00:00Hi there. Certainly had a very mixed week, a very mixed first part of September so far.
00:06But the weather does turn a little more settled by the end of the weekend, early next week, and warmer
00:12as a result.
00:13For the time being, tightly packed ice and bars, weather fronts moving through, it's more of the same.
00:18Blustery winds, areas of cloud, and at first overnight we're in between a warm front and a cold front.
00:25So this warm sector with extensive cloud, outbreaks of rain but becoming shredded as the night goes on, more showery
00:33in nature.
00:34We do have some rain clearing the southeast initially, that's the warm front.
00:37Then the clouds break up in the southeast, not much rain to come for the rest of the night.
00:42But it stays damp across Wales and northern England, and you can see this warm sector remains at the end
00:48of the night across England and Wales.
00:49That's where temperatures will by and large remain in the teens.
00:53Further north, as the cold front clears, the rain gets replaced by showers and clear spells.
00:58Northern Ireland, much as Scotland, the most frequent downpours into the northwest of Scotland.
01:02Heavy at times, gusty winds, more of that sort of thing that we've seen over the last few days.
01:08Now we follow the progress of that cold front as it sinks south on Saturday morning.
01:12That means the widely cloudy skies continue initially across central parts,
01:16and then more focus towards the south as the cold front becomes stationary into the afternoon.
01:21And that means southern counties of England, mostly cloudy, outbreaks of rain for a time more persistent across southwest England,
01:29but broken cloud for East Anglia in the southeast, leading to relatively high temperatures.
01:36Still the potential for low to mid-20s here.
01:38A much fresher feel for the north.
01:41Sunshine returns during the afternoon across much of Wales and northern England,
01:45as well as the North Midlands, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
01:48But it's here where the showers will carry on again, accompanied by gusty winds,
01:53particularly for the northwest of Scotland.
01:55That's going to make it feel on the cool side.
01:58Away from the showers, eastern Scotland seeing some decent sunny spells.
02:01Likewise for northern England, and increasingly, it's just southern counties of England
02:05where we see the largely cloudy skies and those outbreaks of rain overnight.
02:09Clear spells further north, north of the M4 by the end of the night.
02:12It's largely clear.
02:14Showers, though, carrying on across Scotland and Northern Ireland, again with gusty winds.
02:18That'll keep temperatures from falling too low in the far north.
02:22Double figures in some shelter spots, single figures.
02:25In the far south and southeast, it's another mild night, 15, 16 Celsius.
02:30It starts off a little dreary in the southeast Sunday morning.
02:33It doesn't last long.
02:34The cold front clears, and then sunnier skies for most.
02:38Still got some showers early on across Scotland,
02:41but they tend to become more focused to the north of Scotland,
02:43along with that stiff breeze.
02:45Otherwise, it's simply a drier and brighter picture for Sunday.
02:49With lighter winds, it will feel a little more pleasant,
02:53but at the same time, it's lower humidities, lower temperatures.
02:57So, most places, high teens rather than low to mid-twenties.
03:02However, as Sunday ends, higher pressure builds, as you can see, from the south.
03:08A warm front pushes across the northwest, bringing some cloud and rain for a time early in the week,
03:13but with that high pressure in place,
03:15Monday and Tuesday, temperatures will rise widely,
03:18back up to average temperatures for the middle of summer.
03:23Not the kinds of temperatures we saw this summer, of course,
03:26but average temperatures for the summer.
03:28Low to mid-twenties expected in the south.
03:30High teens, low twenties further north.
03:32By the end of Tuesday, the Atlantic weather is starting to return in the far northwest,
03:38and so perhaps more change will end the week.
