00:04The words of the prophet Joel, chapter 2, verse 13.
00:11Rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God.
00:18For he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repented him of the evil.
00:31Dearly beloved brethren, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our manifold sins and wickedness.
00:42But that we should not disassemble, nor clave them before the face of Almighty God our Heavenly Father.
00:51But confess them, with a humble, lowly, penitent, and obedient heart, to the end that we may obtain forgiveness of
01:02the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:07And although we ought at all times humbly to acknowledge our sins before God, yet ought we chiefly so to
01:15do,
01:16when we assemble and meet together, to render thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:23To set forth his most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are
01:32requisite and necessary, as well for the body as the soul.
01:39Wherefore I pray and beseech you, as many as are here present, to accompany me with a pure heart and
01:47humble voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, saying after me.
01:55Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep.
02:04We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:11We have offended against thy holy laws.
02:16We have left undone those things which we ought to have done, and we have done those things we ought
02:23not to have done, and there is no health in us.
02:29But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders.
02:35Spare thou them, O God, who confess their faults, or restore thou those who are penitent.
02:42Spare thou them, O God, according to thy promises declared unto mankind, in Christ Jesus our Lord.
02:49And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life.
02:59To the glory of thy holy name. Amen.
03:06Almighty God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who desireth not the death of a sinner,
03:13but rather that he turn from his wickedness and live,
03:17and has given power and commandment to his ministers to declare and pronounce to his people,
03:24being penitent, the absolution and remission of their sins,
03:32he pardoneth and absolveth all who truly repent, and unfaimly believe his holy gospel.
03:42Wherefore, let us beseech him to grant us true repentance, and his Holy Spirit,
03:49that those things may please him which we do at this present,
03:53and that the rest of our life hereafter may be pure and holy,
03:58so that at the last we may come to his eternal joy,
04:03through Jesus Christ our Lord.
04:08Amen.
04:12Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
04:16Thy kingdom come.
04:18Thy will be done as it is in heaven.
04:22Give us this day our daily bread,
04:25and forgive us our trespasses,
04:28as we forgive them that trespass against us.
04:31And lead us not into temptation,
04:33but deliver us from evil,
04:36for thine is the kingdom,
04:38the power and the glory,
04:40for ever and ever.
04:42Amen.
04:46O Lord, open our lips,
04:49and our mouth shall show forth thy praise.
04:55O God, make speed to save us.
04:59O Lord, make haste to help us.
05:05Glory be to the Father,
05:06and to the Son,
05:07and to the Holy Ghost,
05:09as it was in the beginning,
05:11is now, and ever shall be,
05:14world without end.
05:16Amen.
05:20Praise ye the Lord.
05:22The Lord's name be praised.
05:27O come, let us sing unto the Lord,
05:30and let us heartily rejoice
05:32in the strength of our salvation.
05:36Let us come before his presence
05:38with thanksgiving,
05:40and show ourselves glad in him with psalms.
05:44For the Lord is a great God,
05:46and a great King above all gods.
05:50In his hand are all the corners of the earth,
05:52and the strength of the hills is his also.
05:57The sea is his, and he made it,
05:59and his hands prepared the dry land.
06:03O come, let us worship and hold home,
06:06and kneel before the Lord, our Maker.
06:10For he is the Lord, our God,
06:13and we are the people of his pasture,
06:15and the sheep of his hand.
06:19Today, if you will hear his voice,
06:22harden not your hearts,
06:23as in the provocation,
06:25and as in the day of temptation,
06:28in the wilderness,
06:30when our fathers tempted us,
06:32proved us,
06:33and saw our works.
06:37Forty years long,
06:38I was grieved with this generation,
06:40and said,
06:41it is a people that do err in their hearts,
06:44and they have not known my ways.
06:48Unto whom I swore in my wrath,
06:50that they should not enter into my rest.
06:55Glory be to the Father,
06:57and to the Son,
06:57and to the Holy Ghost,
06:59as it was in the beginning,
07:01is now, and ever shall be,
07:04world without end.
07:06Amen.
07:14Psalm 68
07:18Let God arise,
07:19and let his enemies be scattered.
07:21Let them also that hate him,
07:24flee before him.
07:26Like as the smoke vanishes,
07:28so shalt thou drive them away.
07:31And like as wax melteth at the fire,
07:34so let the ungodly perish,
07:37at the presence of God.
07:39But let the righteous be glad,
07:41and rejoice before God.
