00:07So we use a lot of natural materials found in Indonesia, a lot of wood throughout,
00:12ulen, bankirai, and so on.
00:26Yeah, I'm really into open space living. So we have the living room, dining and kitchen, it's all in one.
00:39What we try to achieve is how we can maintain and respect the traditional Balinese elements while still making it
00:47a bit modern.
01:00How do you blend indoors and outdoors?
01:02So here we're inside, but it kind of feels like we're outside, which is nice in this environment.
01:26This house was all about entertainment.
01:35And here, so we wanted globally to keep very low profile in all the furniture as well to enjoy the
01:40landscape.
01:53We wanted our home to be very grounding and also we wanted it to be very spacious and a lot
01:59of room for bringing our friends and our family and being in community and having parties.
02:25So here we enjoy, let's say, a lot of different materials, being very into craftsmanship and wabi-sabi to the
02:31fullest.
02:31So here we enjoy, let's say, a lot of different material being very into craftsmanship and wabi-sabi to the
02:33fullest.
02:58It just kind of tells a story of like, hey, there's actual real life that happens in here.
03:03Beyond the villas, beyond the beach clubs, beyond the restaurants, there's this authentic, beautiful character.
03:23This is kind of our playground. This is our house where we get to test new ideas.
03:27And it's our first house in Bali. It's where we raised our kids. We really love it.
03:48One of the favorite things about the villa is that this ocean breeze blows right all the way through the
03:52front yard, through the house, right out into the backyard by the pool.
04:06And I wanted to bring color. I felt like the white wasn't giving it justice and I wanted to bring
04:12some playfulness to it.
04:14Color and different attributes that I feel like that Bali has.
04:35When I sleep here and opening my eyes and seeing the rice fields and they're always changing.
04:51It's great because it allows airflow in the living and dining. So it's always a breeze. It never feels hot.
04:58And we actually don't even have air conditioner. We only have fans and we rarely use them.
05:18Definitely the biggest one of all of the bedrooms that we have and I love it.
05:23It makes me so happy when I sleep here and opening my eyes and seeing the rice fields and they're
05:29always changing.
05:30So you always get a different view and a different perspective on the Bali life.
06:00So we decided to leave everything in Switzerland and come and live here in Bali.
06:12This is a very small house and we took it as it was.
06:16I guess at first we wanted to build our house and design exactly what we wanted.
06:20But then, well, we had that small house and we realized that we don't need more to live.
06:24Let's see.
06:36Originally, I made this studio with the idea that it would be a kind of a co-working space for
06:42people who know about ceramic.
06:43and we need to find a place where they can create, where I provide all the facilities.
07:04The house has been built 23 years ago.
07:07It doesn't look like, it looks very, I mean, still, it's still in a beautiful shape.
07:29Obviously, we try to design to get most views out of every corner of the house.
07:51I really wanted to connect all the areas together so you can sit on different sides of the sofa and
07:57enjoy the beautiful views.
08:16It's designed all around the views. Here you have the beautiful, the best sunset view out in the whole house.
08:52We'll see you soon.
08:53You
