00:00Hello there, welcome to your Thursday morning weather update from the Met Office. A cold
00:05start to the day away from Western Scotland and Northern Ireland, all courtesy of an area
00:10of high pressure allowing for clearing skies overnight, the warmth of the day radiating
00:15away but it will drift towards the near continent as we see a weather front move in from the
00:21west. So first thing then this morning, it is chilly if you're stepping out away from
00:26Western Scotland, clearer skies so some sunshine coming through. Thickening cloud across Western
00:31Scotland, a little rain for the Western Isles, the western side of Northern Ireland as that
00:35cloud continues to roll in. Now for the North Channel Irish Seacoast, yes a brisk breeze here
00:41but inland a lighter wind, even one or two shallow mist and fog patches, certainly a dry start
00:47to the day but we will have a breeze just hopping over the South West Peninsula so rather breezy
00:52conditions as we enter the first part of the day today. So through the morning we watch
00:58as this area of cloud gradually pushes in outbreaks of rain as the winds pick up. Elsewhere a quiet
01:05morning as I said it will be a chilly one so if you're stepping out it's worth layering up
01:10but the temperatures will rise very nicely through the morning into the afternoon once we see
01:15some sunshine. Through the morning the cloud will drift across the sky but still broken at
01:20times allowing for some sunny intervals. That won't be the case across Western Scotland, you will see
01:25some rain by around lunchtime and notice this rain just slowly edging in across Northern Ireland but
01:31we could see some breaks in shelter, Belfast, Newry seeing some brighter breaks before that cloud and
01:37rain arrives. Through the afternoon then not a lot of change across England and Wales, still breezy across
01:42the west coast of Wales as well as the far south west and more of a breeze also across Scotland
01:48but
01:49we will see drier weather through the afternoon away from Western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Here's
01:56that weather front. Here are your temperatures through the afternoon, 17 or 18 central and southern
02:02areas of Scotland the east of Northern Ireland. Now for more western areas of Scotland where we see that rain
02:10band
02:10across Northern Ireland probably 14 to 16 Celsius. Across England and Wales there's still warmth in the air, in fact
02:17tomorrow will be warmer than today across the southeast of England but through today probably 19 along that west coast
02:2522 inland across Wales, 24 towards the southeast and we could see the low 20s along the eastern strip
02:31of England as well. So through this evening pleasant across England and Wales, pleasant evening to come
02:37but then that rain gradually makes inroads over the highlands towards eastern Scotland, sinks down towards
02:43southern Scotland and covers much of Northern Ireland. Some heavier pulses can't be ruled out with
02:48that strong wind as well. Dry skies across central and eastern areas of England but further north yes
02:54eventually you will see some wet weather just edging in across Anglesey as well as Gwynedd. By this point
03:00Northern Ireland is drier although we will hang on to some rain overhang of clouds across the southeast of Northern
03:06Ireland
03:07and those blustery showers slowly filter in across the north and west of Scotland. But it will be a milder
03:14night
03:14certainly across the north where you've seen that cloud and rain and even further south probably around
03:1910 to 13 degrees Celsius slightly lower in the countryside. But a bright start to the day across central and
03:26eastern
03:26areas of England. Eventually that rain just pushes in across the Midlands. It's going to be patchy and showery
03:32and in into Saturday an overhang of cloud towards the southeast before we see some brightening here. But notice towards
03:38the west
03:39eventually another weather front moves in. Showers and then some outbreaks of rain. A blustery breeze into Sunday and those
03:46showers
03:46edge eastwards yet again. A similar pattern of weather than we've seen recently to what we've seen recently. So here's

03:53for Friday. Here's that weather front. So yes you'll see some rain associated with it but sunshine coming through
04:01across the East Midlands towards the southeast. Home counties could see 27 degrees Celsius. A very warm day on the
04:07cards.
04:08Fresher north and west with that blustery breeze and showers but some drier skies and also some brighter breaks.
04:14That's a picture on Friday. Into Saturday it looks like this. So Saturday that ridge of high pressure comes in.
04:20Eventually we'll lose the cloud towards more southern and eastern areas. One or two showers in the mix.
04:25They'll be fairly scattered and temperatures reflecting the sunshine quite nicely. 17 to 22 Celsius. So less warm towards the
04:33southeast
04:34but pleasant across many areas. Away from the north and west where we'll see that thickening cloud. Eventually some outbreaks
04:40of rain
04:40on Sunday. But still a fine day further south and east yet again with some sunny spells coming through.