07:44Let them also be merry,
07:46and joyful.
07:48O sing unto God,
07:50and sing praises unto his name.
07:53Magnify him that rideth upon the heavens,
07:56as if it were upon an horse.
07:59Praise him in his name,
08:01Yah,
08:02and rejoice before him.
08:05He is a father of the fatherless,
08:08and defendeth the cause of the widows,
08:11even God in his holy habitation.
08:15He is the God that maketh men to be of one mind in an house,
08:19and bringeth the prisoners out of captivity.
08:22But letteth the renegades continue in scarceness.
08:28O God,
08:29when thou wentest forth before the people,
08:31when thou wentest through the wilderness,
08:34the earth shook,
08:35and the heavens dropped at the presence of God,
08:38even as Sinai also was moved at the presence of God,
08:43who is the God of Israel.
08:47Thou, O God,
08:48sentest a gracious rain upon thine inheritance,
08:52and refreshest it when it was weary.
08:57Thy congregation shall dwell therein,
09:00for thou, O God,
09:02hast of thy goodness prepared for the poor.
09:07The Lord gave the word.
09:09Great was the company of the preachers.
09:12Kings with their armies did flee,
09:15and were discomfited,
09:17and they of the household divided the spoil.
09:21Though you have lean among the pots,
09:24yet shall be as the wings of a dove,
09:27that is covered with silver wings,
09:30and her feathers like gold.
09:33When the Almighty scattered kings for their sake,
09:37they then were as white as snow in sun.
09:41As the hill of Bassan,
09:43so is God's hill,
09:45even an high hill
09:46as the high hills of Bassan.
09:50Why hop you so,
09:52you high hills?
09:53This is God's hill,
09:55in which it pleaseth him to dwell.
09:58Yea, the Lord will abide in it for ever.
10:02The chariots of God are twenty thousand,
10:05even thousands of angels,
10:08and the Lord is among them.
10:10For thine enemies,
10:12that the Lord God might dwell among them.
10:16Praised be the Lord God daily,
10:19even the God who helpeth us,
10:21and poureth his benefits upon us.
10:24He is our God,
10:26even the God of whom cometh salvation.
10:30God is the Lord,
10:31by whom we escape death.
10:34God shall not wound the head of his enemies,
10:37and the hairy scalp of one
10:39goeth instilled in his wickedness.
10:43The Lord hath said,
10:45I will bring my people again,
10:47as I did from Bassan.
10:49Mine own will I bring again,
10:51as I did sometime from the deep of the sea.
10:55That thy foot may be dipped in the blood of thine enemies,
10:59and that the tongue of thy dogs may be read through the same.
11:04It is well seen,
11:06O God,
11:07how thou goest.
11:08How thou,
11:09my God and King,
11:10goest in the sanctuary.
11:13The singers go before the minstrels follow after,
11:16in the midst of the damsels playing with the timbrels.
11:21Give thanks,
11:22O Israel,
11:23unto God the Lord in the congregations,
11:25from the ground of the heart.
11:28There is little Benjamin their ruler,
11:30and the princes of Judah their council,
11:33the princes of Zebulun,
11:35and the princes of Necuni.
11:39Thy earth has sent forth strength for thee.
11:43Establish the thing,
11:44O God,
11:45that thou hast wrought in us,
11:47for thy temple's sacred Jerusalem.
11:49So shall kings bring presents unto thee.
11:54But the company of the spearmen,
11:57and the multitude of the mighty,
11:59are scattered abroad amongst the beasts of the people,
12:02so that they humbly bring pieces of silver.
12:05And when he hath scattered the people,
12:08the delight in war.
12:11Then shall the princes come out of Egypt,
12:13the Morians land,
12:15or soon stretch their hands unto God.
12:20Sing to God,
12:22ye kingdoms of the earth,
12:23O sing praises unto the Lord,
12:26who sitteth in the heavens,
12:28over all from the beginning.
12:30Lo,
12:31he hath sent his voice,
12:33yea,
12:33and that a mighty voice.
12:36Ascribe ye the power to God over Israel,
12:40his worship and strength is in the clouds.
12:43O God,
12:44wonderful art thou in thy holy places.
12:47Even the God of Israel,
12:49he will give strength and power unto his people.
12:53Blessed be God.
12:56Glory be to the Father,
12:58and to the Son,
12:59and to the Holy Ghost.
13:01As it was in the beginning,
13:02is now,
13:03and ever shall be,
13:05world without end.
