00:08Hello and welcome to my flower baby tutorial. This quick and easy crochet pattern is almost
00:14completely no-sew. You only need to sew the head to the body at the very end. It makes a
00:20very sweet
00:21gift for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, teacher appreciation, and more. It's also the perfect
00:27spring and summer craft fair product. It's available for free as a video tutorial where
00:33I'll demonstrate the eight petal flower. The PDF pattern includes written crochet instructions
00:39and lots of photo references and it also has three petal variations so you can make all three of these
00:46babies. For the materials you will need some plush yarn. I'm using bulky weight 5 yarn,
00:57along with a 5mm crochet hook, 16mm colored safety eyes, stuffing, a yarn needle, and scissors.
01:06Let's begin!
01:14We're gonna begin the head with some yellow yarn and for round one we're going to make two chains.
01:21so here's a slip knot to begin your chain and then you're going to chain two. In the second chain
01:33from the hook you're going to insert eight single crochets. That is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and
01:548.
01:59After you insert eight single crochets you're going to start round two by increasing all the way around.
02:06So in the very first stitch you're going to insert two single crochets. One and two. There's an increase.
02:17Let's do our second increase. Let's do our second increase. One and two in the same stitch. Here's the third
02:25increase. One and two.
02:30Our fourth increase. Fifth increase. Sixth increase. Seventh increase. And eighth increase.
02:54Now for round three. You can go ahead and add a stitch marker if you'd like. I like to just
03:00use a yarn scrap to keep track here.
03:04But for round three we're going to do a sequence, a repetition of single crochet and increase all the way
03:11around.
03:11Here's what it'll look like. We're going to single crochet in the first stitch. Increase in the next stitch.
03:23Single crochet in the next stitch. Increase in the next.
03:29Repeating that around. Single crochet. Increase. Single crochet. Increase.
03:41Single crochet. Increase. And you're going to do this for a total of eight times a round.
03:48So you'll have 24 stitches at the end of the round.
04:00Alright. Now for round number four we're going to single crochet two and then increase.
04:12Single crochet. Single crochet. Single crochet.
04:17And then this next stitch. We're going to increase.
04:21Repeat that. Single crochet one. Single crochet two.
04:26And then increase.
04:29Single crochet. Single crochet.
04:33Okay, increase.
05:05All right, here's a look at round four complete.
05:09What you're going to do now is we're going to create an invisible finish.
05:13We're actually going to fasten off the yellow yarn, and we're going to crochet with green
05:21yarn next for the back of the head, but for now, let's fasten off with a little bit of
05:28a tail.
05:29You don't need it to be very long, and you're going to pull the yarn through.
05:39Oops, okay, that didn't work out very well.
05:43Okay, lots of shedding with this one, huh?
05:47Now, instead of just kind of leaving your piece like this with a big bump, we're going
05:59to try and smooth it out.
06:01So, insert your hook from back to front.
06:05So, here's the back, and here's the front.
06:08From back to front in the second stitch.
06:14So, here's the first stitch of the round.
06:17Here's the second one.
06:19I'm going to insert my hook from back to front here, like so.
06:24Now, you're going to pull the yarn tail in.
06:33Then, you're going to insert your hook, again from back to front, um, through the, sorry,
06:41let me try and get this out a little bit.
06:42Okay, through the back loop of the stitch.
06:46So, here's the front loop that's closer to you.
06:52Right here, that's the front loop.
06:55And here's the back loop that's farther away.
06:58It may be a little bit hard to see with plush yarn, but if you're using the normal, I guess,
07:05cotton or acrylic yarn, it'll be easier to see your stitch.
07:09So, I'm going to go from back to front into just the back loop here.
07:15And what I'm going to do is pull this yarn tail through.
07:21And what this does is it's going to create a fake stitch sitting on top of that skipped
07:30stitch we made, the first one.
07:32So now, I'm going to just pull on the tail a little bit, and as you can see, that kind
07:40of rounds out or smooths out the, um, bump here that we had, and it looks like a better,
07:50um, finish.
