00:01Just five qualifying race wins between the two Triumph riders so the Saturday races haven't been their forte, will they
00:07get out of the gate well today?
00:09The calm before the storm, the five second ball turns, Liam Evertz on pole, he goes gate one inside, seems
00:17to hold him a long time, Cunhan jumped again just like he did in Turkey and he pays the price,
00:23Janis Raceless leads away, or is it the 47 of Carlos Raceless, I think it's the 70-72, yes it
00:30is, Janis, top of the hill, who leads away, Camden McClellan there in second position, third is Evertz on the
00:36White Husqvarna,
00:37so this is good for Camden for taking the championship fight into the final day of the season.
00:43Ah, Evertz, a little bit deep to the outside there.
00:47Very rare that Camden has stopped Greenham out of the gate, but he's done so here when it's important there,
00:52as Ferez comes through the timing beam in seventh place to Camden's second.
00:57Yeah, and you see him just in the background there as these guys are working their way up here towards
01:01us, but good start this for Janis Raceless, the rookie of the year in NX2,
01:05the former 125 and European 250 champion, he's first visit here as well, so not hanging around,
01:12obviously likes the track, likes the food, likes all the rest of it, and the kangaroos,
01:17but he likes the way that the bike is working around this racetrack as well, so too does Camden McClellan,
01:21and actually, everybody he spoke to yesterday inside the paddock, and maybe even this morning,
01:26they kind of had it as a done deal that it would be taken care of here, because Ferez, normally
01:30the fastest starter,
01:31Camden McClellan always playing catch-up, the sprint motos he doesn't like, sprint races he doesn't like, sorry,
01:36and so that would be the difference, but it's McClellan there in second, Ferez, who was just fighting a moment
01:41ago
01:41with Kai Carsmakers for a move into sixth, didn't quite pay off, and so yeah, Camden McClellan finding something,
01:50getting out of the start today.
01:51Yeah, he needs to make a pass on Rez, as you feel, because Liam is fast here, Liam Everett's fastest
01:56in free practice
01:57and in time practice by 0.026 of a second, stood next to Stefan Everett in the pit lane when
02:03that happened,
02:03and even loving the fact that he was 0.026, so a tight margin, but still the Belgian was quickest,
02:08and McClellan will want to make sure he builds a gap and give Ferez even a tougher job to try
02:12and get past him later in this race.
02:14And Ferez still hasn't found his way past Kai Carsmakers yet.
02:17This is your leader at the moment, Giannis Raceless, Camden McClellan there in second.
02:22We're nice to go to Ferez actually in that seventh position, because this race will determine whether he will win
02:27the championship today or not.
02:28To do that, he needs to find his way past his teammate, Camden McClellan, who is currently circulating in second.
02:33However, having said all of that, there's a slight little estate there from Raceless, he knows if he doesn't win
02:38it today,
02:39he has two more opportunities tomorrow when you've got 50 points on the table and you're somewhere close to a
02:4450-point lead.
02:46The pressure is, generally speaking, fairly off, you know what I mean?
02:49It's better than being two or three points clear going into the final race of the season.
02:52Yeah, for sure, here he is, Ferez, he makes his way past Carsmakers then, over that jump touch, but not
02:57giving it to him.
02:57For sure, Kai is feisty at the moment, but yeah, Ferez up to sixth.
03:01Yeah, Ferez, nice move, top of the hill, finds his way past the Dutchman into that sixth place after a
03:07poor start.
03:07Now sets his eyes on Carlos Raceless, just ahead of him on the 47 in fifth place.
03:13And a great start for Byron Dennis for the home fans to cheer about as well.
03:16The rider who was in China last weekend for his third visit to MX2.
03:22Of course, he did China and Australia last week.
03:25Massive moment there from the 772.
03:27Oh, Yannis Raceless folded the front, coming out of that turn just by Pitt Lane.
03:31Bit of a warning sign there for him here.
03:33Back end went first, then the front followed him around.
03:36McClellan would have seen that as well, probably think, oh, I've got him on the ropes, maybe.