13:06Amen.
13:11The Prophet Habakkuk,
13:13Chapter 3
13:14A prayer of Habakkuk,
13:17the prophet,
13:18said to Victorious Music.
13:21Yahweh,
13:22I have heard of your fame.
13:23I stand in awe of your deeds,
13:26Yahweh.
13:27Renew your work in the middle of the years.
13:30In the middle of the years make it known.
13:32In wrath you remember mercy.
13:36God came from Timan,
13:38the Holy One from Mentparan.
13:41His glory governed the heavens,
13:43and his praise filled the earth.
13:46His splendour is like the sunrise.
13:49Rays shine from his hand,
13:52where his power is hidden.
13:55Plague went before him,
13:57and pestilence followed his feet.
14:00He stood and shook the earth.
14:02He looked and made the nations tremble.
14:06The ancient mountains were crumbled.
14:09The age-old hills collapsed.
14:12His ways are eternal.
14:14I saw the tents of Kushan in affliction.
14:17The dwellings in the land of Midian trembled.
14:21Was Yahweh displeased with the rivers?
14:24Was your anger against the rivers,
14:26or your wrath against the sea
14:27that you rode on your horses,
14:29on your chariots of salvation?
14:32You uncovered your bow.
14:35You called for your sworn arrows.
14:38You split the earth with rivers.
14:40The mountains saw you and were afraid.
14:44The storm of waters passed by.
14:46The deeps roared and lifted up
14:49its hands on high.
14:52The sun and moon stood still in the sky,
14:54at the light of your arrows as they went,
14:57at the shining of your glittering spear.
15:01You marched through the land in wrath.
15:03You threshed the nations in anger.
15:06You went out for the salvation of your people,
15:09for the salvation of your anointed.
15:12You crushed the head of the land of wickedness.
15:15You stripped them head to foot.
15:17You pierced the heads of his warriors
15:19by their own spears.
15:21They came as a whirlwind to scatter me,
15:25gloating as if to devour the wretched in secret.
15:29You trampled the sea with your horses,
15:31churning mighty waters.
15:33I heard, and my body trembled.
15:36My lips quivered at the voice.
15:39Rottenness enters into my bones,
15:41and I tremble in my place.
15:44Because I must wait quietly for the day of trouble,
15:48for the coming up of the people who invade us.
15:51For there the fig tree does not flourish,
15:54nor fruit be in the vines.
15:56The labour of the olive fails,
15:59the fields yield no food.
16:01The flocks are cut off from the fold,
16:03and there is no herd in the stalls.
16:06Yet will I rejoice in Yahweh?
16:09Will I be joyful in the God of my salvation?
16:15Yahweh, the Lord, is my strength.
16:17He makes my feet like deer's feet,
16:20and enables me to go in high places.
16:25This is for the music director
16:27on my stringed instruments.
16:31This is the word of the Lord.
16:34Thanks be to God.
16:39We praise thee, O God.
16:41We acknowledge thee to be the Lord.
16:44All the earth does worship thee,
16:47the Father everlasting.
16:50To thee all angels cry aloud,
16:53the heavens and all the powers therein.
16:57To thee, cherubim and seraphim,
17:00continually do cry,
17:01holy, holy, holy,
17:04holy, lord God of sub-mail,
17:07heaven and earth are full
17:08of the majesty of thy glory.
17:12The glorious company of the apostles,
17:15praise thee.
17:17The goodly fellowship of the prophets,
17:20praise thee.
17:21The noble army of martyrs,
17:24praise thee.
17:25The holy church throughout all the world
17:28does acknowledge thee.
17:30The Father of an infinite majesty,
17:34thine honourable true and only Son,
17:37also the Holy Ghost,
17:39the Comforter.
17:41Thou art the King of glory,
17:43O Christ.
17:44Thou art the everlasting Son of the Father.
17:49When thou tookest upon thee to deliver man,
17:52thou didst not abel the virgin's womb.
17:56For thou hast overcome the sharpness of death.
17:59Thou didst open the kingdom of heaven
18:02to all believers.
18:05Thou sittest at the right hand of God
18:08in the glory of the Father.
18:10We believe that thou shalt come
18:13to be our judge.
18:15We therefore pray thee,
18:17help thy servants,
18:19whom thou hast redeemed
18:20with thy precious blood.
18:22Make them to be numbered with thy signs
18:25in glory everlasting.
18:29O Lord, save thy people
18:31and bless thine heritage.
