01:01been it's been really tricky causing people problems all weekend long already uh really
01:06curious to see how this race shapes up between coonan and voland though uh you know voland
01:11kind of wants to prove that he's he's back see coonan already out of shape but that's nothing
01:16new for him uh but yeah this is uh this is a big moment for voland to kind of get
01:20the keep the
01:21momentum going after a really strong practice session larwood here number two he's fourth for
01:25australia then we've got camden mcclellan now on the 41 for south africa in fifth place
01:30it's his uh normal teammate gian perez is down in around about ninth place at the moment there he
01:35is just behind the 32 of yokoyama of japan alvi kalemo they have sweden in the number 20 in the
01:41yellow and blue he had a couple of close calls this morning in the pre-practice perez down inside
01:46can't find his way through oh and he uh goes down inside and just runs off the track loses three
01:52positions not a good start for the spaniard then i just wonder if he high sided over that
01:57rut and it shot him to the right or what went on there some random stuff just went on there
02:01for the
02:0229 but uh here he is now he's under pressure he's got uh zanke just behind him there in blue
02:08he's in 11th place the irish rider mccormick yeah look at that actually did he get his front end
02:15chopped off there or is it just right at error because two lines do merge into one there he
02:18may have just caught the rear wheel and just tipped open the right either way it's cost him some time
02:23perez in 10th place yeah hard to hard to think he's going to catch the likes of coonan and uh
02:28voland out front but don't necessarily need to have a great performance jorge prado already got a race
02:34win on the day so camden mcclellan up the inside of law as he moves forward into fourth position so
02:40the
02:40south african going past the aussie and levi kitchen great recovery didn't make a great start he's already there in
02:44sixth place about what we said about his starts jt yesterday yeah and like you can see him coming
02:49into the first turn he really wasn't even there with the guys that were around him but he did push
02:54deep into that first corner and stayed aggressive through the first sessions there's the first
02:58section so yeah reasonable position here going to the outside through that long downhill left-hander
03:03levi kitchen just having a couple of steps in that corner there on the number five on the kawasaki
03:08that's mcclellan trying to escape the clutches of the number two the green and gold
03:11but alex larwood larwood in that fifth kitchen in sixth place and siwa seventh but kitchen finds
03:19his way past the aussie and moves up into fifth position as difficult as this racetrack is and
03:25it's different as it is from what the american promoter cross tracks would be this is a reasonably
03:31good setup for kitchen he likes ruddy racetracks he likes where you can put your tires into a rut and
03:36you follow that around where he struggles is when there's really nothing to pivot from a flat hard
03:41surface is really difficult for kitchen so again very unfamiliar but i think it is a good setup
03:46siwa charges down the inside left the door open there alex larwood and he hits the brakes a little
03:51bit too early at the top of the hill and just this intensity in this mx2 category at the moment
03:55larwood just getting caught napping there he loses another position as he gets pushed down
03:59by uh ferez on the number 29 ferez seven lower down to eight kalemov sweden in night the look at
04:06the
04:06intensity here from giam ferez you wouldn't expect anything less from the new world champ as he goes
04:10after jeremy siwa through turn one siwa in red and white on the 23
04:17holds the inside line ferez bounces off the uh outside manages to stay on two wheels but the spaniards
04:23is maybe running a little over himself at the moment yeah you can tell he understands that they have a
04:27chance to win this weekend and it's kind of coming out in his riding not necessarily in the best ways
04:32i think he'll calm down obviously come way short there so it's it's just kind of a cavalcade of
04:36mistakes right now just looking further down the order the netherlands 13th with glenn coldenhoff at
04:42the moment so uh team and our former winners they're going to be uh 10th overall in the classification
04:47as it stands right now because uh they're on 23 points so roman of most ike who was 10th in
04:55race
04:55one and he got cold enough now 13th in the second race that's a high score already but you remember
05:00you only need two scores so they'll be looking at jeffrey hurling to put in a solid performance in
05:05race three which is always possible that's a six-time champ yep yeah he had the quickest time in the
05:11third session where the track had deteriorated a lot so that that speaks volumes as to what he might
05:16be capable of well sasha kunin was fastest at the end of the opening lap here in this mx2 qualifying
05:21race for the 53-03 he's now got a 2.9 second advantage over the french rider matis valand third
05:27is the latvia giannis raceless fourth to south african mcclellan fifth the american kitchen then
05:32we've got sewa of switzerland ferez seven of spain larwood of australia eight filemo sweden nine and
05:37brazilian of brazil in ten then rempel of canada in 11th place and canada at the moment are in 12th

