00:00E assim vamos, tchau.
00:303rd now, that was Kunin, yeah, so
00:31he salvaged something, and Kunin, just exactly
00:34what he didn't need. Roman Fevre
00:35leading the way. We were looking
00:38to the outside gates, and it was Fevre who snuck
00:40through on the middle gates. He triples up
00:41onto the top of the hill, and Prado
00:43already moving into second with that move on Jan
00:45Panza of Slovenia. Yeah, Paul,
00:48we were watching the free practice
00:49sessions earlier, and the noise, just
00:51when Fevre would come by, nothing was even at
00:54stake. It was just laps
00:55being put in, and the crowd was going
00:57absolutely bananas for Roman Fevre.
01:00So you have to know, it's so loud already with
01:01the start. Mistake there from Prado
01:04got tipped out of the rut, and I'll tell
01:05you what, he's just
01:07been passed, I think, for second position. Yeah,
01:09Panza has gone back by him, so he does
01:11that work early on, and
01:13finds himself getting pushed back
01:15into that third place. So a gift there for the
01:17number seven of Roman Fevre. There's
01:19Beaton there in the green and gold. He's just finding
01:21his way past Talvikou
01:23for fourth position. Yes, he makes it
01:25a stick as well. Yeah, a little
01:27water put down on the racetrack, which you can see
01:29how slippery it is, and I think that's what
01:31caught Prado out a bit. But
01:33really, this is shades of 2023.
01:36The Moto 1 in 2023 was
01:37Prado and Fevre all the way to the checkered
01:39flag, could be there again. Prado
01:42looking for that middle rut. On the number 28
01:43for Spain, you'll see that they're
01:45not their normal familiar numbers.
01:48Their team numbers are based on where they finished
01:49last year. So defending champions Australia
01:511, 2, and 3.
01:54And then, of course, USA
01:56are next, 4, 5, and 6. France
01:587, 8, 9. Belgium 10, 11,
02:0012. Slovenia, who finished
02:02fifth, are going to be 13,
02:0414, and 15. Here's what happened to Prado
02:06a moment ago. Just came
02:08in too hot, stood himself up,
02:10and then went a little
02:12wide there, just carrying so much speed.
02:14Didn't gain an advantage, lost a
02:16position in all of that.
02:18And he's still parked behind the 13 of
02:20again.
02:21Yeah, and you can just see how careful
02:22they're being on this opening lap, which is just so
02:24indicative of the water being put down.
02:26That will work in
02:28two, three, four laps, and you'll probably see the pace
02:30pick up quite a bit. Just see him get a little off-balance.
02:33That's just basically because the traction is not exactly where you want it to be.
02:36lot of people talking down the defending champions of australia but when you've got a first and second
02:42in mx1 in the australian championship and your national champion in mx2 they're not a weak team
02:47by any stretch of the imagination and jet beat sitting there in fourth position just there in
02:50the background prado moves into second for the second time in two laps as he goes past jan panza
02:58very deep ruts there the slovenian runs into trouble this time around beaten not quite close
03:03enough to capitalize but he's going to be closer now as he comes in the shot on the number one
03:07for
03:07team australia yeah the cameras do no justice to how how steep the elevation and the angles are the
03:13off cameras it's so much more tricky than it looks like on screen here we'll talk about uh the e
03:17-bikes
03:18in a moment the riders who went out on the e-bikes uh for honda and for yamaha when we
03:22get a gap in the
03:23sort of in the pace here but uh these riders as well making a very difficult racetrack look very
03:31very easy wow and still struggling with it you just still see little mistakes which are just so
03:37atypical for a guy like prado he's usually picture perfect so all that to me just screams how
03:41difficult it is to even navigate this track jet beaten he's just found his way while he's still
03:46there in that fourth place he found his way past talviko talviko being caught by carlis raceless on the 25
03:50he's on the uh yamaha just behind him in the burgundy tries to run out of the inside of the
03:56estonian
03:57so as it stands right now of course this is the first race so one point for every position you
04:03are in roman fevere and france are in a one point scoring position spain with two points with prado
04:09slovenia are third with panzer there's three points for them there's raceless just trying to get down
04:15the inside another bite length uh gap between them he may have just made that past stick yeah and it's
04:20one
04:20of those things where if you can clear him you're gonna pull the gap back out because you have all
04:24that
04:24momentum from the outside but it's if you don't get to the the cross section there you're gonna get
