00:00Like Lima dumped on it and it's like there's three weeks left to go but I think that there
00:06has to be an understanding like if you put Shador out there it's not just you're putting
00:09Shador out there you're putting an entire fan base in a conversation you're putting a whole
00:13thing out there and this is all under the auspices of if Deshaun Watson were to get hurt.
00:19Deshaun Watson you're started that's the way it goes but like when they hear from Mo Yafusi
00:23yesterday where he says you know Andrew Barry loves a trade loves a QB trade which he does
00:28he calls QB's currency that's the exact words he's used yeah he likes that and I have myself
00:37a conversation here over the next three weeks as the window opens all right what do I do with
00:43what do I do with Dylan Gabriel do I put him out there do I possibly make him the number
00:49two
00:49even though yeah I because right now like you think about this if they were one in three like a
00:57lot of
00:57people thought they'd be or oh and four like a lot of people thought they'd be it's like okay you're
01:00putting Shador out there Shador probably would have already been out there but you're three and one
01:05if Todd like Todd Munkin could absolutely look at and go hey you know Deshaun went down whether it
01:12be an injury like a Baker Mayfield style injury three to six weeks whatever it is god forbid
01:18we're gonna go with a guy who knows the offense implicitly and that's Dylan Gabriel I don't think
01:24you'd get much pushback I think the online you would get pushback but I think from like Browns
01:29fans like on the phones I don't think you get much pushback like right now they'd be like okay
01:34Todd thinks he knows better on the offense he knows the offense better with three and one let's go
01:39like I think you'd get a lot of that online you get a lot of pushback if you put Shador
01:43out there
01:44and he was still kind of guessing what's going on well then have I put my team at an advantage
01:50because I got to think of the other 52 now so are you saying that you believe there's a chance
01:57that Dylan Gabriel is the number two if he was healthy right now because I've just never thought
02:02that that's never even really crossed my mind I didn't think but it didn't cross my mind he wasn't
02:06able to even compete for the starting job we asked Todd about that when we had him in studio but
02:11you
02:11know when they tell us behind closed doors even though we let it out for everybody but you I mean
02:15I think that we can say it and you've said it already that he knows the offense better than
02:20anybody else we didn't consider them being three and one when that conversation first happened
02:25so if it were like we weren't going to be three and one it's like what are we what are
02:28we playing
02:29for let's put the guy out there let's see if we got anything in this guy before we go on
02:33and have
02:34the more Manning etc etc conversation now you're three and one now I got to compete well that changes
02:40things since now I gotta have a guy who knows the offensive where to put people and if Dylan Gabriel
02:45knows it better than anybody like he's not as talented as Deshaun Deshaun wins the job okay but
02:52if he still knows the offense better now I gotta have a conversation what do I do do I go
02:56with knowledge
02:56or do I go with overall talent yeah I guess I guess just all along I thought I thought that
03:01Shador was
03:02kind of securely in the number two spot I thought so too so what did he had done what has
03:09he done to
03:09kind of lose that footing when the other guy supposedly has a back injury I don't think
03:13anything I don't think anything so you just think that the math has changed for what matters for the
03:18backup quarterback three and one yeah he wants he would want somebody that just knows the offense
03:24inside and out and presumably wouldn't make the mistakes that maybe Shador would make because
03:30Shador is more aggressive that's what I'm I'm I right now it's a guess I don't know for sure
03:35because obviously like I like Shador and I'd like to see him but if I don't know it doesn't sound
03:40like it if you if you think he's been relegated to the third no I'm not I'm not saying relegate
03:43I
03:44didn't you use that term I'm not like you're painting it you're paying it as a negative thing
03:47what other term would it be hold on is it a negative if I'm trying to do what's best by
03:51the
03:51entire football team here so what would you do would you still put your door out there I said
03:55if you don't know more about the offense of what Dylan Gabriel did you'd still put your door out
03:59there because of the playmaking because I think he's he's proven and granted small sample but in
04:05his seven games last year against what Dylan had five or whatever that you know Dylan was doing
04:11everything it looked like he was doing everything he could not to try to go vertical and Shador has
04:17shown that and I don't I don't know Shador the development part of this too that I'm hoping behind