03:39Let's just try and apply some pressure.
03:41But yeah, great start to the Raceless for the 772 of Raceless,
03:45because so far this year he's not been better than second, and that was in Germany round seven.
03:52Interesting to note as well, I cannot see the number one.
03:54Simon Langenfelder is not lined up there.
03:56I'm not sure if you know something I don't there, Paul,
03:57but we're not seeing the defending champ out there at all.
04:00He wasn't at the media event last night.
04:01He was sick.
04:02He did two laps in free practice this morning, didn't go out in the time practice.
04:05So doesn't need to do the qualifying race to line up behind the gate tomorrow.
04:08So hopefully, just with the heat and maybe, I don't know, food poisoning or something like that,
04:12maybe it's something else, just maybe he will or won't show tomorrow.
04:16We don't know.
04:16Because that was also another crucial thing, because Langenfelder was seven points behind Sascha Kunin
04:21coming into the race today in their battle for third place in the championship.
04:25So that looks now like that may not happen.
04:28And Evertz was only 26 behind the German.
04:30So Evertz eyeing up potential third in the championship, but depends what happens between him
04:35and, of course, Sascha Kunin now, who's now up into ninth place.
04:38Yeah, that would be a real late grab for Evertz, who's been fifth in the championship since about the fourth
04:42round.
04:42So it would be a fantastic turnaround as he's had a good podium streak going on.
04:46You get a feeling that Evertz really wants to get that GP win.
04:49He hasn't had a year without a GP win in the last three seasons.
04:52And at the moment, this is his last chance to do something about it in 2026.
04:57His last chance to get a qualifying win of 2026, the number 772, Giannis Raislis.
05:01He set the fastest lap last time around, 141.446 on that opening lap.
05:05Great elevation here at this Hidden Valley Motorsport Complex in Darwin.
05:08I mean, when everybody sort of was talking about it a couple of years ago, we're going here.
05:12They said sort of elevation similar to what we had in Agueda in Portugal.
05:15But I think everybody was blown away last year.
05:18And obviously, we knew what to expect this year.
05:19The only difference is we've got grass on the side of the jumps and the, you know,
05:23where that's been allowed to settle over the last year.
05:26Anyway, here's Perez.
05:27He is closing in on Carlos Raislis.
05:29He's in fifth at the moment.
05:31He's found his way past Castmakers.
05:32He goes after Carlos Raislis in fourth position.
05:34It's not going to be enough to clinch the championship today because McClellan will gain two points on him,
05:39even if he finds his way past Raislis.
05:42So that would be down to 46.
05:44It's 47 at the moment, I believe, or 45.
05:46Yeah, and 45 it is if it was to stay like this.
05:49But Dennis, Byron Dennis was fourth in the early laps.
05:51He slipped down three spots.
05:53That's given Perez another point gain there.
05:55And now he's eyeing up Carlos Raislis, the elder of the two Latvian brothers.
06:00So this was Castmakers just at the top of the hill and tried to squeeze Perez.
06:04Perez found his way by.
06:06That was for that fifth place a lap ago.
06:08And then he finds his way past Byron Dennis here.
06:11Byron Dennis, we were asking about how he dropped down from fourth place to seventh.
06:15But I think he's just been caught and passed by other riders around him.
06:19And Raislis, Giannis Raislis, putting the hammer down.
06:22141.083, fastest lap.
06:24He's gone faster again in the second sector, faster than anyone.
06:27So, yeah, the young man is feeling it in the Brad Pitt's Latvian brother there.
06:33Lookalike separated at birth.
06:35Anyway, Perez is on the charge.
06:39Next man on his line of sight here is Carlos Raislis.
06:42This is the battle for fourth place between Raislis K, who's seventh in the championship standings,
06:48and Guillem Perez, who is your championship leader.
06:50Hence the red number plate on the front of that Triumph Racing MX2 factory team machine.
06:55You've got to imagine there were one or two nerves, even though he had a big gap coming into this
07:00race.
