00:00Texans lose today in overtime, 27-21.
00:03Our guest here, though, on Texans postgame is a guy, 639 days, I think it was.
00:10639 or 693. I can't remember the numbers.
00:12638.
00:13Is that what it was?
00:14Yes, sir.
00:15Tank, slide in a little closer to the microphone there.
00:18Tank Dell, who I think, I don't think there was a Texan fan in the building today
00:22that wasn't super excited to see number one run back on the field today,
00:26and he's our guest on Texans postgame.
00:28Tank, it's great to see you. Wish you was in a win, obviously.
00:30How do you feel?
00:32Thanks for having me. I feel good.
00:34You know, I feel great, actually.
00:35You know, finished the game, I feel healthy.
00:38I feel like I went out there and, you know, got some stuff off me,
00:42you know what I'm saying, but I feel good.
00:44Talk to us a little bit about that stuff you mentioned.
00:46I mean, as long as it was two seasons, ultimately,
00:50and you go out there in a new offense, right?
00:53Really, the only thing I would say that you're familiar with
00:56is some of your teammates that you was in the huddle with, right?
00:59I mean, so, you know, you get out there
01:01and you don't really know exactly how you're going to hold up,
01:04and here you sit with us after a few plays, man.
01:07How does it feel to get tackled again?
01:08Yeah, it felt good, you know.
01:09I know that's what a lot of people was worried about.
01:12I've been seeing a lot of people, you know,
01:13at me all over social media, like, you need to get down,
01:16and, like, I wonder how he's going to be when he gets tackled.
01:18But I felt fine, you know.
01:19It's football.
01:20I'm used to it.
01:21I've been playing for the last 20 years, so it felt good, man.
01:25Take us through the big explosive play that looked like it.
01:28I don't know if CJ was actually looking for Jalen on that play
01:31and it wound up in your hands,
01:32but can you take us through that 43-yard catch-and-run that you had?
01:35Yeah, CJ was looking for me on that play.
01:38He was? Okay.
01:39Let's clear that up.
01:40Okay, good.
01:41Yeah, I'm glad you cleared it up.
01:42Yeah, yeah, he definitely was looking for me.
01:44But, you know, I just looked the ball in.
01:47I ran an okay route, looked the ball in, and, you know,
01:50I saw green grass, so I was getting some yak.
01:52You had said earlier in the week that you didn't care
01:56if it was a two-yard catch or a five-yard catch.
01:58Whatever it was, you were going to be joyful after that play
02:01and spike the ball and celebrate.
02:02I mean, put us in your shoes, man.
02:04What was it like securing the ball and then looking up
02:06and seeing all that green grass after so much time?
02:08It felt good.
02:09It felt good when I saw the ball release out of his hand.
02:11And then I saw Jay come out in the picture, and then when it went past,
02:14I'm like, yes, let me get that.
02:16But, like, it felt good, man.
02:18You know, I want to thank God for just on this whole journey, you know,
02:22never left my side.
02:23And, you know, I kept my faith, and now we're here.
02:26God is good, man.
02:28And your story is a good one, man, your journey.
02:30Again, I would have rather be having this conversation than a win.
02:32Yeah, definitely.
02:33But what a story, bro.
02:34Talk to us a little bit about the punt return.
02:38Obviously, something, Jay Noel has a little something going on,
02:41and they called your number to get out there at that point, man.
02:44I saw a little frustration after it.
02:45I got to believe that was because you didn't take it to the house.
02:47Yeah, thanks.
02:49Take us through that as well.
02:51Yeah, Coach Frankie did a good job, man.
02:53He actually had a punt return dialed up for me in the game,
02:57but we couldn't get him.
02:58Like, it was hard to get a little stop there.
03:00But, you know, when I went back there, you know, I was confident in myself.
03:05I think he missed.
03:05I know for sure he missed hit the ball.
03:07He was aiming to go to my left, but he missed hit the ball to go right.
03:12And then I just saw the dude on my peripheral.
03:14So, you know, I just caught the ball.
03:16I knew I had to make him miss.
03:17And then after that, I just tried to get missing.
03:19Did you think about fair catching it?
03:20Never.
03:22There was a guy closing in.
03:24I'm like, he ain't fair catching this.
03:25No chance.
03:27Not at all.
03:28Tank Dell is joining us here on Texans Post Game.
03:30I'm curious, Tank, because you, throughout the rehab,
03:34especially once you got closer and closer to this season,
03:36you posted videos working out and cutting and things like that.
03:39And it's just you out there doing the workout.
03:42So compared to the average human being,
03:44Tank Dell even rehabbing a knee injury looks like some sort of alien
03:48and superhero with your cuts and everything like that.
03:50I'm really curious as you were going through this whole thing,
03:53how much data were you getting in terms of how,
03:56just how much of your quickness and your twitch
03:58and your top end speed and everything that you were getting back to?
04:01And do you feel like you are back to the old tank pre-injury?
04:04Yeah, I do, to be honest.
04:05And, you know, my training staff here at the Texans,
04:09man, they did a great job, especially with the data.
04:12Just like we got so many resources and tools that we use
04:16to keep track of everything and explosion
04:18and how quick we can move and stuff like that.
04:21So my thing, everything I was doing was matching up
04:24to what I was doing on previous.
04:25And then like running forward, like sprinting, you know,
04:28like it was some, it's some things I still got to work out on,
04:32but I'm getting back to top-notch speed, so I'm feeling good.
04:35What did it feel like when you first started seeing some of the GPS
04:38and the data stuff start to approach what you were before the injury?
