00:00Hello there, good afternoon. After the settled day that most of us saw yesterday, it's turned
00:04into a much more changeable and wet end to the weekend. And actually, through this morning
00:09we've seen some very heavy rain across parts of Ireland, spreading northwest through the
00:12Irish Sea into parts of Northern Ireland and southwest Scotland. The colours here on the
00:15radar indicating some very intense heavy bursts of rain. And we could see some travel disruption
00:20through the next few hours across parts of Northern Ireland in particular, where there
00:23is a warning in place. As well as that, it's pretty windy out towards the west. We've got
00:27gusts of 45 to perhaps 55 miles per hour for the next few hours through the Irish Sea.
00:32And it will stay pretty wet and windy through this afternoon across many parts of Scotland
00:36in particular. Notice the colours. The oranges and the red shades indicate some very heavy
00:40downpours for a time. So expect some surface water on the roads if you are travelling. Across
00:44England and Wales, the rain will be a bit more showery in nature. But nonetheless, there still
00:48could be some heavier bursts of rain at times. Although in the very far southeast, if we hold
00:53on to some brightness into this afternoon, well here, it could actually turn it into a pretty
00:56warm afternoon with highs of 24, possibly even 25 degrees Celsius in parts of Essex and
01:02Kent. Notice though, a very big northwest-southeast split in the weather in terms of temperatures.
01:07Today, no better than 14 or 15 degrees where the rain is persistent and it will be windy
01:13as well for many. So as I say, it will feel cooler than these temperatures perhaps suggest.
01:17Now a bright end to the day for Northern Ireland, some late sunshine here and actually brightening
01:21up to end the day for other western areas of the UK too. The rain chased away by those brisk
01:25winds.
01:26And clearing into the North Sea as we go through the course of this evening. That means it's going
01:29to be a cold night. Much colder than last night, clearing skies for many and turning largely dry.
01:35There will be some high-level cloud across parts of England and Wales, but I think there'll still be
01:38some patchy mist of fog forming in the countryside. And despite temperatures in the towns and cities
01:43perhaps holding up at between around 8 and 10 degrees by and large, in the countryside, well,
01:48we could certainly see temperatures much lower, perhaps the mid to low single figures. So these are
01:52temperatures we could see in the prone rural spots. Cold enough for a touch of frost as well
01:57as that to say, perhaps one or two fog patches around too. Now in the northwest of Scotland,
02:01it will stay quite breezy. And as we go into Monday morning, that southwesterly breeze will
02:05still bring in quite a number of showers across the highlands, the Hebrides, for example. One
02:09or two heavier ones perhaps first thing on Monday morning. But otherwise, it's set to be a fine day.
02:14Any fog clearing by around 10 o'clock and then plenty of sunshine. A bit hazy perhaps at times across
02:19England and Wales, but generally staying dry for most. And temperatures not as high as today perhaps
02:24in the very far southeast, but pleasantly warm in the sunshine with much lighter winds compared to
02:29on Sunday. Highs between around 17 and 21 degrees Celsius for many of us. Now in the very far southeast,
02:35there will be some rain quite close by through the Dover Straits. And as we go through Monday evening,
02:40that rain could just creep a little bit further northeastwards into other parts of southeast England.
02:44And it's actually courtesy of a warm front that will be quite a key feature of the weather
02:49as we go into Tuesday. That warm front will push its way northeast or northwestwards rather across the
02:55UK, introducing much warmer weather once again as we go into Tuesday. But notice the ice bars,
03:00those also closing together quite notably too. So as well as the strong south to southeasterly winds,
03:06it will turn much warmer. So temperatures unseasonably warm by Tuesday and Wednesday.
03:11Now it's all courtesy of a deep area of low pressure that's starting to spin up in the northeast
03:15Atlantic. Through Tuesday into Wednesday, it really deepens quite notably. Notice these colours,
03:20the pink shades indicating some very strong winds out over the ocean. But over the UK,
03:25it will also be pretty windy as well. Gales around the coast is quite likely in the west.
03:30And as I say, a much more unsettled picture with some heavy rain sweeping eastwards on Wednesday.
03:34So a much more changeable outlook as we go through the next few days. Of course,
