00:14I just want to jump into it right away because I've been wanting to talk about this for so long.
00:18Your new single, New America, with Albert Hammond Jr. of The Strokes. Insane. Tell me about it. Tell me about
00:24that whole collab, how it all went down.
00:27I definitely just felt, it's kind of how it is with Travis. It's like you feel confused and maybe a
00:35little starstruck, but then you're like, I'm in this position for a reason and let me just like learn.
00:40Right.
00:41Because, you know, not everybody gets to be in these rooms with these certain people. So it was super cool.
00:47It was fun. It was sick.
00:50It's like a major collab right there. As soon as I saw that, I've never clicked on like a tab
00:54for like a new song right away so quick. I was like, hey, AJ, and Kenny, tab. I'm checking in
01:00right there.
01:01But what do you look for like in a collaborator?
01:03I think specifically with Albert, he brought that feeling of guitar and like the certain anthemic vibe that I was
01:15trying to curate.
01:16Right.
01:16And I felt like he was the one to do that. And he did do that. I feel like he
01:20did his job by complimenting that song.
01:24So I think that's kind of what I look for in any collaborator is someone who can, I don't know,
01:31fill in the missing piece.
01:32Right.
01:32I guess.
01:33And I noticed you had also put out Due to Popular Man by your fans.
01:37Yeah.
01:38But you covered Obstacle One by Interpol.
01:40Yeah.
01:40And they were asking for that. So can we expect like a Paul Banks kind of collab soon too?
01:45Hopefully. Hopefully. My dream is to tour at the Interpol.

01:48Yeah. I've been thinking about it a lot. I'm like, that'd be sick.
01:51I love Paul Banks. That whole band is just insane. And he's obviously inspiring.

01:59Well, we're manifesting it right now. Like you said it right now. Like it's probably literally going to happen.

02:03Like I literally talked to him at Coachella. He was like the sweetest guy ever.

02:07He's really cool. So like you're reaching out to Albert. You're working with Travis.

02:16But also working with Travis Barker and Albert.

02:19Yeah. Um, so closely. What's something that like most people won't know about those guys that you do?
02:25Um, like how they work in the studio or how they collaborate?
02:29They honestly don't hate me, you guys. I feel like surprisingly, they give people space to question things.
02:39They're both, you know, like regarded as being like top tier in their lanes.
02:44But it's like sometimes I'll be making music with Travis and he's like, yo, is that sick?
02:48Yeah.
02:48And he's like, yeah, that's Travis Barker. That was really sick. I think you're good.
02:53So it was kind of the same with Albert as well where, um, you know what, which I think is
02:58a beautiful thing.
02:59They just leave room for things to be tweaked. A lot of people would come in and be like, this
03:03is what you get.
03:04Right. Right. But, um, they're really there for the song. Um, and they're there to like hack away and work
03:10on it.
03:10And that's also what I look for in a collaborator, someone who really wants to see it all the way
03:15through.
03:15Like neither of them left the creative, um, infrastructure throughout the beginning of the song or towards the end.
03:25You know, they kept checking in and they kept, they kept being like, how can we make this better?
03:29Really?
03:30Um, so that's something that's cool. Not that people wouldn't expect that, but, um,
03:35They're committed. They're there from beginning to end.
03:37And they're always just like, we're here for the whole song.
03:39Yeah. They're okay to get messy. That's, I like that. So, I like that.
03:43So you just played her now. You just got off stage. Um, I saw a video on YouTube of somebody.
03:49No, no, no. It's a good video. I swear. Somebody in the crowd. If you look up, Kenny Hoopla catches

04:00I was in like Belgium, uh, performing at some festival and then someone threw a waffle from mad far and
04:07I caught it and it was disgusting.
04:09And then I was like, at what, at what cost? It was like, I had so much peanut butter and
04:14stuff on my hand.
04:15No, it was, yeah, it was like low-key disrespectful, but I was like, man, that's going to be a
04:19fire clip.
04:19I hope someone recorded that.
04:20Well, it was and I saw it. That's like the first thing that pops up when you YouTube, Kenny Hoopla,

04:26Is that the craziest thing you've caught while on stage?
04:28Definitely. Definitely. A, a, a Belgium waffle with peanut butter.
