00:12the san francisco giants have officially placed infielder casey schmidt on the 10-day injured
00:20list with a left knee meniscus tear torn meniscus for casey schmidt not a torn acl which so i don't
00:32know what that means for this year but quite frankly that's kind of irrelevant um torn meniscus
00:37casey schmidt should be fine for 2027 you would think and uh you know i've had this injury and we
00:44do this every time we do this every time i don't know why you still use that line we know
00:50there are a few i haven't had 40 stitches in your eye have you almost lost an eye i had

00:55as a three-year-old 112 my sister pushed me off the deck i've told the story no i know

01:31last night that i don't know where everyone's head was that was my thought please don't bleed into
01:36next year yeah on that injury because that obviously would mess with some plans that i
01:43would think the giants have right now yeah and right now you put them on the 10 and you assess
01:48the options you got to get the good old second opinion maybe dr neil elitrach gets involved because
01:54he's involved in all these surgeries although the giants have excellent surgeons on their staff and then
01:59you decide what the course will be if it's a removal which a guy that age i can't imagine they
02:05would remove it because then you get into bone on bone and it's a deterioration sensation is what
02:10it is and if you repair it then it's a slower rehab like you were saying what are we even

02:17i mean we're gonna rush you back for september i mean i love watching him play so as we get

02:23august and september and all of that stuff with the giants and you want to sort of dream about
02:27where this will go next year and who's gonna lock down a spot miss that the other sure you'll miss
02:33out on that it sounds like um if you're telling me four to six months i'll believe you um that
02:39probably would mean that casey schmidt is out for the for the remainder of this year but if he's good
02:45to go on christmas morning then great actually let's let's do february are you ready by february

02:57went in watching him round first last night and the way that looks and i know you were thinking acl

09:48information on a timetable uh tony vitello will speak in an hour in the dugout i would imagine this
09:54will be question number one we'll see if the giants will immediately declare him for out the year or if
10:00they're going to await more information but you would think at this point especially with the
10:05standings looking as they are uh that casey smith may have played his last game for the giants this
10:10year which is a big bummer but my god um i'm gonna look at the positive which is he has
10:16completely
10:17changed the outlook of his career and his standing within the organization and you would figure based
10:24on what we know right now he'll be ready for spring training so casey i don't know which position he's
10:29going to lock down i don't know if he's going to be the second baseman or the third baseman or
10:34the eighth first baseman or the roving left fielder who knows maybe he'll catch and pitch next year as
10:40well but casey smith you can go ahead and ink him in for the starting lineup next year everyday player
10:46and less likely now to be traded than ever before i don't think that he was gonna be traded no