07:51So, that's the invisible finish.
07:54Now, um, let's go ahead and grab some green yarn, and you're going to insert your hook into
08:00the last stitch made in round four.
08:03So, um, here's that last stitch, and I'm going to go ahead and pull green yarn through, like
08:12so.
08:13And now, for round five, all you're going to do is single crochet around in back loops
08:19only.
08:20So, going into that first stitch in the back loop, we're going to make a single crochet.
08:28Going into the back loop, a single crochet, and single crochet, going in each stitch around.
08:41The reason you want to crochet in back loops only for this is because we're actually going
08:47to work the petals in the unworked front loops later.
08:53So, we've got to work in only the back loops to keep the front loops open to crochet petals
09:01with.
09:36So, here's what round five looks like complete.
09:40You should have 32 stitches all the way around.
09:43And, for round six, all the way to round ten, you're just going to single crochet around.
09:50Straight rounds, no increasing and no decreasing.
09:54So, I'm going to move my stitch marker up here a little bit.
09:58And, I'm going to go ahead and crochet by inserting a single crochet in each stitch.
10:10And, since these are just straight rounds with no increasing or decreasing, I'm going to leave
10:19you to it.
10:20And, we'll meet back at the end of round ten with all of these straight rounds complete.
10:28Here's a look at round ten complete.
10:31As you can see, we've gone up from six, seven, eight, nine, and ten.
10:37And, so now your head is going to take this 3D shape.
10:44And, at this point, it will be a good idea to start on the petals of the doll.
10:50So, we're going to pause from the head to add petals for the face.
10:56And, then after that, we'll attach the eyes and continue on finishing the rest of the head.
11:02The reason I like to leave the head open is so that I can easily tie loose ends inside the
11:08head before we close it up.
11:11Alright, so getting to the petals, we're going to attach the new color to the first front loop in the
11:20round four.
11:23So, two, three, four, yeah.
11:26So, round four is where you still have yellow and it's right before the color change happens.
11:33Now, after you attach yarn, in the next stitch, let's go ahead and make a single crochet.
11:41And, here's the sequence of stitches for the petals.
11:46It's a single crochet and then you're going to skip a stitch.
11:50In the next stitch, you're going to insert five double crochets.
11:54So, going into this stitch, I'm going to insert one double crochet, two, three, four, and five.
12:17And, then you're going to skip a stitch and single crochet in the next front loop.
12:24Let's repeat that around.
12:26So, skip a stitch, insert five double crochets in the next stitch.
12:30One, two, three, four, five.
12:47Skip a stitch, single crochet in the next stitch.
12:53Skip a stitch, double crochet in the next stitch.
12:59Insert five double crochets.
13:00One, two, three, four, and five.
13:17Skip a stitch, single crochet in the next stitch.
13:23Skip a stitch, insert five double crochets in the next stitch.
13:27One, two, three, four, and five.
13:45Skip a stitch, single crochet in the next stitch.
13:53Skip a stitch, insert five double crochets in the next stitch.
14:15Skip a stitch, insert five double crochets in the next stitch.
14:18Skip a stitch, single crochet in the next stitch.
14:20On the next stitch, skip a stitch, insert five double crochets in the next stitch.
14:40Skip a stitch, single crochet in the next stitch.
14:485 in the next stitch. Skip a stitch, single crochet. Skip a stitch, insert 5.
15:32And we're going to simply insert a slip stitch in the next stitch.
16:04So now you can go ahead and fasten off with a tail. You're going to use that tail to pull
16:11into the head and you're going to weave in the ends. I like to pull in the starting yarn
16:18tail and the ending yarn tail. And then tie them together inside.
16:32So here's the starting and ending yarn tails for the petals.
16:41Knotting the yarn ends together makes it a lot more secure than just weaving in through stitches.
