00:01Hi Bali interiors! My name is Valerie. I'm an interior designer. Come and take a peek at my paradise.
00:24So this is my own house, actually the house of me and my partner Greg.
00:27It's our dream house that we created together. I'm an interior and furniture designer and we created this from zero.
00:35So the whole architecture, the interior design, the custom furniture, everything was designed by ourselves.
00:41I'm mostly inspired by Mediterranean island architecture, but I always want to add my own personal touch to it,
00:47with like a calming zen feeling, making it a bit more contemporary, but still having these personal touches here and
00:57there.
01:00So the land is only two and a half are, but we want to make it feel much bigger.
01:05And we did this with making this wall completely open with these sliding windows.
01:10So with opening the windows entirely, and with having the floor in the same level and color as outside,
01:16we could really bring the outside in and make this space feel much bigger.
01:21I chose similar textures and tones to make the space look calming, bright and airy.
01:26I created the wall hanging myself and I used similar fabrics to create the dining table lamps.
01:36Let me show you the kitchen.
01:44The living, dining and kitchen are all open planned to make the space look bigger.
01:48The kitchen island is polished cement, just like the floor, with a slightly different tone.
01:52I wanted to make the kitchen island seamless, so I decided to put an electric stove instead of a gas
01:57stove.
01:58To add warmth to the space, I added accents of recycled wood in the stools and in the cabinetry,
02:04and accents of black to bring it into balance.
02:11Now let me show you the garden and pool area.
02:18I wanted to create a nice balance between the pure white walls, the black accents, the warm textiles,
02:24and the characteristic reclaimed teak wood throughout the whole interior and exterior,
02:28in combination with the minimalistic green garden.
02:33For the pool deck, which is on a lower level than the house,
02:35we made a puzzle with all broken pieces of marble, but all in the same color tones to add some
02:41more texture.
02:42I wanted to keep the landscaping to a minimal, so we decided to use only a small variety of plants
02:47and trees.
02:48We also wanted to have a piece of grass to cool down the space and make it more inviting.
02:53Now let me take you upstairs.
03:04So this is one of the guest bedrooms. It's perfect for visiting friends with children, so the kids can really
03:10stay in this bunk bed.
03:16The bathroom is small, but I designed it in a way that makes the most out of the space.
03:21I continue the tonality and textures of the rest of the house.
03:26This bathroom is shared between the kids and the adult guest bedroom.
03:37So this is our master bedroom. We position the bed overlooking the rice fields, so we can make the most
03:42out of the view and watch the sunrise.
03:52We built a walking wardrobe and it's spacious enough to keep our clothes inside without showing any mess.
03:57It's a sliding door made out of rattan and sungai wood.
04:07All the walls and the sink is in polished concrete, so I added a little bit of texture with these
04:12pebble stone floors to make it a bit more exciting.
04:15I wanted to keep it very minimal, so I added the black tapware, the shower and the black details, as
04:21well as the wooden inlays here to make it a bit warmer.
04:30And now follow me to my favorite place, the rooftop.
04:39The view from here is priceless. On a sunny day you can see the volcanoes in Java, Batu Karu, Mount
04:45Batur and behind me even the Bukit.
04:50This is the perfect spot to start the day with some yoga and take a plunge in the ice tub
04:54or to end the day with a sunset drink.
05:00Greg and I love to stroll in the antique shops to fall in love with some unique old pieces of
05:04furniture or decoration that have a story to give our house a personal touch.
05:11For the rest, the house is designed with clean lines and a minimal aesthetic. I believe that less is more
05:16to create a calming vibe.
05:23I just love the shadow play of the morning light in the living room and the garden.
05:26But when the sun is coming in through these horizontal shades in the late afternoon, it also creates a beautiful
05:31golden shadow play on the floor and the walls.
05:55Thanks Bali Interiors for taking a peek at my paradise. I hope you enjoyed my house. See you guys soon.
06:01Bye!