05:43with your two combined scores they'll be hoping to get through that it wasn't a good sort of uh french
05:50race race for them last time around i think dylan wright got injured and uh so that's scuppered
05:54their chances after saturday already yeah they've had horrific luck at this event full stop uh so
05:59so far so good through two races i think they're just trying to have some sort of decent result
06:04and not end up on the ground as you mentioned mattis valand just set the fastest lap that time
06:09around a 52.9 compared to a 53.1 of kunin the race leader the gap still hovering around three
06:13seconds over between those two uh rempel the canadian up to that 11th he's found his way past the italian
06:18zanke ricardo bauer the 125 european champion for austria he's moved up to 16th hasn't had a lot of
06:24experience on the 250 so uh he's found his way past the irish rider mccormick
06:30then we've got uh musto down in 18th scottberg up to 19th and pelly goodness of norway in 20th place
06:39no one else outside of the top 20 that's uh really going to trouble things here at the moment but
06:46or avara doesn't like that corner does he had a moment there on the opening lap he's had another
06:53one here now on lap three he wouldn't even know what you're talking about
06:57showing the video he wouldn't even know what you're talking about it's incredible
07:00you know the the mind of a racer it only kind of believes what it wants to and uh for
07:06sasha kunin
07:06he doesn't really believe he makes a lot of mistakes now everybody else with eyeballs
07:09would beg to differ not so much for sasha take a look at the start then again and uh sasha

07:15he was your your man he's going to be over on the left hand side as we look down right

07:19he comes through the gate in orange just opens up moves a little bit left before turning right

07:48that's as easy as it's going to get you know yes a better gate pick tomorrow but against 450s tomorrow
07:53just adds a whole different wrinkle and something he's never faced before having to start against
07:57450s in a race condition another thing that uh two of your three riders from team usa that never
08:04experienced before is a 40-minute free practice session a lot of track time this morning for them
08:08yeah and i think it probably helped them you know you think about bomare didn't have its best race but
08:13having all of that track time being be able to pull in talk you know talk to the mechanics talk
08:18to
08:18the staff about what the motorcycle is doing that does not exist in pro motocross for them so
08:22i'm sure it had to help on some level well kitchen has not advanced further than that fifth place in
08:27the minute he's got about four seconds to make up to camden mcclellan the south african
08:30on the triumph he's in fourth the honest racist similar gap head of mcclellan in third
08:38this is the battle for the first two spots so koona leads away valand second france was second in race
08:44one in the mxgp qualifying race with roman fevra got to get over that double koona wasn't able to
08:51this time around valand does and he's on the side of the track again he's had a couple of excursions
08:56on the space of about 200 meters and he's put himself under pressure and valand looking to pick up the
09:02first w on the weekend for team france as he goes after the belgium koona france on top in the
09:09classification at the moment they are on four belgium on six so this would give france a another point
09:20but it's belgium that's sitting there in second position against all the odds especially with
09:23lukas kunan in terms of coming in unknown how how good his fitness was going to be spain is sitting
09:30in third one of the pre-event favorites latvia fourth italy in fifth australia six switzerland
09:35sits seven usa are eight from 19 points and 14 and a fifth and then sweden in 10th ahead of
09:43gb

