00:00So we probably won't be hearing anything officially about Godzilla X-Kong Supernova till the end
00:05of the year, yeah.
00:07But Godzilla Minus Zero news just keeps busting in.
00:10We might even be getting the first trailer for the movie this September, that's next
00:15month guys.
00:16Because Intel dropped last week mentioned that Minus Zero is set to have a pre-release
00:21release on September 26th at this year's 64th New York Film Festival.
00:28Obviously, New York is going to play a role in the movie, so it makes sense to prioritize
00:33that city as the first place to reveal Minus Zero in the states.
00:37And a big thanks to Goji Center for letting me use a couple of his videos to get some b
00:41-roll
00:41for this video.
00:42Make sure to go check those videos out when you're done here, I'll leave links to them
00:45down below.
00:46And I do want to like clearly establish that I don't know if the first true trailer for
00:51Minus Zero will come out around that time or not.
00:55But if Toho is going to unleash the movie to some people publicly, well then it makes
00:59sense to me that they would also want to give the rest of the world a little sample size
01:04as well.
01:05Regardless of that eventual trailer, we do have some clear updates surrounding the
01:10film leading into release and y'all need to get fired up.
01:14Godzilla Minus Zero is going to be the biggest Godzilla movie of all time.
01:19Before I tell you how though, make sure to stomp that subscribe button and tell me how amped
01:24you are for Minus Zero and Supernova down in the comments.
01:28Alright, so thanks to the announcement that Minus Zero will be shown at the New York Film
01:33Festival, which I have plenty of thoughts on.
01:36Not all of them are good and I'll chat about that here soon.
01:39But with that confirmation, we now know the movie will be the second longest Godzilla movie
01:45of all time.
01:47Coming in at 135 minutes, I'm assuming counting credits, meaning the movie itself is probably
01:54more like right over two hours give or take a few minutes.
01:58Officially though, this is roughly four minutes shorter than Godzilla 1998.
02:03So I know people are going to have plenty of thoughts on that.
02:06But at the end of the day, this will be the longest Toho produced Godzilla ever.
02:12And the longest Goji film made with the classic kaiju formula.
02:17Now to me, I'm all for this longer run time.
02:20It actually gets me even a little more amped for the movie.
02:23I feel like the sweet spot for a good mostly action blockbuster is right around two hours
02:29and like 20 minutes, two and a half hours, you know.
02:32Anything over that might be a stretch for some people unless the movie's damn good.
02:37And I personally feel like movies under two hours sacrifice a lot of storytelling that
02:42amplifies all the little emotions that come from the more action heavy moments unless the
02:48story is super simple.
02:49I'll be honest with you.
02:51The last two Monstaverse movies were right around two hours and they would have, I think,
02:57both benefited from about 15 to 20 more minutes of suspense and world building moments thrown in there.
03:03I just think it would have made the battles more meaningful with just a little bit more tension
03:08built up through a few more minutes of screen time.
03:11For example, all the bits of lore that would have foreshadowed the Scar King were cut from
03:17Godzilla vs Kong.
03:18And I don't know, I think that ultimately made the new empire feel less impactful.
03:24But that's still, you know, just my take and yours may be different and that's chill.
03:28I just want both of these movies coming out to be epic so bad.
03:32And from the sound of it, I think Toho thinks Minus Zero will be epic.
03:37Maybe even more than epic to a Godzilla fan like me or you, but like epic to anyone on
03:42the planet who likes a good movie.
03:45Because this movie, Godzilla Minus Zero, is releasing in the most countries and territories
03:51across the planet ever for a Godzilla movie.
03:54Yeah, more than even the Monstaverse movies.
03:57This will be the biggest worldwide launch the G-Man has ever gotten, releasing in 79 countries
04:04and territories.
04:05That's 16 more than Godzilla X-Kong The New Empire which was released in 63 different
04:11global locations.
04:13From what I can get out of it, the releases will be staggered throughout most of the month
04:17of November.
04:18And I know some of you are worried you still might not be able to see it, but the chances
04:22are clearly the highest it's ever been for everyone to get to watch the movie.
04:27We just have to wait for Toho to work out all those fine details behind the scenes with
04:32each nation and territory.
04:34It doesn't make sense to me how we can't all just get the movie on the same day, but
04:38hey what do I know?
04:39That alone though is kinda crazy.
04:42The fact that Toho is trying to let everyone get a chance to see this movie when a decade
04:46ago I wasn't able to see Shin Godzilla where I live in the states due to its limited release.
04:52Godzilla and Toho have really come a long way and this is just super cool.
04:57Thank you Toho for opening up to the world.
05:00You're making a lot of people very happy by doing this.
05:04Now I want to circle back to this whole early release on September 26th at the film festival
05:09thing.
05:10Before I talk, how do you feel about this?
05:12I seriously want to get like an overall consensus from you Dangerville residents.
05:17On the surface it comes across like a cool thing right?
05:21Our guy Godzilla is getting a position at one of the more big and famous film festivals in
05:25the world and that's awesome, but it comes with some pros and cons I think.
05:30I never know what y'all want first, good thoughts or bad.
05:33Well let's just get the bad out of the way shall we?
05:36Showing anyone, even some honorable folk who were probably paying a lot of money to attend
05:42the festival and who are probably sworn in to not record, share or spoil anything from
05:47these movies, it still allows the possibility that this entire movie will be ruined over
05:54a month before the world gets to see it.
05:56And in today's world it's almost impossible to not have movies or games or almost anything
06:02spoiled for you, even if you try to avoid it.
06:05You would literally have to never get online in any form to not have it ruined I'm sure.
06:10So as you can tell, this whole thing worries me.
06:14I'd like to think the lucky few who get to see it would stay true and not spoil it, but
06:19history tells us to not get our hopes up there.
06:22Now if you're like Jacob, who cares it's just a monster movie.
06:27Well just imagine if this carefully kept story of Godzilla minus zero, all the secrets of this
06:33movie were just spoiled for us all.
06:37All the impact of whatever happens in the movie once you get to see it would be severely broken.
06:43And don't even get me started on if there's leaks that come out saying the movie's trash
06:47or something.
06:48That could kill the momentum for minus zero.
06:50But there is a way where this could actually be good for the movie.
06:54If these early viewers love the movie and don't manage to spoil it in their excitement, but
07:00they go out and just praise the film for being such a good time and a great Godzilla movie better
07:06than minus one even, then I think minus zero could perform even better than what early
07:11predictions are suggesting.
07:12Word of mouth is very real in today's film industry and for a movie like minus zero coming
07:19off the back of minus one and it's extreme success.
07:23If it gets good early praise without anything being spoiled, man, the sky's the limit.
07:29So like I said, pros and cons to this.
07:32But the risk is very high, which makes me think Toho is extremely positive towards minus
07:38zero and thinks it really does have a chance at taking over the world.
07:42And the risk of a few leaks won't outweigh the potential positivity marketing that could
07:47come from showing this movie early on.
07:50Although I'm still kind of off put by the idea of getting this movie that I'm like
07:54super stoked for ruined for me.
07:57Who's in the same boat as me?
07:59So this September 26th, just know there may be spoilers for Godzilla minus zero and to tread
08:05carefully.
08:06I'm still hoping and kind of thinking it will work out this way that the official full
08:11trailer will drop around the same time and it will sort of distract people from any potential
08:16leaks and give us all something to think and talk about.
08:19In the end though, we're just going to have to wait and see.
08:23Residents, this has been Jacob and that concludes this Atomic News Update.
08:28I hope you enjoyed the video and if you did, leave me a big ol' SCREEN!