04:25the scenes he's getting as as good as you can be without actually playing in the in the game see
04:31that's the problem I'm not interested in developing anymore I'm three and one I'm interested in making
04:35a run towards the playoffs now if I'm Todd Munkin so there's no development you don't think it's the
04:39quarterback coach the assistants you don't think they're doing everything they can they're they're
04:43doing everything they possibly can but again if Dylan Gabriel knows the offense better it's a
04:50conversation because then I I gotta know where my offensive line needs to go I need to know where
04:54where their steps are I need to know exactly where my guys are supposed to line up I still have
04:58two rookies now they're doing a great job and I think they know the offense just fine but I still
05:02got to make sure that they're lined up properly here if we're going to do different things
05:05offensively against different teams so it's it is a hypothetical but I don't think it's just cut
05:11and dry anymore because you're three and one I don't think it's just cut and dry anymore
05:15Shador plays okay so in your mind Dylan Gabriel has passed Shador up on the depth chart that I don't
05:21know how can I say that oh I everything you just said over the last five minutes made me think
05:24that
05:25in your mind that's if he knows the offense better than if I'm running the team it's hard for me
05:31to
05:32just discount that and go well one's a better talent one's a better talent like we've seen great talent
05:36before but if they don't know where they're supposed to go like I'm not just gonna put Shador out there
05:40to make the fans feel better I gotta go out and make Kenny Carmen on the radio feel better I
05:44gotta do
05:44what's best for the other 52 what I was hoping for for Shador's development not above the team or
05:50anything like that I've been hoping that what has it been now since he did not win the starting job
05:55has it been eight weeks seven weeks I'm hoping in that time I imagine he's gotten closer it hasn't
06:01been seven weeks has it well there was two weeks left and then they've played well it's been about five
06:07weeks yeah wow so I'm hoping in that time all the stuff with the playbook and that that's just
06:14more and more time I know people there were some people that brought it up over the weekend I don't
06:18know if you saw this that they were going after him for not having a headset on a couple times
06:21they
06:22showed him during the game because they're showing less and less I I'd like to think there's
06:26did they have an earpiece in it is that what you meant by headset or either it didn't look like
06:30he
06:30had either in I know some people brought that up I don't think that's a big deal I imagine that
06:35they have a rhyme and reason for all of their game day you know protocols 216-474-0092 I I
06:43don't mean to
06:43make it more difficult than what it is but I think it's a difficult conversation to have because I
06:47I think it's a difficult decision if you get to a in case you have to break glass scenario what
06:52you
06:52do with a guy Brett in Zanesville you're first up in the fan hello hello uh I honestly I I
06:59feel
06:59like Shador would probably have the biggest trade value of the two even though I don't think it's much
07:05if any at all but I also feel Dylan has the longer future in Cleveland I could see him being
07:13more of a
07:14backup like Chase Daniel or somebody of that nature because the guy of the future is still not on the
07:20team
07:20yet in my opinion so I don't see keeping Shador because I don't really see a future of him being
07:31a starter and I also don't really see a future of him being the backup either well I don't see
07:38I I
07:39think honestly Brett he's either a starter or I don't know if he's playing in the NFL so honestly I
07:48just
07:48I feel like he's like got the brawny effect because who his dad is I honestly don't think he's the
07:55greatest in the first place I think he's just really there because his dad uh Dion
08:01Blima do you believe the same thing I I think I think that's ridiculous because I mean he was a
08:06really really outstanding college quarterback and outstanding college quarterbacks get drafted
08:11in the NFL yeah and then he came in and while the numbers were really really bad the playmaking
08:17ability and his his he had this innate sense to be able to escape some hellacious pockets last year
08:25yes and still keep his head up and find guys now you can't live and die on that stuff you
08:30got to be
08:30able to do everything else but there was enough there for me to say all right nepotism stuff's out
08:36the window like he's showing he can play in the NFL I figure that I mean that's an old conversation
08:41that we had that I thought we kind of put to bed but no you just explained it better than
08:44anybody
08:45216-474-0092 which QB could would you trade if you got one guy coming back the practice windows open
08:53which one could or would you because I think they're different answers