09:50and i'm pretty sure sasha knows who's in second place just just based on the unbearable crowd
09:58noise all around him well for a rider that's been missing since portugal early on in the championship
10:04what ran six seven something like that he's come back with a vengeance here he's been on the bike
10:10about five weeks gradually worked himself in and then the last couple of weeks have been a little
10:15bit more intense i would imagine and some french days and actually whilst we're talking
10:20about the motor process nations and things like that team france do that very well don't they
10:24bringing everybody together no matter what the french don't take any kind of nonsense even when
10:29you think of uh tom vial and you know because he was a red bull rider all the time and
10:34they
10:34you know wanted some placement here on the hat it was like no it has to go here because this
10:39is a
10:39team france hat not a personal hat and he uh you know they they overlooked him as a result of
10:44that
10:44you know it was one of those things i'm not sure if it was anyway here's ferez yeah just inside
10:50and
10:50stayed out of the heavy stuff ferez up into sixth place yeah i think the french as we see volant
10:57try to make a move on couldn't they really rewrote the strategy book on how to approach this race in
11:03every oh couldn't wow big moment for kunan big one for the mx2 race and he's just trying to pick
11:11himself up are you surprised i'm not uh he might be but but i'm not uh there's so many warning
11:20signs
11:20that were going on before that just hit that rut it kind of went left and then when he bounced
11:27it spun
11:27him around valando quick to react look at that shows you how steep the hill is as well
11:36yeah it's hard you know you the last thing you want to tell a rider like sasha is to go
11:40slower or
11:41you know not push because he's so willing to take chances that allow him to go faster but sometimes
11:47those work against you you know and you have to find that that balance where i don't think he's he's
11:53still found it for how many years into this career and he still is working to find it and he's
11:57the
11:58complete opposite of his of his twin brother you know it's just such an interesting dynamic and it
12:01serves him well at times but when it doesn't it's really punitive obviously not helped by his height
12:08either you know he has a little bit less level so when he gets a little bit of a movement
12:11here and
12:12there doesn't have the same kind of leverage that a kaida wolf or even his brother has you know or
12:16even
12:16a balan where they've got a little bit more freedom you know sort of between the legs with the the
12:21bike sort of when it starts working as a pogo stick it's not going to be hitting you up the
12:24back side
12:25um you know it hits you sooner rather than later and that's just unfortunate yeah it just it just
12:30puts you out of position you know and bad things get worse really quickly is what i noticed at the
12:35same issue um and you don't notice it until things go awry and then you notice it in the worst
12:40ways
12:41valand leads in on lap six helped by that mistake from the belgian sasha kunin a moment ago kunin just
12:50hitting that right the back end flicking from right to left he didn't get on the downside
12:55clean bounce around came back around on him slid him down the track valand very lucky to avoid him
13:01on this this part of the racetrack a moment ago and valand now with a eight second advantage over
13:08janice raceless but he's got mcclellan breathing down his neck mcclellan will pick him off here at the
13:13bottom of the hill and mcclellan for south africa looks across the right raceless over on the left
13:19mcclellan now second and it's south africa who are also looking to try and transfer they're going to
13:26be in 12th going into the final race will that be enough for south africa to go to the
13:32eight final the main event on sunday their first rider slave smith was 26th in race one you've got
13:41mcclellan now in second that puts them on 26 points and there's a lot of teams in that zone
13:47the netherlands on 20 denmark 24 with sweden on 24 south africa 26 estonia and great britain 27
13:54slovenia 29 germany canada 30 brazil on 30 japan on 34
14:04kunan here he goes through kitchen found his way past him anyway hasn't he moved up into that fourth
14:12position kunan just trying to recover from that fall as uh kitchen came around so the us picking up
14:19another place another point they're going to be eighth as it stands right now on 18
14:44one point they're on a uh perfect score with a one so to a spain take away the six from
14:51ferez they're
14:51on one point so the last race is going to pretty much determine how things look if you look at
14:56belgium five and five they're on ten so they're keeping both their scores at the moment unless
15:00evarts can have a better race in that final race uh latvia they're eight and three so they're looking
15:05to throw away an eight from carlos raceless at the minute hopefully jonas can step up when you get to
15:10the usa you're a 14 uh 18 with a 14 and a four if you can throw away that 14
15:16then coop cooper webb has a
15:18good top five top three finish all of a sudden that changes your position from eight to somewhere
15:24you know higher up the leaderboard yeah yeah it's really important here as you mentioned
15:27for webb to have a solid race will they be in the a final yes but you need a you
15:32want a good
15:33gate position for sunday and that's going to rest on cooper he he relishes that type of position
15:37i don't think him going out and beating jeffrey herrings is anything he's even considering but can
15:42he get a fourth can he you know have a four five as their two scores that would be pretty
15:47impressive
15:47janice race is here hanging on in third for team lap here the number five of levi kitchen team usa
15:53he's
15:54there in fourth position closing in on him looks like he's adapted well to the trek this was kunan
16:01from our aerial view look just laid it down that was a low side in the end but quick reactions
16:07here to
16:07land on the brakes that is fell out to avoid hitting the belgian well he he kind of took the
16:14easier way
16:15out there if he tries to save it the odds of him going high side the other way and a
16:19violent crash are
16:20pretty high so yeah that you don't want to go down but in the end i think that was probably
16:24the the
16:25better of what could have gone on there
16:30this fight then for third continues the 26th of ryanus race list the five of levi kitchen
16:37sasha kunin about 3.2 further back has another stumble in that turn did he stay up
16:43yes he did just about cost him a little bit of time though
16:48up under the highest point of the racetrack now the latvian under pressure from the american gap was
16:53about 1.4 a moment ago between them it's down to 1.3 his kitchen homes in once again back

