00:12Hey!
00:14Other than Washington, D.C., is this your first Warped Tour?
00:18Yes, technically. Yeah, this year.
00:21That seems weird.
00:22It seems weird. A lot of people have been coming up to us going,
00:25there's no way, because I thought I saw you at this year.
00:29And to be honest with you, it kind of feels like we had,
00:33but the story is that in the early 2000s, right before our first album came out,
00:40this was such a perfect fit for us and kind of our whole vibe.
00:46And it was on our radar and in our plans to do.
00:49And then we dropped our first single, and it got really big.
00:53And it was still like, okay, Warped Tour, Warped Tour.
00:55And at that point, I feel like management and the record label stepped in and go like,
01:00you don't want to tour in a band and do this.
01:01We're going to put you on a bus and do this right away.
01:03And so we're like, okay, next year.
01:06Okay, next year.
01:07Okay, next year.
01:07And it kind of just got to, you know, but better late than never.
01:10Yeah, absolutely.
01:11You're doing it now in 2026.
01:12So how has the experience been for you thus far?
01:17It's been great.
01:18We're super stoked to be here.
01:21We did the DC show.
01:22It was amazing.
01:23Extremely hot.
01:24The accommodations here are a bit better.
01:26The weather's a bit better.
01:27I know, we got a nice setup going.
01:28It is nice.
01:29This is awesome.
01:30Yeah, it's been a lot of fun.
01:31I feel like I'm amongst my people.
01:33You guys put out a new single that was a first in eight years.
01:37Is that right?
01:38How do you sleep?

01:40We released it and debuted it live for the first time the same day we did Warped in DC.
01:48That was fun.
01:49It was a little bit, you know, nerve wracking because it was something we hadn't played yet live.
01:55But it was a great reaction.
01:57And yeah, I think, like I said, the song kind of fits the vibe of all of this.
02:01It does.
02:02Yeah, it totally does.
02:03It's a bit heavier.
02:04Kind of like there are some parts that remind me of kind of like a system of a down.
02:09And I think like the funny thing with you guys is that, you know, my first introduction
02:13was crawling, you know, crawling in the dark.
02:16And then, of course, the reason becoming sort of the defining anthem.
02:22What is your relationship with the song today?
02:25Because I was watching this movie on Netflix that just came out.
02:30Right.
02:30It's got Eric Andre, John Cena, and our friend Sherry Cola actually is the one that says the
02:36line where she's actually saying the lyrics of the reason.
02:40And it's like this cheesy romantic scene.
02:43But, you know, what is your relationship like with the song today?
02:45Hey, it's I mean, obviously, we understand how fortunate we are to have something that that's
02:56kind of been woven into pop culture.
02:59And obviously thankful that it helps me put a roof over our head, you know, my head and
03:03put clothes on my kids backs.
03:05But, you know, like that song, it was a double edged sword kind of because prior to that
03:12song, we had other songs that we kind of felt that who we were more as a band.
03:18Yeah.
03:18The reason didn't really.
03:20I mean, yeah, it didn't.
03:22But it did.
03:23It's like our first album.
03:24And even prior to that on prior to having a record deal, we know if there were 10 songs
03:29on a on an album, we had eight uptempo energetic songs and then a couple of mellow songs.
03:34This was what it was.
03:35And even on our self-titled one that had Crawling in the Dark and Running Away, there were others
03:40like mellow songs on that.
03:42So when we did this album or the reason album, I personally thought, oh, it's just like it's
03:48just that it's like just to balance out the energy of the record.
03:51We're going to have some more mellow songs.
03:53I didn't think it was going to be single.
03:55He didn't.
03:55Nobody thought it was going to be single.
03:56Not even like management.
03:57We didn't pick it.
03:59And it wasn't just a single, though.
04:01It took over the world.
04:02Right.
04:02And so, like I said, it was a double edged sword.
04:05We kind of lost control of perception of the band.
04:09Like up to that point, how we saw ourselves is how our audience saw us as well.
04:14Right.
04:14And so the song kind of becomes bigger than the band.
04:17It takes on a life of its own.
04:19And at that point, you kind of have to wrestle with trying to get control of the image of
04:25the band back.
04:27And I don't know if we won or not, but after a certain amount of time, it's easier to do.
04:32So like a song like How Do You Sleep, to us feels natural.
04:36But to people who know us to the reason, they're like, what are you guys doing?
04:39You know?
04:40And I'm like, this is what we are mostly.
04:43You know?
04:44So.
04:45The vocals on How Do You Sleep are so Jack White-ish.
04:49Yeah.
04:50Definitely.
04:50Love it.
04:51Like they punch through, you know?
04:52Punching.

04:54I love Jack White.
04:55No, that's a, that's a, I take that as a huge compliment.
04:58Are you guys having fun?
04:59You know, are you having fun doing Hoobastank in 2026?
05:02Yes.

05:04We were like, what else are we going to do?
05:06What else are we going to do?
05:07We're not good at anything else.
05:09So.
05:09This is what we know how to do the best.
05:13And with lots of breaks over the years, you know, it's really nice to get back out.
05:17We all get along really well.
05:19We have a great crew.
05:20Everybody hangs out.
05:21We all joke around.
05:22I mean, our mission in life is to just be goofballs and laugh, make each other laugh and go get
05:29food
05:30and play shows.
05:31That's what touring is now.
05:32Okay.
05:33We got to play a show for, you know, 40 minutes.
05:35But after that, we're just going to do, you know, fart jokes and then go get food.
05:39And that's the day.
05:40Yeah.
05:41That's the highlight.

05:43To be honest.
05:43Dude, when my feet hit the floor every morning and I realized this is what I do for a living.

05:48I have nothing but gratitude.