07:01Wouldn't have seen it from seeing him in the paddock yesterday or in pit lane during the time practice session
07:06when he was urging his teammate on as he went by to start another flying lap.
07:09And, yeah, good to see, but it doesn't seem like anything phases him.
07:14No, he's been absolutely fantastic on that side of it.
07:16I mean, it's the Latin temperament in terms of the fiery character that never say die.
07:20I mean, he butted heads with last year's winner here, Kai DeWolf, several times last year,
07:25and he was not going to give away to the reigning world champion as he was then.
07:29But he doesn't seem to have the negative side of that Latin temperament.
07:32Doesn't seem to panic, doesn't seem to get hot-headed, doesn't seem to do silly things.
07:35And it's pretty impressive so far.
07:37And here he is, just in a world of his own, just letting the track come to him,
07:41letting the conditions sort of settle,
07:45because we had a bit of water go down before the WMX first race,
07:48which ended about 20 minutes, 25 minutes before this one started.
07:55And, yes, interesting to see Ferez, just the mindset of the number 99 Spaniard.
08:01Like I said, big lead coming in, doesn't have to get the job done today,
08:04can wait till tomorrow, and that would be quite something.
08:08But the team, as he goes down the inside here,
08:10that makes a very easy pass, Guillaume Ferez on Carlos Reyes,
08:14top of the hill, moves up into that fourth place.
08:17Ferez just riding like he has done over the last few rounds,
08:21just a lot of confidence, not getting flustered,
08:23and just picking riders off at will and passing them just as he sees fit.
08:29Yeah, and to give you some context there, as Paul said, he does not need to panic.
08:33Here's the replay.
08:35So this was the move, just down the inside.
08:37It's a lot shorter to get through there as well.
08:39Yeah, you've got that single, but you can jump across the turn,
08:42and you probably would have thought that Carlos Reyes would know
08:45about that particular corner because it was so instrumental
08:47in one of the races last year between Kai DeWolf and Simon Langenfelder.
08:56Ferez then, up to fourth.
08:59As we move into lap five,
09:02not even going to talk about gaps because he's 15 seconds off the lead almost.
09:06Giannis Reisler is two seconds clear of McClellan,
09:07so that gives you the indication.
09:09McClellan to Ferez, second fourth.
09:11Yeah, McClellan just happy to ride this one out, just keep himself in the box seat,
09:16try and keep that championship alive going into the race.
09:18But he also knows that even finishing ahead of Guillaume,
09:22I'm not going to say the writing is on the wall,
09:24but at the same time, it's like, you know, it's not going to be enough.
09:27You know what I mean?
09:28Yeah, well, this would be Ferez needing four points out of both,
09:31out of any of the races tomorrow.
09:34And you can see we've got 15 riders on the grid,
09:35so he just needs to register a position
09:37and Ferez would still have that crown.
09:40So he just needs to make sure he lines up and the bike works tomorrow.
09:43So that's the main thing.
09:44But yeah, even so, still can't quite celebrate it yet.
09:47Cameron McClellan, though, he's in a hurry.
09:48140.119.
09:50Quicker last time around.
09:52Quickest rider on track.
09:53Quickest lap of the race.
09:55141.303 was Giannis Reisler.
09:56These two separated by about 1.1 seconds
09:59as they charge down towards Turn 12.
10:01As they get out of here,
10:03they've got this sort of series of kinks.
10:06Right, left, right.
10:08Take the riders back past pit lane.
10:09Look forward, faster on track.
10:11That's the message from his crew down there for Cameron McClellan.
10:14Giannis Reisler goes inside.
10:17McClellan, oh, I tell you what,
10:18he was close to getting shipped off to the right-hand side there.
10:21Coming out of that turn,
10:22caught that horrible little knuckle on takeoff.
10:24That first wave, watch this here.
10:29Just about saved it.
10:30Well, he did, but could have reacted
10:33and gone a slightly different way,
10:33but there was only six tenths in it
10:35between Giannis Reisler and Cameron McClellan
10:36as they hit the line at the end of lap five.