04:28past just looking there ninth place julian beau maire what a journey he's had to get here of course at
04:33very very short notice he was at smx last weekend chance hymas he was supposed to be here at the
04:38nations for honda he picked up a wrist injury on saturday or friday and uh was it friday or saturday
04:44yeah on friday friday and then of course by saturday was determined yeah he's not going to be strong
04:48enough to ride because mike pentia the team manager then on a frantic mission to ring around and see
04:53who was available of course julian beau maire stepping up to the plate who's had a good second
04:59half of the season especially after coming back from injury last year yeah and i just wondered you
05:03know the start was a tricky spot when i you know it's considering how he would do he's never done
05:08a
05:08a race start on a 450 in race trim especially at anything like the motocross nation so it's not
05:14that he can't get a good start it's more the uncertainty he doesn't have the repetitions put in
05:18what rpm do i use how how's the clutch disengagement all those questions that are
05:22for a guy like prado or like breathing well mares learning all that in racetrack and of course
05:30julian beau maire ktm usa rebel ktm usa did put a bike together for him to ride on monday or
05:35tuesday
05:35before he traveled here the plan was for him to ride on thursday with the rest of the team but
05:40obviously wasn't able to i think the suspension hadn't arrived or something like that i believe
05:44so his first bike time on the bike that he's racing was this morning in that 40 minute
05:49free practice session where there were no times i mean there was time keeping but the times were
05:54irrelevant because obviously the grid position had already been determined by the ballot so learning
06:00the track and i actually got to see him in the uh in the hospitality down in the paddock and
06:04asked him
06:05about as a beat makes a mistake uh how was it everything good good job it was a 40 minute
06:09session he
06:09says yeah yeah but i'm good i'm good to go you know i'm feeling comfortable track was a little bit
06:13soft in
06:13places all the usual stuff but uh no sort of negative comments in terms of oh man i'm a little
06:20bit by
06:20behind the eight ball no that's that's normally how he is he's just so positive and optimistic all
06:25the time but you know i think a lot of that is born from he has this huge injury in
06:292025 and i think he
06:30looks at all these opportunities as being so fortunate you know that this career almost got taken away from
06:36him so he's not going to be the one that's going to complain about a tricky race track or i
06:40haven't
06:40raced the 450 all of this is a huge bonus for him well let's take a look at the start
06:45again then
06:46shall we obviously we were focused on uh the number 10 there about seven or eight gates over in the
06:53orange
06:55does he come together with another rider he just folds the front goes down and gets beat up again
07:01and uh riders over the bars there and all sorts but uh we'll see prado sweeping from the outside
07:06just there to the outside of the blue there was the number 10 of kunan going down 85 the uh
07:12dickinson the
07:13irish guy going down as well and here's ramana most like here the number 55 he's running for the
07:19netherlands he's in 14th place at the moment he's just ahead of lucas kunin there on the number 10 for
07:24team belgium so if you're team belgium you want to throw away this result and rely on as gifting goes
07:30down so that's going to gift a position to bone mare bone was just behind him in night gifting falling
07:34from eight bone mare gains a position into eighth place one point game for the usa better than nothing
07:40yeah and it looked like kuning actually got into the side of gifting so he's probably like hey not
07:43you again i don't want to see you again in this in this race but for couldn't this is the
07:48last thing
07:48he would have wanted he's not prepared for this race i i spoke with him on friday he had no
07:53idea
07:53how this was going to go he has no idea how long the pain would be you know would subside
07:57is it going
07:58to be a problem wait in the race all those are questions he's going to have to answer today and
08:01tomorrow live images here on board with valentine guillo as he's down the bottom of the hill there
08:04behind taylor hamel there is uh the 10 of kuna trying to charge up the inside of him into that
08:1012th place can't go inside there he goes by him here or gets alongside him at least does that
08:16kuna and as he drops into that left-hand turn he does find his way past guillo and he may
08:22find
08:22his way past the 58 as well of mad spread so of denmark but no way through there taylor hamel
