01:48He hasn't played very well.

01:54We can keep our fingers crossed and hope that he discovers what he was in Houston.

01:59And I'd be stunned if he's on the team next year.
02:02Should Gabriel's name be in the mix?
02:04Well, he's one of two guys who you drafted last year, so yeah.

02:13They made the determination, they at least determined this,
02:16that the competition was going to be between Deshaun and Chidor.

02:21That was, we heard that come out of Todd Munkin's mouth,
02:25that it's a two-man competition.

02:30There's another point.
02:31It is, so it doesn't really matter.
02:32So Meredith brought this up this morning when we were talking for a minute
02:35about Gabriel and Stefanski and wondering if.
02:43Everybody says that Kevin was the handpicked, that he handpicked Dylan.
02:48Until Kevin starts drafting players, that's not completely true.
02:52I don't know how true it was or wasn't,
02:54but Andrew Barry is the guy who has Dylan Gabriel on his draft record.
02:59He has Chidor Sanders on his draft record.
03:01He hopefully ends up looking brilliant for taking one or the other or both.
03:06I thought you brought up a good point with Stefanski and Gabriel
03:10and what you thought could have been going on behind the scenes.
03:15Yeah, well, my question about that was, you know,
03:19was it Kevin Stefanski's offense and the offensive weapons at his disposal
03:24that kind of set him up for failure in a way?
03:27And I don't necessarily want to say that he was set up for failure
03:30because no one's ever going to do that.
03:31Like, no coach is ever going to purposely put their player in a position to fail.
03:35But if Dylan Gabriel was struggling, was it because of the offensive scheme?
03:39And what would he look like?
03:41What is he going to look like this year if he gets a chance to start at any?
03:45Before Todd Monken.
03:46Right.
03:46What is he going to look like with a different offensive coordinator
03:48and a different head coach?
03:49Maybe Kevin Stefanski saw what he did in college and misread his abilities
03:53and said, okay, I can design this offensive scheme for him.
03:56And it just didn't work.
03:57Well, you could say the same thing about Shadour.
03:59Yeah.
04:00You know, you want to compare their numbers,
04:02you can compare their numbers from last year.
04:05Shadour threw the ball down the field.
04:08Dylan did not.
04:11175 yards per game for Shadour.
04:1394 for Dylan Gabriel.
04:1710 interceptions for Shadour.
04:192 for Dylan Gabriel.
04:21You know, it screams, it's, well, it's obvious.
04:25It doesn't even scream.
04:26There was a much more conservative approach on offense when Dylan Gabriel was a quarterback.
04:30Was that because of Dylan and his abilities?
04:33Or as Meredith insinuates, was that because of what Kevin schemed up?
04:38And why did it change when Shadour went out there?
04:41Was it because Shadour has different abilities?
04:43Or is it because they just went ahead and went for it?
04:48Coaches don't like interceptions.
04:50Shadour threw 10 and Dylan threw 2.
04:53So that, you know, that's one in the Dylan column.
04:57But Shadour almost doubled them up in yardage.
05:00That's one in the Shadour column.
05:02And neither one had a great completion percentage.
05:0557 basically for Shadour and 59, 60 for Dylan.
05:11The other part of that Kevin Stefanski conversation was, you know, when they traded Kenny Pickett,
05:18and I hate to go back down this road, then they trade Joe Flacco,
05:22although Flacco was still on the roster when they made Gabriel the starting quarterback.
05:29What was that impact on Kevin?
05:31And was that the point where Kevin knew, I'm done here.
05:34This isn't going to work anymore.
05:35I had two veteran quarterbacks.
05:38I actually had three with Deshaun, but, you know, he ended up getting hurt.
05:42And so now I've got two vets on this team.
05:46Kenny Pickett didn't even get to sniff the field because he was gone during the preseason.
05:51Remember, do you remember them trying to sell us on the fact that there might be four quarterbacks
05:56on the roster to start the season?
05:58You knew.
05:59You mean like we're hearing now?
06:02Yeah, I guess.
06:03Like we're hearing now.
06:04But I don't feel the same way.
06:05To some extent.
06:06But it doesn't feel the same way because you're not talking about Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco.
06:11Right?
06:12That's why it doesn't feel the same way.
06:13It kind of feels like there's a natural order of things.
06:15The question is, is where does Gabriel fall into that?
06:19And are they going to end up trading one of these quarterbacks?
06:24Andy, I don't.
06:24And by the way, is there anybody that wants any of it?
06:27I mean, is there somebody that wants – is there another team that would take Shadour?
06:31If they're not going to start Shadour, I kind of want them to trade him.
06:36I'm sure that if they cut Dylan or if they cut Shadour or traded – if they cut either guy,
06:42they'd both be picked up.
06:44And if you ended up – if you ended up finding a trade partner, somebody needed somebody,
06:50I'm sure you could get a – you'd get a late-round pick for Dylan,
06:55and I'll bet you'd get nothing more than a fifth for Shadour.
06:58Nothing wrong with that.
06:59I mean, that's just the way it goes.
07:03So looking at that conversation, saying,
07:07I wonder what Kevin's offense would have looked like last year if he would have been able to hang on
07:13to –
07:13even if they hung on to Kenny Pickett.
07:15Now, look, did Pickett have great success with the Raiders last year?
07:20Did he knock anybody's socks off?
07:21I don't know.
07:22The offensive line, as we saw, didn't even matter who the quarterback was last year
07:26because the offensive line was in shambles all year.
07:29You didn't have a receiver.
07:31Your leading receiver is your tight end.
07:34I mean, there were so many issues last year,
07:37and then you wonder if it just kind of – you know, they saw it,
07:40and they said, okay, well, let's start, you know, heading towards the draft,
07:44and all of a sudden you're like, oh, this sucks because here we go again.
07:48Like, I just want to be able to get into a season where even if they start –
07:51let's just say they started 2-2 through the first four games.
07:54I think I'd be happy.
07:56I'd be happy because the season wasn't over after the first month of the year.
08:00Get me to the second month of the year
08:02so I think that you still have a chance to make the playoffs.
08:04I guess that's my low-bar goal for the team and for the entire season.
08:07One thing I have found very interesting is the whole idea of accuracy with Shadur
08:14and that that's – that, you know, he's phenomenal in being accurate
08:19and everything else, and he did lead the nation in completion percentage
08:22his senior year at Colorado.
08:25He was at 74%.
08:28Dylan Gabriel was at 73%.
08:32So you can't really say – well, he's so much more accurate.
08:35No, not really.
08:37Based on their last year of college.
08:38Based on – just based – well, that's where Shadur gets all the credit
08:41for being accurate is that he completed 74% of his passes.
08:45But Gabriel was – yeah, Gabriel was –
08:46Gabriel completed 73% at Oregon, probably against better competition.
08:51And I'm not – that's not a – I'm not saying that that means Dylan's better.
08:55Their senior year numbers were nearly identical.
08:59And so, you know, maybe Todd Munkin sees something different in both of those guys
09:03and we'll see if he can bring it out.