18:34Govern them and lift them up for ever.
18:37Day by day we magnify thee,
18:41and we worship thy name
18:43ever, world without end.
18:46Vouch safe, O Lord,
18:47to keep us this day without sin.
18:50Lord, have mercy upon us,
18:53have mercy upon us.
18:56Lord, let thy mercy lighten upon us
18:58as our trust is in thee.
19:02O Lord, in thee have I trusted.
19:04Let me never be confounded.
19:08Glory be to the Father,
19:10and to the Son,
19:11and to the Holy Spirit,
19:12as it was in the beginning,
19:15is now and ever shall be,
19:17world without end.
19:19Amen.
19:24The epistle to the Colossians,
19:28chapter 2.
19:33Be careful that you don't let anyone rob you
19:36through his philosophy
19:37or vain deceit
19:38after the tradition of men,
19:41after the elements of the world,
19:43and not after Christ.
19:46For in him all the fullness of the deity dwells bodily,
19:50and in him you are made full,
19:52who is the head of all principality and power,
19:56in whom you are also circumcised,
19:59with a circumcision not made with hands,
20:02in the cutting off of the body of the sins of the flesh,
20:05in the circumcision of Christ.
20:08Having been buried with him in baptism,
20:11in which you were also raised with him
20:13through the faith in the working of God,
20:16who raised him from the dead.
20:18You were dead through your trespasses
20:20and the uncircumcision of your flesh.
20:24He made you alive together with him,
20:26having forgiven us all our trespasses,
20:29wiping out the handwriting in ordinances
20:32which was against us.
20:34He has taken it out of the way,
20:36nailing it to the cross,
20:38having stripped the principalities and the powers.
20:42He made a show of them openly,
20:43triumphing over them in it.
20:46Let no one, therefore,
20:48judge you in eating or in drinking,
20:50or with respect to a feast day,
20:53a new moon or a Sabbath day,
20:55which are only a shadow of the things to come.
20:59But the body belongs to Christ.
21:01Let no one rob you of your prize
21:04by a voluntary humility
21:06and worshipping of the angels,
21:09dwelling in things which he has not seen,
21:12vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
21:14and not holding firmly to the head,
21:17from whom all the body,
21:19being supplied and knit together
21:21through the joints and ligaments,
21:23grows with God's will.
21:26If you died with Christ
21:28from the elements of the world,
21:30why, as though living in the world,
21:33do you subject yourself to ordinances,
21:36such as don't handle,
21:38don't taste,
21:40do not touch,
21:42all of which perish with use,
21:44according to the precepts and doctrine of men,
21:48which things indeed appear like wisdom
21:51in the self-imposed worship,
21:53humility and severity to the body,
21:57but are not of any value at all
21:59against the indulgence of the flesh.
22:03This is the word of the Lord.
22:06Thanks be to God.
22:15Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
22:17for he hath visited and redeemed his people,
22:22and hath raised up a mighty salvation for us
22:25in the house of his servant David,
22:28as he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets,
22:32which have since been since the world began,
22:35that we should be saved from our enemies
22:37and from the hand of all that hate us,
22:41to perform the mercy promised to our forefathers
22:45and to remember his holy covenant,
22:48to perform the oath which he swore to our forefather Abraham
22:53that he would give us,
22:55that would be delivered out of the hand of our enemies,
22:58might serve him without fear,
23:01in holiness and righteousness before him
23:04all the days of our life.
23:08And thou, child,
23:10shalt be called the prophet of the highest,
23:12for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord
23:14to prepare his ways,
23:16to give knowledge of salvation to his people
23:20for the remission of their sins,
23:23through the tender mercy of our God,
23:26whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,
23:30to give light to them that sit in darkness
23:34and in the shadow of death,
23:36and to guide our feet into the way of peace.
23:41Glory be to the Father and to the Son
23:43and to the Holy Ghost,
23:45as it was in the beginning,
23:47is now and ever shall be,
23:49world without end.
23:51Amen.
23:58I believe in God the Father Almighty,
24:02maker of heaven and earth,
24:04and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
24:08who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
24:11born of the Virgin Mary,
24:13suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
24:15crucified dead and buried.
24:17He descended into hell,
24:20the third day he rose again from the dead.
24:24He ascended into heaven,
24:26and seated on the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
24:31From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
24:36I believe in the Holy Ghost,
24:38the Holy Catholic Church,
24:40the communion of saints,
24:42the forgiveness of sins,
24:44the resurrection of the body,
24:46and the life everlasting.
