:59Lord, are you telling us this parable,
16:02for our benefits or for everyone?
16:05The Lord replied,
16:08Who then is the faithful and wise manager,
16:11whom the master puts in charge of his household servants,
16:14to give them their allowance of food at the proper time?
16:18Blessed is the slave whom his master finds at work when he returns.
16:23I tell you the truth,
16:25the master will put him in charge of all his possessions.
16:30If that slave should say to himself,
16:32My master is delayed in his return,
16:35and he begins to beat the other slaves,
16:38both male and female,
16:39and to eat, drink and get drunk,
16:42then the master of that slave will come on a day he does not expect,
16:46and at an hour he does not foresee,
16:49and will cut him in two,
16:51assigning him a place with the unfaithful.
16:55That servant who knew his master's will,
16:57but did not get ready to do what his master asked,
17:01will receive a severe beating.
17:04But the one who did not know his master's will,
17:07and did things worthy of punishment,
17:09will receive a lighter beating.
17:10From everyone who has been given much,
17:15much will be required,
17:18and from the one who has been entrusted with much,
17:22even more will be asked.
17:26I have come to bring fire upon the earth,
17:29and how I wish it were already kindled.
17:32I have a baptism to undergo,
17:34and how distressed I am until it is finished.
17:39Do you think I have come to bring peace on earth?
17:42No, I tell you, but rather division.
17:46For from now on there will be five in one household divided,
17:50three against two, and two against three.
17:52They will be divided father against son,
17:55and son against father,
17:57mother against daughter,
17:59daughter against mother,
18:01mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law,
18:04and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
18:09Jesus said to the crowds,
18:11when you see a cloud rising in the west at once,
18:14you say,
18:16a rainstorm is coming,
18:18and it does.
18:20When you see the south wind blowing,
18:22you say,
18:23there will be scorching heat,
18:25and there is.
18:27You hypocrites,
18:29you know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky,
18:33but how can you not know how to interpret the present time?
18:39Why don't you judge for yourselves what is right,
18:43as you are going with your accuser before the magistrate?
18:48Make an effort to settle with him on the way,
18:51so that he will not drag you before the judge,
18:54and the judge hand you over to the officer,
18:56and the officer throw you into the prison.
19:01For I tell you,
19:02you will never get out of there
19:03until you have paid the very last cent.
19:08This is the word of the Lord.
19:11Thanks be to God.
19:21Now according to your word,
19:24Sovereign Lord,
19:25permit your servant to depart in peace.
19:28For my eyes have seen your salvation,
19:31that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
19:36a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
19:39and for glory to your people Israel.
19:44Glory be to the Father,
19:46and to the Son,
19:47and to the Holy Spirit,
19:48as it was in the beginning,
19:50is now,
19:51and ever shall be,
19:52world without end.
19:55Amen.
20:00I believe in God the Father Almighty,
20:03maker of heaven and earth,
20:05and in Jesus Christ,
20:07his only Son,
20:07our Lord,
20:09who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
20:12born of the Virgin Mary,
20:14suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
20:17was crucified,
20:19dead,
20:20and buried.
20:21He descended into hell.
20:23On the third day,
20:24he rose again from the dead.
20:26He ascended into heaven,
20:29and is sitting at the right hand of God,
20:31the Father Almighty.
20:34From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
20:38I believe in the Holy Spirit,
20:40the Holy Catholic Church,
20:42the communion of saints,
20:44the forgiveness of sins,
20:47the resurrection of the body,
20:49and the life everlasting.
20:51Amen.
20:57The Lord be with you,
21:00and with your spirit.
21:04Let us pray.
21:07Lord, have mercy upon us.
21:11Christ, have mercy upon us.
21:15Lord, have mercy upon us.
21:22Our Father,
21:23who is in heaven,
21:25holy is your name.
21:28May your kingdom come.
21:30May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
21:35Give us this day our daily bread.
21:37Forgive us our trespasses,
21:39as we forgive those who trespass against us.
21:44Lead us not into temptation,
21:46but deliver us from evil.
21:50For yours is the kingdom,
21:52the power and the glory,
21:54for ever and ever.
21:57Amen.
22:01O Lord, show your mercy upon us,
22:05and grant us your salvation.
22:10Protect and guide those in authority over us,
22:14and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
22:21Endue your ministers with righteousness,
22:24and make your chosen people joyful.
22:30O Lord, save your people,
22:33O Lord, save your people,
22:34and bless your inheritance.
22:38Give peace in our time, O Lord,
22:41because there is none other who fights for us,
22:44but only you, O God.
22:48O God, make clean our hearts within us,
22:53and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
23:04Let us pray.
23:06O God,
23:08for as much as without you,
23:10we are not able to please you,
23:13mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit
23:15may in all things direct and rule our hearts.
23:20Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
23:23Amen.
23:32O God,
23:34from whom all holy desires,
23:37all good counsels,
23:38and all just works proceed,
23:40give to your servants that peace
23:43which the world cannot give,
23:45that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
23:50and also that, by you,
23:52we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
23:56may pass our time in rest and quietness.
24:00Through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
24:04Amen.
24:09Lighten our darkness, we beseech you, O Lord,
24:12and by your great mercy defend us all
24:15from perils and dangers of this night.
24:19For the love of your only Son,
24:22our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
24:24Amen.
24:28Almighty God,
24:29who has given us grace at this time with one accord
24:33to make our common supplications to you,
24:36and promises that when two or three
24:39are gathered together in your name,
24:41you will grant their requests.
24:45Fulfill now, O Lord,
24:46the desires and petitions of your servants,
24:50as may be most beneficial for them,
24:54granting us in this world
24:56knowledge of your truth,
24:58and in the world to come,
25:00life everlasting.
25:02Amen.
25:05With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
25:08and the love of God,
25:09and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
25:11be with us all evermore.
25:15Amen.
