00:01Hi Voli Interiors, my name is Alex and I'm Justin and this is Pico. Come take a
00:06peek in our paradise.
00:18It's always been a dream to design and build my own home and when I started
00:23looking for land around this area and other areas a friend showed me this
00:27land. I think that was really the moment where I said okay I think I found my
00:31piece of land. Let's show you the house. Let's check out my favorite spot, the kitchen.
00:45So this is one of my favorite spots in the house, nice and open, good breeze
00:49flowing through when you're cooking. Go down to the edible garden, pick out some
00:53things from the garden, come up here, chop it up, pops it in the pan.
01:00So this was a key feature and I love the texture and how it has this dark patina. I felt
01:05like it
01:06complemented not only the wood but these terracotta old house toppers. I also coupled it with some
01:13petrified wood plates which are actually the very first thing I bought when I moved to Bali
01:16years ago. We really wanted to maximize the view because we have a lot of green over here as well
01:25as over here.
01:35So this is our kitchen dining room table and so from here we have not only our food but coffee
01:41tea
01:41in the morning and get to appreciate the view and this is one of the favorite features of the house
01:50so I love the different details and how thick it is.
01:58Then we come into the living room. One of the favorite features of the house are these antique
02:04house toppers from Java and Bali. People actually adorn their houses with these pieces but I had a
02:11friend turn them into lampshades because I thought it would add a really interesting detail and complement the
02:17open roof as well. I just found a few key pieces of antiques. So this couch is very simple but
02:25it's
02:25with the same iron wood as the kitchen table and let me show you our bedroom.
02:37So this is our bedroom. We wanted to keep it pretty clean, simple and really focus on again the views
02:45but also add a level of softness. So we have these soft curtains as well as this overhang just to
02:52give
02:53it a little bit more of a warm feel. This is another piece that I found but then I also
02:58had the team
03:00adjust it a little bit as well. We have the dresser which is actually made again from antique doors. You
03:07also see the little terracotta lamps. These were actually just sculptures that happen to be hollow inside so
03:13we're able to turn them into lampshades and this is actually my favorite door in the whole house.
03:19Again it's the same iron wood that you saw on the kitchen table and the sofa but I love these
03:25different shapes so I noticed they started to fill some of the holes and I was like oh play around
03:31with
03:31some of the shapes so I love that they were able to do this with this antique piece here. So
03:36let me show you the bathroom.
03:47So this is the master bathroom. I wanted to have this bathroom be a little bit of indoor outdoor
03:53so when you come in you can see there's an opening so you can see a little bit of the
03:59flowers and a little bit of the stonework
04:02and this sink I also got custom made same as the kitchen sink
04:07and they did a beautiful job so it's all hand hammered and same with the fixtures I wanted to
04:11maintain the brass look throughout the house so
04:17this is probably my favorite cabinet door because it has some barnacles in it so they laid out all of
04:24the planks of wood at their workshop and I came and I selected which pieces I wanted for the cabinets
04:29and I made sure that they didn't cut away at these barnacles because I think that's really special
04:34and let me show you downstairs and this is our second bedroom but this is actually what we utilize for
04:46our studio so from here because I work in jewelry this is my workbench and this is actually a custom
04:55couch I designed so this can pull out to be a king-size bed and it's actually two mattresses on
05:00top of the
05:00other so and a desk indoor or working on the laptop
05:09so every day looks a little bit different but right now I'm working on finishing up a number of
05:13different projects some in the wax stage and some in the more finalized stage
05:20and a few antique pieces that I found that I absolutely love and then also if you notice all
05:27of the curtain rods are actually made of liana wood which is a vine so I thought they would be
05:33really interesting as curtain rods
05:39and over here like I said is another sitting area or space to just hang out or work
05:45and then over here is the edible garden so we get a lot of our basil tomatoes lemongrass etc from
05:54over
05:54there which we're pretty excited about and there's also another area down here for sitting and relaxing
05:59and soon there'll be a whole wall of dragon fruit and passion fruit if you look way down there
06:08so the land originally was quite sloped and had a lot of different levels so
06:13in order to work with that we had to get these pretty big retaining walls made so they're very sturdy
06:19and I actually love having the river stone detail I think it's a beautiful feature and I don't know
06:24if you can hear it but there's a small little river and waterfall down below that leads into a slightly
06:29bigger river out in the what I like to call the ravine and let me show you the pool
06:38so when designing the pool I personally never really swim laps in a pool anymore so I really just
06:44like a plunge pool somewhere where you can hang out relax take a dip cool off we actually found
06:49these onyx stones which I love and I think it turned out nice
07:06thanks molly interiors for taking a peek in our paradise see you later
07:24so