10:39We're now into lap six,
10:40and McClellan, for once,
10:42right up at the sharp end
10:43in terms of where he needs to be
10:45for a qualifying race win.
10:47The ones that he got earlier this year,
10:49McClellan, Germany,
10:51and Lommel Flanders,
10:52they're the only two that he has under his belt.
10:56All the others, he's just made poor starts,
10:58and this 20-minute plus two lap race
11:01is basically what he said
11:02in his pre-grid interviews on the Sundays.
11:03You know, happy for the longer duration of the races,
11:0630 plus two.
11:10Not quite celebrating yet with a cake.
11:12Old Manu.
11:14But you know what?
11:15That cheesecake shop down the road,
11:16I might buy him one tonight.
11:18It's a very good cheesecake shop.
11:20I wouldn't know.
11:22I heard you're first in queue there, though.
11:25Is that right?
11:26And the last?
11:26As soon as it's open, 8 a.m., bang on it.
11:29Close eight as well.
11:30I heard you were there then as well.
11:31I fully agree with Janis Raceless
11:32when he talks about Australian food.
11:33I'll say that much.
11:35Anyway, the battle for the lead then.
11:37Janis Raceless and Cameron McClellan.
11:39Nothing in between here.
11:40This was the replay of the start.
11:42Kunin tried to go too early.
11:43He paid the price.
11:45But fortunately for him,
11:46just 15 riders on track
11:47going through that first turn.
11:48He's able to make light work of everybody.
11:49He's now up in the eighth place.
11:52Sorry, not sure if I saw Kai Carsmakers flinch.
11:55Maybe that set Kunin off.
11:56That's exactly what he did there
11:57in that replay from the drone.
12:01I always tell you,
12:01don't go until the gate drops.
12:03No.
12:03It's not like the old days
12:04where you used to be able to see the chain
12:06or the pulley that pulled the chain
12:08and whatever else.
12:09Or you park close enough to the box
12:11and the back end of the box is open.
12:13You see the guy stamp it
12:13or pull the lever, whichever way.
12:15Yeah, the man with the brightest kit
12:16on the whole grid right next to him
12:18suddenly moved
12:18and that must have slightly distracted Sascha
12:20and then he was into it.
12:21So yeah, eighth place style for Sascha.
12:23It's not quite enough to seal things
12:25if Simon Langerfjelder lines up tomorrow
12:27for that battle for bronze,
12:28which is very much a consolation prize
12:30for these two guys
12:31who wanted nothing less
12:32than the title this year.
12:33Well, in terms of getting the perfect start,
12:35I remember being at the Finnish Grand Prix
12:36of 500cc 1990 at Ruskia Santa
12:39just next to the airport there.
12:42Kawasaki boss Alec Wright said to me,
12:43where are you starting ace?
12:44I went next to the Finnish guy.
12:45I think it was Otto Pantilla.
12:46And he said, why is that?
12:47I went, I think he's going to get the nod.
12:50And I think there's a picture somewhere
12:51where everybody's looking down at the gate.
12:52He's looking up
12:53and I'm looking across at his hand.
12:54And we went first and second in the first turn.
12:57The old days.
12:59The old days.
13:00McClellan looking to find his way down the inside.
13:02Yannis Raceless.
13:04Not able to find his way through there,
13:06but Cameron McClellan just biding his time.
13:09He's still got seven minutes plus two to go here
13:10on lap seven.
13:13But this is great.
13:14And I think, you know,
13:15you get a real sense of sort of
13:16last day of school this weekend, don't you?
13:19Everybody's kind of championship positions
13:21are almost set in stone.
13:23You've got Kuhnen potentially still fighting
13:25for that third in the championship,
13:27but that may change after this race.
13:29You've got Yannis Raceless
13:30who can't do any more than six overall.
13:32So no pressure on him.
13:33And yeah, get a whole shot
13:34and try and win this qualifying race.
13:36And with it, your first race in MX2.
13:38Why not?
13:39Yeah, it'd be nice when to break that,
13:40duck in his rookie season.
13:41He has been a fantastic addition
13:43to the MX2 grid, of course,
13:45last year's MX250 champion.