17:00looking across to the right wants to stay out of trouble here's ferez closing in on sasha kunin
17:05now these two fighting over fifth place still likes that inside rut and he's still got stood up
17:12if i was sasha can i'll be looking at a different line through there
17:16nice that from ferez got to think ferez is going to get by here i don't know if that you
17:21know crash just
17:21threw him off his rhythm but he definitely doesn't have the intensity or the pace he had before the
17:25fall well ferez was he's got some nice lines here hasn't he and it's like i said it's easier to
17:32follow
17:32than it is to lead sometimes you can just open up the track he's going to do the same again
17:35here as
17:36he just as he did it earlier on in the race but not able to execute cleanly
17:41but that's a great shot when you go down the start straight and you're into that bowl
17:45of fans not everybody can handle that mentally psychologically
17:52yeah and you see he's cutting back across all the ruts right so he's
17:56right drive yeah understanding that the track is not in its perfect condition so he is completely
18:01rewriting how to attack it couldn't get over the step there though had to pull out of the channel i
18:06just wonder if he already saw sasha maybe jumping from uh right left to right
18:12has to sort of stay on hold for now for that fifth position potentially
18:18gonna take to the outside can he get across here not quite
18:24an easy move in the end there was a couple of mistakes in that turn for sasha kunan
18:28and ferez didn't even blink ferez moves up into that fifth place
18:33helped by the fact that he had the momentum i think sasha kunan was just going too defensive
18:36and in the end he just ran out of options oh levi kitchen running out of road
18:42as janice raceless fences him to the outside got back markers here as well the other side of the
18:48jump kitchen finds his way past kitchen now up in the third place for team usa good move that from
18:54the american yeah not so bad race was making life really difficult for him there but in the end kitchen
18:59just patient enough waited and really it was just about executing that section you can see how they
19:04were coming up short from all the jumps you don't have to override this racetrack which i think is
19:08what was getting sasha into trouble it's really just kind of being picture perfect and executing corners
19:16so if i get chin i'll tell you what he grabbed the foot peg there did the inside side yep
19:21it wasn't as bad as i looked there you know the panic grab i think was more just kind of
19:25habit and
19:26and to re-correct but still catching a foot peg on a face is never any fun especially on a
19:31downhill
19:33clear vision as he heads into turn one he's eight and a half seconds back valent maxis valent
19:398.3 clear mcclellan similar advantage back to kitchen in third this will settle him down
19:45won't it levi kitchen yeah i think you know top three yeah yeah i mean he won't be he won't

