00:00Hi there, a clear night to come for many, but not for all, there will be some cloud
00:05towards the far south-west as a weather front approaches, tied in with this area of low
00:11pressure towards the south-west, and as that low pushes north, we've got high pressure
00:16sitting in the North Sea, ice bars tighten together, and we're going to see the winds
00:21pick up a little bit more in places through the evening, especially along the English
00:25Channel coast and the far south-west, most especially with wind gusts exceeding 50 miles
00:31an hour for some exposed headlands through the evening and the first part of the night.
00:35The wind's slightly moderating by dawn, but by this stage we do have a lot of cloud across
00:40Cornwall, western parts of Devon, and some outbreaks of rain which will be heavy at times.
00:45That's the only place where we've got rain, wind and cloud, because elsewhere it's clear
00:50skies for much of the UK.
00:52Some patchy cloud here and there, low cloud hugging the coast of eastern Scotland for
00:56example.
00:57But inland, widely clear skies and temperatures as a result falling into the single figures.
01:02In some spots, low single figures, northern England, parts of sheltered Scotland as well.
01:08But we start off Thursday with a fresh feel, double figures in the south because of the breeze
01:12keeping things stirred up overnight, and of course the cloud, and those outbreaks of rain
01:16continuing for Scotland, petering out through the morning.
01:19I think it does turn dry and brighter at last for Cornwall into the afternoon.
01:25But the Isles are still likely to keep some rain, and the rain spilling into the far west
01:30and south of Northern Ireland at the end of the day as well.
01:33The Republic of Ireland affected by much more wet weather.
01:36A stark contrast to Scotland, England and Wales, where sunny skies prevail once again.
01:43And it's still breezy, but the breeze, rather than coming from the east, is more from the
01:47southeast.
01:48And that's going to make a difference in terms of how it will feel.
01:50We're going to import warmer air, temperatures widely inland reaching the low 20s.
01:56Still a bit fresher on the east coast, but not as cool compared with recent days.
02:01And you can see that on this temperature contrast map.
02:05This is the comparison with 24 hours earlier.
02:08So much of the UK, as you can see, several degrees warmer compared with Wednesday afternoon.
02:13One exception, parts of Devon and Cornwall, where the additional cloud will make it feel
02:16a touch cooler.
02:18North-east Scotland as well.
02:19But north-west Scotland, much warmer because of that change in wind direction.
02:23Now, Thursday night brings again a contrast across the UK.
02:28Outbreaks of rain reaching Northern Ireland, parts of Western Scotland as well.
02:33And the south-west of Wales, south-west England seeing some showery rain.
02:37But further east will keep the clear skies.
02:39The wind's coming more from the south now, so it's going to be another clear night for
02:45many temperatures and places dipping into the mid-single figures.
02:48But a bright start for large parts of the UK on Friday morning, albeit not for everyone
02:53because for Northern Ireland, for much of the north-west of Scotland, as well as parts
02:58of Wales and the south-west, we've got additional cloud cover.
03:01Some showers first thing.
03:02And then a few of these turning heavy, potentially thundery, into the afternoon.
03:06For example, east Wales, parts of the Midlands seeing some sharp showers.
03:10They'll be very hit and miss.
03:12Further east, we keep the sunny skies.
03:13And look at the winds.
03:14They're now coming from the south rather than from the east.
03:17And that's going to make a significant difference on the east coast.
03:20We're into the low or even mid-twenties.
03:22The most likely high for London, for example, 26 Celsius.
03:26And you can see how that compares with Thursday afternoon's temperatures.
03:31That eastern side of the UK, significantly warmer, whilst it's cooler across Northern Ireland,
03:37Western and north-western Scotland, Wales and central southern England because of the
03:40additional cloud and some of those showers turning up.
03:43Those showers and the additional cloud, more of a theme through the weekend, Saturday, Sunday
03:47and Monday, we're going to see low pressure closer to the UK rather than high.
03:52Doesn't mean it's going to rain everywhere all the time, but there will be some rain around.
03:55Best to stay up to date with the latest forecast for all the details.
03:58fад面.
03:58Let's go.