13:47And yeah, this one I feel
13:49will be a little notice
13:50as to what's to come.
13:51No news yet as to what he's doing next year,
13:53what color bike he's going to be on.
13:54So it'll be intriguing to see
13:56what Yannis can generate in the offseason
13:58and how much he will improve for next year.
14:00So seven laps complete.
14:02These two, Raceless and McClellan,
14:03separated by just over a second
14:04as we move into lap eight.
14:06Liam Everett's now in third
14:08as he has been about four seconds further back.
14:10and Ferez is in fourth,
14:1116 seconds behind.
14:13So that tells you all you need to know
14:14about what his intentions are.
14:16Just get it done in race one tomorrow
14:17should the opportunity present itself.
14:20But, you know,
14:21try telling that to Manu Valpato down there.
14:24He is all eyes on the screen,
14:27keeping an eye on everything that's going on
14:28because there's still a potential
14:29for Kevin McClellan to win
14:31this qualifying race here.
14:33and he's all over the back of Yannis Raceless now
14:34as we drop down the bottom end of the circuit
14:37into this turn nine, if you like.
14:40He's going to cut to the inside again.
14:41Couldn't make it happen last time.
14:44Why?
14:44He makes it happen this time around though,
14:46doesn't he?
14:46Use the wheels of Yannis Raceless Yamaha
14:48as a berm
14:50who comes back swinging
14:52but can't find his way back by
14:53into the lead.
14:54McClellan,
14:55now your leader on lap eight.
14:57Great bit of aggressive riding.
14:59Rehearsed it a lap before.
15:00Didn't quite work out.
15:01He knew he needed to be closer.
15:02He was.
15:03Maybe not close enough
15:04but close enough
15:05to be able to put the pressure on
15:07and force that move up the hill
15:08as he did.
15:09Yeah, he lined it up
15:09over that downhill jump, didn't he?
15:11Just went right to left
15:12as he went down there.
15:12Had a nice, fast run down the hill.
15:15Carried his speed
15:15and then chucked it up the inside.
15:17and of course from that side of it
15:18as soon as Yannis
15:19had to chop the throttle off
15:20you knew that Camden
15:20had it in the back.
15:23So Camden McClellan
15:24then, no nerves
15:24from him either.
15:27Here's how he did it.
15:28Down the inside.
15:30Raceless cut to the left.
15:32McClellan for the second lap
15:33in a row
15:33went to the inside
15:34jumped long
15:34had to sit down
15:36and use all the track
15:37and a little bit of Yamaha
15:38as well in the process
15:39but he got the pass done.
15:41That was the difference
15:41between going from second to first.
15:43What surprised me in this one
15:44is Liam Evertz
15:44has not been able to stay with him.
15:46he's now three seconds back
15:47from Yannis
15:48but Liam
15:49right up behind him
15:50at the start
15:50not able to keep pace with him
15:51which surprises me in this one.
15:52I think Liam has the pace.
15:54I think fastest in free practice
15:55fastest in time practice
15:57qualifying race
15:57just get yourself a good pick
15:59learn the track
16:00build with the track
16:00he wants a Grand Prix victory
16:02at the end of the season
16:03because he knows
16:03that there's going to be riders
16:04fighting for a championship
16:05and he may just be
16:06the best placed rider
16:07to sort of get a good start
16:09let all that stuff go on behind him
16:10and then, you know
16:11put himself in a position
16:12to win a race
16:12and maybe even a Grand Prix
16:14when all is said and done.
16:15So keeping his powder dry then.
16:17Absolutely.
16:18Not sure if that's Johnson's
16:20or some other kind of powder
16:21or whatever else
16:22but I'm sure it smells nice.
