MN Dem Senate candidate's viral hijab video takes new turn

Minnesota Democratic Senate candidate Peggy Flanagan is facing fresh scrutiny after a viral video featuring her wearing a hijab took a new turn. Nimco Ahmed, a longtime friend of Flanagan who appeared beside her in the video, operates Milestone Development Center, an autism services provider now under investigation by the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

State officials confirmed that both Milestone and Spectrum Therapy Center have open investigations, but said details cannot be released while those cases remain active. The two providers were also removed from Minnesota’s Medicaid program during a recent revalidation process and have appealed those decisions.

The developments have triggered criticism of Flanagan online, particularly because of her longstanding political relationship with Ahmed. Former Milestone therapist Grant Morgan has also raised questions about the center’s supervision, documentation and billing practices.

Ahmed has denied the allegations, calling some claims biased and saying her center follows state requirements and has undergone regular audits.