16:53Alright. There we go. Now is a good time to add plastic safety eyes. I'm using 16mm colored
17:04eyes here. And as you can see, we just have this backing to put, oh sorry, this colored layer
17:13color to add underneath the eye, like so. Often when you get these types of eyes, you can choose
17:21different colors to work with. Or if you want, you can even paint the backs of the eyes to make
17:28your own custom color and design. Now I'll go ahead and link this in the description for those
17:35ones who want to get it to. And the eyes will be placed between rounds two and three. So here,
17:42counting from the center, here's round one, two, and three. So I put them right between two and three
17:49around here. And these eyes will need to be secured in the back. So after you find the placement and
18:01um, are satisfied with it, you can go ahead and attach those backings.
18:14So here's a look at the eyes attached. And once you have the petals and the eyes done, you can
18:22go
18:22ahead and finish the back of the head. So now let's go ahead and move to round 11.
18:32For round 11, we're going to start decreasing. Um, go ahead and add a yarn scrap or a stitch marker
18:40to
18:40hold your place. And what you'll do is, um, single crochet two and decrease all the way around
18:48for a total of eight times. Here's what it'll look like. Single crochet one, single crochet two,
18:57and now I'm going to decrease.
19:04Repeat, single crochet one, single crochet two, and decrease.
19:14Go all the way around and you'll have a total of 24 stitches at the end of this round.
19:43After you finish round 11, you're ready to start on round 12. Around 12, you're just going to do a
19:51single
19:51crochet and then a decrease eight times around. Here's what it'll look like. Single crochet and decrease.
20:03Single crochet and decrease.
20:09Single crochet decrease. And you should have a total of 16 stitches at the end of round 12.
20:31At this point, after round number 12, you can go ahead and stuff the head well
20:37before we finish up with one last round of decreases.
20:50And when you're ready, we're going to do round number 13.
20:54We're simply going to decrease all the way around for a total of eight decreases.
21:03So here's my second decrease. My third.
21:10Fourth.
21:15Fifth.
21:19Six.
21:22Seven.
21:25And eight.
21:28And after these eight decreases, you can go ahead and fasten off with a long yarn tail
21:34that you'll use for sewing the opening close.
21:42To stitch up the opening of the head, you're going to go ahead and attach a yarn needle to the
21:48yarn end.
21:49What I like to do is to put a running stitch in and out of the front loops only of
21:57that last round.
21:58So I'm going to go into the front loop here.
22:03Like so.
22:04And then go out the next front loop.
22:09Keeping the tail lax for now.
22:11Go in the next front loop and out the next.
22:19In and out.
22:24And the last pair of stitches here.
22:27In and out.
22:32And when you pull that yarn tail tightly,
22:36you'll see the opening get cinched up into a neat close.
22:44So now we can go ahead and weave this yarn tail in.
23:11And there you have it.
23:13The head is complete.
23:19For the arm, we're going to start round one with a slip knot.
23:25And then chain two.
23:29Working on the second chain from the hook, you're going to insert six single crochets.
23:35That's one, two, three, four, five, and six.
23:49Now you're going to single crochet around for the next several rounds.
23:54So for rounds two to round four, we're just going to single crochet in each stitch around.
24:00Let me show you the first round or the second round here.
24:04Round two.
24:05Single crochet one.
24:09One, two, three, four, five, and six.
24:35And now is a good time to kind of push your piece inside out so that the right side faces
24:41out.
24:43And you've got the wrong side in.
24:46Now we can continue on with round three.
24:51Again, you're just going to single crochet around, inserting a stitch in each single crochet.
24:56And same for round four.
24:58So we'll meet back at the end of round four.
25:03Here is round four complete.
25:05As you can see, you have a bit of a length to the arm now.
25:11For round number five, we're going to simply decrease in single crochet twice a round.
25:16So here, let's start with our first repetition.
25:22Decrease by stitching the first two stitches together.
25:27And then single crochet in the next stitch.
25:32Repeat that again.
25:34So decrease in the next two stitches.
25:39And single crochet in the next stitch.
25:45And after you finish that, you can go ahead and snip off the yarn end.
