Judge Judy warns of danger without Lindsay Clancy retrial

Judge Judy Sheindlin has weighed in on the Lindsay Clancy murder case after her trial ended in a mistrial, saying prosecutors could face a “danger” if they decide not to retry her.

Asked about the possibility of another trial, Sheindlin said, “I think there's a danger in that, in not retrying.”

The 83-year-old television judge was also asked about the trial’s outcome after jurors reportedly split 11-1 in favor of finding Clancy not criminally responsible.

When asked for her view, Sheindlin responded, “I can't give you a two-minute answer on that.”

Asked whether Clancy should have been found guilty, she said, “There's no question, my dear, that she killed her children.” She added, “The only question is, is there an excuse for it? Make up your own mind on that one.”

Sheindlin also rejected Rep. Nancy Mace’s call for Clancy’s public execution, calling it “ridiculous.”

Clancy remains in custody and is due back in court September 29.