24:49Amen.
24:53The Lord be with you and with thy spirit.
24:59Let us pray.
25:02Lord, have mercy upon us.
25:05Christ, have mercy upon us.
25:08Lord, have mercy upon us.
25:14Our Father, which art in heaven,
25:17hallowed be thy name.
25:19Thy kingdom come.
25:21Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
25:25Give us this day our daily bread,
25:28and forgive us our trespasses,
25:31as we forgive those who trespass against us.
25:35And lead us not into temptation,
25:38but deliver us from evil.
25:41Amen.
25:44O Lord, show thy mercy upon us,
25:47and grant us thy salvation.
25:51O Lord, save the King,
25:54and mercifully hear us when we call upon thee.
25:59Endue thy ministers with righteousness,
26:02and make thy chosen people joyful.
26:08O Lord, save thy people,
26:10and bless thine inheritance.
26:15Give peace in our time, O Lord,
26:19because there is none other that fighteth for us,
26:22but only thou, O God.
26:26O God, make clean our hearts within us,
26:30and take not thy Holy Spirit from us.
26:42O God, who didst set thy servant Edward
26:49upon the throne of an earthly kingdom,
26:52and didst inspire him with zeal for the kingdom of heaven,
26:57grant that we may so confess the faith of Christ
27:01by word and deed,
27:03that we may, with all the saints,
27:06inherit thine eternal glory.
27:09Through Jesus Christ, thy Son, our Lord,
27:12who liveth and reigneth with thee
27:14in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
27:17one God, now and for ever.
27:20Amen.
27:26O God, who art the author of peace
27:29and lover of concord,
27:31in the knowledge of whom standeth our eternal life,
27:35whose service is perfect freedom,
27:38defend us, thy humble servants,
27:41in all assaults of our enemies,
27:43that we, surely trusting in thy defence,
27:47may not fear the power of any adversaries.
27:50through the might of Jesus Christ,
27:53our Lord.
27:54Amen.
27:58O Lord, our Heavenly Father,
28:00almighty and everlasting God,
28:03who has safely brought us to the beginning of this day,
28:07defend us in the same with thy mighty power,
28:10and grant that this day we fall into no sin,
28:14neither run into any kind of danger,
28:16but that all our doings may be ordered
28:20according to thy governance,
28:22to do always that which is righteous in your sight,
28:27through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
28:30Amen.
28:33O Lord, our Heavenly Father,
28:35the high and mighty King of kings,
28:37Lord of lords and ruler of princes,
28:42who dost from thy throne behold
28:44all the dwellers on earth.
28:47Most heartily we beseech thee with thy favour
28:50to behold our most gracious sovereign king,
28:53King Charles,
28:54and so replenish him with the grace of thy Holy Spirit,
28:58that he may always incline to thy will
29:01and walk in thy way.
29:04Endue him plenteously with heavenly gifts,
29:08grant him in health and wealth long to live,
29:11strengthen him that he may vanquish
29:15and overcome all his enemies,
29:18and finally after this life
29:20he may attain everlasting joy and felicity.
29:25Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
29:28Amen.
29:32Almighty God,
29:33to the fountain of all goodness,
29:34we humbly beseech thee to bless
29:37William, Prince of Wales,
29:38and all the royal family.
29:41Endue them with thy Holy Spirit,
29:43enrich them with the heavenly grace,
29:46prosper them with all happiness,
29:49and bring them to thine everlasting kingdom.
29:52Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
29:56Amen.
29:59Almighty and everlasting God,
30:01who alone workest great marvels,
30:04send down upon our bishops and curates
30:07and all congregations committed to their charge
30:10the helpful spirit of thy grace,
30:14that they may truly please thee,
30:17pour upon them the continual due of thy blessing.
30:22For of this, O Lord,
30:23for the honour of our Advocate and Mediator,
30:26Jesus Christ.
30:28Amen.
30:31Almighty God,
30:32who has given us grace at this time
30:34with one accord
30:35to make our common supplications unto thee,
30:39and us promise that
30:40when two or three are gathered together
30:43in thy name,
30:44thou wilt grant their requests.
30:47Fulfill now, O Lord,
30:49the desires and petitions of thy servants,
30:52as may be most expedient for them,
30:55granting us in this world
30:57knowledge of thy truth,
31:00and in the world to come
31:01life everlasting.
31:04Amen.
31:07The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