25:53This gives you a cute little arm.
25:57You're going to want to stuff that starting yarn tail in.
26:01And you don't need a fast valve with a very long tail.
26:04Just a bit of a tail to weave in later.
26:07It will be, the arm will be attached using a no sew method.
26:13So you're going to need to make two arms.
26:16And let's move on to the legs.
26:23For the leg, we're going to start with a slip knot for round one.
26:30And now that you have a slip knot, you can begin your chains.
26:34So chain two.
26:37Insert your hook into the first, or the second chain from the hook.
26:43In other words, the first chain you made.
26:46And then you're going to insert eight single crochets in the same stitch.
26:51So that's one,
27:11And now you're going to single crochet in each stitch around.
27:15So going into that first one, just make a single crochet.
27:19Going into the second one, single crochet.
27:23And let's repeat that all the way around.
27:26So here's three.
27:29Here's four.
27:39Here's five.
27:42Six.
27:45Seven.
27:46And eight single crochets.
27:49After you single crochet eight, you get to
27:53push your piece inside out.
27:57And make sure that the right side is facing out.
28:01Now for round number three, all you're going to do is repeat
28:05round two, which is to single crochet around.
28:10For another eight single crochets.
28:13So that's one,
28:16two,
28:16two,
28:16three,
28:19four,
28:22five,
28:26six,
28:30seven,
28:31seven,
28:32and eight.
28:36After you have that done, we can move on to the last round for the leg.
28:42Pretty quick.
28:43So you're just going to make a decrease and single crochet two, repeating that round twice.
28:50So decrease by stitching the first two stitches together.
28:55Single crochet in the next stitch.
28:59Single crochet in the next stitch.
29:01And then decrease again.
29:08Now single crochet in the next stitch.
29:12And single crochet in the next stitch.
29:15And that concludes the leg.
29:18So now you can go ahead and fasten off with a bit of a tail.
29:27And again, you're not going to do any sewing for the leg to the body.
29:33So fasten off with a, um, just a short little tail like this is fine.
29:40It's just going to be woven in later.
29:44All right.
29:45And you're going to want to make two little legs for your doll.
29:54Let's crochet the body.
29:56For the body, we're going to start out with a slip knot.
30:01And in round one, we're going to chain two.
30:05Now insert your hook into the second chain from the hook.
30:09And then insert eight single crochets.
30:12So in this chain, I'm going to put in one,
30:17two, three, four, five, six, seven, and eight.
30:30Single crochets.
30:31And now I'm going to increase all the way around for round two.
30:37So in that first stitch, I'm going to insert two single crochets.
30:44In the second stitch, I'm going to insert two single crochets.
30:51And again, repeating around.
30:53So here's my third increase.
30:59Fourth increase.
31:07Fifth increase.
31:14Sixth increase.
31:19And eighth increase.
31:24And that's that for round number two.
31:27For round number three, we're going to increase again.
31:31We're going to single crochet and increase, repeating that around.
31:35I'm going to use a bit of a yarn scrap here to keep my place.
31:42You can use an actual stitch marker if you want.
31:44But if you're cheap and lazy like me, a yarn scrap will do a great job for this.
31:49So I like to put it at the very front when I start my round.
31:53And then I'm securing it with the first stitch here.
31:57So that's my first single crochet.
31:59In the next stitch, I'm going to increase.
32:04And repeat it around.
32:06So single crochet and increase.
32:11Single crochet and increase.
32:17Single crochet and increase.
32:25Single crochet and increase.
32:34When you finish this round, you should have 24 stitches all the way around.
32:50All right, and my stitch marker tells me that this is the end.
32:54So I've stopped at the right place.
32:58Now that we're going on round four, we're going to be attaching the legs.
33:03We're going to attach half of the leg first.
33:07So instead of pinching it flat and crocheting through both layers, we're only going to crochet
33:14into three of the stitches for round four.
33:18And then for round five, you're going to crochet in the next three stitches, finishing up attaching
33:24the legs.