16:23Anyway, here is the 265
16:25of Byron Dennis
16:25he was running in fourth
16:27in the early part of the race
16:27but the Australian here
16:28but the Australian here
16:28for KTM Australia
16:29he's circulating there
16:31in that seventh place
16:32he's about two and a half seconds
16:33down on Sasha Coonan
16:34so Coonan has found his way by
16:35over the last couple of laps
16:37into sixth position
16:38but still a very good start
16:41to this Grand Prix
16:42for Byron Dennis
16:44and Byron Dennis
16:46last time out in qualifying
16:47in the qualifying race
16:48was ninth in China
16:50so he's going to be better than that
16:54which is going to be impressive for him.
16:56Joe gets everywhere
16:57look
16:57trying to get the money shot again.
16:59Oh yes
16:59too much sauce.
17:00Cameron McClellan
17:01responding well
17:02since he found his way
17:02past Yannis Raceless
17:0329.2
17:04fastest sector time
17:05in sector one
17:0630.0
17:07so eight tenths
17:08on Yannis Raceless
17:09that time around
17:1026.5
17:1126.6
17:1215.6
17:1215.7
17:13so he's gone quicker
17:14in the first three
17:15we're going to get sector four now
17:16and again
17:17so he's overall
17:18moved that gap out
17:19to 2.1 seconds now
17:21so good lap that
17:22and here is Evertz
17:23all of a sudden
17:241.2 seconds behind
17:26Yannis Raceless
17:26so there is a battle
17:27on here for second
17:28and I'm sure if Evertz
17:29can put himself
17:30in a position
17:31to find that
17:33pass
17:33then he will
17:35I was talking to his dad
17:36Stefan this morning
17:38apparently he wasn't too bad
17:39on a motorcycle
17:39Stefan Evertz
17:40but he was telling me
17:41that you know
17:43he's been making
17:44some really big gains
17:45this last few races
17:46and I said
17:47obviously it helped
17:47last week with China
17:48he said yeah
17:48massive psychological one
17:50for him last weekend
17:50so I think we're going to see that
17:52you know
17:52for the remainder of the season
17:54not just here
17:55but maybe at the
17:55Motocross Nations as well
17:57yeah you've got to think
17:58that if the two
17:59Kudans are healthy enough
18:00to go with Liam
18:01at R&A
18:02there would be a factor
18:03at least for a podium
18:04possibly for the win
18:05all sorts of injury
18:06affected teams
18:07in that contest
18:08of course to come
18:08in two weeks time
18:09from R&A
18:10really looking forward
18:11to that one
18:11but in the meantime
18:12there's the serious business
18:13of a world championship
18:14to decide
18:15and Evertz
18:16yeah you can see that joy
18:17him and Stefan
18:18there's a nice shot of them
18:19which I've seen on
18:19the previews
18:21for Behind the Gate
18:21that yeah
18:22they looked super happy
18:24with that Chinese result
18:25yeah
18:25and Evertz
18:27looking very
18:28very positive here
18:29in this qualifying race
18:31Giannis Raceless looking
18:32to equal at the moment
18:34if things stay as they are
18:35his best
18:35quali race of the season
18:37Wave Jellos there
18:38back marker down
18:39is that Brian Giles
18:40yeah Brian Giles
18:40yeah the British rider
18:41there in 14th
18:42at the moment
18:43just keeping
18:43Palato behind him
18:44which I think was the aim
18:45as he nicked his number
18:47yeah so Evertz
18:48obviously got a qualifying race
18:49win in Holland
18:50a couple of rounds ago
18:51round 16
18:52so he has started
18:53from pole before
18:54so he's managed to get
18:55a time practice
18:56pole
18:57for the qualifying race
18:58and obviously got a
18:58quali win
18:59but would like to get
19:00another position
19:01further up the track
19:02here second
19:03would be nice for him
19:04every position counts
19:06puts him more
19:06to the left hand side
19:07on that gate
19:08going down that start straight
19:09about 70-75 metres long
19:11into that first left hand turn
19:12it's a strange first turn
19:13as well
19:14because it kind of