08:28will go by in that 10th position but boomer up to eight tomcock for germany up tonight hamilton
08:33fredzo 11 lucas kuhn in the orange and black he is in 12th place and we've got guillo van de
08:37most like gifting down to 15 from eight an expensive fall for the swede yeah i see the battle starting
08:45to
08:45pick up a little bit here at the front you know prado you know he's been gone for two full
08:48seasons now
08:50this is uh there's a lot at stake for spain trying to win this motocross nations is it's very very
08:55important for the best team they've probably ever had but for prado specifically on a personal level
09:00i think he he wants to prove he's still the best guy yeah well he's won four mx uh full
09:05motocross
09:06world championships and is alongside roman fevra and he takes over the lead on lap four jorge prado
09:12your new leader he's going to go wide fevra is going to launch down the inside probably wasn't
09:17expecting him to make the move there but we have a new leader it's all i was about to say
09:24it's all gone
09:25quiet over there but they are urging on roman fevra to try and come back and take the win away
09:30from
09:30prado how much of this is fevra just saying you know what let's get through saturday get a good gate
09:34pick prado can take all the glory today for team spain but you know what you don't want to give
09:39spain
09:39and jorge prado that kind of confidence and let them run with it because they will only gain momentum
09:44from it i don't know that prado could be more confident as a human being than he already is at
09:49the
09:49moment yeah it's unbelievable how much confidence he has even on bad days he's still so confident
09:54himself but you know thinking about this a couple things possibly fevra wanting to kind of see where
09:59prado's lines are he closed up such a gap there he's like maybe i want to see where he's going
10:03because there are lines as you can see all over this racetrack that if you are not in the right
10:07one you can cost you multiple seconds per lap also remember last year this exact same thing happened
10:13and then fevra came back really late in race one and was able to overtake prado again so that's
10:17probably somewhere in his psyche of like that's fine let him go do his thing i'll either get him late
10:21in
10:21this race or i'll save it for tomorrow and it doesn't matter okay it doesn't matter what you do
10:26today of course it does you just need two good start two good results to get a good gate pick
10:31for the
10:31whole weekend for your team spain of course coming in as one of the favorites probably the favorites
10:38behind france because france of course we know what they can do here at this event on home soil and
10:45you
10:45have to kind of go with them especially when you look at the final race of the day on sunday
10:49two 450 riders they've got tom bialto come and roman fevra in that incident you've got jorge prado and
10:56relative unknown he's a european champion francisco garcia wasn't that great on the 450 last year
11:02at iron man but he's a year older a year stronger he still could be the dark horse for team
11:06spain they
11:07could have two very good riders going to that final race and roman fevra also probably knows that at the
11:11moment like get through today get a good gate pick doesn't matter about today in the uh classification
11:17of the nation yes new day tomorrow everything starts from fresh that's when we start scoring
11:21yeah and it's just positioning yourself for success tomorrow uh this is doing exactly that use two
11:26scores the difference between the first gate pick and the second gate pick or the third gate pick
11:31totally irrelevant it won't matter you know we're on grid start so it's going to be all brand new
11:35starting you know gate everything i think today is just like you said you are guarding against bad
11:41things happening so i would bet his urgency level is about zero at the moment so prado leads and the
11:46gap between him and this guy here number seven roman fevra the darling of the french crowd is now two
11:50seconds fevra set his best lap of the race last time around 153 054 prado on that that was a
11:5752 983
11:58but it's still a prado's fastest lap of the 151509 two laps ago that is the benchmark time here comes
12:06it's lucas kunan once again he goes to the outside and makes his move on julian beau maire so the
12:12two
12:12red bull ktms beau maire they're the number four from the usa trying to get his way back up the
12:18inside here of the belgium and he does find his way past great move that from your guy yeah these
12:23two
12:23have never raced against each other so uh interesting to kind of see them just sussing each other out of
12:28basically couldn't just ride right around the outside of him there and a lot of this is track