04:42What did that feel like?
04:42It felt good, you know, like just knowing like the hard work I put in,
04:46trusting God, like I said, man, and just putting in the hard work.
04:49And, you know, it was a, at first it was a dark tunnel.
04:52Like I didn't see the light.
04:53I didn't see like, at first it wasn't matching up.
04:55It wasn't nowhere close.
04:57But it's just keep chipping at the wood, keep chipping away every day,
05:00even though you're not where you want to be, just get 1% better that day.
05:04And then, you know, you keep stacking those days
05:06and eventually it'll shake back.
05:08So I will.
05:09Tank, how do you manage, I mean, there's six receivers,
05:13I believe, were active today.
05:14Is that right?
05:15I mean, you're coming back, obviously.
05:17I mean, I think you and CJ have a chemistry that is very rare,
05:23not just in Houston, but in the league as a whole.
05:26But, you know, how do you all manage that, man?
05:28Six wide receivers and, of course, you're chomping at the bit.
05:32And like how does that, how do you mentally check in to, hey,
05:35I'm just going to kind of play my role versus, hey, man,
05:38I'm fixing to run up the depth chart as high as I can.
05:41Yeah, man, I feel like me, like I feel like I'm an alpha receiver.
05:46So it could get hard sometimes because I want to be on the field a lot.
05:49I want the ball a lot.
05:50You know, that's just, that's every receiver, to be honest.
05:52So, but I feel like if we just keep rooting on the next person
05:55and just being happy for the next person, your play going to come, you know.
05:58And I know we have a lot of receivers and everyone is good.
06:01So just when your numbers call, you just got to make those plays
06:04and, you know, just keep making those plays on your number call.
06:07Yeah.
06:07What's it been like welcoming Marvin Harrison into that room?
06:10A great guy, man.
06:11He's a great, a great guy first off.
06:13And then he's a great football player also.
06:15So it's like, it's very welcoming.
06:17And he's, he's cool.
06:17He's laid back.
06:18He's chill.
06:19He's not going to be like overly like talking.
06:22Like he's just chill.
06:23He come to work every day with his head on straight.
06:26And he's a great guy, a great football player.
06:27How's the resolve in the locker room right now?
06:29Today was a tough day, obviously.
06:30Now you got a bye week coming up.
06:32I imagine a lot of guys would rather play next weekend
06:34and just get the bad taste out of your mouth.
06:35But how's the, how are the guys right now?
06:38You know, nobody likes to lose.
06:40It always leave a sour taste in your mouth.
06:42But, you know, we just got to keep pushing forward.
06:45You know, that's all we can do.
06:46We can't think about what just happened.
06:48We got another game coming up in two weeks.
06:50Like you said, the bye week, that's the, that's the worst part about it.
06:53Cause we have to sit on this, sit on this loss for another week
06:56and then a whole nother week before we play that game.
06:58But I feel like, you know, this bye week, we use it, take care of our bodies.
07:02And when we get back, strive to be wanting to know each week.
07:06Yep.
07:07Tank Dell back on the field today for the first time in 22 months, man.
07:10It was, I was requesting all week long, just so you know, and I, you know,
07:14cause Clint and I are on during the week, obviously on the station.
07:16I've been, I've been saying since Monday, I hope that they introduce the offense
07:20and I hope that tank is out there with the starters and I hope the tank gets
07:24introduced last and they must've been listening.
07:26Did you know that that was going to happen today?
07:27Yes, sir, I did.
07:28You did?
07:28Yep.
07:29What was that like hearing the crowd cheer you coming out of the tunnel?
07:32I didn't hear them.
07:33Like, I don't know when I just be overly locked.
07:35I'd be trying to hear it, but like, I don't know.
07:38I think when you out there, you don't get to hear like if you sitting in the stands
07:42or you just chilling.
07:43Like when I'm, when I came out, I don't know.
07:46I didn't hear it.
07:46Hey man, don't, don't ever change.
07:47Don't ever change it.
07:48It was loud.
07:49I'll send the video to Lindsay.
07:51Hey, don't ever change that part, man.
07:52Stay so plugged in.
07:53You don't even realize people are hollering for you.
07:54I'll tell you this.
07:55I was showed up right as y'all, right after kickoff.
07:58And so I literally saw when you, I don't know, third, second or third play,
08:01you came in the game.
08:01Oh yeah.
08:02Something in that first drive and literally the offensive linemen are like,
08:05hey man, y'all, y'all be, the cheers were so loud for you that the offensive line
08:08was having to quiet people down.
08:10I'm super blessed for the fan base that we have here, man.
08:12I love them, man.
08:13Yep.
08:13And they love you.
08:14Tank Dell joining us here on Texans postgame.
08:16Tank, congratulations on all the hard work getting you back on the field.
08:19I know there's more work to do, obviously, but it was great to see you back out on the field.
08:23Congratulations.
08:24Yes, sir.
08:24Thank y'all.
08:24God bless.
08:25All right.
08:25There it is.
08:26Tank Dell joining us here on Texans postgame.
08:28Good to see Tank back out on the field.
08:29Big 43-yard catch and run today.
08:31Punt return.
08:32Got his hands on the ball in the run game, too.
08:34That was great to see.
08:35All right.
08:35Now we got to do the autopsy on this game today.
08:38That might not be as much fun.
08:41713-572-4610.
08:43And let's dig into it.
08:44And we want to hear from you.
08:45We'll hear from D'Amico Ryan.
08:46So we'll play his press conference coming up in the 4 o'clock hour.
