Javier Milei calls UN “Useless” in fiery speech

Argentina’s President Javier Milei delivered a fiercely critical speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, taking aim at what he described as the organization’s growing bureaucracy and failures.

Milei acknowledged the UN’s original mission of promoting peace, freedom and human dignity, but argued that its founding principles have been undermined. He called the organization a “useless organization” and accused it of supporting “fatally arrogant parasites masquerading as well-intentioned bureaucrats.”

He sharply criticized the UN’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, saying lockdown policies ignored scientific evidence and national sovereignty. He described the consequences as “a global experiment in social control disguised as science.”

Milei also attacked what he called the UN’s “gender agenda,” “environmental extremism” and “unchecked immigration,” while accusing the organization of failing to respond effectively to dictatorships, terrorism and human-rights abuses.

On the Falkland Islands dispute, he argued that the UN’s lack of meaningful consequences weakens its authority, declaring, “what is lacking is consequences.”

He concluded by invoking Ludwig von Mises, saying, “Good people do not think about controlling the lives of their fellow human beings.”