12:32familiarity you know like beau maire's trying to learn race lines on the fly here where lucas kunan
12:36it's not that he's a 30 year old veteran but he's raced here many times at this point and he
12:40knows
12:40how the track's going to shape up where you can pass and where you have to be a little bit
12:43more
12:43careful too give credit to lucas kunan though because he's forced his way up into eighth place
12:48he was down at the first turn don't forget 32 riders on the gate jorge prado during his pre-grid
12:54interview said uh you know a start's going to be key because it's uh pretty one line i don't think
12:59it's a
12:59one line track at all you know there are very you know quite a few options in terms of your
13:04lines
13:04and whatever else as we can see and the ground is still very pliable so you can crisscross a little
13:10bit you know across turns but uh this has been a good effort for lucas kunan who's been off the
13:14bike
13:15since pretty much the british grand prix uh in july on and off you know he tried to ride a
13:20week later
13:20in czech republic didn't work tried to ride in belgium he sat that one out tried to ride in sweden
13:25and tried to ride in holland you know um but just hasn't had the bike time hasn't had the race
13:29time
13:29and here he is lucas kunan now going after raceless these two now fighting over seventh place carlos
13:37races there on yamaha 25 in seventh coonan now in eighth place julian beau may just behind him in
13:43ninth coonan launching downhill once again yeah this is a big effort because here he goes
13:48he's got a nice pass there you don't want to use the score but what you wouldn't want to do
13:53is
13:53assume that you get a poor score in race one and then you end up needing it that would really
13:59put
13:59them behind for sunday so it is important for him to move forward here just in case they end up
14:04meeting the sixth or seventh whatever ends up being andrea adamo here
14:09i think just going after beaten sorry abby ferrato isn't it the rider here yeah for italy so alberto
14:15ferrato the mxgp rider for team italy going after jed beaten last minute replacement i'll
14:22be stepping in for andrea bonacorsi yeah ferrato getting the triple beaten not able to get the triple
14:28he goes to the outside ferrato is going to tip by he passed uh carlos raceless uh just a few
14:33laps
14:34ago to get himself up into sixth position on lap two he's now found his way past beaten for fourth
14:39has the big italian he was on the podium here for italy in 2023 when we were here last
14:46yeah he can't this is a type of track where i would think ferrato would be pretty good
14:49hard pack a little bit technical and i just see him flexing his muscle a little bit gets
14:55gets past jed pretty easily there yeah this is the reason why look didn't get the distance for
15:00whatever reason didn't fancy it see jed kind of just cruising around the outside there not that you
15:05really have a choice on this racetrack in some sections but again it's not necessarily about you have
15:10to put in an incredibly good result today it's about avoiding and staying away from a disaster
15:16that can really set you back and also for for teams like uh well for riders like jorge prado for
15:22instance has been in the us now for the for the past two years but he does know this place
15:27but riding
15:28a slightly different setup to what he has in the us in terms of his uh race bike compared to
15:32europe let's
15:33say so again even he australia with jed beaton and their uh three riders uh alex larwood and aaron tanti
15:39to come in mx2 and open uh if more further field kind of riders they've had that 40 minute practice
15:46just to learn the track and gel and make some adjustments these are now fine tuning these
15:51adjustments you're in a good position you know fourth fifth whatever as long as you get a good score
15:56for two races you are also now going into that work mode let's get some race set up now ahead
16:03so
16:03probably got that bothered about going after ferrato at the moment more so than ferrato is about
16:07picking about picking off another rider for italy yeah and for jet at least he has some gp experience
16:12yeah the other two this is a whole new world for them you know tancy spent most of his time
16:16in
16:16australia warwood has been we spent to the us a little bit this year so a little bit of a
16:20different
16:20situation but this track this environment is completely different than any anything those two have
16:26every season yeah absolutely abby ferrato looking good though dropping downhill the next rider in
16:33his line of sight is about four seconds further up the track young panzer there he was just in the
