00:00Good morning. It's a warm and humid start to the week for all, and for some it's going to be
00:05a very hot day, particularly in the south-east of England.
00:08For others, though, further north it's a wet start, and we all see some rain across Scotland through much of
00:13today.
00:13This arc of rain slowly making its way further north and intensifying, so some heavier bursts of rain for northern
00:18Scotland by this afternoon.
00:20Otherwise, a few showers following as skies brighten for southern Scotland and northern Ireland.
00:25Most of England and Wales, though, will have another dry day, and there will be some long spells of very
00:29hot sunshine.
00:30Temperatures perhaps approaching the mid-30s once again in the south-east of England, but widely the high-20s or
00:37low-30s,
00:37and with quite light winds, a muggy and humid feel to the day across many southern areas of the UK.
00:44Now, the chance of one or two isolated heavy showers, even for England and Wales, as we go into this
00:48evening.
00:49Potentially even the odd thunderstorm, possibly across the south-east as well, so don't take the graphics too, literally.
00:53There is quite a bit of uncertainty through this evening.
00:55But overall, what we can say is that northern or western parts of the UK are more likely to see
00:59outbreaks of rain or showers through the course of this evening and overnight.
01:02And these heavier colours, indicated by the shades of orange and yellow, give an indication that we could see some
01:08quite intense downpours here and there,
01:10so potentially leading to some surface water on the roads if you are travelling.
01:14But for all of us, it's going to be a pretty humid night, quite muggy in places, particularly in the
01:19south,
01:19and we might even well see a tropical night in some of our towns and cities in the south,
01:23and that's where temperatures remain above 20 degrees Celsius right the way through the night.
01:27Now, it will turn breezier across the north of Scotland.
01:30Here, temperatures will be quite a bit low, and these brisk winds will continue to develop as we go through
01:34Tuesday.
01:35So, a pretty wet day, actually, to come across Scotland, some quite significant amounts of rain potentially.
01:40So, do stay tuned to the forecast if you do have travel plans here.
01:44The rain probably becoming confined to the far north of Scotland as we go through the course of the afternoon.
01:48But there will be some pretty heavy showers following, and many parts of the UK are at risk of seeing
01:53a few showers through the day on Tuesday.
01:56But I think they'll once again be mostly in the north and the west, as you can see in the
02:00graphics.
02:00Very few, if any, across the south and the east.
02:02And here it will stay largely bright with some lengthy spells of sunshine and still holding on to some warmth.
02:08So, temperatures 28 to 30 degrees Celsius, and a fairly humid feel wherever you are on Tuesday.
02:15So, there is the potential for some welcome rain in places over the next few days, but not a guarantee,
02:20and not really where we particularly need it in the south and the east.