33:25All right, I'll show you how that works.
33:27So when you are going to start round four, you're going to pick up one leg and you're going to
33:35insert your hook into a stitch in the leg.
33:38I like to just go in the very last stitch that I made here because it pokes up more.
33:44So you're going to go into one stitch in the leg and the first stitch in the body
33:52for round four.
33:54And I like to hold that yarn tail from the leg away so I can see my stitch clearly here.
34:02And what I'm going to do is I'm going to yarn over and pull through both layers of the body
34:08and the leg like so and make a single crochet.
34:16So we're going to single crochet over these three stitches.
34:22We did the first pair of stitches.
34:24Here's the second pair.
34:27And now here's the third one.
34:29So going into that third stitch in the leg and in the body.
34:38So now, as you can see, I've got half of the leg attached to the body piece.
34:43Now the other half, the top three stitches that you see here, are still unworked.
34:50And again, we're going to attach them when we crochet round five.
34:54For now, just leave them be.
34:57And we're going to have some space between the two legs.
35:01So we're just going to single crochet four.
35:07One, two, three, and four.
35:13And now we're going to attach the second leg.
35:16So insert your hook into that stitch in the leg
35:22and insert your hook into a stitch in the body.
35:25The very next stitch in the body.
35:28Pull that ear and tail away so you can see your stitches clearly.
35:34And single crochet.
35:36Go into the next stitch in the leg and the next stitch in the body.
35:41And single crochet.
35:44Here's the third stitch in the leg and the third stitch in the body.
35:50Single crochet.
35:52Then we're going to single crochet in each of the remaining stitches until you finish the round.
35:58So that's 14 single crochets here.
36:01I'm going to do one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve,
36:30thirteen, and fourteen.
36:33And that brings you to the end of the round.
36:38Got those two legs halfway joined.
36:41For round five now, we're going to finish joining those legs.
36:46So for round five, you're going to insert your hook into the unworked stitches in the leg.
36:53And we're going to single crochet three.
36:55So that's one, two, and three.
37:04Right there.
37:05So those are three stitches.
37:08And that finishes up the leg because those are the only three stitches remaining.
37:13And we just crocheted over them.
37:16Now we're going to single crochet four across the body here.
37:24One, two, three, four.
37:31And now we're going to single crochet three across the unworked stitches in the leg.
37:40Here's the first unworked stitch.
37:43One, here's the second one.
37:45Two, and here's the third one.
37:49One, three, and now we're going to finish single crocheting across the remainder of the round.
37:57So that's 14 single crochets all the way to the end.
38:04One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, and eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen.
38:28There we go.
38:29We've finished the round and we've joined our two little legs.
38:37Here's how they look.
38:39Since we're joining the legs across the span of two rounds instead of just one,
38:44they'll look a little bit chubbier and rounder.
38:50And I think they're looking rather cute for a doll that's meant to sit.
38:56Alright, now for round number six, we're going to single crochet 14, decrease four, that's going to be at the
39:05back, decrease four, and then single crochet two.
39:08Okay, let's go ahead and work that.
39:11Alright, so single crochet 14 for round number six.
39:16One, two, three, oops, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen.
39:46Now I'm going to decrease four in the back.
39:56One, two, three, three, four, and now single crochet two, one, and two.
40:16That brings me to the end of the round.
40:19And with all the decreases in the back, that creates sort of a cute little tush.
40:24And we're ready to start on the next round now.
40:30For round number seven, we're going to single crochet three, decrease, and repeat that four times a round.
40:38So here's how the repetition is going to go.
40:42Single crochet one, two, and three.
40:47And then now we're going to decrease, like so.
40:55Let's go again.
40:56Single crochet one, two, and three.
41:02And now we're going to decrease.
41:06Single crochet one, two, and three.
41:15Single crochet one, oops, two, three, and decrease.
41:33All right.
41:34So for round eight, we're actually going to attach the arms now.