16:37light blue mid-turn as we uh cut away some nice little lines starting to appear there actually through
16:44that uphill left obviously the tide to you go you're carrying so much speed on that straight at the
16:50bottom end of the circuit and you find a line all of a sudden it starts to come back on
16:53you which is why
16:54we you know you end up seeing riders just tip out to the right and make a mess up of
16:58it but
16:58you can go outside and sort of swing across the mid part of the track now as well just to
17:05open
17:06things up hello roma febvre has decided to greet jorge prado once more he's whittled down a two-second
17:12advantage he's had a bit of breathing space he's got the memory bank full of what happened in race one
17:17when we were here last you know he came by him and he said you know what i'll sit here
17:21for a couple
17:21laps and go back after him that's exactly what roma febvre's thinking again here and if you can do that
17:25if there was a roof on this place it would be sky high yeah it's kind of a counterpunch you
17:30just see
17:31what prado's doing well you know you take what his his great lines you incorporate maybe a few of your
17:35own great lines and you build a better race package for the second half of the race it takes a
17:40lot of
17:40patience and mental fortitude to do that too also because with this crowd going crazy you don't want to give
17:45up the
17:45lead it's very easy to kind of panic but for a veteran you know febvre's mid-30s he's been in
17:50this situation so many times so he can absorb the situation understand like prado's not going to ride
17:55off into the sunset i just need to figure out what he's doing a little bit better than i am
17:59there's a
17:59nice little dynamic going on here when we're here in 23 jorge prado was mxgp world champion he backed that
18:03up in 2024 and obviously roma febvre was world champion last year uh in mxgp a big mistake there from
18:11jorge prado in that same corner that we were talking about a moment ago came in too hot went across
18:15all those ruts made a complete pig's ear of it the pig's ear yeah all right i always learn new
18:22sayings like if i use these in america i will probably be put in a straitjacket but i'm i still
18:27write them all down mentally see the trick is when you are in that straitjacket just have a little
18:32secret key there you go let yourself out i'll be in a straitjacket but i will have the best
18:36sayings about the straitjacket of anyone top end of the circuit into that right hand turn obviously if you
18:44were here in 2023 you'll know that this is a new edition it was in mxgp last year before you
18:48used
18:48to sort of get to the top and turn right straight down that hill but now they go on into
18:53that right
18:53and then left down the hill kind of reminds me of matterley the long right and then it bends back
18:57down
18:57across itself similar to that but this track you see how many mistakes we're making we talk about this
19:02a lot the awkward angles that this track forces riders into that's why they're always they seem like
19:07they're going to high side over the ruts because they're on an angle climbing a hill and it's going away
19:11from them it's just such a different dynamic and technique plays such a big role three laps to go
19:16then in this mxgp qualifying heat race at urne fevre more efficient getting out of that turn prado just
19:23getting held up behind a back marker there ever so slightly out of that final turn and they are almost
19:26wheel to wheel once again prado and fevre more traffic on the horizon for the race leader
19:33fevre goes to the inside he fancied that line this morning in the warm-up session and he's alongside
19:37he's going to go past listen to the crowd he's not quite there yet though short oh he was a
19:44little
19:44short by a half a bike rode it out though but just watching this roman fevre clearly has a lot
19:52more
19:52up his sleeve and i think prado's given all he's got at the moment yeah and when you think as
19:56i said
19:57before 23 he was the world champion 24 he was the world champion roman fevre in prado's absence last
20:03year was mxgp wild champ so these two apart from jeffrey hurling's this year the latest wild champ
20:09of course unfinished business between these two maybe you know you were the best i'm the best
20:14whatever yeah great job from prado here defending you know like i wasn't sure i thought maybe fevre
20:18would get up the inside there but prado is so effective from the front uh he really understands the
20:24race dynamic when he's leading the race and how to hold riders behind him right did roman fevre get
20:28held up ever so slightly by a rider a moment ago because the gap has gone back out to sort
20:33of 1.9
20:34or more fevre is being urged on here on the number seven just as a uh a point of interest