19:14comes back on itself
19:15and kinks left and right
19:17before you head uphill
19:18for the first time
19:20yeah we saw it several times
19:21last year didn't we
19:22where people would go in there
19:23in the lead
19:23and run wide
19:24and somebody would get
19:24the run around the outside
19:26so yeah going into
19:27that first corner first
19:27does not guarantee you
19:28the lead going up
19:29into that third corner
19:30at the top of the crest
19:32so the stopwatch there
19:33on the timing tower
19:34next to McClellan's name
19:35obviously he's the fastest
19:36rider in the race
19:37putting that lap in
19:38on lap 4 of 10
19:40we're now on lap 11
19:41140.119
19:44not too much in it though
19:4640.8 for Resilis
19:4740.635 for Evertz
19:49incidentally they're the only
19:50three riders to be on the same
19:52lap 140
19:53so their pace has been good
19:54but they've been up at the
19:55sharp end haven't they
19:55racing for something
19:57McClellan racing for not just
19:59gate pick but extra points
20:00in the championship chase
20:01Janis Reisler
20:01racing for his first
20:02quali win
20:03Evertz racing for his
20:04second quali win
20:05but also trying to gain
20:06points on Langenfelder
20:08and Sascha Kunen
20:08in a hopeful bid
20:10for a third place medal
20:11yeah Sascha's dug in there
20:13Carlos Reisler's meanwhile
20:14has dropped back to
20:15eighth place
20:15but yeah with Sascha
20:16that's up to 780
20:17the points
20:18that would leave him 30
20:19clear of this man
20:20Evertz going into tomorrow
20:21so keeps it on the bronze
20:2312 clear ahead of
20:24Langenfelder
20:25who is 18 ahead of Evertz
20:27three laps to go
20:28be two this time around
20:29when McClellan hits the line
20:30any moment now
20:31because he's only just a few
20:32seconds clear of these guys
20:34and McClellan
20:37goes over the line now
20:38142.098
20:39here is his teammate
20:40in those switchback turns
20:42just by pit lane
20:43pit lane over there
20:44to the left-hand side
20:45the number 99
20:46Guillaume Férez
20:46yeah he's 26 and a half
20:47seconds down
20:48do not read anything
20:49into that
20:50guy is in championship
20:51winning mode
20:51and he arrived here
20:5348 points clear
20:54knew he could get
20:55the job done today
20:56if he got a good start
20:57and beat his teammate
20:58by two positions
20:59but McClellan
21:00definitely waking up
21:01on the right side of bed
21:02and he's had his
21:03Weet-Bix and all the rest
21:04of it today
21:06and he's definitely
21:07in fighting
21:07feisty mood
21:10doesn't want
21:11to get it over
21:13and done with
21:13on a Saturday
21:14doesn't want to rob
21:15the fans
21:15of the opportunity
21:16to see a title fight
21:17go down to the race
21:18on you know
21:19the racing on Sunday
21:20so we are going to get
21:22two title fights
21:22going down
21:23to the wire
21:24on Sunday
21:25WMX obviously race 2
21:26and MX2
21:28is going down
21:28to the wire as well
21:29yeah absolutely
21:30catch that WMX race
21:31if you can
21:32it certainly was
21:33a firecracker
21:34watching it from the side
21:35of the track
21:35and yeah
21:36now McClellan
21:37it's good to see this fight
21:38and don't forget
21:39he's basically posting out
21:40to everybody
21:41that's going to stay
21:41in this MX2 class
21:42next year
21:43that he will be
21:44the main contender
21:44he will be the only
21:45factory triumph
21:46in the MX2 category
21:48of course
21:48Ferez moving up
21:49as Mikhail Harup
21:50returns for the British
21:52manufacturer next year
21:53so yeah
21:53McClellan
21:53showing his strength
21:54at least to anybody
21:55who might want to
21:56take that crown
21:57off of him next year
21:59this was a pass
22:00for the lead
22:00earlier on in the race
22:02McClellan
22:02worked his magic
22:03a nice wider sweep
22:04coming down
22:05into the turn here
22:06went from outside
22:07to inside
22:08and as he jumped
