A frightening moment unfolded during Sunday’s Packers vs. Jets game when Green Bay wide receiver Jayden Reed was taken off the field on a spine board after suffering an apparent neck injury.
The incident happened early in the game after Reed took a hard hit to the head from Jets linebacker Demario Davis while trying to make a play on a pass from quarterback Jordan Love. Reed went down and remained motionless, prompting medical personnel to carefully stabilize him before placing him on the cart.
The sight left players and teammates visibly concerned as they watched from the field and sideline. Reed was ruled out for the rest of the game with a neck injury.
There was, however, some encouraging news afterward. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters that Reed had movement in all of his extremities and would remain overnight in the New York area for observation.
LaFleur described the situation as very scary, especially seeing a player unable to get up on his own.
Reed has also dealt with injuries in the past, including a broken collarbone and foot surgery last season.