19:50super excited that mcclellan kind of rode off away from him but i think getting a top three in your
19:55individual race on saturday will calm the nerves for sure here is your race leader maxis valent
20:00his teammate roman fevra had to be content with second behind jorge prado in the mxgp qualifying
20:05race and as it stands right now with valent leading the way here so you've got your second
20:11your two points from roman fevra in the mxgp race the one here from valent they are on three
20:17spain are now on six with a win from prado and a five from guillem perez as it stands belgium
20:22are on
20:2211 with a five six from the kunans lucas was fifth in race one sasha kunan currently six in race
20:29two
20:30and then italy on 12 the same as latvia as it stands right now australia are on uh sixth place

20:3715 points they're six nine so they've got similar scores but the nine is their highest score from
20:43alex larwood in the second race at the moment but you throw away your worst score at the moment
20:48france and spain are tied on one point each going into the last race if you could do that
20:54so it all comes down as it does on a sunday to the final race in this qualifying day on
20:58saturday
21:00two lap board goes out to the right hand side as matis valent launches downhill here
21:05he will be urged on i'm sure as he rounds out that first turn about 100 meters from now
21:14there you go just here building it'll get louder as he gets out of his left into the next right

21:27a two one on the board they don't even need a third score has any country ever said you know

21:42racing on sunday ferez gets around the outside of raceless he moves up into fourth place that was a
21:47bully boy tactic there wasn't he just absolutely lent on the 17 year old then to make that pass happen
21:52yeah i mean this is this is world champion for him you know like is the result going to be
21:56what he
21:56wants no but you've seen the passes he's been able to execute and what i'm most impressed by
22:00is the approach to the racetrack you know he's he's using lines that no one else is really using kind
22:05of thinking differently about how to go around it doesn't always work you know that line really
22:09wasn't there but he's the only one that's experimenting with new lines yeah and you have
22:14to and the thing is you can psychologically we're all trying to be where this guy is on the inside

22:20probably uh you know tight shortest route around but then they get very deep ruts just lent on him
22:28there gave him nowhere to go of course janice races could have nailed that jump but both would have taken
22:33off to the right hand side would have been a pile of scrap metal but you see these ruts here
22:38you think
22:39yeah let's go inside but they only get deeper and more and more sort of unpredictable so you've got to
22:44find something else you know and that's what makes this racetrack so fascinating you know to watch to
22:50race because there is no clear line you can you think you've got the quickest line all of a sudden
22:57somebody comes up inside outside or finds a line across of it so you're always having to think
23:02especially when it's as technical as as it is right now
23:07into the final lap volant and mcclellan already kitchen about to hit the line any moment now
23:13and the american does go through in that third place
23:19but there he is bottom of the hill fourth for uh ferez now there's your brazilian brazilian
23:30he is in 18th position for brazil brazil they are in 19th place at the moment they are transferring to
23:38the main japan one point behind them so we're seeing again the likes of japan finland norway slovakia
23:45ireland czech republic lithuania
23:50going through to the b final
23:54this has been immaculate for your first race back after all that time off that's impressive
23:58yeah just watching him in practice sessions or the session earlier today
24:04honestly when i watched him put in his first fast time i said okay francis immediately the favorite
24:09because he was my only question mark for this team and if the way he looked he was not a
24:14question
24:14mark anymore and he's backing that up here and when he's going setting the fastest time in the free
24:17practice okay it wasn't by a lot 0.007 seven thousands over sasha kunan even to do that puts everybody
24:25in a good mood doesn't it and uh like you say you see that if he was languishing in around
24:29about ninth
24:30or tenth one and a half two seconds off the pace then you have a question to ask well then
24:34you're just
24:34like can he put in one heroic finish and then you count on february and vial using their four
24:41sasha kunan down again
24:45and that is into that long sweeping downhill left in the middle of the circuit
24:51no such problems though for number eight matis valand he will ride downhill he wins the mx2
24:58qualifying race goons it over the line france are on top as we head into the final race of the
25:05weekend
25:06on saturday just the open qualifying race to come but france sits on top with three spain on five belgium
25:16on eleven
25:20the land first mcclellan cross the line in second probably realize as well let's just get a good result and
25:27he's done