20:40as well as
20:41we see because this is the first race one point first two points for second three for third as you
20:46see the teams down here that is their nation's classification as well because it's the first race
20:52guillo in 12 that's going to be switzerland in 12 that will all change during race two as far as
20:58the first official lap you'll see teams moving up and down the magic number if you're on the cusp
21:05you need to be 19th that will get you into the a final on sunday which means you don't have
21:11an extra
21:11race on sunday morning the b final if you are 20th or below down to 32nd you're going into the
21:17b final
21:17only one team goes through with all three riders on a sunday morning your two lowest points count will get
21:24you through to the a final so it's a it's a chore you don't need a hassle you don't need
21:29an extra race
21:30you don't need yeah just wondering looking back through the field if beaumair must have maybe gone
21:35down there dropped uh 20s actually goes gifting must have gone down that last lap too yeah riders
21:41moving all over the place here in the final laps and uh we oh this was uh roman fevre having
21:47a bit of a
21:47moment kunan up to fifth that is a fantastic ride for the belgian and that will give that team a
21:56massive shot in the arm boost of confidence because the unknown was can he get through well he's been
22:01down on the first turn on that right side um and here he is bouncing back so i think he's
22:07going to be
22:07okay as it stands right now yeah i'd be curious to see just where the pain level was throughout that
22:12race
22:12because you just have to assume that it's going to get progressively worse through the course of
22:17a weekend he hasn't been riding he hasn't been putting his body through this so it's it's only
22:21going to have a certain amount of laps in it but it is a great start it is a great
22:24sign for what
22:25they're capable of on sunday top of your screen top right corner that's prado got a back mark
22:29and then fevre coming into land now so that gap has gone out massively between those two 3.3 seconds
22:35so we're just over a lap to go roman fevre now deciding you know what let's settle for that second
22:39one or two little mistakes too many and uh yeah not ideal but it gave it a shot yeah good
22:46answer
22:46from prado in the same kind of breath you know like the february relents but prado also answered
22:52the bell there yeah another uh little mistake there coming out of that turn for roman fevre bottom of
22:57the hill back end just misbehaving ever so slightly trying to use that bank just to turn off and change
23:06position stay out some of those little braking bumps one three another yeah i'm thinking this will
23:14probably be the softest the track is all weekend you know it's just going to get progressively harder
23:18and harder and harder in terms of race race conditions correct yeah the base is going to
23:22be much more difficult so i don't know if that's going to be better or worse than the track because
23:26right now it's kind of a tale of two cities you have this softer on top with a really hard
23:30base so it's
23:31it's asking you to be aggressive with the throttle but then you get down to the base and that spins
23:34up
23:35bragging rights at the moment then belong to jorge prado for the second yeah panza what a great right
23:40there the number 13 in the blue and green for slovenia he is in third position albi ferrato about
23:451.3 behind him there he is on the number 16 for italy and then lucas kunan about another six
23:51seconds
23:51further back for belgium he will believe that he can still pick off if these two start tripping each
23:56other up he can maybe pick off ferrato for fourth place but it's just a little bit too much to
24:01ask i think beaten in six for australia talvikou seven for estonia eight carless race list for
24:06latvia great ride actually for taylor hamel in ninth place for team gb and roman the most like the
24:13netherlands in tenth place we've got guia of switzerland bretso of denmark bomer of usa 30 gifting
24:18of sweden tomcock of germany kohut of czech republic and they really needed this the slovenians i'm
24:26talking about with geyser out slovakia sorry i'm sorry yeah uh peter really needed this type of ride
24:32here to he's the anchor now right and if he doesn't perform their chances of getting in a virtually zero
24:37a couple more corners to go for hoye prado he came here with one thing on his mind obviously team
24:43spain
24:43have never finished on the podium therefore they've never won this thing prado heads downhill he will
24:48take a victory for spain in the qualifying race spain lead the way as we head into race two
24:54with that one point
24:58congratulates roman febvre
24:59febvre