41:40The arms will be attached with two single crochets across each arm.
41:46And they're going to be pinched flat so that we crochet through both layers.
41:52The last round has four stitches.
41:55So you're basically going to insert your hook into the two pairs of stitches here.
42:02For one single crochet.
42:05And then in the second pair of stitches, for two single crochets.
42:11Like so.
42:13And let me show you how that works.
42:15So for now, for the next two stitches, we're going to take the first arm.
42:24I'm going to insert my hook into the first or two stitches together.
42:32So I'm pinching it flat and I'm inserting my hook into the first pair of stitches.
42:38And then I'm going to insert my hook into the body, the first stitch in the body.
42:47Hold on, let me make sure it's the first stitch.
42:51Yeah, right here.
42:53Okay.
42:54Now again, you can pull that yarn tail aside so that you can see the stitches more clearly.
43:00And you're going to yarn over, pull through the stitch, and single crochet.
43:06Let's do that again for the next pair of stitches.
43:19So that was two single crochets for the arm.
43:23As you can see, it's now attached.
43:25And then we can crochet across the center of the body.
43:30Now we're going to single crochet six across the center.
43:34That's one, two, three, four, five, and six.
43:50And then you're going to attach the second arm, going through two pairs of stitches like earlier.
44:01Here you'll see I'm going through the first pair of stitches.
44:05And I'm going to insert my hook into the next stitch in the body.
44:12Okay.
44:15Single crochet.
44:17And then going into that second pair of stitches in the arm.
44:24Going into the next stitch in the body.
44:30And single crochet again.
44:34And we're going to single crochet in the next six stitches to get to the end of the round.
44:42So now I'm going to single crochet one, two, three, four, five, and six.
44:55And as you can see, your little arms will be attached to the sides of the doll.
45:03Like so.
45:05Now is a great time to add some stuffing.
45:08So go ahead and fill your Amigurumi doll.
45:12And you can add some pellets or maybe a rock.
45:16Something heavy inside if you want it to be bottom heavy and sit easily upright.
45:25If you add pellets, I recommend putting them inside of an old, um, like a pouch,
45:33a panty hose, or, um, like an old sock.
45:37And to sew the top of the, um, opening so that it doesn't come undone and spill any pellets from
45:47within.
45:50All right.
45:53And when you're satisfied with the stuffing, let's go ahead and crochet the very last round of the body.
46:01You're going to simply, for round number nine, decrease all the way around.
46:06So I'm going to insert my hook into the first two stitches here.
46:11Like so.
46:15And we're going to decrease.
46:19Here's the next decrease.
46:26Here's my third decrease.
46:33My fourth decrease.
46:40My fifth decrease.
46:49Sixth.
46:54Seventh.
46:59And eighth.
47:05And that's that.
47:07If you'd like to, you can stuff your, um, Amigurumi's body a little further.
47:15Otherwise, you can go ahead and fasten off with a long tail.
47:20You will need a long tail for this one because you'll be sewing, um, the body to the head later.
47:33We're sewing the head and the body together.
47:35You're going to attach your yarn needle to the long yarn tail on the body.
47:55And, um, when you are ready to sew the body to the head, look for rounds five to seven.
48:03So here in the back, the first green round is round five, six, and seven.
48:11So I will be sewing the, um, body, the opening of the body over these three rounds.
48:18Um, starting from the back here, I'm going to go into round seven.
48:24So finding where the center pack would be, um, then you can kind of just go stitch by stitch.
48:35I'm personally not, um, great at sewing, so I just kind of take it slow here.
48:54That's forever.
49:06Really?
49:21Yeah, I mean, thank you.
49:23Thank you very much.
49:23I appreciate your relief.
50:30Here's a look at the finished doll.
50:41As mentioned earlier, the PDF pattern will include some different variations for the
50:47petals, so please take a look at that if you'd like some additional options.
50:53Thank you so much for crocheting with me.
50:55Hope you enjoyed my tutorial, and happy crafting.
50:59Bye now.
