00:00Good morning. It's a dry start to the day for many, but some of us are actually waking up to
00:05scenes like these. Some early morning mist and fog patches in the valley bottoms. That won't
00:09take very long at all to clear at this time of the year. The strong May sunshine quickly burning
00:13that off. And for most of us, it will be a largely dry day. There will be quite a lot
00:17of cloud around
00:18at times, but we'll all see at least a few sunny intervals, probably the best of which this
00:22afternoon across parts of Northern Ireland and Western Scotland. But there will be a tendency
00:26for the cloud amounts elsewhere to increase, and that may well just develop one or two
00:31mostly light showers. Now, in the south, it will be once again another fairly warm day
00:35for the time of year, 19 or 20 degrees in the very far south of England. But for most of
00:40us, it will feel cooler compared to yesterday. Highs no better than 9 or 10 degrees in the
00:45north of Scotland. And when you factor in how it was yesterday afternoon, well, temperatures
00:49in eastern Scotland and northeast England will be some 5 to 7 degrees or more lower. So it
00:54will feel quite noticeably cold for early May. And when you factor in those brisk northerly
00:59winds in northern parts of the UK, well, it will feel no better than 4 or 5 degrees in
01:03some exposed areas. Now, into tomorrow evening, it starts off fairly cloudy inland, but there
01:10will be some late sunshine for some of us. One or two showers here and there through the
01:14course of this evening and into the early hours of Wednesday morning. But for most, it will
01:19turn largely dry. One or two fog patches forming by dawn. But for most, with clearing skies,
01:24it is set to be a cold night. And across more northern parts of the UK, well, a widespread
01:30frost developing. Towns getting down to around zero to plus two in the countryside. Minus three,
01:35perhaps as low as minus five degrees Celsius. Quite a sharp frost then in the countryside. So
01:40gardeners and growers do take note of that. And even in the south, well, we could see some
01:44pockets of frost where skies are clear, even in the south and the southeast. Further west
01:49though, for Wales and the southwest of England, something a little bit milder here. And we
01:53will see a scattering of showers. And those will continue through Wednesday morning as well,
01:58gradually easing as we go into the afternoon. A few isolated showers drifting in off the
02:02North Sea into parts of eastern England and the southeast as well. Otherwise, some early
02:07morning sunshine and many other areas will have a largely dry day with a mixture of cloud
02:11and sunny spells. Northern Scotland though, probably cloudier here with some more general
02:16outbreaks of rain at times. And certainly a fairly cool feel wherever you are on Wednesday
02:21afternoon. Highs no better than, well, 11 to 13 degrees Celsius for many. Possibly 14 or
02:2715 in the best of the sunshine. But certainly below average values for the time of year.
02:33So that colder interlude through the middle part of the week, but probably turning something
02:37a little bit milder as we go towards the end of the week in the south at least.
02:41But also possibly increasingly unsettled with a growing chance of some showers.