22:09a little bit longer
22:09he applied the pressure
22:11Yanis Raceless
22:11and I tell you what
22:12he wasn't going to
22:12back out was he
22:14but in the end
22:14McClellan knew
22:15that he couldn't
22:16Raceless couldn't jump
22:17with him at the top
22:18of the hill
22:19so yeah
22:19it was a good pass
22:20that
22:20as the one lap
22:21board goes out
22:23for Kemden McClellan
22:24who starts his final lap
22:26here in Australia
22:33that was on lap 8
22:34that pass of 12
22:35which we've had so far
22:36takes a look
22:37over his shoulder
22:38wants to know
22:38how big the gap is
22:39it's now almost
22:393 seconds
22:40it's 2.8
22:41between McClellan
22:42and Yanis Raceless
22:43and for
22:44yeah
22:47McClellan
22:48in terms of
22:49his qualifying laps
22:50and all the rest of it
22:52Sasha Kunin
22:53the most
22:54with 6
22:54quality wins
22:55of the season
22:56so far
22:56Langefelder had 4
22:57Ferez was searching
22:58for his 4th
22:59but you know what
22:59he's going to stay on 3
23:00his team mate
23:01is going to match that
23:02with 3
23:06of course most of Sasha
23:07is coming in the first few rounds
23:08wasn't it 5 rounds
23:09unbeaten for Sasha
23:10but then just 1 since then
23:11yeah Latvia round 8
23:13so 5 in a row
23:13then nothing for a couple
23:15then bang
23:16but it's been
23:17an upside down season
23:18since then hasn't it
23:18topsy-turvy I should say
23:19very much so
23:20looks Kunin domination
23:22all the way back to Latvia there
23:23all 6 races
23:23going the way of the twins
23:25but yeah
23:25since then like you say
23:26the wheels have
23:27well and truly come off
23:28Liam still within a second
23:29of Janis Racelis
23:30half a second even
23:31it can't relax there
23:32the Latvian
23:34neither can McClellan
23:35yeah we're just
23:36I'll tell you what
23:37back end just lighting up there
23:38on Everts
23:39Husvana
23:41it's an awkward corner there
23:42because obviously
23:42when they water the track here
23:43they water it quite heavily
23:44water runs downhill
23:45so you've got those
23:46wet stodgy corners there
23:48into that right-hander
23:49then the next right
23:50where McClellan found his way
23:51past Janis Racelis
23:52this is the gap between
23:53first, second and third
23:55McClellan in cruise mode
23:56the gap was down to
23:571.6 a moment ago
23:58but he takes a quick look
24:00over the shoulder
24:01McClellan wins the qualifying
24:02race here in Australia
24:04Janis Racelis second
24:05for the second time this year
24:07Everts third
24:07they will go to the line
24:09one, two, three
24:09on Sunday
24:10for both races
24:11again Ferez could have had an
24:14opportunity to clinch the title
24:15here in the qualifying race
24:17but he's going to cross the line
24:18in a few moments time
24:20here he is with just one more
24:21corner to go
24:22and the Triumph
24:23Racing MX2 factory team rider
24:25the championship leader
24:26the red plate holder
24:27will lose a couple of points
24:29to his teammate
24:29but he won't mind too much
24:31about that
24:31he's still got a sizable
24:33margin as he heads
24:34into race one
24:35on Sunday
24:37great ride for Carsmakers
24:38behind him as well
24:40in that fifth place
24:41and Kai Carsmakers
24:42his best qualifying
24:43of the season
24:44and ever probably
24:45yeah fifth place
24:46absolutely yeah
24:47great ride in there
24:48from the Dutchman
24:49holds back Sascha Kunin
24:50in fact it wasn't even close
24:51Sascha eight seconds back
24:53so there is the championship
24:54situation
24:5445 the gap
24:56for Ferez
24:57basically
24:57Ferez just needs
24:59five points tomorrow
25:00to seal the deal
25:01that is one
25:0116th place finish
25:03so it's looking good
25:04for the Spaniard
25:04despite Camden's
25:06great win there
25:08yeah Langenfelder
25:09obviously not lining up
25:10but that gap
25:11between those two now
25:12what 12 points
25:13between Sascha Kunin
25:14and
